    Delicious award winning pizza
    David H.

After a few days of constant delicious Spanish cuisines and Tapas, it was time for a change. Since we were in Europe, we thought of getting some Italian and what a great choice for our last night before flying back to NYC. This place had amazing award winning pizza which was no joke. Their pasta was delicious and fresh plus the dessert was amazing too. Service here was nice from the waiters but try to come here with a reservation. We got lucky and were able to do a walk in but I saw many people get rejected. The place is quite big and people were still coming in after 10:30ish. A definite must visit if you want some Italian and couldn't make it to Italy in your trip to Europe.

4 cheese pizza - Tasty but really reeeeaally cheesy

***3.5 Stars*** Luigi is one of the more popular Italian restaurants in the L'Eixample district. After having tapas and paella for several days straight, I needed a little break from Spanish food. I did my due diligence by trying a smaller and lesser known Italian restaurant the day before, but it was extremely disappointing.  I had passed by Luigi a few times during my walks and noticed that their patio was packed every night. So, I decided to give them a try. I walked in and was seated inside immediately. One of the reasons why I think this spot is so popular is because of the stellar ambience. The patio is very lively and since the restaurant is located in a prime downtown location, there's a great view of the street and neighboring businesses. The inside is very chic with a little bit of a rustic feel. Great lighting and wood furniture/paneling all throughout. The tables are a tight fit and you will be in close quarters when seated next to other parties, but that's how things generally are in Italy (and in many parts of Europe quite frankly). Service was really attentive. I was in the mood for a cheese pizza and ordered the four cheese pizza along with a glass of an Italian red blend wine. I love that they serve complimentary olives while you wait for your entree. They were marinated in spices and olive oil and were quite tasty. When my pizza arrived, it looked super cheesy. And that, it was! I can't recall the exact cheeses that were used, but there was a mix of soft and hard cheese. Not your typical American cheese pizza which is exactly what I was looking for. The flavors were on point. The sauce and crust were both tasty. This was a thinner style pizza, so I ate it with a fork and knife. Although I enjoyed the cheesiness, it was a little too cheesy for me. Plus, the types of cheeses used were a bit overwhelming. I think the hard and soft cheese culmination kind of threw me off a bit. It tasted good but all of that cheese was a bit too much for me. I think next time, I'd stick to a Margherita pizza where the cheese wouldn't be so overwhelming. Nevertheless, it was still good. Just like with the olives, they also gave me a complimentary dessert. It was a delicious small cake with a shot of limoncello. Not sure if I was supposed to chug the shot or not, but I poured it over the cake and it was sooo delicious! The cake was moist and it soaked up the limoncello like a sponge. I so enjoyed this little dessert. All in all, Luigi was a nice experience. I'd come back again but would probably order a different pizza with less cheese next time.

This was a bit of a miss for me. We stopped at the location on Via Laietana before walking over to this location, and the Via Laietana location definitely seemed like a much more lively and inviting venue. If I went back I'd go to that location instead. The service was wonderful, our waitress was very kind, patient, and lovely. The food was nothing special. The bruschetta was good, the bolognese sauce was good as well, but the carbonara was very disappointing for me. I did not find it to have much flavor, and the pieces of guanciale were almost all fat. They do offer gluten-free pasta which is very nice!

My Italian colleagues warned me against getting Italian food in Spain, but I didn't want to get tapas for every single meal while in Barcelona. Maybe should have listened. Food was average. Nice ambiance, decent service, cold beer on tap, but food was just okay. We ordered some fried shrimp and calamari to start which was good. The ham pizza was woodfired, yet came out rather soggy when sliced. Salmon & asparagus pasta was okay. Sauce seemed too watery, and pasta didn't seem freshly made. Maybe I was still jet lagged from my flight or it was an off night, but I personally could have lived without coming here. 'Til next time!

Unrendered fat throughout the dish. Yuck!

I needed something other than tapas, and Luigi looked good and pretty well rated. I was also craving some authentic Italian pasta from a visit to Rome this summer, and I saw several of the basic Roman pastas on the menu. What a disappointment. Nice enough place, and good service. Just sub-mediocre food. I got the Bucatini all'amatriciana to eat there, and I also got a Luigi pizza to go. The pizza had ham, tomato, rocket, cheese - it was average. Probably also 3 stars, as the ham was somewhat fatty. For the purpose of this review, though, I'll focus on the pasta. Amatriciana. Simple. Classic. Right? Unfortunately, this was nothing like the beautiful dish I had a few months ago. To start, the sauce did not adhere to the pasta, so not sure how it was prepared. The pasta was pretty flavorless, as was the sauce. Also, there was no crispy guanciale; only pieces of unrendered fat, which was incredibly off putting (see photo). So disappointing. Maybe other dishes are better, but if you can't make something simple, I think there's a problem.

Enjoyed it. Love spanish tapas but this was a nice change. My sister was craving a proper salad and they had a yummy one with pears. Good pizzas. Good pasta. Larger restaurant. Lots of seating but make reservations. There are several locations in Barcelona.

We had an amazing dinner at Luigi. I definitely recommend this restaurant and will gladly return when I am in the area again. The staff is attentive and the food is delicious. The only thing that didn't hit it out of the park was the sangria. It was average ...so I would skip it and go straight for a bottle of wine. We started with fried eggplant, pizza and fried calamari with shrimp. All three came out of the kitchen piping hot and freshly made with excellent ingredients. For entrees we shared linguine/clam sauce, ravioli and steak. The entrees were just as good as the appetizers. Everyone was happy.

The first thing we noticed when we walked in was four or five toddlers ages 2-4 running around in the entrance and on to the sidewalk by the street. There was a table seated directly in the entrance that apparently had multiple Mother's and multiple children, and they were all running around in the front as though it was their personal playground. The parents didn't seem to mind or even notice that their children were running outside of the restaurant and so it was a little bit of a strange entrance for my husband and I when we first walked up. The place had been recommended by some of his classmates, and so we thought we would try it out anyway. We were seated right away, but we were told that we only had an hour to dine since we did not have reservations. We ordered a pizza along with some pasta and a salad. All of the ingredients were not disclosed on the salad and so when it showed up with actual tomatoes, which my husband does not eat.He was a little bit miffed that it had not been disclosed on the menu. Personally, I thought it was great because I love tomatoes, so I ate them, and he did not. The salad itself was quite delicious, having ricotta cheese pinuts and a beautiful sweet and tangy basalmic vinegaret. My pasta was extremely tasty, and I very much enjoyed it. It was creamy and cheesy and very flavourful. And the mushrooms were fresh, and the chicken was tender. The pizza, on the other hand, I suppose, was cooked like many pizzas in this area. The crust was ever so slightly burnt, but the base of the pizza was thin. And almost soggy. It also came out uncut, and so my husband struggled to cut his own pizza with the dinner where that they provided. I saw other people also cutting their own pizza, and so I suppose this was normal for this restaurant, but it just seemed slightly strange to us. The service was not terrible, but it also was not excellent. It just seemed rather average, and so we were indifferent. I'm giving it 3 stars because of the number of children but also during dinner there was a dog that somehow either was a part of someone's group or made it into the restaurant, but was barking and barking, and created quite a disturbance. This went on for 15 minutes.... Well, you decide. If we lived here, we would probably go back.

Amazing Italian food! Service was so quick and food came out super quick! This place was packed Friday night for dinner

Great pizza joint, however we were famished & decided to eat here due to the proximity to our hotel H10 Madison. Started with olive tapas, honestly I person cannot get enough of Spanish olives, olive's lightly seasoned were a welcome to my mouth. Next we had the best salad we have had in some time, the salad was not the usual, this salad had fresh pears & sort of a cream cheese however was much lighter. The greens fresh & crisp. Right amount of tomatoes, olives, I practically ate the entire salad. Salad size could easily feed 2 people. Large salad size. Opted for lasagne which I was expecting to just be ok, again a difference style as this lasagna slices of ham tucked into the pasta, the best meat sauce this hungry traveler had in a while. The single serving is more than enough for one person. The final touch the waiter brought us over some chilled Limoncellos & small lemon cakes, just the right finish touches. Waiter service, spot on, & attentive. Great Italian in Barcelona.

Amazing limoncello shots and limoncello cake on the house.

The food was outstanding! So good that we went back to back evenings. Best Italian food in Barcelona!

Amazing spot!!!! The food, service, and atmosphere are all 10/10. The gnocchi I had was better that some I had in Italy. This place should be more expensive than it is!

My completely finished Moscow mule. All ice! €10 for this!
    K W.

Weird food, rip off drinks. Moscow mule was ALL ice (see photo attached). Ordered a prosciutto pizza... it wasn't prosciutto just wet lunch meat. Weird, gross, and overpriced. Not a fan! Total rip-off. Keep looking for something better... this is a great city with lots of good places to drink. Skip this one.

Dinner for two.. carbonara pasta, pear ravioli, burrata salad and wine.

Also had the Nutella Girella for dessert, pizza crust layered with Nutella and rolled up. It is very sweet, but the dough becomes a little tough. There was a vast selection of square pizzas available for choosing. I chose 3 different types with the knowledge that I was over ordering. All of the flavors ordered were great - especially the one with the extra cheese melted over three top. The dough was a bit thick but crunchy which I loved. Seating-wise, there were seats inside in the back or outside, out front. The outdoor seating has a pretty good view for people watching and socializing, but the indoor seating was warm with it being chilly outside.
