I had not been in La Perla in ages but we decided to eat here during Labor Day since most restaurants were closed and oh am I glad we did! The food has improved so much since the last time I was here. We ordered the leche de tigre and the portion is very generous. The dish has a lot of lime so it is not for everyone but we love it! We also ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was amazing. My very picky eater child had the grilled chicken breast with rice and fries and then had Gad of the churrasco that came with the Tacu Tacu we ordered and he said he loved all of his food (music to my ears). I ordered a white sangria that was a bit too sweet for me but not bad. We also got the ceviche pucusana which was truly delicious and I will order again in a heartbeat. I am already making a list for the next time we have dinner there. read more

Review in English and Spanish. My review comes in two parts. The food here is delicious 9/10. But to charge someone $80+ for 3 "large trays" of their arroz chaufa, and they are half empty? Ridiculous. I was about to drive the food back and demand a refund, but my whole family stopped me. This is disrespectful to the customer. Good food, but be careful when placing a phone orders as they tell you one price and when you pick up it is different. Ive been ordering and dining in here for 1 1/2 years since my office is so close. I always order the same thing but today I wanted something different. The person I spoke to on the phone told me 1 total ($12) and when I got to the location to pick up my food, they charge me $17. I know mistakes happen, but hey tried absolutely nothing to rectify the situation, which is the upsetting part How is this $5.95 worth of chicken to add to a salad ?? Also what place charges $6 for "1/2" a piece of chicken at least make it the whole piece. Visited La Perla at the suggestion of a co-worker which is sort of a rare occurrence for me. I didn't even have them bookmarked (shocking I know) so I was intrigued to try some of their fair. They have great indoor and outdoor dining spaces. We made it in time for happy hour - $10 for two glasses of house wine which was shockingly good. Score! We started with the plantain chips and their delightful garlic-ey dipping sauce. You could tell the chips were freshly fried and super tasty. Couldn't stop eating them. I also ordered the Seafood Chaufa at my coworkers suggestion. It was quite good and a very large portion. I was a little disappointed with the quantity of fish/shrimp/muscles in the dish; it was mostly calamari rings and didn't have much flavor. He got the Churrasco steak which was very flavorful and their black beans were also great. Overall, the experience was quite good for the price and the quality of food. We went two days in a row, that's how good the food was. We had ceviche mixto to start, then lomo salteado and chaufa de camarón. One portion is so generous that we shared between 2 people and were quite satisfied. Finished with a silky smooth flan, made in house by the owner. The servers were quick, efficient and very nice. As soon as I walked in I was amazed by their decor, it was valentines weekend and they had the whole place decorated with balloons and wine bottle on the table, I could just feel the love in the air. I am a sangria lover and this one was one of the best ones I've tried , it had the perfect amount of apples and perfect amount of wine My favorite Peruvian dish is the Jalea Mixta and just like the sangria it did not disappoint, the only thing is that if you want more "dressing" for the jalea they'll charge you a few cents for it Other than that everything went great Friendly staff too. read more

Ok so I absolutely love the ceviche pucusana (yellow pepper sauce), and I order a side of green plantains to accompany it. UberEats has been my way of getting this since the pandemic and it comes really well packed. Their strawberry walnut salad is DELICIOUS. I mean - really. A must have if ordering salad for a side in a large group order. I think the quality of the meat in the lomo saltado could be better - maybe I haven't had any luck with it...but when paired with the green jalapeño sauce it is good. The absolute worse experience. Based on the experience and the quality of the food tonight not sure how they are in business. From a Parihuela soup that tasted literally blander than hospital soup to cold rice, salty chicken and a server who really never bothered to stop by or offer a solution after I told him that the soup was tasteless and terrible. I came back here after 2 years to give this place a chance and I regret coming here. If you want Peruvian food go anywhere else but this place. Self discipline is a prerequisite that one must possess prior to dine at La Perla as the temptation for over indigence is much harder to resist than one could imagine. Peruvian cuisine is the ideal bridge between South American culture and Asian culinary art; on one hand there is the undeniable similarity between the sushi and ceviches or the chaufa con carne and fried rice, each displays uncanny resemblance while coexists in a prefect harmony. On the other hand, the stark contrast is also quite visible in the deployment of French fries soaked in the juicy of sautéed beef chunks or the cheese-covered grilled octopus and roasted potatoes. Yet, in either case they all leave the taste buds begging for more....and the more one shall receive, as these dishes are meant to be shared amongst close acquaintances and not to be consumed purely out of self gratifications. Been here twice! It's that good y'all! I love their Ceviche choices snd their extensive Pisco Sour combinations. Creative in their own way. Open gally kitchen and a casual family vibe in this restaurant. For father's day snd my birthday we ordered their large sampler. (Picture attached). The second time I went there to reunite with my childhood friends after 30 years of being apart. I didn't want to trust such an important event to just any restaurant with a reputation. Hands down favorite Peruvian restaurant we have visit. It gets very busy so call for a reservation or you will be sitting outside until they are able to sit you. The service is excellent. Tried the appetizer Chichaoron de pescado and I could've eaten the whole thing because it was so delicious. Lightly breaded and super soft. We ate the Tricolor with Corvina and has 3 sauces and every sauce had it unique flavor. Even if they touch the flavors blend well together. Ceviche was very fresh and delicious. I had the lomo saltado and it was absolutely delightful. Writing this review I am craving all the flavors all over again. No cocktails are served but the white wine selection is very good. read more

Continuing our new tradition of trying a new restaurant on the first Friday of the month, for January we decided on Peruvian food and the reviews on Yelp for La Perla convinced us to give the place a try. One of our requirements during the current pandemic is that the restaurant must have outdoor seating. La Perla has a nice outdoor dining area. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. I ordered a Peruvian beer and checked out the menu. I decided to try the Mis Tacus a golden blend of white beans, white rice & scallions, sautéed in a wok with extra virgin olive oil with Churrasco. The steak was perfectly cooked and the rice and beans mixture was a delicious new experience for me. I liked it a lot. My wife had the Saltados, shredded beef in a flambé with soy sauce with onions, tomatoes, cilantro served with rice & fries. She also ordered a side of fried plantains. She said everything was very good. I noticed a lot of other things on the menu and will be back to try them out. read more

What's happening to this place? It's just not the same anymore. We've been coming here for 6 years and we order take out frequently but recently, the quality AND quantity of the food has gone down. We ordered take out today. The seafood chaufa had hard, rubbery calamari pieces, it had around 3 shrimps, no mussels, and a lot less rice than usual. The order of papa huancaina had small pieces of potatoes with ONE tiny piece of egg that looked like someone tore it with their fingers. I'm sorry I didn't take pictures. Did management change? It's just not the same anymore. I don't think we're going to order from here anymore. read more

My wife really enjoyed this restaurant. We ate outside, had great service, great drinks and awesome food. Wife raved about the Causa A-1 with avocado and tuna. I had the filete pescado a lo macho (fish filet with shellfish-calamari, shrimp, and mussels) which was first-rate. The red sauce it comes with is delicious and not at all pepper-hot. It was served with rice as well as a lightly fried cassava that was yummy. The food was so good that we decided to try the flan which was similarly excellent. The jalea mixta is a friend mix of fish, calamari, shrimp, and some mussels. If you get the green spicy sauce, double check your order. It's really yummy with the fried seafood. We came here for lunch on a Saturday and were seated right away. I am not very familiar with Peruvian food so I had some trouble looking at the menu. Thank goodness for Yelp, I decided to look through all the food pictures to order. Turned out that it was a special dish that they could make, and he brought my phone to the chef to confirm that. The dish was a risotto that was reduced with 3 different kinds of mushrooms and shrimp and garlic. Nonetheless, the dish WAS THE BEST THING EVER. I don't think I have had something with such flavors. The shrimp was very fresh, and the risotto was cheesy. The sauce around was very garlic-y and creamy. The portion was huge, could definitely have split it with another person. We also had the Lobster Ceviche for appetizer. They were so generous with the lobsters, the flavor was amazing and I loved the texture of the Peruvian corn. Great customer service and wonderful food.
