The restaurant was quiet, only opening within the hour. The decor is lively and cultural. I walked in for takeout and ordered the chicken chimichanga with guacamole salad. I made a special request for SPICY sauce. The employee suggested a habañero salsa! My whole face smiled! The dish was nicely prepared and presented. The shredded chicken was seasoned sufficiently and tasted well. The dish was accompanied by chips and salsa. It was good and filling. read more

Okay, me and the family tried this place out and we enjoyed ourselves. I had the Casa Maria Dinner & I enjoyed it plus reasonably priced. The server was great and she had a professional attitude to where I had to tip her. The place was very nice and started to get crowded as we were finishing up. We were comfortable here in the atmosphere that was given off. Yes, we will be returning because the food was delicious and service was great; I recommend this place. read more

This place always Messes up my order! They never put the meat in my tostadas! Whoever is working back there really sucks! Please fire them. I'm tired of getting my food without ground beef in it.! I'm seriously thinking about not ordering from you guys anymore! Tighten up read more

Food here is always really good and for an amazing price. My partner and I have been going here for over a year since we moved into the area and it has never disappointed. We've only been helped by Jordan twice but he always goes above and beyond and we make sure to tip accordingly. We went for cinco de mayo twice and it was really fun! They usually have good music playing as well. read more

Went for lunch today. Prices were significantly higher then the menu photos we found, bit they seemed unrealistic. Expect an adult plate to run $13-20 and kids about $8. Lots of specials to ask about. 2 for one drafts and margaritas (2/$12). They weren't very large but tasted good. The chips and salsa were ok. I've had better and the salsa had a bit of a kick to it so our kiddo wasn't interested in it. The biggest gripe I had, was the salsa dish was a light weight plastic, so when I went to dip, it slid on the table. 3 or 4 chips later and it looked like I was hugging the dish all to myself. Never thought I'd be critiquing the weoght I'd a dish on here haha. The cali burrito was average. Didn't blow me away with flavor but it definitely wasn't bad. A bit light on sour cream and toppings stuffed in it, so most of the flavor was white nacho cheese, rice and beans.. I will say the chicken inside the burrito was really good. I pulled some pieces out to taste and they were moist and flavored well. Prices were probably average these days. Service was really good. Jordan knew the menu and the specials... all of them and there were a lot. He was attentive and prompt. Food delivery was slower then average for a mexican restaurant but still not slow by any means. I think we were eating within 15 min. Overall I'd say I had nothing negative about the place, but also I wasn't overly impressed by anything either. read more

The Carne Asada was great ! Good portion size and seasoning was excellent ! I'd eat it again

I wanted to try a different Mexican spot than my usual and was very happy I discovered this place. Upon entering I was greeted and provided a menu as I was getting it Togo. The host was very helpful and assisted me with a few suggestions to try. I ended up going with the enchiladas they were so tasty! While I was waiting on my food I was able to sit down and catch some of the game that was on at the bar. It was definitely a laid back atmosphere, not overwhelming at all. Its great for families or even a date night. They offer restrooms for men and women. Parking was also a breeze. read more

A quaint Mexican restaurant in a small strip center. Recommended by a cousin in Jacksonville so we took them there to see for ourselves. This place is a delight for the eyes! Murals and decorations everywhere. I made people nervous trying to snap pics so took them from a distance. We came for late lunch so not too busy, we were invited to choose our table. Chips and salsa came immediately, drinks shortly after. I also ordered queso blanco and hot salsa, both were great. My wife chose her usual burrito. I opted for a combo to try several items, taco, chili relleno, frijoles and guacamole salad. Taco was great, chili relleno was a bit too wet for me - it made the pepper more like spinach. Guac salad was first time for me. A small tortilla shell with lettuce, cheese and guac. It was nice just a bit much but I really enjoyed pieces of the shell to dip the excellent beans. My wife really loved her shredded beef burrito. Service was excellent, Jennifer kept checking on us and even packed our teas to go. A comment was made about plastic silverware during COVID but we had regular silverware. A great experience and excellent fare! read more

Dont, just dont. It's definatly not "authentic mexican" but is is very crappy americanized mexican garbage. Staff is nice, prices are very high especially for how bad it is. "Flavorless" and "Greasy" are a few of the adjectives that would describe the food that also screams "I dont care" and "maybe someday I'll be as good as mediocre, but definitely not in this life time". Choking on stones would be an acceptable alternative to eating here. read more

We dined here this afternoon and the overall experience was meh. We were greeted upon entering rather quickly, however, the hostess (which was also our waitress), did not seem to be the least bit happy to be there or serving us/anyone. We ordered the following: * Carnitas & carne asada tacos * Chicken flautas * Kids taco (chicken -- comes with rice & beans) * Kids grilled chicken & fries) * Side of guacamole The tacos were very good. The flautas, beans, & rice we're either dry and/or lacked flavor. The guacamole tasted as if it were store bought ; nothing fresh was added to it (onion, tomato, cilantro). Just very bland food. The service was not very good to say the least (and I hate saying this). Nobody came around to see if we needed anything/if everything tasted ok. It was a bit unwelcoming/weird. We did not use the restrooms, but from what we could see everything was detailed/cleaned well. Hoping if we ever come back here the next experience will be better than time. read more

The enchiladas - delicious! Came with a great sauce. The tacos were surprisingly without sauce... and didn't come with guac or salsa. Chips and salsa were a complementary appetizer, and it was pretty good. Spacious with a lot of seating! read more

I guess I found my Mexican spot. I've been passing by this place since I moved here 6 years ago. The service was great and the food absolutely delicious. Steak Burritos with rice was excellent as well as my tamale. We caught the 2 for 1 Margarita special and have 4. They were on the strong side which is always good. We have been to Casa Maria a few times. Honestly the food is average Mexican food with nothing authentic and no original dishes or claim to fame. Chips and salsa offered to munch while you wait on food to come. Prices are average for this type of place. So the one star rating is for terrible service from uncaring staff and crazy long wait times. We visited on Wednesday and had to wait on table because they had a huge birthday party going on. Ok that's understandable. Then a long wait before they took drink order. We eventually got chips and the salsa barely covered the bottom of the little serving bowl. We finally got drinks that were 2 for 1. We had to flag someone down to get more salsa and wait quite a while. After flagging down two more servers we finally got our second drink. We were there an hour and the people that were seated next to us just got their food. We flagged down a server and asked about our food. Server literally said they were short staffed and everything is taking a long time and she had no idea when our food would come. No apology and didn't offer to check. After an hour and 20 minutes of waiting we left. No food!!! We will never go back as there are much better places and too many other choices. Beware. I don't think it is just a one time incident as you can see in other reviews. read more

I love this place, and I'm so grateful they are still in business and have survived (what we hope will be) the worst of the COVID pandemic. They changed their menus to a simple flat laminated style (so it's easier to sanitize between guests, I'm sure), but you should still find all your favorites. They aren't doing much social distancing (from what I could tell), but we picked a booth and stayed in our own space. They gave us a plastic utensil pack (for our pandemic hygiene comfort I'm sure) but offered us silverware (for which I was SO grateful). I did not want to eat my giant dinner of Enchiladas Suizas with a plastic knife and fork. I love the food and the people. My hubby enjoyed the pollo loco, too. read more

The food is always good and well seasoned. The 2 for 1 margaritas are a favorite with everyone.

Jose and Ariam are the best servers, we just love them. Food is almost always perfect and the margaritas are delicious too!

A friend told me about the place , very casual food is good. Get there early as they fill up social. distancing Not practiced , but get early than 5pm. You make your own . $$ on food prices , fahatas seafood or chicken very good. Fried beans good, chichamaga good sorry for spelling read more

Good food, good service and it's my youngest daughter's favorite. We have to celebrate her birthday here every year.

My wife and I went there for lunch today during the lunch rush. We've been here before and wanted to see if it was good the 2nd time before posting a review. The place was busy but we were quickly seated. The food was tasty, fresh, and service was good. Two for one draft beer didn't hurt! We can attest that the steak tacos, quac, chili rellenos, and shrimp enchiladas along with rice & beans are good and fresh. Flan for desert was good too. Well worth it, go! read more

If LESS than one star were possible, this place deserves it. The quality of the food was only under-done by the apathy of the server. Perhaps some servers shouldn't be. Maybe javelin catcher at the track meet? How long can it take to walk over to the machine that has the pre-made margaritas, pour one and return to your customers' table? Wait!! I know! Longer than it takes to stop at the counter and talk to the other servers who aren't taking care of their customers either! There are better choices for Mexican food. Taco Bell for one. That is if you want better service and substandard food, too! Oh, it gets better! After I've been waiting for 20 minutes for my margarita, I was asked if I wanted more chips. yeah read more

Love Mexican food but Jacksonville just did seem to be the place for great Mexican food. I was wrong! My husband does NOT like Mexican food BUT loves this place and said he will be happy to go back! Shock!!!!! 1st the only negative - if you check the website or get a menu when seated.... stop and ask the actual price for the food you are ordering. It fluctuates. Frustrating. Now we were immediately brought chips and a delightfully spicy hot salsa. Yum. Ordered cheese dip. It was ok but thin and not very flav Next ordered steak fajitas! EXCELLENT. Cooked to order and a lot of it. Could have used more cheese but didn't ask. Honestly I think I would have gotten it. Jackie was our server and immediately brought more salsa and sour cream upon asking! Jackie is very pleasant and quick. She consistently checks on you without being overbearing! Will definitely be going back. Lunch Menu looks really good and great prices! read more

Best Mexican restaurant in town. Huge flavor, reasonably low price, and fantastic margaritas (recommend the peach frozen/not too sweet)

Where to begin with this gem. My GF and I were in Jax for the night to catch a flight the following morning. Whenever we can, we look for a good Mexican place as Mexican is our favorite kind of food. Mexican places can be hit and miss, though, so it's always somewhat of a gamble. When we arrived at Maria's the parking lot was full- a good sign. We were sat immediately in a full dining room. The ambience was loud and busy, but not overwhelming or obnoxious. We were greeted by Ariam (sp?) who told us about the drink special and got us started with margaritas and queso. The menu has a lot to offer and is well designed and orderly. I got the enchiladas suizas and my GF got a chicken fajita salad. We waited a mere 25 minutes on a busy Friday night. My beans and rice came out with my GF's salad. My main plate came maybe 60 seconds later carried by a front of house manager. He apologized and offered to bring a free queso or drink to make up for the (very short) wait. Our server followed up and apologized soon after. The service was wonderful. But the food. Oh, y'all, the food. The chicken was tender and moist and very well seasoned. The menu said "nacho cheese" on the enchiladas, but it was so much better than just nacho cheese. The beans and rice, as simple as they were, were seasoned and hot. My GF LOVED her salad. We left full, miserably full. TL;DR: we will be back. My family and I in the past have eaten here several times. My husband when our dinner was served asked for an extra plate. The server actually brought us a plate with a living breathing crawling cockroach on it. Today my husband purchased my son a chicken tender meal and they tried to tell us the two cut in half tenders was 4 pieces. We won't be returning. If you don't want to be robbed and served bugs I don't think I would go here. read more

Casa Maria Tequila Bar & Grill on Belfort. Worse California burrito I've ever had and that's saying something. The steak was dry and incredibly salty, Chips and salsa subpar. Queso was lumpy and old tasting. Just terrible. Never coming back. $20.00 flushed, McDonald's dumpster would be better. read more

I ordered the number #10 and tried the fajitas. Shown below are bullet points of what was good and bad about the experience. The Bad - We got plastic silverware (unless you're at a food truck why????) - Everything in the #10 was low quality ground beef -Never got a refill on chips -Fajitas where over cooked -Their menu has a Cali burrito on it but fries are not one of the ingredients ( that's called a regular burrito) The good - For the most part the service was decent minus the lack of chips -Salsa was surprisingly good -The fact that you can buy 2 for 1 beers This place is not worth your time unless you want to drink beer and eat chips. For just about anything else you're better off going to the Chili's close by. - read more
