I made a reservation because came on a Saturday night and I wanted to make sure I didn't have to wait. My table was ready for me, that was great. I ordered a pisco sour that was perfectly made. My appetizer was a fish and shrimp ceviche: the leche de Tigre was soooo fresh and well balanced, I absolutely loved it. Main course I was pleasantly surprised to see there was an option of a plate with half tallarines verdes and half lomo saltado (the menu says "steak" and you can choose how you'd want it); I've never seen this kind of split-a-plate before so I thought I'd be perfect because you get to try two things, it's a great value. Both the tallarines and the lomo were flavorful. I just wished there was some way to keep the juices from the lomo away from the tallarines because at the bottom of the plate the pasta tasted like lomo, not like pesto hahaha -still, yummy-. Against by best judgement and my capacity I ordered dessert and the dulce de leche was a little too sweet for me (I couldn't finish it) but I ordered a coffee too, that helped. The staff was on point; I loved they were always checking on us (and the place was almost full) and I also noticed they use intercoms so they are always making each other aware of what a table needs. The owner (or manager, not sure) is very sweet and greeting all customers. The bar service seems to be tons of fun, I noticed a few couples having drinks and enjoying the evening. It has been a while since the last time I was here and I really enjoyed my visit this time. They have a good size patio area which is great for this time of year in South Florida and the service we got from our waiter Martin was excellent. He was very helpful and efficient. As far as food, they have a Combo menu that includes a list of about 15 different dishes and you get to choose 3 for $20. This combo menu is available until 7 pm. In addition to their large list of traditional Peruvian dishes, they have a separate menu for Chifa (Chinese-peruvian fusion) dishes, as well as, sushi rolls. All of the dishes we tried were very well prepared and the restaurant atmosphere was casual and relaxed. Nice choice if you are looking for traditional peruvian food. read more

Oh well. We love La Perla and just because today the anticuchos were not tender we will continue to favor this restaurant... but the anticuchos today were hard :( And we came for anticuchos- so they are down one star today. Having said that: we came for a quick lunch at a good old favorite and were positively surprised by these news: there's a new lunch menu! There are now some Chifa options!! (I took pictures of the Chifa menu but have not tried them yet: but how exciting!!) and we tried their chocolate cake and it was SOoooo GOOD!!! We only ordered the anticuchos and the jalea from the lunch menu: it was enough for lunch, and very delicious! So we had "room" for desert..: and we chose the chocolate cake. Let me tell you that it was GOOD! Peruvian style with dulce de leche between the layers like we wanted, and fudge on top: oh yea: this will be our new favorite and at $9 we may just stop by to take a slice to-go! The outside space is now (December) quite comfortable to sit at, so we are looking forward to many end of year specials here. Good stuff!! This restaurant can be a hit or miss. I have tried their choritos à la chalaca and they are very good. However, their arroz con pollo is horrible. Nothing like the traditional dish taste like. I have tried other foods at this place which can also be whether good or very bad. Service has always been pleasant. At some point, I worked in the area and would come here from time to time. I remembered it being okay, and never really went out of my way to come back. Today, I was in the area and decided to stop in. The restaurant is pleasant enough. But the food is just average. While I suppose they're known for the ceviche, I opted for their take on paella. It was reminiscent of paella. I'll give them that. The menu said it was a collection of fish, mussels, shrimp, and calamari. It didn't mention octopus but there it was; I don't eat octopus. Fine I picked it out. The rest of the seafood had a texture like it had been frozen. And the fish was swai- the cheapest farmed fish from Asia. And it absolutely tasted like it was frozen. It just didn't work in this dish. Also, it felt a little oily to me. At the price point, it just wasn't worth it. I won't be returning. read more

Who knew this place offers a lunch menu? I usually come for dinner and was unaware until I received the lunch menu. The place was definitely less busy but still great service. I ordered from the lunch menu $20 where you can pick 3 things. I had the fish ceviche, the rice with shrimp, and the causa with chicken. I will say that was my least favorite. Even though it was chicken, it tasted like tuna and I was not a fan of the sauce they placed on top. I wish he would have told me that when I ordered. This third item I chose at his suggestion and had never had it before. Not a fan of it. The other items were delicious. this was my first time trying peruvian food, so my friend ordered for the whole table. this was such an amazing experience. the staff were super kind, they were very attentive to our needs and they were understanding even though our requests might've been overwhelming with our table of 10. they always made sure to clear our table and ask if we needed anything else. my favorite dish was the causa la perla. it's unlike anything i've ever had before. the flavor and texture of the mashed potatoes goes so well with the proteins, the sauce was super delicious, and i feel like all the individual flavors really got to shine. i'm not much of a seafood person, but i really enjoyed my time here. this is a good place to come for a dinner date or with friends. i would definitely recommend it! read more

The attention from the very beginning was very attentive. We sat at the bar and we ordered right away. My husband ordered a ceviche and I ordered the steak saltado. The steak was delicious and tender. The fries were dripping in the sauce and the rice was very garlicky which I love! It is a big portion so definitely share if you want to. Ordered 2 cau cau and a seco to go, when I got home the cau caus were mostly potatoes with little meat. I was driving to Naples so I could not go back to show them. If you place a to go order make sure you check. It's clear that the other reviewers may have never tried Peruvian food, or anything close, which I don't blame them because it's hard to find. Food was honestly bad, overcharging for that quality of food. My table got an aji de gallina, no aji apparently, because it was the most bland dish I have tasted in a while. Server decided to tell me it's an ingredients issue because we are in the US, I can't agree because I cook a better version myself with the same American ingredients. We also got a seco de res, which ironically was dry, flavor was ok at best. They still charged us full price, even with the complaints. Disgraceful to Peruvian culture, this is not what Peruvian food tastes like in the slightest. Come here only for the decor, NOT GOOD PERUVIAN FOOD. read more

Came here for lunch with my coworkers. There were two lunch specials - you have to ask. It's a littttle pricey but a TON of food so it evens out. My coworker got chicken tossed in teriyaki with rice and French fries. It had peppers and onions. Very delicious. I got the lunch portion of a fried fish dish - it was fried calamari, white fish, and it came with 4 sticks of yuca. Crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside - fried perfectly! Well we decided to stop by La Perla today for lunch and I have to say it was awesome. My wife joined me today and we decided to try the "Sampler # 54", which consists of a Corvina Mixed Ceviche with Crab Leg, the Jalea Mixta, Octopus Peruvian Style and "La Causa" Potato and Shrimp Appetizer in a pink sauce. "La Causa" was De-Li-Cious! Honestly, all the sampler food items were awesome and we had plenty leftover as it was pretty big. We basically shared this sampler item for lunch (and took some home) but I think this appetizer in particular is great for a party of four if you plan on having a main course. La Perla does not disappoint as both the food and the service were excellent even though the restaurant was very busy. Plan on stopping by if you have not checked them out yet. I had not been in La Perla in ages but we decided to eat here during Labor Day since most restaurants were closed and oh am I glad we did! The food has improved so much since the last time I was here. We ordered the leche de tigre and the portion is very generous. The dish has a lot of lime so it is not for everyone but we love it! We also ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was amazing. My very picky eater child had the grilled chicken breast with rice and fries and then had Gad of the churrasco that came with the Tacu Tacu we ordered and he said he loved all of his food (music to my ears). I ordered a white sangria that was a bit too sweet for me but not bad. We also got the ceviche pucusana which was truly delicious and I will order again in a heartbeat. We went two days in a row, that's how good the food was. We had ceviche mixto to start, then lomo salteado and chaufa de camarón. One portion is so generous that we shared between 2 people and were quite satisfied. Finished with a silky smooth flan, made in house by the owner. The servers were quick, efficient and very nice.
