Delicious food and great service. Best French food I've had. The restaurant seems to be full of regulars which speaks to the food and experience. Very friendly and skilled staff. Will be back.

I came here on a Friday night by myself. I initially wanted to be seated at the bar, but it was full, so I was promptly seated at a table. The inside is small and cozy. On the menu, they have a pretty large selection of entrees as well as desserts and alcohol. I ordered: House red wine: very good for $12. Steak frites: excellent. The steak was tender, and the red wine sauce was delicious. Gateau l'orange: highly recommend- the cake was soft, warm, and citrusy, and came with a creme anglaise for dipping. The meal came with bread and olive oil, which was also really good. The service was friendly and efficient. Overall, I really enjoyed my entire meal and I will definitely be back. I might like this place better than Le Diplomate....

Steak frites

I came here by myself and was made to feel welcome. The decor is cute, like a little bistro. I had a delicious mocktail and the steak frites were amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly and the super skinny fries were delicious.

This restaurant is just spectacular. I've gone on many occasions whether it's because my family is visiting or I want an intimate and special date night. It is a small restaurant that almost at first glance seems unassuming, but the food is out of this world! Seriously. If you go, you have to get the Canard Rôti à L'Orange. The potato is buttery, the duck is rich, and the sauce is so balanced. The chocolate mousse is decadent... I could go on and on. But if you want authentic and delicious French food, you need to go to La Piquette. The service is always quick and good and the servers have always given really great suggestions on dishes to try. I would argue this is the best French restaurant in the DC area.

We dropped in for Christmas dinner and did not leave disappointed. The ambiance was cozy and inviting. We were seated outside (by choice) where they had blankets and heat lamps. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and jovial. There was a special Christmas menu, but they were out of a few options once we arrived. However, they were happy to make minor substitutions. None of the dishes disappointed and their commitment to quality is notable.

La Piquette was the restaurant highlight of my entire trip (DC,NYC,LV)! It's the quintessential French bistro. We sat next to a mother/daughter/granddaughter from France but now living in DC and it's their "go to" for French food. That's how you know. We had the Canard Roti a l'orange and the Coq au Vin. The duck was tender, cooked to a perfect med rare. It was seasoned well with a little bit of caramelization on the skin. It was fanned on the plate with a wilted kale salad between the duck and the pommes purée. There was an orange vinaigrette in the kale salad that ran out to the duck...aw man was it gooood! The pommes purée was silky and seasoned well. I love Coq au Vin. I made it a couple of times, but only because it's hard to find in Hawaii. My goodness was this dish delicious. Tender and tasty---stewed in good red wine. You could taste more then one layer of umami flavor. It sat in that same silky pommes purée. Mains was paired with French wine that suited each dish perfectly....thanks for the waiters recommendation! We ended the meal with the orange cake. Ummmm....it's good. Like really really good. And it comes out warm with a small dish of fresh cream. Beyond the food, the service was great. Attentive wait staff that made you feel like they were happy we were there. The vibe of the restaurant made you feel like you were in a small town in France. I absolutely loved this place.

As during past visits, we loved the ambience here. Very French & very charming. We had 2 appetizers for the table & neither was a hit. The shrimp ceviche wasn't great & the calamari was entirely forgettable. I had the trout for my entree. It was fine, but not nearly as good as I've had elsewhere. Not memorable. The highlight of the food we ordered were the French fries.

Fricassée de Champignons

The food was pretty good, the environment is nice although a little noisy as it's on a somewhat busy street. I highly recommend the Fricassée de Champignons "Mushrooms" and the Skate wing

Dispelling the myth that French cuisine is pretentious, we felt like we were in a home, and that we would be fed full to the brim. Came in while it was packed late into the night. We were sat immediately and had a wonderful time. Our waitresses were patient and had great recommendations for our first time trying French food. They seem incredibly experienced and added comfort in the way they spoke to their customers and ran their tables. We were even greeted by the owner who was great and cheery to each table he visited. The one night we went, it was incredibly packed with people having intimate, lighthearted, and laughter-filled gatherings, tables with multiple rounds of wine, everyone sharing their fries, and so he should feel proud of this place. Touches like this made it as though we were dining in someone's house. And I love that they start you off generously with bread and butter. Its a type of french loaf that is nice and fluffy, and I'd recommend setting some on the side if you're ordering a brothy dish. We ordered Moules Marinières, which came in a delightfully large cauldron of juicy plump clean muscles swimming in an herbaceous-garlicky white wine sauce. Unassumable from the simplicity of ingredients they threw together, but incredibly complex in flavor. This is one of the few times I actually tasted bay leaf, and amongst the fewer times I found the use of rosemary not be so overpowering. The mussel liquor at the bottom was perfect when soaked up in bread. What an incredible dish. We also tried a classic, Le Steak Maison, which was also distinctively flavorful. Our steak had a perfect cook at medium rare, and was uniquely seasoned with some sort of blend of herbes de provence. The fries were pretty standard and substantial, but paired with the Béarnaise sauce, it was such a tangy play of richness and acidity. Again really simple ingredients just executed so well. Great job, looking forward to coming again to try more on this large menu.

I wouldn't go back. Food was fine, service was pretty awful. I walked in and was seated at the bar. Rachal, the bartender, greeted me with a glass of water and asked me if I wanted a drink while I studied the menu. The restaurant space is very charming, giving off Parisian vibes. I ordered the Artichaut à la Grecque as a starter and the Salade Lyonnaise. The artichoke dish was simply delicious... steamed perfectly and accompanied by my new favorite sauce, sauce Ravigote. The whole plate was beautiful, but the way the sauce enhanced the flavor of the artichoke, not mask it, was just perfect execution. After taking my time with the artichoke, I switched over to the Lyonnaise salad... also simply perfect! The frisée was crisp and the lardons were cooked well. I'd say the only issue was the poached egg was a tad overcooked, but ever so slightly and it didn't ruin the dish. I sat at the bar after finishing both dishes and felt so much satisfaction from the food. The bonus was the lovely conversation I had with Rachal, at least until the rush of people started showing up... when I walked into the restaurant, it was quite empty, but when I left there was a line around the corner and every table was packed. I know why... If you're in DC, you have to dine here, you will not regret it!

I ordered the Plait Americain and I enjoyed that for brunch. Happy hour took me by surprise got a nice burger for like $14 and then French 75 for $8, let me tell you those were the strongest French 75 I've ever had. It had me knocked out for 6 hours straight! There was no excitement, positivity or welcoming words. No one in the restaurant said happy Mother's Day or even Hello - they looked exhausted and like they were just trying to get through the evening. Perhaps they were overwhelmed and understaffed, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The good: - clean seating area - quick check-in - espresso martinis and the French 75 were good cocktails - the vegan entree was good - the mashed potatoes were good The bad: - seated for three people at a table with two of the seats not fitting, one diner had to endure the meal with half of their back against a protruding wall and on a bench seam. - appetizer tray showed up missing one of the four appetizers, when we asked about it, they commented that they were out of it. They brought us some more cheese puffs. We would not have ordered that had we known. - we had to summon the waiter to take our entrée order well after the appetizers had been completely cleared - we had to share Waters when we could not get refills after trying a couple times - atmosphere was bland, didn't seem like effort went into the decor or the experience The ugly: - their signature dish was ordered medium rare: it could not be cut with the table knife and there was no steak knife because it's supposed to be a melt in your mouth dish. It was well done and had to be returned. From our seats, we could watch them inspecting it and talking while one of them rolls their eyes. They bring out another one that was cooked to order. - when we got the bill, they charged for both steaks which was an $82 charge. - again, we have to find somebody to help us with the check. There were no apologies and no offer for compensation for the appetizer, the service, the food, the overcharging, anything. It was really sad because that was to be a very special meal for me and it would be easy to at least try to make things right. :( Please know there are other things I am not including in this review because we are a family that has all worked in the service industry. I hate giving a negative review, but no way around this one. And, yes... my son left a substantial tip. We aren't jerks. :)

They also seated us at a table for 8 at first even though the reservation was for 10 people that was also not in the area where the live music was although that was what the reservation advertised.
