Sangria m, pan con tomate
Leland L.

I was in Barcelona last year and came here for a lunch since it was close to where we were staying - the food was so good that I came back a year later! This was the best pan con tomate I've had in Spain! The tomatoes and garlic are so fresh. The indecisivo paella is great and comes with chicken and prawns. The rice in the pan is so flavorful! If I find myself back in Barcelona again I would probably come back a third time.

We had dinner at this place for their paella since that's what we were looking for and what could be a better place than the one with paella in it's name. We arrived around 7 PM, early for the normal dinner time for locals which was probably why we got a table. This place seemed to be very busy otherwise given that many parties before us all had reservation. We ordered bread with tomato and garlic sauce. I really like garlic and was blown away by the garlic sauce. It has very strong garlic aroma but did not taste like pure garlic spread but instead tasted like garlic butter. We also ordered Arros al forn which has pork ribs, blood sausage, potatoes, tomato and chickpeas. It was really delicious and exactly what we were looking for. The only room for improvement for us was the blood sausage which was too salty for us. We ended up not finishing the blood sausage for that exact reason. Overall we were very happy with the paella.

This restaurant specializes in paella and has more than 20 options. The bar serves a wide variety of Spanish and Mediterranean alcohols. We opted for the cod salad, goat cheese, and citrus for starters. The cod is salted and provides a less balance to the citrus. One salad is large enough for 2 to 3 people. Although the La Negra is a popular paella, we went with our server's recommendation for the award winning La Roja. The prawn sauce reduction was truly amazing. We topped off our meal with shots of local alcohols. The food, service, and atmosphere were delightful.

I'll be thinking about this paella for a long time! We came right off the plan and needed to stay up to try to beat jet lag so we stopped here for lunch after checking into our hotel in the area. We got the standard, rojo paella and it was so flavorful and had the crispy pieces of rice that I love from a good paella. The shrimp and prawns were such a good add and again, so fresh and flavorful. We ordered the bread that came with tomate and aioli and enjoyed that as well.

It's my second time here in Barcelona, and I was very excited to eat paella.. we stayed at the hotel Clarins. The staff recommended La paella de su a good place to eat and it is a walking distance from the hotel. We were sold! When we got there, they took us and sat us right away, very friendly staff. The place is cozy, they have two story, downstairs is more for smaller crowds, and upstairs is more for bigger crowds... Food wise, it's was good, we had octopus it's very recommended, it was delicious , calamari was a little tough, I've had better. Now, Paella, it was ok, I wasn't as pleased as the octopus. The rice was not cooked well, burnt on the bottom of the pan, so you can taste the burnt risotto. Taste wise, it's good.. seasoned well. Then, we had the cream brûlée, it tasted ok, they torched the sugar to long, it was bitter. Although my family loved their drinks.

After extensively researching all the paella spots in search of the best, we settled on this one to try during our time in Barcelona. We came around 3pm and it wasn't too crowded, but there were still plenty of people inside. We ordered a sangria pitcher to start, and for paella we got the valencia style one with rabbit and chicken, as well as the squid ink one which had calamari. It took around 40 minutes to make, and when they came out they were absolutely massive and beautiful. I loved how they made the layers so thin so that there was a nice crispy rice bottom! The flavors of both were incredible - the squid ink was super rich and seafood-y and the calamari pieces were cooked to perfection. On the other hand, the valencia style one was super cozy and comforting with good seasoning and flavor. I really really enjoyed both. I would definitely recommend this spot for some great authentic paella! They were nice enough to let us try the two different flavors amongst the 3 of us. Delicious!

Day two visiting Barcelona, so that means day 2 on Yelp for recommendations. My family was looking for some authentic paella and saw that Yelpers recommended this spot not far from my hotel. The paella dishes are priced per person, and served in different diameter sizes for the table. We were a party of 4, so we ordered 2 paella dishes with the serving size of 2 people per dish, and just shared. It was approx $29 USD per person. We ordered their most popular paella, which was the seafood paella with red sauce, and ordered the black ink squid paella recommended from Youtube. Both did not disappoint. Personally, I liked the flavor of the red sauce better then the black ink squid, but both were super flavorful.

Classic paella for two

We were looking for a top notch place to have paella when in Barcellona and based on the reviews we decided to try La Paella de Su. We're glad we did! The evening starting a bit tough as we wanted to get a bottle of wine and the bottle that our server recommended ended up not being available (after she broke the cork in the bottle on the last available bottle). We picked another bottle and moved on from there...although it took quite a while to get any wine finally poured!). After that, all was good. The escarole salad was amazing and we also go the classic paella, which we ate every last bite and scaped the pan too. Bottom line: Very solid place that we'd go back to again!

We really enjoyed eating here. The food was great and the service was good. It was my first time having rabbit and it was so good. I can't wait to eat rabbit again and to go back here again one day. The place is also very cute and comfy.

I came here to try local, authentic paella and this place did not disappoint. My group of 4 ordered the seafood and sausage/meat paella, and it was absolutely fantastic. The ambience is very warm and inviting, accompanied by a waiting staff who are more than friendly. For dessert, we all tried their chocolate mousse cake which might be some of the best I have ever had. Next time I am in Barcelona, I will make sure to top by and make this a consistent dinner spot.

Braised octopus
Cin C.

I think this was one of the best meals I've had in Barcelona, absolutely worth it for the experience of a well made paella. We had the braised octopus to start and the "Quello del bar sulla spiaggia" paella. The braised octopus was different than what I'm use to, served with sweet potato and ginger parmentier with a kick of spice. The meat is tender but still firm, very different than when grilled. The paella translates to "The one from the beach bar". It has prawns, langoustines, and squid. Each portion is 22.50EU but so very good. You can watch them cook it in the open kitchen. The seafood broth soaks into each kernel of rice, giving a deep sea umami flavor that is unmatched. Plenty of seafood on top to pair with the rice. I love that they serve it in the hot skillet as it stays hot throughout the meal. Pair with the local beer with lemon for a great meal!

***I'm writing this review now but I visited this place back in October 2022*** This place deserves all the stars! So we encountered this little place by pure coincidence. We were rushing to catch a Barcelona soccer (futbol) match and entered La Paella de Su looking for a table for two. This quaint, family-owned gem of a restaurant was the perfect choice. The owner herself quickly helped us get a table and ensured we got a speedy service. The sangria was delicious and I thought the paella was something else!! I would def come back here if I am ever in Barcelona. They got us just in time for the match and while we waited for our food they made us feel at home- they all seem to love what they do!

During a recent visit to Barcelona, having paella was on top of our list. I grew up enjoying paella and later on in life, my husband learned cooking paella at home. We were staying at a hotel nearby and La Paella de Su was a few blocks away from our hotel. The staff were friendly and welcoming when we walked in for dinner. The dining room was small, but lovely. You are charged per person and served family style (pan size will depend on the number of people sharing). We started with the battered aubergine and zucchini seasoned with cane honey - this was really good... nice crunch and flavor. We ordered the paella with prawn and squid. Rice had nice texture and had the color and flavor from the prawn juice. This paella wasn't "soupy" unlike other ones we have tried. We highly recommend this place!

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.

Taverna El Glop wraps you up in its warm, lively atmosphere the second you walk in. We were a group of four, and from start to finish, we had an awesome time. The open kitchen is a great touch -- you can watch the chef in action, which adds to the energy and makes the whole experience feel more connected and authentic. We shared a bunch of dishes, and everything was on point. The paella was rich and delicious -- exactly what we came for. The patatas bravas were crispy, creamy, and gone in seconds, and the shishito peppers were the perfect salty, snacky starter. Of course, we had to get a pitcher of sangria (okay, maybe two), which was fruity, refreshing, and just strong enough to keep things festive. The space itself has this great, rustic charm -- complete with checkered tablecloths and even an old cigarette machine near the bar (haven't seen one of those since I was a kid -- aren't those banned in the U.S. now?). I don't smoke -- smoking sucks -- but it added a bit of unexpected nostalgia and character. Service was excellent. I always make a point to be friendly, ask people their names, and introduce myself -- and that's usually met with warmth. It definitely was here. The staff were quick, kind, and seemed to enjoy the place as much as we did. Personally, I loved it.
