I had a phantom of a task for Dee to help me make my wife's 30th birthday special by asking her to make a Unicorn cake and since it's around Halloween something around that theme. I emailed about four or five local bakeries before finding someone to create the cake I had in mind for my Dad's birthday. My dad loves gambling and has a favorite machine he plays on. Amazing cake! They were very accomodating to my request for a Minecraft themed birthday cake for my sons birthday. The cake itself looked amazing, great detail was taken. Minecraft is a blocky, pixelated style, so there were probably a hundred or so fondant squares needed, and it looked perfect, very symmetrical. They delivered it the day of the party right when requested. The kids of course loved it, and the adults were split half and half on which flavor they liked best, chocolate or vanilla. Many of our guests asked for some to take home. The kids definitely loved the vanilla with "funfetti" (not sure if I'm spelling that right). The cake itself was three tiers, and was very sturdy without sign of possible falling, separated by a bit of cardboard between layers so it wasnt too much trouble to separate them when the party was over for better storing. Dee made the recommendation to frost parts that already had fondant squares instead of another layer of fondant, which I appreciated as someone who knows little about cake. It was definitely the way to go. She also recommended vanilla with the "funfetti" as a choice for the kids, which was a great idea. Again, I don't know much about cakes so her guiding me through the choices was very helpful! I would highly recommend! I would also recommend if you are asking for something custom and complex, call at least a few weeks ahead! These things take time, and they are truly a work of art! read more

The best customer service and taste! First off their staff is all sooooooo friendly. They were easy to work with all our ideas and even added some of their own touches that made it even better. Got my husbands and my wedding cakes here and both were phenomenal. We wanted a oreo filling inside white cake and mint filling in a chocolate cake. We got married on June 24, 2017 and had made the deal with siblings before the new ownership took over. Nobody told us that this change was going to happened and we found out via coincidence about a month before. We decided to keep them because our amazing wedding planner vouched for the new ownership and honestly we had little to no other choice. After Sugar Lab Bakery left me in the lurch by cancelling my order nearly in the 11th hour (because my husband's birthday party was the day after Thanksgiving - which they knew when I placed the order), Dee came through like a champ! Not only was the custom cake great-looking and delicious, but they let me pick it up the day of the party which some other bakeries would not do as it was the day after Thanksgiving. Ordered a cake for my daughters FIRST babyshower. As I walked in and realized the bakery was under new ownership, honestly I was kind of hesitant to place my order as I KNEW that their was no room for mistakes, especially for what I was paying for the cake. Dee the new owner is the sweetest lady and took the order for a two tier cake. Sadly, though there was some sort of miscommunication as to my expectations. I ordered the first 12' tier with banana bread with fresh bananas filling of which there was bananas baked into the bread but no banana filling. Sadly, though the piece I saved to show her was given to my mother in law by mistake. Lol and just like that my proof was gone. While ordering we did not know what the second tier was going to be but was told we could call back later. Upon calling back and as the details were read back to me, I told her NO it was supposed to be like "this" and "that" and I thought the problem was fixed. This was the order: banana cake with banana filling and top layer marble with cheese cake AND strawberries with the baby duck on top made of ricecrispys wearing a big pink bow. Picked up the cake, no ricecrispy duck no bow. Dee felt bad about the mistake and did what she could to fix it. In short fillings were wrong or missing and NO ricecrispy duck bc I was told it would be to heavy but the trade off was even heavier I think. In short, the new owner is a sweet beautifully spirited lady, the texture of the cakes were awesome but the attention to my expectations were not met. There was definitely miscommunication going on. NEVER had any issues with my wedding cake or my 40th birthday cake under Shirly but hayyyyyyy it's a live and learn moment. Would I go back? Absolutely. Next time though I'll get written proof that Dee and I are on the same page. read more

We have been getting cakes from Siblings for years. This year I ordered a cake not knowing siblings was under new ownership. We asked for bright colors with flowers. What we got was pastel blue and pink fading swirls with stars. The swirls started with pink but ended with white colored frosting. The bottom of the cake was overdone and hard. The writing on the cake looked like a kid wrote it. It looked like someone started writing "Happy Birthday" to low on the cake that by the time the wrote the name it was squeezed on to fit. I went to pick up the cake at 1:15pm, the close at 2pm. The cake was still "cooling off" even though we were told it would be baked first thing in the morning. Because the cake was ordered online we were told it was a late order and she said the cake would be finished at 2pm so I had to wait 45 minutes. I'm so very disappointed. Before the new owners, Siblings NEVER let us down. I plan to find another bakery as I will never go back to Siblings and I will no longer recommend them to friends and family. What a disaster. A month before the party, we spent more than an hour on the phone with them. We sent them a zillion photos. Two days before the cake was to be made, they called and left a message about "finding some email but not having an order." We called in and they had the wrong day. On the correct day, they called thirty minutes before the cake was to be done - for a surprise party - and said it would be an extra thirty minutes or more. When we did get there thirty minutes after the time we had agreed upon a month earlier, they wouldn't even show us the cake. They just nervously asked us to bring the car around. They hustled the cake into the car and we barely got a look. But they were more than happy to take our $180.00. When we got home and really got a look at it, we saw what a mess it was. It was sloppy and falling over and the pattern was not at all as we requested. It was a massive, gross, frosting mess and we were so embarrassed to have to present it at this massive 60th Birthday party. The taste was less than mediocre as well. We feel completely taken. We are reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. We are contacting our local media that covers customers' rights. And we are planning to get a refund. In the meantime, we will be sharing this information with as many people as possible, which shouldn't be too hard since I myself am a part of the national media. Very disappointed, terrible customer service. I found several favorable reviews on yelp so I decided to give Siblings a call. Unfortunately, from the first sentence, the lady that called me back was brusque and unhelpful. She asked what flavor I wanted for fillings so naturally I asked what they offered. She gave a list of three or four flavors and ended with the fact that the list was endless. So not knowing what to ask for, I asked if she could recommend anything. When I asked for suggestions she had an attitude and said there was no way to give suggestions because she didn't know what I liked. Instead of going on the defensive and had she had a polite bone in her body I would have anticipated her telling me what the most popular favors or her favorite favors or at the very least give me a longer list of favors. Most of the reviews seem to be from wedding cakes so perhaps my small 1/4 sheet cake request was too small a job for them and she didn't want to be bothered. If that is your business model, you should state a minimum order on your website instead of indicating you do cakes for all occasions. This would have saved both of us time and I could have also been able to avoid dealing with such a rude and unprofessional business. read more

I recently had a cake done by Dee (the new owner) at siblings bakery for my sons 4th birthday and it was absolutely amazing to say the least! She exceeded my expectations and brought sooo much joy to my sons birthday with the amazing cake she did. I sent her some pictures telling her what I liked and didn't like, and she added some stuff she thought would look good. She took the extra time and effort to do the hot wheel loop at the top of the cake which was a little hard. Other bakery's refused to do the cake because of the loop, but not Dee! And she did an amazing job with it! The loop did not fall AT ALL. I recently drove over to the location in Ventura and ordered a birthday cake for my wife. I specifically asked for a Caramel Toffee Crunch birthday cake. I pad $74 for it. When I picked it up, she said she mistakenly put the number 40 on the cake and wiped it off (my wife is not 40 yet). I got the cake and came home. There was no Caramel, no Toffee and now crunch. It was a regular cake and extra sweet and honestly, no one liked it. 90% of the cake made its way to the trash can. The cake was horrible and when I opened the box, it looked like someone had canceled an order and instead of making me what I wanted, she decided to pass the canceled cake to me.
