We were actually looking for another ice cream spot that we had visited during our last visit to Oxnard. This shop was closer so we decided to give them a try. There was about 10 of us who wanted something. The young lady was working by herself, but she did a wonderful job despite the long line. Don't worry we were all wearing facemasks and social distancing. Everyone in our group was more than satisfied with their purchases. I chose something easy. Two scoops of ice cream costed me about $2.90. She filled up that cup, and I was surprised she was still able to close the dome lid on top of it. Got one scoop of Fresa de Crema and one scoop of Nuez. Both flavors were yummy! I'd have no problem coming here again. Shop was very clean. Covid safety protocols were being followed. Everything was organized. The service was excellent. Prices were reasonable. So many options to choose from that it can get confusing. No complaints from me. Worth trying for yourself. read more

This may be one of my favorite ice cream shops possibly. I ordered a watermelon ice cream and a guava ice cream and the ice cream kinda looked like it was about to melt this early. Probably didn't refrigerate it right. The rest were ok, with kind employees but they need to turn up their volume up a little bit, but this is really delicious and I definitely suggest you trying it. read more

We were In the area and decided to check this place out. It's a small ice cream parlor with lots of choices and flavor. Servers are helpful and friendly, offering samples to help with the difficult decision making process. I do enjoy these types of dilemmas! I couldn't believe they had the zapote negro. Zapotec takes me back to my childhood memories of that most amazing and unique fruit . I enjoyed my scoop of their sorbet, while my hubby feasted on mango while watching the grandkids enjoy their strawberry and chocolate cones. Although they're not too adventurous at this age, they do enjoy ice cream! I order two shakes they were so water down you could taste the ice more then the ice cream. I was watching her make them and the pistachio one was the worst one it literally tasted like a water pistachio. So when she was making it she blended the pistachio ice cream and then walk to the back and the blender looked like it had been served already, she then added more ice then blended then I got my shake but it was so watery no thick at all. La Michocana has amazing unique flavors and the favorite standard's like vanilla and strawberry that don't taste like what you get in ordinary ice cream shoppes. They are all homemade and they were even cutting up the fresh fruit right in front of us. Even there vanilla ice cream which is my husband's favorite is extremely rich in vanilla flavor. I love there paleta's which is a mexican style popsicle. They are $2.50 a piece. There arroz con leche is amazing as well as there pistachio, and strawberries and leche. I haven't had a bad one one yet. I even had some that they recommended that I wasn't familiar with as they are mexican style flavors that I don't remember what they said they were but they were all amazing.. They offer many flavors or both ice cream and paleta's. They also have banana splits, sundae's, milkshakes, aqua frescas, tostilocos, and much more. The food here is absolutely delicious. The tostilocos at this location have quickly become my favorite, as they are amped up compared to the average. They include cabbage, tomato, crema, and cheese on top of all the other regular tostiloco components. They say the dirtiest places have the best food and this place is NO exception. There was a lollipop on the floor, chips by the chili table station, the counters looked like they had not been wiped in a while BUT their ice cream is what I think the ice cream in heaven will taste like, pure perfection. I got the mangoneada and my girlfriend got the water strawberry. Both were equally delicious. We also got some paletas and they taste exactly like their flavors. The pineapple palette literally tasted as if I was eating a piece of pineapple. I would give it 5 stars but the place is just dirty every time I have gone. What a Great Selection of Ice Cream, From Paletas to a latinas favorite snack (Hot Cheetos!) Great Prices compared to others around Town.

Ice cream is delicious, it's hard to get it wrong - unless you get freezer burn on it, or it melts a bit and tastes gritty, or it's too rock hard and the worker isn't someone called Mr. Schwarzenegger, or the "creamy" taste overwhelms every other flavor of the ice cream, etc. - but this place gets an extra star for its kind and courteous worker. We were a group of 6 adults, 18~5x, and there were so many choices for flavors that some of us tried even 6+ samples. Early in the morning so we were the only ones there, but the worker obliged us without a single grump nor did the people I assumed were the owner or managers working in the back. Lot of these flavors were new to me, like the watermelon had some sort of odd spicy kick to it that I didn't like, but others did. In the end, I fell in love with their Ferrero Rocher flavor; the candy itself can be a little too sweet and is gone in seconds - the ice cream? Still sweet, but man, it was... a good ice cream high for sure. It wasn't dripping with creaminess like Cold Stone - in fact, I dislike it when it tastes like that because it reminds me of American cake icing and vegetable shortening - but it was the right blend, because man, I had to get my group to take me away before I caved and got another scoop... They also had a bunch of snacks and ice cream shop sort of things I'd never seen before: I'm not sure where such treats hail from - Mexico is my uneducated guess, not knowing where (or if WHAT) Michoacana is - but I could see kids eating it up and making sweet childhood memories here. Decor was okay too - usually I tend to think of such colorful Central-South American displays as 'garish' but this place was inviting and friendly. Would love to come back here for more. I purchased elote and frutas drink. They were both disgusting. How do you not get elote right?!! Elote tasted like chalk. I couldn't taste the corn, mayo, or, butter flavor at all. It had too much water which also ruined the taste. The frutas drink tasted old. Throw them out full. Will not be going back. I recommend the one in the corner of Rose ave and 1 freeway instead.
