Magnificent! I had no idea how special this place would be, until I actually experienced it! Originally we had wanted to visit the area because of the Michelangelo steps. By the way, there are steps everywhere, but depending on where you're standing, the views of Florence are spectacular. This probably is one of the most romantic places ever. In fact, a small wedding was taking place overlooking the city. La Loggia just adds to everything. It literally is not only the only, but the most perfect dining spot ever. I highly recommend dining outdoors. Despite the fact that everyone seems to smoke, which is bothersome to me, the outdoor seating really is perfect. The menu is wonderfully extensive, and the food that they offer for their outdoor seating versus the indoor seating is definitely different. I would highly recommend dining indoors if you are having dinner, but as I said, brunch or lunch definitely is an outdoor experience. Two words... French fries. Their french fries are perfectly crispy, tender inside, and perfectly salted. As silly as it sounds, I could've eaten just french fries, and been thrilled. The cheeseburger was absolutely to die for. Cooked perfectly, it was pink inside, juicy, and perfectly grilled. Then they use some sort of cheese spread on the bun and burger, which just added a lovely layer of flavor to each bite. The wait staff is a mix of super nice and helpful, to totally disengaged for most customers. Don't let that discourage you. This is truly a lovely place to dine and taken the sites. Definitely walk the steps, take pictures by the fountain and the statues that are across the walkway, and you will have without a doubt lovely memories. The restrooms are rather interesting, they're located inside the restaurant, which has artwork that you normally would not find in most dining establishments. This was one of many amazing pastas I had on my trip to Italy. Amazing red sauce for the pasta. Idk how they hand make their pasta but whatever they're doing is great, leaves you feeling full but not heavy. Can never go wrong with fried shrimp and they nailed it on the tomato/habenero dipping sauce. Perfect spicy balance. Overall, a pricey meal that was worth it considering the taste and views. Our food was delicious, however, we left this restaurant feeling neglected. There were 4 in our party. We arrived very worn out from a long day. Our Airbnb did not have hot water and we had a crazy time trying to find another place to stay. We were looking forward to a delicious meal with a beautiful view. 1. When I asked the hostess for a table for 4, she said "maybe you would prefer burgers and fries in the Bistro". I said, "no we prefer pasta" she sighed with frustration and went to chat with another employee to find us a table. 2. We were seated at the worst table in the outside area of the restaurant. Right next to the work station. We asked to be seated at another open table and we were told "this us not possible because of reservations ". We looked at that empty table in a better location for the entire time if our meal. No one ever came to sit there. 3. We orders our drinks and meals, the service during this time was good, but once the food came our server did not come back. No one asked if we needed anything more, finally we called another server over and asked if we could order dessert. He took our order for one cannoli, one serving of gelato and 2 after dinner drinks. We waited at least 35 minutes for this dessert. No one returned during that time to see if we wanted water or another beer or anything at all. We just sat at the table waiting for any attention. 4. We never saw the original server again. We paid our bill of $199 euros and left. Such a huge disappointment. This place had so much potential for a great night, but the service ruined it for us. read more

Absolute perfect location to hangout and take in some of the view of the Piazza de Michelangelo. Your view isn't complete because you are a ways back from the edge, even so it's a nice place to have a drink while resting and relaxing. No reservations are needed, first come first served. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening. The menu is limited but more than sufficient for the location. The service was a bit slow but maybe due to being busy, this the four stars. It may be a little overpriced but we just shared a couple of appetizers and a few drinks to take in the views and the incredible sunset. We had the beef tartar that was sadly under seasoned and just ok. However, the Tagliere della Loggia was perfect. It was a large spread with the most delicious caramelized onions I have ever had. As we approached we saw the building lit up in beautiful lights. Across the street was the pizza michaelangelo that we visited after dinner for stunning views of the city. A few buses were parked there for tours to jump out and see. We were seated in the tented area of the restaurant. White table cloths. We were not on the edge so we did not get a great view. The tent sides were down and the windows were plastic so perhaps a warmer evening they would be open. Started with charcuterie which was fantastic. Pasta with octopus, ravioli with bolognese was delicious. The star of the meal was the huge florentine steak! Brought out sizzling and sliced so it was easy to share. You are paying for the stunning view - it really is breathtaking. We stopped to have a bit to eat, drink, and enjoy the beautiful day. It's a lovely location directly overlooking the city situated on the hilltop. I ordered a delightful little cheeseplate (20 euros) that went perfectly with my glass of wine and my friend ordered a burger (18-22 euros). Her burger was dry and tasteless but, hey, that's what she gets for ordering a burger in Italy. My cheeseplate was wonderful - great cheese and compotes. It was a little pricey per the serving but, once again, you are paying for the view. I would've marked them higher had it not been for their service - really bad. The lady was clearly overwhelmed (by 3 tables mind you) and didn't know what she was doing. She would literally bring out each drink and dish one by one, made no sense. She had a hard time multi tasking. So what should've been a 45 minute light lunch turned into 2 hours as she was MIA most of the time or rushing to bring a table one item at a time. Piazza Michelangelo is on a hill on the south bank of the Arno River, just east of the center of Florence, and offers a stunning view of the city.  It doesn't really matter what time of the day you get there because in both day and night you can see a spectacular view of Florence. You can also find a bronze copy of David statue there. If you're just walking from downtown Florence, you could just pass the Arno River which is a scenery itself and then walk up to the Piazza Michelangelo although I have to admit that the walk gets a little intense with all the stairs that you need to climb up. you can also take a bus or drive up there and there is a 72 spot dedicated parking that you can use to park your car there. By the way, while you are up there, probably it's a good idea to chill out in La Loggia Del Piazzale Michelangelo which has a great view of the Piazzale Michelangelo and the city and also drinks and environment were great there. read more

Omg, this was one of my favorite meals in Europe, ever. We wandered around Florence for a day, not sure if we could fit in the Piazza de Michelangelo after the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio. The Ponte was so cute, we thought we'd have lunch around there but decided to make our way to Michelangelo since the city seemed small enough. We didn't know it was uphill, and then WOWWWWWWW. The view was amazing. And then WOWWW, I WANT TO EAT THERE!! Sitting on top of the Piazza de Michelangelo, with the amazing view of the city, is La Loggia, with a very Italian villa-y look. It had a cute outdoor cafe area, an elegant outdoor dining area, and grand indoor dining, and gardens and sofas around it. It was still early enough that we were the first and had the closest spot with the best view. We started with the "tuscan" appetizer mix which was like pate, salami, and prosciutto. Nothing special. My boyfriend got the duck pasta. The texture of the pasta was very chewy, in a good way. Even though there was sauce, I found the duck a little dry. I got the seafood bowl which was absolutely delicious. I don't typically like mussels, but these were so tender, along with the clams and shrimp. My boyfriend started eating a lot more of mine, so I thought we might need to order another, but it still ended up being enough to satisfy us both. Minus all the cars, the view is absolutely magical and I could stay there forever. read more

It's a trap. Great location. I did not have a reservation but was told I could sit on the bar side of the terrace. When I asked if it was still the full menu, I was told yes. I had a very nice experience here. When I arrived there was a private event and the seating for the public was not obvious. The host was gracious and extremely professional. She walked me over to the area where I could order a drink. My server was lovely. However I did observe tables that received inconsistent and slow service. Servers seem flustered and frustrated and once I was served I never saw my server again. Overall staff seems a bit disorganized. Outside of that it is a wonderful place to have a drink and a small bite to eat. The view is perfect and the outside seating is lovely. I ordered a glass of Vermentino, Bruschetta and a plate of Pecorino cheese. The Bruschetta was the best I ever had!! Absolutely delicious, fresh and perfectly seasoned. The cheese was also amazing and the Vermentino wine went perfectly with both. Both plates were a generous amount and I was surprised to see that the bill was $22 Euros, which I found quite reasonable. Then again I am from Nyc. It is absolutely worth making a stop here. You can relax and enjoy a nice glass of wine, good food with a wonderful view of florence and Piazzale Michelangelo without the crowds. It is also a wonderful place to see the sunset. Tourist Trap! Amazing view, but horrible service. The food is very over priced, I ordered a truffle pasta and it was cold and had no taste. The manager was very rude from the beginning. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, there were at least ten empty tables at the garden in which we were seated. As we were waiting to order our food, the manager came and took our menus saying "we could not take the whole day to order our food" and did not take our order. When we asked for the menu to finally order, he gave only one menu for the whole table. When we finished eating, we ordered desserts (a chocolate cake that apparently takes 20 minutes to cook), the manager left and came back one minute later saying he could not take the order because we needed to leave the table in 10 minutes for him to seat another family even though there were many empty tables, and it would take more than that for us to eat dessert. We immediately ordered the check and left. I hope tourists don't make the same mistake as my family and I did by going there! read more

Attempted to dine here today to no avail. There are a couple of menus at the entrance for you to peruse before making your way in. The prices were on par with other restaurants I'd eaten at while in Italy, so why not? The views are phenomenal and the ambiance looked inviting. Boy, was I wrong. I rarely give one star reviews but the experience that I had today warrants it. The place is noticeably different compared to the other restaurants in the area: from the outside looking in, you'd think it was upscale just based on its decor and the attire of the servers alone. But after scanning the crowd and seeing everyone more than casually dressed, I decided to go for it, against my better judgment. Upon entering, I asked the bartender if I could sit in his area since I did not want to be outside, it was unseasonably chilly this day. The tables were set and menus were out, but it was empty. He responded "no", and advised that I needed to sit out on the patio. Fine. I made my way to the hostess station outside, where I was summarily ignored; one host even looked me in the face, turned around and walked off. I should have left right then, but another server approached (while laughing) and asked if I'd be dining or drinking. I said "both", and asked where I could sit since I was alone. Her response was "wherever you want". Cool. I take a two seater with killer views up front, and there I sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged any further. I looked around at the 5 or 6 other patrons in the large restaurant, and most were already eating or drinking. I look the other way and see the servers chatting up the rude bartender from earlier. I decided that it was time to go. I clearly wasn't going to get any service here. On my way out, the bartender gave me a shady smirk. That's what I get for going against my gut and entering this "fru fru" establishment in the first place. To say that this experience was insulting is an understatement. I chalked it up to me being alone, but who really knows what their problem was? Either way, the staff here were beyond rude and horrendously unprofessional. Searching for the best view of the city of Firenze? Go to il Piazzale Michelangelo. Looking for an elegant seat with a beautiful bottle of wine to share with loved ones while taking in this magnificent view? Go to La Loggia. Yes, it is on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for in the superior service, extensive drink and wine list, and did I mention the view? I have yet to try the food here, other than what is brought as an aperitivo. After all, when I come here, it is always in the afternoon in between meals, and typically just to awe company. If you do decide to go here for drinks, my advice is to do so maybe around 4pm to enjoy the sunset over the city. Che bella vista! read more
