Gave it another try. Boy was I impressed back to the greatness of cakes they make. Will be back.

What a disappointment!! I went to the "famous " Bread Basket bakery last month for a croissant and I was surprised how mediocre it was. Yesterday I thought I'd give it another shot. I bought 4 cookies, pumpkin, chocolate chip, lemon and raisin oatmeal. The cookies were awful. I mean really bad. One bit and I was done. The size were wimpy not even professional looking. The cookies from Walmart are better. Super disappointment! Never going back. read more

I can only speak to the zebra cookie I got from here. That was enough for me to not want to try anything else. The cookie was stale and powdery. It was hard on the outside and dry on the inside. I took a few bites but opted to throw the rest away. That's this critic's review, until bedtime time I'll be eating. read more

Beautiful cakes. They're quite delicious. Expensive but worth it for a special occasion.

Today was my first time visiting, and I can't believe I've lived in Ventura County my entire life and am still discovering hidden gems like this. My boyfriend brought me here on a beautiful Saturday morning (February 21, 2026 at 10:15 AM), and the weather was perfect -- which made the experience even better. The line was very short, and we were greeted right when we walked in. As we were admiring all the bakery items, it became our turn to order. The staff member at the counter was friendly and welcoming, and everything moved quickly and smoothly. The place itself is extremely clean, well-lit, and inviting. The display of desserts was impressive -- so many gorgeous options! They also offer custom cakes that we're already considering for our next celebration. The prices are very comparable to places like Whole Foods that are known for baked goods, but I genuinely feel the quality here is even better. Plus, you can walk in and out without dealing with big crowds or long waits. It feels good supporting local businesses -- especially as our community continues to grow and more people are looking for "mom and pop" spots instead of large chain stores. I've already sent videos of their dessert selection to family and friends, and I'm planning to place a cake order soon. I would absolutely recommend this bakery to anyone looking for quality pastries, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back! read more

The lack of customer service is absolutely disgusting and terrible. All the white employees treat you disrespectfully or not with the same amount of care that they would someone of their own race. Take note. Wednesday, February 18th 2026 at around 5:45pm the female employee with braids seemed to be at her wits end and didn't want to help out or greet customers with more care and respect. What should I expect from snobby Camarillians selling over priced baked goods? The quality has gone down significantly here and it's obvious why. Hire pretty eye candy who are b i t c h e s but cant smile and welcome customers. Please note that you will be treated differently if you are a different race than white read more

I went in today and tried to politely ask the manager about wedding cakes, their price range and the available flavors. While the counter staff were very sweet this manager was very rude and made sure to intensely correct me by interrupting me on how wedding cakes were served and made. I went ahead and bought some overpriced slices that were unfortunately very dry. Could've absolutely received my business if she wasn't rude, do better! :/ read more

LOVE them so much! Beautiful venue, incredible food, specialty brands, kindest owners and staff.

Lovely yummy delicious cake taste great highly recommend. Service is great and don't forget the delicious deli sandwich

This place usually has good desert, but can be a hit or miss sometimes. There are no tables inside, but there are a couple of 2 person tables outside. This place is better for a quick pick up and go. Today I tried the strawberry waffle cup and it was pretty good, but the cone was a bit soggy. Keep in mind, this was eaten a minute after ordering it. The strawberries and cream were pleasantly sweet, but not too sweet. You can order ahead for a cake and they'll write whatever you'd like on it. read more

My go to spot for bday cakes! They never disappoint and service is always great. Their suggested serving portion is more than we can handle so I always purchase one side under what they suggest. My fave is their white cake, mixed berries, buttercream and chocolate shavings! read more

The walk in order was very simple. Just a chocolate chip cookie and a pastry. The thing that slaps you in the face is the absolute LACK of costumer service right when you walk in. Very cold reception. There was probably about 5 people behind that counter and they acted as though there were no customers in the store. A simple welcome goes a long way. Train your employees how to say hello to people that fund your business. The cookie was alright. You can get a similar quality cookie at Whole Foods. The brown butter chocolate chip cookies they sell at Whole Foods are the same quality and taste compared to the overpriced cookie they sell here. I've had better customer service at automated machines. read more

This little bakery packs a BIG punch! Their goods are beyond delicious! I was sent in by a friend to get a mixed fruit cake of some kind and when I said those exact words to the staff, they knew EXACTLY what I meant and with good reason! Their cake that has either strawberries or mixed berries on top is PHENOMENAL!!! Like "heaven melted in my mouth" good! That was a direct quote too lol! The cake was $80 (the most I have EVER paid for a cake including my wedding lol) but was honestly worth every dang penny!!! read more

For the price of the cakes they sell, I was highly disappointed in the taste and availability of the strawberries in the cake. This place is amazing! I was gifted a slice of cake for a birthday and had to go find the bakery. The bakery is located on the corner of the building in a very popular shopping zone. It was a pleasure stopping in to this beautiful, small bakery! This was my first time stopping in and the gentleman behind the counter answered the few questions I had and recommended some of his favorites, which are mine! I got a whole bag of goodies for a pretty decent price in my opinion. My favorite had to been the strawberry waffle cup. The cream wasn't too sweet at all, and totally left me wanting more! There is not seating on the inside, but you can sit at the several small tables on the outside. What a great place to stop by and work for a little bit or enjoy a great conversation with friends. read more

It's a good small store for baked goods! I enjoyed the strawberry waffle cup (strawberries and cream in a cone) and my family loves their vanilla cakes (the ready-mad white one with fruits on top). The employees are always nice and there's plenty of parking as they are located in a plaza. There are a few two-person tables in outside the store you can sit at. read more

I have to tell you hands down one of the best local bakeries if not one of the best in Southern California. Do you pay a premium? Yes, but the deserts are WORTH it. Always high quality in taste and freshness. Would not go else where! Give them a try you WON'T be disappointed!! read more

A bit on the pricey side. But super yummy. The cakes are kind of expensive but good, the zebra cookies are tasty. I think the fruit either apricot or berry in the center with layered sheets of dough on the outside is messy but tastes delicious. I believe it's a kind of puff pastry. It's a great spot for pastries in Camarillo. I like it. read more

I was looking for a superior cake for my MIL's 96th birthday party. I'm pretty relaxed about all party things except the food - in this case the cake. As I've never ordered a cake in the area (Camarillo, Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme), I did a lot of research and this bakery came up often. I visited the day before Thanksgiving to place an order and see things for myself. The shop was BUSY! I think that's always a good sign. A very nice woman assisted me, walking me through my options. She had a printed handout that I could also take my time to review the options. I was never rushed even with all the holiday shoppers. Once my order was complete, I was also given my price and was able to select my precise pick up time the following week. When I returned to pick it up - it was exactly as ordered: 9" chocolate cake chocolate mouse filling French vanilla whipped cream frosting milk chocolate shavings and mixed berries on top This cake was the hit of the party and worth every penny! This is my new go to for any bakery needs in the area. WOW and YUM! It's not inexpensive but you get what you pay for " ) read more

Cute shop located on Daily Drive near Taco Bell in Camarillo. Lots of Sweets here, delicious desserts. They have pastries, coffee cakes, cookies, pies, tarts, muffins, breads, cupcakes & different cakes like specialty cakes even wedding cakes. These are definitely special occasion cakes for grand events such as birthdays, milestones, weddings etc. It is pricey here, so don't be surprised. Just don't forget to order regular cakes 48 hours in advance. Check out their online menu or browse my pictures to see what cake sizes are available, choice of cake flavor, choice of cake filling & decide on the available toppings such as icing, fruit & chocolate that they offer. I came in on a Tuesday morning, right when they opened & placed an order for Saturday pick up. When you schedule your cake pick up time, you can pick up your order anytime after, but give them at least 1 hour before they close of course. They need to confirm what the writing on the cake is & will decorate/write it out, so you need to wait a few minutes. I've tried a cupcake & a cinnamon roll, both were good. I am now a fan of their cookies. I'm drooling over the Chocolate Chip Cookies & will devour Zebra Cookies. They are so good! Even at $1.50 per cookie. read more

Completely overpriced for what you get. I always ask myself why I keep returning when we are in the area. This will definitely be the last time. The only cake that had me returning is the chocolate with chocolate mousse with fresh berries. The other pastries are typically dry and flavorless. The service provided is mediocre at best. I caught two of the girls whispering about another customer and making faces. As for the actual place it's decent size with some small outdoor tables and chairs. No seating inside. read more

Exercise caution. I recently purchased my sixth $80 cake for Easter. While the cakes are expensive, I consider them a special treat for occasions. Notably, I once purchased a wedding cake exceeding $400. I would consider myself a loyal customer. However, the Easter cake fell short of expectations. It was stale, and some decorations had fallen off, which I only noticed upon returning home and removing it from its packaging. Furthermore, the cake lacked freshness and did not taste like the other five $80 cakes. Regrettably, we did not save the leftovers and instead discarded it. Upon contacting the store and speaking with one of the owners, I presented a photograph of the cake and requested a refund or a replacement cake for a different occasion. Despite my repeated emails, the owner refused to accommodate my request. This situation is comparable to a restaurant refusing to replace a bad meal priced at $80, which is highly unlikely. While I acknowledge that the other cakes were of excellent quality, the last one was exceptionally poor, and the owner seemed indifferent to my previous positive experiences as a customer. Consequently, I intend to seek out a different bakery that offers superior cakes. I am sure they are not the sole provider in the area, and I am confident that another bakery will provide me with a more satisfactory experience. I guess that's why they have a three star rating with generally a five star product. read more

I had no idea this place existed and I'm glad we found it. When you walk in you're welcomed by the smell of all the fresh breads and you just want to order everything, which ... we did. My first visit to the Bread Basket! I have tried to go before but they are closed on Monday's and Sunday's, so plan accordingly. I was in search of the perfect bread to go with an Italian inspired meal. Not many bakeries in Camarillo, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem. I picked up some herb mozeralla bread and it was delicious! Maybe a little dense and thick, but moist, and seasoned well. I popped it in the oven prior to dinner and it came out toasty and warm just like fresh baked, with crunchy little bits of cheese throughout. The staff were friendly and made good suggestions. They also offer all kinds of cakes, pastries, breads, rolls and much more! Lots of unique bbq sauces, jams etc. I will return and try their pastries. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! The associate just hung up on me! When you go in the associates are RUDE. Considering the price point you would think staff would be kind. This morning, I picked up 2 items. A lemon raspberry muffin and an almond danish. While I was there, a lady came in and complained about her purchase from yesterday being stale. I had part of the muffin on my way to work, there were no raspberries AND the middle was uncooked. I just shrugged it off, things happen so I threw it away. I decided to try the danish since I was disappointed with the muffin. The danish is dry and stale. I decided to call and inform them. Talked to Linda who never apologized but tried to argue with me about the products. I've had muffins and danish before, I know the texture and flavor they should have. She acted like I was lying! Not sure why I have never left a review however, it's long overdue. Is it a requirement to only hire extremely rude employees? It has to be because everytime I have gone here the staff are rude and obviously bothered that I decided to come in. With the prices of the items here I would expect better but just alone being a nice human should be enough. Second, I ordered six or five baked items, I didn't want them to be smooshed in a bag (why would she give me a bag when all the items would be ruined was beyond me), I of course, asked for a box (again, really expensive desserts) she stated I could only have a box if I bought another item. WHAT!!! My total was already over $70 and I couldn't have a box? Or a smile or a thank you. read more
