    Bocadillo calamares
    Nikhil D.

An authentic, local spot in Barcelona known for their infamous 'Bocadillo antxon.' As soon as you get to the restaurant, you can tell that this spot doesn't attract tourists. The ambience gives off the vibes of a local gem. Our waiter George also made our experience a lot more fun! He was interested in getting to know us and shared some of his travel stories with us. The bocadillo antxon is the most popular item on the dish: a sandwich with chorizo and a poached egg, sprinkled with thin fries. I thought it was really good, but there were a few of other dishes that were a lot tastier in my opinion. The bocadillo calamares won me over the bocadillo antxon. It was a simple dish -- a sandwich with calamari topped with catalan aioli and (what looks like) squid ink aioli. I highly recommend it, or try both and compare them for yourself. The buñuelos de calamar was another favorite! It's a squid ink fritter that has a creamy texture inside. Definitely have to try this one! Lastly, the pulpo 3 texturas also deserves a shoutout. The octopus was cooked perfectly. In retrospect, this restaurant had the best octopus out of all the restaurants we ate at on our trip. Overall, the food here was really good, but the service and friendliness from our waiter George is why I'm giving this restaurant 5 stars. We had a great first night in Barcelona. Also, definitely get a bottle of wine with your meal. We got a Botella Montsant for 23 euros, a deal you can't get in other parts of the world.

Very old school vibes. Servers had great recommendations. Entrepanes: Calamares - 5/5 Tapas y Platillos: Croquetas con Pollo - 5/5 Patatas Diaz - 4/5 Postres: Leche Frita con Helado de Pistachio - 4/5 Sandwich was delicious but a tad on the small side, not really worth the 9€ price tag. Croquetas were tasty. Crispy fried outside but soft perfectly cooked inside. The pistachio ice cream was really good. The fried milk was good but lacking a sweetness that really could have brought the dish together.

I came here solo to have a tapas dinner recommended from a friend and it did not disappoint. I was seated inside at the bar. I made a reservation 1.5-2 weeks ahead. I really enjoyed the interior design and the 70s/80s music playing inside. Beware for the summer, there is no a/c so outside might be a bit cooler. My server was Jorge and his service made the experience! He went over the menu with me and had a very lively personality. He was attentive and checked in with me at a good pace for me to enjoy my meal. I ordered the following and it came out in this order: 1. Aperol Spritz: this cocktail was quite strong but was yummy and on point of what a usual aperol spritz tasted like. 2. Patatas Diaz: a must order! The potatoes were cooked with a nice cronch and the sauce gave it a nice heat but not too spicy(mild). 3. Pulpo con maiz en texturas y alioli de lima:the octopus was grilled to perfection! It had a nice smokey taste which the corn textures and aioli complimented. 4. Gambas al ajillo with tomato toast: the prawns were very fresh and im glad i ordered the toast to dip into the oil. Was typical besides the prawn quality. (At this point, I was satiated but wanted to try their oxtail) 5. Glass of Cava: delicious as always 6. Rabo de Buey, oxtail sandwich was good but I personally would not order again. If i had more room in my stomach, I would have ordered the oxtail pasta which my friends recommended to me but, it was on the pricer side of the menu. Overall, I really enjoyed my solo dining experience here for their service and food. Although, it is a bit pricer on the tapas end, it is well worth it.

Nice tapas place/ bar. Waiters were very friendly and gave great recommendations. Good location too with a lot of other cute spots around.

Amazing. First of all the ambiance is everything. Old colorful floor tiles, bright red stools, distressed looking mirror. The staff wear uniforms of white button-downs with black bow ties and suspenders. We've got fun music, ceiling fans, and funky lighting. Just lots of love for this hole in the wall with minimal seating. Indoors there's about 5 small tables plus some seating at the small bar, and about 5 tables outside too under a tented area, but the smokers outside were not ideal dining neighbors for us. Entre panes literally translates to "between breads," or sandwich, so it's no surprise that Entrepanes Diaz specializes in sandwiches as part of its more extensive menu. We started with prawn tortas, which were super thin and crispy fritters. The flavor reminded us a bit of RI clam cakes. These were not unlike American seafood fritters, but were totally flat and crispy instead of round and puffy. We also tried the pan con tomate, which is a tried and true favorite, and yet it's always slightly different everywhere we have ordered it. These super crisp thin bread pieces are topped with an ample amount of grated tomato, a drizzle of olive oil, and flakes of sea salt to finish. Simple. Our favorite item of the entire evening (drum rolll!) was the beef stew bomba or potato ball. This has a great combination of flavors and textures with a crispy exterior, and soft interior of mashed potato wrapped around a filling of tender stewed beef. The whole shebang sits atop a spicy mayo and is then topped with a drizzle of something sweet, a dark syrup of some kind, but not sure what. Each bite was a medley of magic, just such good flavor from beginning to end. These bombas are popular here at Entrepanes Diaz, and they were some of our favorite bites of the trip! Let's not forget that they are also known for their sandwiches here, hence the name of the restaurant. The sandwiches are actually quite small, so you can easily eat more than one, or supplement as we did with some additional tapas. The calamari sandwich was my favorite of the two sandwiches we tried. It could have used a touch of acid, but I liked the dryer bread texture which held its own quite well against the filling of fried calamari and two alliolis, a traditional and a black squid ink allioli. Overall this was a great presentation and flavor. We also tried the rabo de buey or oxtail sandwich, which was also good but not my favorite of the two. The bun was filled with tender meat and more of the spicy mayo on top. In general the sandwiches were good but a bit over-hyped in my opinion. The bomba was the best item we tried, and it was impossible to stand up next to that. I would happily recommend this place and would love to return someday.

Oh my goodness! This place is just an absolute gem. Not only was the interior and location stunning but the customer service from our waiter was just outstanding. He went above and beyond and treated us like family. We came here for tapas. We started off with olives (again my fiancé's fav) and "pan con tomate" and OMG soo good. It was rediculously delicous. The bread was a little on the crispy side but so fresh and the tomato that was rubbed on was so perfect. Salty, savory and sweetness all on point! We also order the "croqueta de buey" "Beef Crockett" this was absolutely delicious again small portion but packed with so much flavor! It's basically a stuffed potato ball with beef. It's a similar concept to Colombian "papas rellenas" Our waiter recommended coffee to finish off as it is the tradition here in Spain to have coffee and desert at the end of your meal. He went above and beyond and offered to take our picture and provide us with a little back story of the business. Next time we we are in Barcelona I will be sure to stop by to eat and say hello.

We ordered the fish bomb, meat bomb, and gourmet calamari. SO delicious. We want to go back.

We sat outside and enjoyed our dinner with the locals. Amazing food, great staff and friendly bartender... you can tell they are very passionate and thoughtful.

Came here with my dad for lunch and tried 3 sandwiches - calamares (calamari with squid ink mayo), rabo de buey (oxtail with greens, cheese, and mayo), and antxón (ground pork sausage with poached eggs). The oxtail sandwich was by far the best - the flavorful oxtail gets balanced out by the bitter greens. The calamari sandwich was also very tasty. The antxón is supposedly also popular, but I didn't quite like this one. Service is good and the ambiance is very cozy.

Great tapas & sandwiches place. Initially we were not sure if to stay for dinner since just sandwiches didn't sound so appealing but we sat at the bar (since the resto was full!), the waiter was very friendly and after a glass of good wine "LA COMEDIA" or 2, we ordered a Calamares sandwich, and then another one, with Croquetas and salad, and everything was really tasty. Also the desert brownies were good. The bill is enclosed. Price quality is good, average tapas at ~€7.5 seem very reasonable you me.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.
