One of the places we've been to so many times, and I just realized I never left a review for this location! This is probably my favorite out of all of them. The customer service is always so sweet, and even though they're usually super busy and packed, the line always goes by fast. We always get aguas frescas, different ice creams or paletas, fresas con crema, and of course an esquite. We're really picky about esquite because it's not always good everywhere, but here it's always hot, fresh, and delicious. Some of the other locations definitely don't compare. We come here about 1xs a week. My kids get ice cream and I get the cucumber & pineapple water. The water is super refreshing. The large is about $7 And each ice cream (small cup) is about $5. It's a nice little cute hang out spot for some ice cream. They do have tostilocos, chicharones, I recently saw they have mini Pancakes, esquites and other items. There's an option for everyone! Who knew this place existed in the backyard of my hometown. I actually discovered La Michoacana shortly before leaving Ventura and it's been on the back of my mind ever since. While visiting home for the weekend, the boyfriend and I thought we would stop in after our hike at Chumash trail - perfect treat after finishing a workout in the heat. With the medium size, you're able to choose three different flavors of ice cream. We went with mango, watermelon, and pineapple. It's an ice based ice cream that's smooth and refreshing with chunks of fruit. They loaded this Mexican fruit cup with Chamoy sauce, Tajin chili powder, and squeezed fresh lime juice over the top. So so so good! But the Mangoneadas aren't the only thing that's got me hyped up over this place. You have to try their 'Dorilocos con Cueritos.' There's two versions of this concoction but of course we went for the 'crazy' one which was loaded with even more random ingredients. A Dorilocos is a bag of Doritos chips sliced open and topped with cabbage, corn nuts, Mexican candies, cucumber, pig fat, Tajin, onion, avocado, sour cream, and Pico de Gallo. This used to be one of my favorite places to get paletas from until tonight. I ordered a bunch of treats for my family and along with that we ordered nachos. Since we are not allowed to dine in due to covid restrictions, we took our food home. Once we got home we noticed the nacho chips were stale. I called back to notify them and Adriana stated there was nothing she could do about it because the chips being stale is as she quoted "out of their control" or in Spanish "Los chips es fuera de nuestro control", im sure as a food/dessert business, freshness should be a huge part of your control, especially during certain circumstances as being experienced at the moment due to covid-19. Mind you she didn't say or apologize for the inconvenience. Instead she said i can drive back tonight in exchange for other nachos. I stated im visiting from out of town and cannot do so until tomorrow and she said tomorrow she couldn't guarantee it would get rectified. When I asked to speak to the manager, she stated she was the manager and That's why she told me to go back tonight. I wasn't asking for free food, just not stale ass chips that should be fresh, especially when they package them themselves in store. For a place who should be following covid-19 restrictions rules and regulations to stay open they should have been following rules of keeping their food fresh on top of following the rules of having less than 10 people including workers inside of their building. This location at one point had 18 customers on top of their three employees that they had in the building. Poor customer service on their part. When in Oxnard, La Michoacana Azteca is a fabulous place to go for ice cream!! Walked into their super clean shop, and immediately got confused as to what to purchase. Their selection of goodies is impressive. Everything was eye catching and had me drooling. The ice cream bars (paletas) were the ones that tempted me first. So many flavors that I wanted to try!! Then I walked over to the far side of the shop, and saw their ice cream flavors. Wow!! My confusion got more intense. Fortunately, the woman who assisted us was very patient. I have been to the location on Vineyard and had a great experience. When I saw this one near my daughter's Martial Arts class I was excited. I grabbed a glass of Horchata and it tasted off. Tonight I tried to take my daughter for ice cream. There were two women working. One was helping another family. The other girl with blue/green hair just looked at us. So we went and waited our turn by the register. Another large family came in and that girl went right to them and started to help them. My first experience here was after my co-workers made an ice cream run. My coworker told me they sold fruit, I asked them for cucumber and coconut with chile, lemon, and salt. Well my coworker called me and told me they would not sell her that. They already had cucumber with pineapple or cucumber with watermelon pre-cut and in cups ready to go but they could not make a cup with cucumber and coconut. I asked her for just cucumber but they also told her no, they would only sell her what was already done. So I asked her to bring me a small ice cream; vanilla and butter pecan. The ice cream was okay, but a little overpriced. It was $5.12 for the small cup, definitely not worth it. A couple days later, we went back and I asked if I could get a cup of fruit with just cucumber. The girl said yes and came back with a cup full of cucumber. She prepped it for me and gave it to me. My mistake was not asking for the price ahead of time. I could see the prices for the ice cream and nachos on the board but not the fruit, I figured it wouldn't cost over a few dollars. Once I went to pay, she said $6.20! WTH, $6.20 for a cup of cucumber. It was probably about a cucumber and a half. I paid because I already had the fruit in my hand but never again. The prices are ridiculous. I could have gone to the supermarket and bought 4 cucumbers for a dollar and made a lot more. Plus, when I got back to work, the cucumber was super watery and I had to add more salt and my own chili powder on it. read more
