How in the world has this fantastic bakery been here for over ten years and I'm just now finding…read moreout about it? Well never mind. The important thing now is to visit this place as often as possible. Make up for lost time. Because there are so many things to try. Not only does this place have an impressively broad selection of baked goods. It also offers up some exquisitely beautiful produce. And then there's the cold case with the big Chicken Pot Pies and the Beef Pot Pies and probably some other kind of Pot Pies I haven't even heard of before because this place brings it! Same with sandwiches. You know how you like those sandwiches on a baguette? Well they've got them here. Quick lunch option. Over in the other cold case they've got French Butter. Probably would've been better if I didn't see that. Most of the time French Butter is like Kryptonite to me. I lose all my power over my wallet. I'm compelled to turn over all my cash for butter. But not this day. This day I was strong. I did not succumb to the buttery temptation. This visit I left with a cappuccino and a couple packages of cookies. Both excellent! I ordered a matcha latte no sweetener which had nice color & strong flavor. I also bought premade ravioli (crab & a duck/apple flavor) which I am so excited to make.

Now I have yet to visit the shop, but my sister who is a big fan of this bakery has sent me pictures of the shop and the aethetics closely ties in with the packaging I have pictured. It is sweet, cute, bright and whimsical. The Loaf Bakery is produced by Okayama Kobo, a bakery chain founded by Tsunetaka Kawakami, that is open in Anaheim, DTLA, Honolulu and Laguna Niguel. The Loaf has the same quality of baked good, made with flour from Hokkaido, Japan, having no additives or preservatives. It is recommended that you eat it the day of since it has a shelf life of a couple of days. Talk about freshness! I recently visited my sister and her family and she had a box to share with me. We had the following: Red Bean Salt & Butter Roll: Simple and delicious. Highly recommend, especially to those who like red bean filling. Not to sweet (a high compliment given by Asians when talking about desserts.) Chocolate Emoji: Soft bun with custard inside Amande: Croissant with a cookie topping, topped with chocolate chips. Textures are crispy but not as flaky where it would be a mess. Matcha Azuki An Pan: Earthy tea taste with sweet read bean filling. Overall, I love what I have tried. I would love to visit the spot for their savory pastries and coffee.

So, we tried a bunch of items, and the only reason I'm giving this place 3.5 stars is because I think around here it's probably the best you're going to get. The custard buns were 3 stars. Didn't really like the bun very much. Custard was average. Yuzu tart wasn't very good. The pastry wasn't very flaky and the yuzu was meh. Didn't like this pastry at all. The best thing our group had was the strawberry croissants. That was 4 stars. Fresh strawberries and the cream was good and the croissant was flaky and buttery unlike the tart. I also had the matcha tiramisu, not pictured because I ate it but then threw it away. It came in a little plastic cup. Overly sweet and just not very good. That was 2 stars.

They have different honey options and a lot of samples too in case you want to try before you buy. We always try new honey and end up purchasing a new flavor each time. They have different sizes so you can buy a small batch if you want to try something new or they also have small tubs if you use a lot of honey. My mom likes to buy the tubs and pour into smaller containers and gift it to her friends when she visits. Especially in colder months when everyone is making teas or just getting sick from flu season. They also have honey candy, candles, soaps, etc. so it's fun to browse around. This time I took the lavender honey and I've been adding it in my coffee and matcha at home. Gives it a subtle hint of lavender and sweetness from the honey. I don't usually enjoy lavender but I feel like the lavender is subtle and not so perfumy. Not something I would've gravitated too organically, but I had the sample in store and here I am. They also have some spicy honeys which might be good for pizzas or wing sauces? Worth checking out.

I love their pastries, but the recent price increases do make them a luxury item. Kouign Amann are my fave, but any of their croissants are also great. I haven't really tried their drinks. Had a Hot chocolate at the Camarillo location, and they even had a little latte art in the milk foam. A beautiful space to enjoy, but pricey overall. Service is usually fine, not overly friendly but that is also due to being so busy that they need to move the lines quickly and efficiently. At Camarillo, the server was much more talkative and friendly because it wasn't crowded when I went.

Served with a warmed goat cheese crostini. No mention of melons it had a few slivers of strawberries. Overall taste not very good. Had my mom try it too she was unimpressed. She had the chicken salad. She said it was just chicken with mayo. The croissant was dry. The iced tea tasted like coffee unfortunately. The gentleman that delivered our food just plopped the plates down and walked away. No gluten free options only macaroons! First time at this location normally go to Camarillo and TO so I was expecting the same great food and service. There was a napkin on the ground directly under our table. The ledge by window was dirty! Just disappointing!
