This week's box had coconut passionfruit lime, strawberry lemon meringue and banana cream. Truly cannot choose a favorite, these were three of the most beautiful, bursting with flavor slices of pie I have ever had. I don't even know if I liked pie before this order, but now it might be my favorite dessert!? These slices are high-end, decadent desserts that are well worth it. It's clear that Skylar is passionate about her pies and is so, so talented. Cannot wait to place my next order!

Once a friend of…read moremine told me she had tried them and said they tasted as good as they looked, I knew I had to track some down to taste for myself. She was absolutely right! Skylar posted her pies for the week on Wednesday on her Instagram account, and I was able to purchase a pie slice box (3 different slices for $35) for pick up in Ventura on Sunday. This week's pies were strawberry cream, lemon with meringue, and coconut cream. They were all beautifully decorated and baked to perfection. The coconut cream was my favorite because it had a salty crust that paired well with the sweet coconut. But honestly, they were all so delicious! I will definitely be re-ordering more of these pie slices soon. They were worth every penny.

Hiring Christine and Heirloom Baking for the cake and dessert bar for our Ojai wedding in May was…read moreeasily one of the BEST decisions we made for our wedding!!! We cannot say enough wonderful things! Christine was incredibly communicative, helpful, sweet, and so easy to work with from day one. I had seen her desserts on Instagram and immediately fell in love with the dessert bar option and all the beautiful, tasty, and artistic treats she made. I typically am not the biggest cake person, but we decided to do a small cutting cake and boy are we glad we did - by far the best cake we've ever eaten. I gave her some general guidance on style of cake decor and it was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. And every single dessert was incredible - there was so much hype from our guests during and after our wedding about the desserts. Christine was so helpful in recommending options, quantities, and cake flavors based on our preferences. We didn't try a thing before our wedding day but felt so confident in her and she did not disappoint!! Would 10/10 (AND THEN SOME!) recommend Christine for ANY dessert needs. And when it comes to wedding planning, do yourself a favor and make this such a easy, stress-free, and tassssssty/beautiful decision! Pics by: @wearemattandjess

The first bite was interesting. The combo tasted good, but the shredded cheese wasn't melted and was still cold. So, imagine a warm egg, bacon and potato bite then a refrigerator cold shredded cheese takes over your mouth. A weird feeling, not sure if I liked it. If the cheese isn't going to be melted, I think it would be better at room temperature. The bell pepper was nice, it gave each bite a nice texture. The white mocha was tasty. It was a pretty typical white chocolate mocha with a creamy taste on every sip. Service here was friendly and helpful. The employees were cleaning and wiping things down when not helping customers which is a nice sense of pride that they have in their store. The restaurant was very clean, and had plenty of indoor and patio seating.

The Farmer and the Cook -- Fresh Finds Off the Main Road…read more I'll be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect walking in for the first time, but The Farmer and the Cook won me over pretty quickly. It's bright, clean, and has this easy organic warmth to it... the kind of place that feels like it was put together by people who actually care. Right off the main road, easy to find, and the family vibes are real. It's the kind of spot you want to linger in. If you're navigating dietary restrictions, this place is a quiet goldmine. Strong gluten free options, a genuinely vegan friendly menu, and plenty of vegetarian choices too... so everyone at the table actually gets to eat something they're excited about. That's rarer than it should be. The food? Solid. I went with the raw tacos, sopes, and huarache; all filling, all fairly priced for the area. The raw tacos especially surprised me... fresh, flavorful, and not in a "I wish this was a real taco" kind of way. These hold their own. Service was quick and most of the staff had a warm, genuine energy about them. The one small snag; the cashier seemed to be having a rough one. A little gruff, made me feel like my first visit was mildly inconvenient for them. It happens, we all have bad days, but first impressions do stick a little. Overall though, I'm absolutely coming back. There's more on that menu calling my name and an atmosphere that makes it easy to slow down for a bit. Whether you're vegan, gluten free, or just looking for something fresh and honest... this one's worth the stop.
