La Nopalera has become one of our regular spots. We come about once a month, give or take, and every single visit has been consistently fantastic. The food is always delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are very affordable. It's the kind of place where you know you're going to leave full and happy every time. The staff is always welcoming and genuinely kind, which makes a big difference. Priscilla in particular is absolutely amazing. She is incredibly sweet, attentive, and truly makes every visit feel special. She even remembers our names when we come in, which says a lot about how much she cares about the customers. She's a sincere asset to the restaurant. Between the consistently great food, excellent service, and warm atmosphere, La Nopalera is a place we always look forward to visiting. It's a cool spot, and location, you can sit outside or inside. There is parking in the back of the building, if you can't find parking in the front. If you park in the back, make sure you walk all the way to the end, it's the last door. We got seated right away! our chips and salsa came quickly. They have a lot of options on the menu. It took me longer to choose my meal, than it took for my meal to come out! lol I ordered #4 Chicken enchilada, tostada, and 2 tacos. Rice and beans on the side. This is a pretty good place. They have a lot of options on the menu. Usually this is a bad thing but they do everything well here. Tuesday they have 3 tacos for 7.99. You can choose chicken or ground beef, hard shell or soft shell. They even let us mix it up. These are not street tacos but they have lettuce meat and cheese only. Tasty and filling. We also ordered a Chile relleno. They are a little different here. You can get them stuffed with beef, chicken or cheese. Then they are topped with a red sauce and cheese. Pretty good. read more

Having allergies make it very hard.. but when she had a question she was quick to ask, and then verify that I could eat it. She did a great job taking care of us. Worst dining experience we've had in ages! We decided to give La Nop one more chance. Huge(costly) mistake! Server brought our drinks. Disappeared. Another young man brought our food. It was ok. Ambience is LOUD!! Like headache inducing loud. We decided we couldn't take anymore. So after asking for takeout boxes and our drinks to go, we paid the check and handed the receipt to the Manager... telling him of the poor service. Now we can say goodbye to this place forever! My husband and I have become regulars here! The food is great and the service is always friendly and fast. The margaritas are generous- they will sneak up on you! The front parking area always looks full but there's parking around back of the building which actually takes you past the outdoor seating area, which is next to a pond. It's such a nice vibe that you'd miss if you just came in the front door. We've never had anything bad off this menu and when I have coworkers in town from other areas, this is our go-to. Enjoyed experience. Several staff worked together to serve us meal. They were busy and it was a Monday evening! We were seated inside near the back. Outside seating looked nice too overlooking pond in back. Within 2 min we had water with chips/salsa on our table. Waiter took our drink order. That hand crafted strawberry margarita was amazing! Unfortunately I got food poisoning from this location a few hours after consuming only one of their asada tacos today. It made me sick. I just threw up the entirety of the taco... it made my drive back to Georgia very unpleasant I had a sour stomach about an hour after eating here and had to make frequent stops due to stomach upset. . I am used to eating Mexican food in CA and have never had any problems but unfortunately I think I I just caught a bad batch of the asada today. The asada tacos were mostly fatty pieces too from what I have. Service was decent it was slow as I would assume for a Tuesday afternoon. I personally thought this place was ok flavor wise in general. They were grilling fresh fajitas, making fresh tortillas, etc. The complimentary chips and salsa is very tasty, very mild yet flavorful salsa. I got the fajita burrito with chicken - tasty chicken and bell peppers and onions inside. There was A LOT of rice, so be prepared for that. It was really big and filling! The chicken and steak fajitas were huge portions - likely could feed a family of four haha. They came with a big, sizzling platter of meat, bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes. It also came with a side of refried beans and rice, and a Mexican salad - lettuce, queso fresco, guacamole (not fresh made by the looks and taste of it), and a big slice of fresh tomato. I was worried after reading some of the reviews on this restaurant. I had never eaten here before, but we were looking for somewhere different than our normal Mexican restaurant. I will say some of these critics must have gone on an off night, because everyone at our table agreed this would be our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Service was great and the food was good. We were worried about our waitress, she had a 10 topper seated right after us, but she didn't fail to keep our drinks full and chip baskets filled. She checked on us every time she walked by. We really enjoyed their tortillas, as you can watch the abuela make them by hand, and they definitely were yummy. My wife and daughter in-law split some kind of stone pot dish that could have easily fed 3. My daughter and son both had tacos and said they were delish. I also enjoyed their $10.49 pitchers of beer. Probably the worst experience I ever had at a restaurant. The server had a nasty attitude like she didn't want to take our orders and acted like she didn't want to answer the questions we had. She was kind of rushing us to decide on what to order and giving us one worded responses. She seemed very annoyed and kept huffing and puffing even though we literally just sat down. My boyfriend didn't like the margita and wanted to order a different one, she stated they have a new policy where if you don't like the food/drink you still have to pay for it and cannot be replaced for another item. She took forever to come back, and was talking crap in Spanish to her coworkers. And we decided to just leave before our food came out and they were trying to make us still pay for it even though it hasn't even been made or brought out. read more

I love La Nopalera and I'm so happy this location is so close to home! Hubby and I have been here many times and it's always consistently delicious. No matter how busy they are, we never wait very long for a table or our food. The chips & salsa are excellent, it's hard to resist a second basket. Their tacos are the best! They served them up loaded! I usually order 3 tacos with Mexican rice & refried beans. I end up taking a taco home with me every time. The al pastor and chorizo are my favorite meats. The asada and carnitas are also up there for me. The quesadilla rellena is amazing! Get it with steak fajitas, you won't regret it. The refried beans are super flavorful as is their fluffy Mexican rice. These are must try side items! Hubby loves their enchiladas supreme which comes with 4 enchiladas containing different fillings - cheese, chicken, beef and bean. All great, my favorite the cheese. I've been to La Nop more times than I can remember, I just honestly forgot to do a review and my food pictures are hidden amongst thousands. I love this place most because when you walk in you can see a woman (usually) making fresh tortillas through the glass and you can literally watch them cook if you stand there long enough. There's literally nothing to hide at this location. The interior is beautiful, clean and modern and they have outside seating on the water that is really relaxing. I always get the frozen peach and strawberry margarita and the churros. I love the carnitas tacos most the meat is plentiful and perfectly seasoned, you could literally break it down between 2/3 tortillas. The asada is great too and seasoned to perfection. In my opinion the carnitas and rice and beans is some of the best I've had in DUVAL and I judge a Mexican joint a lot based off their rice and beans and the chips and salsa. It's a trip you won't regret! The customer service is always on point, the margaritas are Strong and packed with flavor, the chips and salsa is great while you wait and you're guaranteed to have leftovers. read more

The drinks are really good though and the salsa was tasty, but my entree lacked the flavor punch I wanted. I got the carne asada tacos no cilantro. The meat could definitely have some additional seasoning, and I wish the steak was little more tender. The corn tortillas were pretty good, and I enjoyed the side of hot sauce that came with the tacos, but the meat just didn't have the flavor profile that I was looking for. I also order a quesadilla to go with chicken to try tomorrow. I'm hoping it will be tasty. I think it's fair to try a few item before you make a huge impression on a place, so fingers crossed I will enjoy the quesadilla. read more

The service staff is equal to a small army and everything was kept filled, food came out hot, The menu was EXTENSIVE, but what I thought was most interesting was they had a vegetarian section, like a full blown multi option vegetarian menu. But what about the food: Chips - plentiful, will be at your table when you sit down Salsa - slight kick, fresh, good California Burrito - Huge portion, my sons go to. He eats a ton, he never finishes this dish. Vegetarian Fajitas - enough for three people, I mean really huge, really well cooked and well seasoned. Spinach Quesadilla - okay, well made, cooked to perfection but way too salty. I like salt, but this was just too much. One of our new favorite Mexican spots. We got there and I had the special #1 (Taco and chili releno) and my wife had the special #5. Service was very friendly and the portions are large. The food was tasty and hot.
