Bingsu

Love the flavor choices of the bingsu! Only downside is that it is on the pricier side. Other than the price, the food here is good and the workers were nice as well. The store was clean and lots of seating!

Strawberry Bingsu ~ Topped with condensed milk. So good!!!
Angela R.

Absolutely in love with this place! My Yelp friend Erica G. brought me here and introduced me to a dessert I have never heard of or tried. Bingsu! A Korean shaved ice dessert that I'm obsessed with now. We ordered the strawberry (reg size) and it was a very nice portion. It looked like it would be too much, but it was perfect for two. I honestly didn't think we would finish it, but we did! I couldn't stop eating it. The texture makes it feel like you're eating a cake like dessert, but it's shaved ice. I think it might of had red bean too, but not sure. This place is very clean, and minimalistic. They also offer soft serve fish cones that you can customize. For bevvies, it's shakes, iced energy drinks and hot drinks like sweet corn, hot chocolate, chai and lattes. Overall, I'm so glad I got to try something different. I can't wait to come back!

Matcha bingsu and a fish ice cream

I finally had the opportunity to try GOM Snow Desserts! It is located at the Collection next to Boba Time and European Wax Center. I think this used to the closed location of Devil Angel Desserts. The Korean Bingsu is what draws me here, especially because it's not like Hawaiian-style shaved ice. According to Google, Bingsu is made with a base of milk or milk-based liquid, not just water. This dairy base gives the shaved ice a creamy, less icy texture. I ordered the matcha bingsu ($13.50 for a size small), which comes with the shaved snow, matcha poweder, sweet red beans, mochi, sliced almonds and a cup of condensed milk. There's a brown bear face on a pick that sits on top of the bingsu. My husband ordered the fish cone in a cup ($8.50) in vanilla flavor with the nutella filling and oreo topping. Upon ordering, you're asked if you're dining in or taking it to-go so we opted for dining in. You received a beeper and go up to the counter for pick up. I really enjoyed my bingsu. The size small is shareable and I couldn't finish it all. I was hoping the shaved snow would be made of matcha or more matcha but it was good enough haha. It gets really busy and popular here so seating is kinda limited. There's water all the way in the back if you get thirsty. I would like to come back here for a sweet treat and love knowing they have the shaved snow bingsu here :)

So good! Everything is really good and creative, the place is so cute. They have tables inside if you want to sit down. I have no complaints, everything is delicious!

So freaking delish!!! Popped in to try it out and the mango bingsu was just all goodness in a cup !! So freaking good and a super cute spot and lots of cool things to see like adorable stuffies, it's hard to pick what to get cause everything looks so good!! Good customer service, bathroom inside, clean and quirky

I cannot believe I had not been here sooner! The perfect dessert stop for any sweets lover! I had never tried Bingsu and wow oh wow! It simply melts in your mouth. Bingsu is Korean shaved ice and if you have had Mexican shaved ice it is a much softer and richer flavor! There is no other way to describe it than melts in your mouth. I tried the horchata flavored bingsu and it was the perfect cinnamony flavor. They added cinnamon toast crunch on top and vanilla bean ice cream! As a side sauce they pair it with lechera so this was the great mix for my Mexican self! A must try I will say it did not taste like horchata at all but it is just as delicious and creamy. I also had an oreo taiyaki which is all homemade! You can also customize it to your liking but the oreo and nutella was the combination for me! The place inside is the vibe you imagine very bright and nice ambiance.

Small Mango Bingsu

Need a key to use the restroom. Deserts are great although we only had mango Bingsu and oreo island creation and some hot fish. The small serving is shareable which is good because I didn't expect it for the price of 13.50. Staff (3 people) are just talking to each other though, but in a okay way for the most part. Overall it's a great place to get some sweets and chill.

As an Oxnard native ... I love all things Oxnard and believe it is a city that has so much to do and taste! I am a bit bias when I say ... it is my favorite city in VC with all the vibes ;) We are however in need of more diverse cuisines and spots... it's happening though. It is HAPPENING! So happy we now have GOM! I first had bingsu ( Korean) when I visited my sister in Sacramento and was waiting "patiently" until it got to Oxnard. There's a spot in Ventura I have been going to for years but so nice to have this place 5 mins from me ! I have been stalking this storefront for a few months. Started this Yelp page and when it finally opened, I was there! I got the Strawberry Cheesecake bingsu . It was good. I think I'd prefer the plain Strawberry or Mango more though! There are other opinions but I prefer the fresh fruity ones :) This bingsu comes topped with ice cream which is diff than the other bingsu spots in VC. To be clear, it's NOT the first place to offer bingsu in VC , we have a few. Same with tayaki. This spot is the sister spot to Coastal Cone in Ventura . Which is a local favorite. Cute interior. Clean! They don't just offer bingsu. They have soft serve with ice cream cones or taiyaki, shakes , energy drinks and so much more! Locally and Family owned. Highly rec! Oh oh Pro-Tip - if you want your bingsu to be served in a "real" bowl ask for one . I did. I went opening week and it was not an issue :)

What a fun and delicious visit to GOM Snow Desserts! I was visiting Oxnard for work and did a quick search about some hot and new businesses in the area and saw that there is new bingsu place in town. I loved shaved ice and was excited to see what they had to offer. So I made sure I stopped in one of the days. I saw that was supposed to rain so I decided to come in on a day that wasn't too late in the day but also Where I could try some amazing food. I end up getting parking by the movie theater and then walking over and I knew it was located right by Boba Time. There were a couple of families in front of me so I was able to make my decision and luckily there was one table way in the back that's still open so I was able to get my shaved ice to dine in. They were so busy that did take a little bit of time but luckily I had my headphones so I can listen to a podcast to kill some time. My pager went off and I was able to get my order. I went with the mango bingsu and it was amazing. It also came with a small container of condensed milk in a bear shaped container. What a great dessert and I want try some of the menu items next time. A lot of stuff looked amazing so I will have to make sure I stop in the next time I am in town.

It's great to see more Asian stores opening around the Oxnard area. GOM is a wonderful place to satisfy your bingsu/taiyaki needs without having to go all the way to LA! This place is located inside the collection. They have ample seating inside to enjoy your dessert fresh. Menu wise, they have so many different dessert choices and flavors. We got the mango bingsu. We really enjoyed it. The mango was not as sour as we thought it was going to be. It was actually the perfect pairing with the sweetness from the condense milk and ice cream. I love how they give you a little bear that has condensed milk inside of it. The only thing about the bingsu was that the shaved ice wasn't as fine as other bingsu places I've been to, but it definitely satisfied my cravings. I'll be back to try other desserts like the taiyaki and ice cream!

Jonathan K.

Bingsu without going all the way to Koreatown, that's what I'm talking about. The milky shave ice was so soft and refreshing. The bites of mango added a nice fruity to balance out the creamy ice. I'm not a big sweets person so even the smaller version is a perfect portion. The aesthetics and taste are a nice addition to the 805, and brings another fun element to the Collection

Presentation was super cute with the bears, but unfortunately the mangos were quite sour, hard and unripe. The condensed milk helped but it would have been so much more enjoyable with better fruit!

Keith S.

Growing up in the 90's and early 2000's here in the 805 you would have to drive to LA for something like this. I'm glad there are more Asian inspired places finally coming to the area. I don't know what this was called but it was amazing and I'll be picking it up every time I'm in the area. There's also a bunch of other things on the menu that I want to try. The service was extremely nice and the ambiance reminds me of all the Asian dessert places in the 626.

Shoutout to the rice being properly cooked -- sounds like a low bar, but a lot of places miss that, and it makes a difference. My friends ordered off of the Happy Hour menu and were pleased with the Miso Salmon & Tempura. I ordered off both menus. I ordered the Ika Karrage Twice: both times it was burnt, one would think that after sending it back the first time because it was dark brown & black, that the 2nd time they'd have gotten it right, but they didn't care, nor did our server. I ordered an oyster shooter (better to order two for the price is $2 more) and it didn't arrive until the end of our meal & only after I asked, worse, it may have been a whole oyster, but it was shredded and in 3-4 pieces. The pork belly was excellent, but my drink, didn't arrive until over 1/2 way into our meal... What is wrong with these young people? Seriously if you can't do it correctly, maybe this isn't the job for you. My February rating gave kabuki 5 stars, this time it all fell apart. I'll think twice about coming here again, because from this experience the problem was with the staff.

5/5 -- A Hidden Treasure in Oxnard!…read more If you're hunting for a true comfort-food haven this winter, Ozeki Noodle is the little gem you'll want to keep all to yourself... but it's way too good not to share. The ambience is calm, clean, and quietly inviting--like Oxnard's own little pocket of Japan. The service? Warm, attentive, and wonderfully efficient. You know what truly makes this place? The authentic food. Every dish feels crafted with care. I love being able to sit down with a steaming cup of hot green tea, the most delicious tempura, a spicy tuna hand roll that never misses, and a bright, refreshing seaweed salad--without having to wait forever for seating or service. If you're starving, this is where you want to land for fast, delicious comfort. And the star of the show: the chicken bowl. I promise you will not find a chicken bowl this good anywhere else. Tender, flavorful, and so satisfying it deserves its own fan club. The tempura? Feathery, crisp perfection--easily the best in Ventura County. No exaggeration needed. Their miso is a warm winter hug, and the combo with the chicken bowl + rice + a large bowl of udon is the definition of cozy luxury. The broth is rich, the noodles are plush and filling, and you'll leave full with leftovers to smile at later. If you want authentic Japanese comfort, fast service, and food that feels like it was made just for you, Ozeki Noodle is your new cold-weather sanctuary.

Cozy, intimate, and very much a hole in the wall izakaya, this place is all about authentic Japanese flavors and perfectly grilled skewers. There is NO sushi here (they make that very clear), just kushiyaki, small plates, and goooood vibes. I've never been to Japan (yet), but I would imagine this is what it would be like walking into a small mom and pop shop there. The open kitchen is tiny but fun to watch, and from pretty much any seat you can see your food being made. It's a GREAT date night spot, order a bunch of dishes and share everything so much fun. We came for dinner and with a rotating menu of skewers and specials we were satisfied and it kept things interesting! Lunch is more limited, with preset options, but the quality still hits. The donburi is solid, the chicken curry is comforting (could use a little more protein), and the skewers, especially pork belly, chicken & onion, and meatballs, are seasoned and grilled really well. Veggie skewers like zucchini and brussels sprouts are simple but still tasty. At dinner, my husband and I loved the spicy garlic edamame, chicken thigh with yuzu pepper, ribeye skewer, gyoza, and the yaki onigiri (grilled rice ball with a crispy outside). Pro move: dip the onigiri into the leftover spicy edamame sauce. Trust. Ordering is easy with scan-and-pay, the owner is hands-on, and you can feel the care put into every dish. Take it easy with the ordering (they are typically skewer by skewer because you can easily rack up a hefty bill!) If you're looking for an authentic Japanese izakaya experience in Ventura, focused on flavor, not trends, Gotetsu absolutely delivers.

Unnecessary but appreciated. I returned and ordered my usual Classic Tokatsu, and maybe there is a different broth for Blaze version. This time Classic broth tasted closer to what I happily remember. I also opted for grilled chicken option, and you get much more quantity chicken compared to chashu pork. This makes sense as chashu pork is labor intense. I'm raising back to 4.5 stars (even if I can't show that extra .5) I still place Silverlake and then URamen as my fave local options. I think this location primarily operates as take-out restaurant. There are maybe 5-6 tables available for dining there. There are surprisingly limited # of general tables to eat inside the Annex; may have better luck eating takeout at outside tables. Silverlake's tables are reserved only for those dining in, you can not sit at a table if you're waiting for your takeout order. I ordered the Blaze (tonkatsu broth) ramen. It didn't have that same special taste I remembered. Today my seasoned egg was missing, but that is not the reason for lowering a star. Overall, from what I remember, the broth does not have that same unique flavor; the noodles were still good and fresh tasting. I also had a chicken bao snack, and it did not have a freshly cooked taste; nothing stood out in the flavors. I expected it to have more punch with kimchi inside, but it was kind of flat. Ramen is packed very well for takeout; they have a great system of separating the broth, noodles and making it easy to re-heat ramen at home and mix it together in the larger noodles/ sides bowl. Still good ramen, but maybe the flavors and some quality has become more muted. * Note: I did not realize this until I saw the prices at the counter, but if you order online, prices are approx. 10% higher, probably to cover costs of takeout containers etc. Generally I have not seen higher prices for ordering ahead. It may be more cost-effective to order counter take out if you don't mind waiting in longer lines.

I'd love to see some occasional specials or slight price adjustments to make it more accessible. That said, I keep coming back anyway. The Garlic Truffle Ramen is just that good. The pork chop was probably the best pork chop we've ever had in our lives. It was prepared sous vide style and so tender, juicy and seasoned perfectly. The lobster tails were good size, broiled, but a little dry and not much flavor but the butter made them all better. We still enjoyed it and really were happy to be there. We tried 3 of the desserts. The maple bourbon crème brûlée, the butter cake and their house-made Keylime pie. There were three of us eating and we all tried these options.
