My boyfriend brought me here on a beautiful Saturday morning (February 21, 2026 at 10:15 AM), and the weather was perfect -- which made the experience even better. The line was very short, and we were greeted right when we walked in. As we were admiring all the bakery items, it became our turn to order. The staff member at the counter was friendly and welcoming, and everything moved quickly and smoothly. The place itself is extremely clean, well-lit, and inviting. The display of desserts was impressive -- so many gorgeous options! They also offer custom cakes that we're already considering for our next celebration. The prices are very comparable to places like Whole Foods that are known for baked goods, but I genuinely feel the quality here is even better. Plus, you can walk in and out without dealing with big crowds or long waits. It feels good supporting local businesses -- especially as our community continues to grow and more people are looking for "mom and pop" spots instead of large chain stores. I've already sent videos of their dessert selection to family and friends, and I'm planning to place a cake order soon. The lack of customer service is absolutely disgusting and terrible. All the white employees treat you disrespectfully or not with the same amount of care that they would someone of their own race. This place usually has good desert, but can be a hit or miss sometimes. There are no tables inside, but there are a couple of 2 person tables outside. This place is better for a quick pick up and go. Today I tried the strawberry waffle cup and it was pretty good, but the cone was a bit soggy. Keep in mind, this was eaten a minute after ordering it. The walk in order was very simple. Just a chocolate chip cookie and a pastry. The thing that slaps you in the face is the absolute LACK of costumer service right when you walk in. Very cold reception. There was probably about 5 people behind that counter and they acted as though there were no customers in the store. A simple welcome goes a long way. Train your employees how to say hello to people that fund your business. The cookie was alright. You can get a similar quality cookie at Whole Foods. The brown butter chocolate chip cookies they sell at Whole Foods are the same quality and taste compared to the overpriced cookie they sell here. This was my first time stopping in and the gentleman behind the counter answered the few questions I had and recommended some of his favorites, which are mine! I was looking for a superior cake for my MIL's 96th birthday party. I'm pretty relaxed about all party things except the food - in this case the cake. As I've never ordered a cake in the area (Camarillo, Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme), I did a lot of research and this bakery came up often. Exercise caution. I recently purchased my sixth $80 cake for Easter. While the cakes are expensive, I consider them a special treat for occasions. Notably, I once purchased a wedding cake exceeding $400. I would consider myself a loyal customer. However, the Easter cake fell short of expectations. It was stale, and some decorations had fallen off, which I only noticed upon returning home and removing it from its packaging. Furthermore, the cake lacked freshness and did not taste like the other five $80 cakes. Regrettably, we did not save the leftovers and instead discarded it. Upon contacting the store and speaking with one of the owners, I presented a photograph of the cake and requested a refund or a replacement cake for a different occasion. Despite my repeated emails, the owner refused to accommodate my request. This situation is comparable to a restaurant refusing to replace a bad meal priced at $80, which is highly unlikely. While I acknowledge that the other cakes were of excellent quality, the last one was exceptionally poor, and the owner seemed indifferent to my previous positive experiences as a customer. Consequently, I intend to seek out a different bakery that offers superior cakes. I am sure they are not the sole provider in the area, and I am confident that another bakery will provide me with a more satisfactory experience. Completely overpriced for what you get. I always ask myself why I keep returning when we are in the area. This will definitely be the last time. The only cake that had me returning is the chocolate with chocolate mousse with fresh berries. The other pastries are typically dry and flavorless. The service provided is mediocre at best. My first visit to the Bread Basket! I have tried to go before but they are closed on Monday's and Sunday's, so plan accordingly. I was in search of the perfect bread to go with an Italian inspired meal. Not many bakeries in Camarillo, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem. I picked up some herb mozeralla bread and it was delicious! Maybe a little dense and thick, but moist, and seasoned well. I popped it in the oven prior to dinner and it came out toasty and warm just like fresh baked, with crunchy little bits of cheese throughout. The staff were friendly and made good suggestions. This morning, I picked up 2 items. A lemon raspberry muffin and an almond danish. While I was there, a lady came in and complained about her purchase from yesterday being stale. I don't understand why it is low rated but after reading the reviews I see the most complaints because of their customer service but the cake and their pastries are beyond amazing. My family and I just moved to Camarillo and we found out go to place for cakes, this is amazing. I hope they stay in business throughout this pandemic.
