I ate the apple pie one last and it had a little actual apple pie filling inside of it! LOVE THAT!! It feels sacrilegious of me to say, but I think the cupcakes have just a little too much frosting. It's also fair to say these are not cheap cupcakes. You can taste the quality of the ingredients, and they look beautiful, and you pay a premium for all that. Today, on our way back from central CA we stopped off at Cafe Nouveau for breakfast. I think we were their first customers of the day. They helped us navigate thru the back patio with the walker to a well situated spot. Jason, our server was attentive and knowledgeable providing recommendations on what to order, spice levels, and comparisons between breakfast options. Jason B was great and represented Cafe N very well. We usually drive up to Cambria / Paso twice a year. We have found our new spot to stop off and break up the drive with a tasty meal. While I appreciated her kindness, it felt awkward, and I didn't want to create any turmoil or drama over a 7$ bundtlet. I also expressed that my intention was to buy two more. To make matters worse, the customer in front of me was facing the same issue. It's someone's birthday--how hard can it be to acknowledge that and provide a little extra something? They carry Santa Barbara cookies, a great self-serve coffee beans section and lots of gluten-free and vegan options. Some of the prices are comparable to Whole Foods but some were even higher. Most common items sell for $2-3 more than what you would pay for at Sprouts or Vons. This is a convenient location to my home close to The Ave and I can see how this would be a great place to shop when making a special recipe. Those Taco Works Chips are fire, Yo. But as good as those chips are, they don't come close to the exalted excellence of the magnificent Torres brand Chips, imported from Spain. Ventura Ranch Market has a fantastic selection of Torres Chips. They have my favorite flavors, like Iberian Ham, and Mediterranean Herbs. They also have some flavors I've never seen, like Fried Egg, and Caviar. Honestly, I would try any flavor of Torres Chips, I don't care how weird they might sound. Those chips are freaking excellent. Ventura Ranch Market also carries my current favorite brand of Tortilla Chips, La Rosa. They're nice and thick and fried a little darker than most major brand commercial totopos. I like that. Another super great thing about this amazing little market is they carry Rosa Brothers Milk in glass bottles. I love milk in glass bottles! Especially Chocolate milk.
