I love this place. It's affordable and fun and unique. The flavors are different and delicious. The portions are crazy. A small is a medium and a medium is a large, etc. The medium is two flavors but like eight scoops I swear. My favorite so far is the blueberry cobbler I think and the salted caramel. The staff has been nice even though they are always busy. They also serve you very quickly and are patient and helpful when you don't know what you want. There is some sitting outside but not a lot. It's more like a drive up and go or drive up and walk around kind of situation. Would definitely recommend also definitely come back. read more

Went to Handel's for the first time, I wanted the cheesecake flavor but the Oxnard location does not have it. So I had to go with strawberry cheesecake and the strawberry tasted too much like jam. The cheesecake did not taste like CHEESECAKE AT ALL. My fiance wanted the chocolate covered strawberry but they also didn't have it. And ordered the mint chocolate chip, but the mint ice cream was definitely TOO sweet for our liking. I highly don't recommend. We threw our ice cream in the trash. What a waste of money. read more

Handels Ice Cream is definitely a great addition to the Oxnard area. I now see why this spot was hyped up even before it opened. Who doesn't love ice cream? Especially a place serving 30+ flavors?! Handels is very nice as it's new so it's clean and designed to look more modern while still having that appealing old school ice cream parlor vibe. There was plenty of parking and coming at 5pm it hadn't gotten busy yet. Probably others needed to eat dinner first before getting their dessert lol. Again, the flavor selection is massive and impressive. So many options to choose from. My friend and I had to look online so we could see pictures of what the flavors looked like - some by name are obvious and others not as much so I like that their online site has good pictures. I'm more of a coffee / original flavor ice cream person but it was cool how unique some of these were. The pricing is very reasonable. We opted for a four scoop sampler and despite it being called a sampler they were some good sized scoops! Back to the prices, the sampler which had four big scoops was barely over $8. Couldn't believe it! I've paid about $6-7 at local name brand ice cream shops and that's for only two scoops. I'd say this spot is a good value. Lastly, the staff were super nice. I didn't catch the name of the girl who helped us at the register but she was so sweet. Very patient with us as we needed awhile to look over the menu. She was all smiles and very professional and polite. The gentleman who scooped our ice cream was also nice and crafted us a nice bowl. All in all, while I don't have much of a sweet tooth, I'm really glad we have this spot in Oxnard. It's great for the kids and the ice cream experts. read more

This was my first time trying Handel's Ice Cream. Now I know why it's so popular! I was impressed with the quality of the ice cream and the wide variety of flavors. The ice cream was so smooth, so flavorful. I really appreciated how the waffle bowl added a crunchy contrast to the silky smooth ice cream. It was difficult to settle on two flavors, not only because there were so many, but also because Handel's has a bunch of names of flavors I was totally unfamiliar with. In the end I chose Raspberry Chunk and Vanilla. Both were outstanding. I also sampled the flavor called Spouse Like a House, and was instantly in love with that one too! Next time I'm definitely hitting that one! There were so many other interesting flavors I can't wait to go back. And surely I will. The employees were helpful and welcoming. New Handel's Ice Cream location. There's a line set up to order then your order can be called at any of the 3 windows. They have a huge selection of ice cream flavors and various desserts made from the ice cream such as a hurricane (similar to a blizzard or McFlurry), cones, waffle cones, banana split, and I always get the 4 flavor sampler. There's no inside seating, just a few benches with umbrellas. This is a great addition to the area! read more

I came here for the grand opening. They gave free ice cream for a year to the first 100 customers, unfortunately couldn't get it but I was happy to have a chance to try their ice creams. This plaza is new, and there are some shops, such as Chick-fil-A and Starbucks. The Townplace Suite by Marriott is still under construction, and Shake Shack has yet to be opened. This plaza will be even more fun once all the shops are open. Also, this area is close to The Collection, so getting an ice cream after shopping would be a good idea. It took me a long time to decide what flavor to order because there were many choices, and all flavors sounded delicious, but I tried "Butter Pecan." FYI, they also have vegan options. The Butter Pecan was good! The sweetness of the ice cream and the slight saltiness of the pecans were well-balanced. I liked that the ice cream was not too sweet(that's what I want) and that there were a lot of pecans in it. There are some tables and chairs outside only. So you can take your dog :) The service was good, and I would like to try another flavor again. Parking is at the front of the shop. read more

Excited to have another new ice cream place open up in Oxnard! I have been waiting for Handel's to finally open and the day has come! I was surprised there was no line when I showed up in the afternoon on opening day. The staff were really friendly! I can tell they were still learning on the job but was happily patient for my ice cream. I had to try their Coffee Chocolate Chip since coffee is my favorite ice cream. So rich and creamy! Love that they make fresh batches of ice cream daily. They have so many flavors to choose from that you definitely won't be bored to try something else the next time you visit. Also ordered a Dogster for my fur babies. It's basically a prepackaged ice cream in a cup that is peanut butter and cheese flavored. My pups loved it! Plenty of free parking in the plaza by Starbucks and Chick-Fil-A next to the Collection. Can't wait to come back and try some other flavors and their shakes! read more

A new ice cream place! Yay! We came on a Friday night, the line was fairly long, but not Disneyland long. It is set up so that you wait in line and order at the window, and then wait for your ice cream until they call you. The smell of waffle cones from the inside tempts you all the while. There are a few outside tables you can sit at, and parking is truly a NIGHTMARE. When we got to the window, our staff member was friendly and very patient. We ordered our ice cream, and probably waited about 3 minutes before they call out your ice cream and hand it to you. I love how they scoop it. It's very aesthetic. As for the ice cream, it was good. There are SO many options on the menu. However, there is a limited amount of dairy free options...and, given that 2 out of the 4 in my inner circle are lactose intolerant, it stacks up as fairly average compared to other ice cream shops with more dairy-free options. I ordered the Blue Monster. It was really good! I love how the ice cream here has a lot of texture. Handel's is a great new ice cream joint! However, the lack of dairy free options makes it hard for it to stand out compared to others. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. read more

Was excited to give Handel's a try after hearing about the opening of it. Waited for the hype to die down a bit to avoid some of the lines. Today was the perfect day for a visit. It's a walk up only space, no restrooms or wash stations either so be prepared for that. The menu is hectic and the screens change very frequent so it takes some time to sort though. I got the chocolate peanut butter brownie. The small was massive it sat over 6" over the waffle cone. The down side of the entire experience is the non sense method for delivery. They tell you a window for pickup but they pop out a different window. The over all process was slow and chaotic enough for me to say it's a one and done visit. The ice cream was good but not enough to deal with the wait, 30 mins from line to order receipt. read more

We had to do it! After 9pm and we are out looking for Handel's. I've been waiting almost 8 months. Was it worth it? Yes! We ordered 3 double scoops and a classic banana split. I thought it was going to be so much more. But the prices are great. The icecream is so good. I got the buckeye and I can't wait to try more flavors. The inside where they were scooping the delicious is so bright and pretty. Looks very organized and clean. Now I KNOW these employees were workin hard for the grand opening today but we their attitudes didn't show it. Zander was so fresh and friendly. This was my Second visit to Handel's ice cream in Oxnard since they opened a couple of months ago. This visit took place on a Saturday night, a couple of days after the grand opening of Shake shack in the same parking lot. Handel's line was pretty long and parking was very limited. In part, I am guessing the line was long because shake shack just opened, but from reviews it looked like they only had a chocolate shake available on their menu at night which might've helped. Handel's sales. In any case, the line moved pretty quickly. The servers were quick, efficient, helpful, and friendly and except for just having run out of the flavor I wanted everything was great. We had a single scoop on a sugar cone (in a bowl) and a hurricane, which is similar to a blizzard from Dairy Queen, only with much better ingredient in my opinion. Both items were excellent. The servings were huge. The single small cone consist of about three scoops of ice cream-it was almost more than I could eat.. I have seen a few other reviewers saying that the servings were small, but I really disagree. There are a large variety of flavors some custom they are more than happy to explain what each one is and they do offer samples before you make your purchase. The purchase price was fair. We got a medium hurricane and the small cone and with tip I think it was about $15. Very excited to have so many more new options out near the collection definitely recommend this spot. I'm sure it will be a super popular spot. This summer definitely will return. read more

The best thing about this place is its location it's not inside the absolute Madness which is the mall but across the street where there's a Marriott. Boy what a lucky Mariott you got a Starbucks an ice cream place Shake Shack Panda Express a juice bar and even a dentist to pull your cavities after you eat all of this shit LOL. I've been wanting to try this joint since I saw hordes of people waiting at 1 a.m. at an Oceanside location few years back now they are popping up all over the place even have one in my Valley on Tampa Boulevard. It is a walk-up style counter where you order and then you get presented with a massive cone with like a triple scoop of ice cream. It was so big and melting so fast I needed to require a cup to dip my sugar cone in reverse and empty it into it so I can eat it comfortably as it was getting all over my hands like a crime scene of ice cream. Opted for the chocolate chunk or something it's chocolate with chocolate chips it was pretty good I've had better nothing memorable but for the portion it's very good value and can easily split one into 2 servings I didn't know this so I ordered two of them it came to about 12 or 13 bucks. The sugar cone was the best I've ever had in an ice cream joint so fresh and crispy. They have some ass slamming hard bench seats outside to sit and enjoy while you are getting your tailbone raped thank goodness I have my plushy butt pillow at all times for situations like these. It was fun to try once but gave me nothing to really crave it again. Lots of flavors and diverse cone options so it's a solid 4*. read more

We bought a couple pints to share amongst the family and were not disappointed. - Banana Cream Pie: this might be my new favorite flavor of ice cream. The thing I was most worried about was an artificial banana flavor (which I hate), but the flavor was so true to the real taste! My parents also loved this because it 'wasn't too sweet'. - Cookie Monster: personally I never get the hype about this flavor but it was good. Seemed just like a regular cookies n cream with blue colored ice cream. Solid pick. - Chocoholic Peanut Butter Ripple: also LOVED this one! The chunks of PB in here were unreal.
