It's nothing fancy, but this is a fun little place to drop into if you are anywhere in the vicinity of the Oxnard Transit Center. It's right next door. The bakery has a whole bunch of different Mexican pastries at very reasonable prices that you can sit down and snack on right there. I got a very nice pastry there for only $1.

La Gloria Bakery is located near the bus and train station, and inside La Gloria Plaza (go figure). The minute you enter the restaurant section, it'll feel like you've walked out of Oxnard and into Mexico. That may seem pretty hard to believe, but it's exactly what you would picture a Mexican food court to look like. Splashed with vivid colors and pinatas that would look tacky anywhere else, I was honestly surprised that this place had even existed. There's a taqueria, juice and shake stands, and of course, La Gloria Bakery at the very back of the court. For $2.25, you can pick up a huge pink sugar cookie, a beautifully decorated mound of bread with sugar on top (Pan Mexicano), and a pineapple turnover. What a deal! Even though you might seem out of place, just grab a cafeteria tray, a tong, and pick your desserts to your delight. Don't worry, those trays should be clean. The highlight of the desserts here, surprisingly, are the turnovers. The outside looks to be glazed with an egg wash to get that beautiful golden hue, and inside of it was a sweet pineapple filling. Yummy. There were other flavors as well that I'm definitely going to pick up next time I get the chance: vanilla, strawberry, apple, and pumpkin. Want something less sweet? The pink sugar cookies actually has a milder flavor in comparison. Even the Pan Mexicano is a great dessert for people who don't have much of a sweet tooth as it seems to have more bread than sugar. The top is outlined with valleys and creases that kind of made me wonder how it was made. If none of those strike your fancy, they also have other options like cornbread, churros, strawberry strudels, and other tempting delicacies. Final Mood: Relieved, because the chicken taco before this meal kind of made me queasy. If you recently picked up something at Super Taco or TDM across the street, get your dessert here. It isn't going to cost you much and turnovers are yum-stuff.

Carne Asada Burrito. Yummy!

Went to La Gloria, it is a whole in the wall. The prices are very reasonable. Area where people eat is very small. They only accept cash but there is an ATM machine. When going to La Gloria you have 3 different stands - Mexican food, a Mexican bakery and Ice Cream (which is a must try). I had the carne Asada Burrito which was very delicious. It was pretty big. My husband had the chile verde which he wasn't to happy with. He said he loved the rice and beans but not the chile verde. My mother in law had 2 tacos de Asada which she loved and my mother had 2 tacos de papa which she said was ok, she said it felt to dry. I do recommend having their chips with salsa very good chips.

Dry ass cake

DO NOT BUY CAKES FROM THIS BAKERY! First of all when I went to inquire about cake prices etc the lady that greeted me was very rude and made me feel uncomfortable. I then picked up my cake the following day and I was very disappointed to say the very least. The bread was extremely over baked. I specifically asked for a mocha cake and got an over baked chocolate cake with brown dyed meringue. Where is the mocha? I am beyond pissed with the service and crappy cake I received. I will be going back tomorrow Monday as they have already closed today. I will be requesting a full refund as this cake is clearly inedible.

There is a secret garden, where it is typically alone and private. As you enter,it is at the far end of the building to the left.

This cafe is sooo beautiful- I truly feel like I'm somewhere in Europe in a large open patisserie…read more It is typically super crowded her, so if you can find seating, count yourself lucky. I love their pastries, but the recent price increases do make them a luxury item. Kouign Amann are my fave, but any of their croissants are also great. I haven't really tried their drinks. Had a Hot chocolate at the Camarillo location, and they even had a little latte art in the milk foam. A beautiful space to enjoy, but pricey overall. Service is usually fine, not overly friendly but that is also due to being so busy that they need to move the lines quickly and efficiently. At Camarillo, the server was much more talkative and friendly because it wasn't crowded when I went.

Served with a warmed goat cheese crostini. No mention of melons it had a few slivers of strawberries. Overall taste not very good. Had my mom try it too she was unimpressed. She had the chicken salad. She said it was just chicken with mayo. The croissant was dry. The iced tea tasted like coffee unfortunately. The gentleman that delivered our food just plopped the plates down and walked away. No gluten free options only macaroons! First time at this location normally go to Camarillo and TO so I was expecting the same great food and service. There was a napkin on the ground directly under our table. The ledge by window was dirty! Just disappointing!

From the outside, it honestly looks like just a Mexican bakery, but it's so much more than that. As you walk in, the coffee shop is right at the entrance with a couple of tables, a beautiful mirror, and some side seating. I do wish the aesthetic was a bit more "picture-worthy," but it's still a nice space overall. When I went (Saturday morning), it was PACKED. To the right, you have the bakery section and omg... it smells amazing. They have all kinds of Mexican pan dulce and fresh cookies--so hard to choose! Now let's talk about the drinks We ordered their special, the Baby Milo, and WOW--I was obsessed. Not only was it delicious, but it was also beautifully presented. I also tried the strawberry matcha, and let me just say... I am NOT a matcha girl, but this drink completely changed my mind. It was creamy, smooth, and didn't have that strong grassy taste at all (which I loved). Of course, I had to get my usual: a sugar-free vanilla oat latte, and it did not disappoint. Super creamy, flavorful, and just perfect. From the bakery, I picked up their walnut powdered cookies, and you could immediately taste how fresh they were. They literally melted in your mouth. I was so sad they only came with five Overall, such a great experience. Amazing drinks, fresh pastries, and definitely worth the hype. I would 100% recommend this spot to anyone!
