Last night the Family went out to dinner at one of our favorites, Cinco de Mayo. We've been coming here for nearly 6 years and they never disappoint. A round of free chips and salsa gets us started off of course and their salsa is one of my favorites in town. At $11.99 I get the 2 for 1 House Margaritas (I can remember when these were just $8.99 ). My husband went with his usual that he ALWAYS gets, the King Quesadilla with Steak. Jam packed with grilled veggies and perfectly seasoned steak and then topped with queso! He literally never deviates from this and gets it every single time. My daughter went with the Enchiladas Rancheras which is 2 cheese Enchiladas topped with grilled peppers and onions and served with salad and guacamole on the side. I went with one of my regular choices, Enchiladas Suizas with Chicken. Stuffed with perfectly seasoned chicken and topped with a tangy tomatillo salsa and sour cream, this dish always hits the spot, and yes, I cleaned my plate! When my 2nd margarita came out, it was delivered with a bonus 3rd margarita! Which I responsibly handed off to my daughter. She's 23, so we're good there. We really enjoy Cinco because they are consistently good and right around the corner er from us for a quick in and out table service meal. read more

We've lived over by this spot for 3 years and this was our first time trying it. It was lunch time and they were having a special. $2 off the chimichangas and 2 for $10 house margaritas. This place located on the west side is usually busy but not crowded. There's a CORE group of people in the neighborhood who frequent this place regularly. The food is good, it's not great, but it is good. It is consistent. You know what you're gonna get and they produce it the same every time. They have some interesting non-standard items like a pineapple chicken, which is pretty interesting and tasty. The service is good. The place is fairly clean and the restrooms are fairly clean. There's plenty of parking and it is one minute off of I 10. read more

Our first time here. We like trying new restaurants. I believe them when they say authentic Mexican restaurants. The food was delicious. The portions for our entrees were enough for left overs. The nachos were crispy, the chicken empanadas were hot and fresh. But lacked chicken. Our main dish was steak fajitas with sour cream, guacamole, w/side of lettuce. My drink "Mi Corazon" was ok. I should've went for the mojito. My husband said his drink was "pretty good". Our sever did great. She came to check on us. The restroom was clean. The booth seats we got was not fully clean. Warning: Don't come in here ALONE and expect to get any service at this place! The employees will ignore you -- including, the designated waitress will have a sour look on her face as she walks perpendicularly right in front of you, ignoring you, as if she hates people. Also, the cashier who's right in front of you 10' ahead. I've been here 3 times already, and had OK service and OK food those times. (If you come in alone to dine in, though, they'll put you in a non-romantic corner right next to the kitchen, though, for their convenience, unless you speak right up and say you want the darker, more comfortable second room where everyone else gets automatically seated.) This time, though, when I came in, I got no service, and am wondering if I were confused by them ALL as a DoorDash person or other person coming to simply pick up food. Even though I stood just inside the front door for minutes and kept looking at employees as they walked by (notably the snooty waitress aforementioned, who I noticed then went someplace faraway, and sat down to pout about something). So I took it upon myself to sit down at a table, and waited around for service, I made sure to try to make eye contact with each employee as he/she ignored me. 4-8 minutes I waited.... Finally I had enough, and walked out, while explaining to Mr. Cashier that I'd been waiting but being ignored for a long time. He simply said as I went through the door, "Have a nice evening!", as if he knew exactly what they'd been doing! (They don't like how customers sitting-alone LOOKS to the other guests, is that it??? Hmm, that kinda sounds like illegal discrimination. By the way, I'm a "pleasant-looking" tall middle-aged white man who dresses appropriately.) Never again will I waste my time there! They'd had good sangrías when I was there before, though the food is definitely nothing to write home about. I actually went out of my WAY again to go there (4 miles from my house, vs. 2 BETTER Mexican places, Salsa's and Rigo's on W. Beaver St., being only 2 miles from my house), just was going to try CDM out again. But, NEVER AGAIN. (By the way, after that I then drove right over to Salsa's on W. Beaver -- and had a GREAT experience there, as per usual.) NASTY SERVICE. So-so food. Sangrías are pretty good, that's IT. read more

We used to be die hard regulars despite several of our friends having bad experiences here. The food, unfortunately , has gone so far downhill over the years. We were excited that they had recently renovated and gave it another try. Unfortunately the cotija cheese on my black beans was spoiled, and made my whole meal taste rancid. The food is terrible. My husband ordered a chimichunga. Aren't those supposed to be crunchy? It came out like an enchilada, smothered in sour cream and a big dumb tomato slice on top. I ordered the enchiladas. The beef tasted burnt and the corn tortillas tasted like nothing. Like seriously? Crazy part is people were in there eating like itwas amazing. Ugghh! I was so mad. 3 words: Grilled...Chicken...Tacos. So basic, yet so perfect. Simple tacos on corn tortillas with onion and cilantro. The hot sauce served with them is unique in that the heat doesn't overwhelm the flavor. Even if you don't like 'hot', I think you'll enjoy this sauce. These with a cold Dos Equis amber and you've found my happy place! The Covid-19 mess put a real damper on Taco Tuesday. Not being able to go in and get that cold Dos Equis while waiting on my tacos was a real bummer. Fortunately, their takeout is just as good. The waitress was very pleasant. The food was great! I had Mahi tacos and they were piled high with cheese and the fish was warm and crispy. My boyfriend loved his taco and enchilada. Not sure what those negative reviews are about. The food here is very good and reasonably priced. Love their refried beans and the yellow rice is a treat in and of itself! So far I have had Burritos and Enchiladas... and they were all delicious. The house Margaritas are not the best ever (I'm sure they use a pre-made mix) but they do not lack for quantity and reasonable quality of alcohol - I think they use Jimador, which is far from an awful Tequila. Overall, I am very enamored of this place, especially as it is just down the road from me!! read more

Today I picked up a to-go order for my lunch break. Wow! What a delicious meal! I had the chorizo tacos and the melon agua fresca. Beans and rice and chips with salsa were included. Everything was packaged securely -- no leaks or spills! The presentation of the chorizo tacos with a hot dipping sauce in the middle. I've never had tacos served with the cilantro and onions -- let me just tell you that you MUST try it!! The agua fresca was sweet and refreshing. I plan to try the horchata flavor next time. The food was fabulous and the customer service was excellent. What I liked most was it was authentic and different from most Mexican restaurants. It wasn't the same old thing. They had ribeye entrees that looked amazing. I had the California burrito which was perfectly seasoned and it was muy grande and divine. The pico de gallo was made from scratch. I know good cooking and their food was amazing. I don't know why anyone would rate them anything less than 5 stars unless they were looking for a taco bell...blah blah blah. This seems to be a hidden gem. The food is phenomenal, and the staff are amazing. When it comes to Mexican cuisine, there are 3 things that have to be spot on at the restaurant. I've ordered food to-go from here probably close to 15 times so far and all 15 times I've had consistent good to great service. The food is the traditional Mexican style cuisine, the quality as well as portions are great too. The restaurant itself is always clean looking and while busy, I've never seen it "untidy" or cluttered. The service is very patient with you when figuring out what you want, they'll even explain the menu and any changes. Once I ordered a margarita to go with my meal and when I got there, I was told they were out of the size medium cup but made it up to me by giving a size large at no extra charge. Been here many times with mostly good experiences, except today. The host sat us to basically an empty restaurant. That's when my invisibility started. The server attended to people behind us who were sat after us and completely ignored us. We were about to leave and I decided to ask the host if "they had any servers working today". He pointed to the server and said she was our server. She took our order and was very engaged with other tables, but not ours so much. It was obvious we weren't happy. The food was good as always.
