We came here as part of a tour and had a fixed menu of bruschetta, lasagna, and chianti. Since our tour called in our participation in the optional lunch in advance, we arrived, got seated immediately, the wine and bread was already on the tables, and the bruschetta and lasagna came shortly after. They were very efficient and we were in and out of there within an hour. All bottles of chianti were gone over good conversation and we were on our merry way walking through Florence. I would definitely return. read more

Nice place off the beaten path. The food was inexpensive and fresh. The service was fair however it was a little busy so I may be ranking this a bit low. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. The spicy stewed beef pasta is simply the best I have had! The pasta was cooked perfectly (in many places in Italy they cook too al dente in my opinion), the beef melted in my mouth and the sauce was a perfect combination of savory and umami. Food arrived very quickly, in about 10 minutes despite of them being very busy during lunchtime. The restaurant has a traditional and tasteful classic Tuscany decor. The place is warm, welcoming and conveniently located near Santa Croce basilica. read more

A Favorite in Florence! The ambiance puts you into a true time capsule. With a restaurant that opened shortly after WWII, you feel like you are eating in that time period with its old dining area, house made wine, candle lit dinner tables, and 50s music. The food was incredible, all fresh and served very quickly. One of my new favorites in Florence but also in the world. read more

Outstanding. We wanted to get some steak a La Fiorentina and Casa Toscana didn't disappoint. Perfect dinner, with a great antipasto of pasta with a truffle purée, followed by the great steak, served just a shade above rare, rosemary potatoes, a wonderful salad and dessert. Beautiful atmosphere in keeping with Florence's renaissance history. Outstanding service. Perfect meal. Can't recommend highly enough. read more

When I think of a classic northern Italian ristorante, Trattoria Casa Toscana makes my list. The food here is delicious. They use basil liberally and the layering of flavors in their food are incredible. Growing up on the east coast, I really enjoyed the flavors of Sicily, with its use of garlic, oregano and red peppers. That is not what Casa Toscana is all about. This is a white table cloth place, around the corner from the Piazza Santa Croce. It's family run, with a rich history of preparing things fresh and made to order One of our young servers discussed visiting her relatives in Pennsylvania when she was younger. She described her surprise over how basic the local Italian food scene was and how she couldn't wait to get back home to Florence. Our small group started off with an appetizer of Caprese Con Bufalo (see photo). Btw, they have their Chianti bottled for them and it had a nice balance of flavor, without a sharp alcohol residue. I would certainly recommend it. Next up was Lasagna Bolognese (photo). You could see little bits of carrots and onions in the sauce. It was very tasty, that made you want it linger on your palate a while longer. I make it at home too, but theirs had a nice layered flavors to it. Yum. For dessert, we had a real treat. We were served a delicious Panna Cotta (photo). Yum. It had a creamy milk panna cotta with a chocolate wild berries sauce. We were allowed to linger, finishing our wine at a different table and thought, what a wonderful way to end a lunch in Florence. https://www.trattoriacasatoscana.com/eat Five Stars. Restaurant is in an ally there are tables outside , but it was a pretty warm day so we choose to sit indoors , it's a charming old and homey , makes you realize your sitting and going to be eating a meal in ITALY . I just had to order the Fagioli al fiasco had it here before still as delicious as I remember it just cannellini beans But just delicious , also the Tagliere di salami toscani (salami and assorted cheeses and olives), main dish was the Bistecca all a Florentina di scottona (steak thick cut from Chianina cow) cooked med rare topped with large flaked salt it was melt in your mouth pure steak heaven. Service was very good and we were lucky we got there before there was a crowd . When I go back to Florence I will be going back to Casa Toscana four the same meal. Loved it that much. read more

This was a great find! We stumbled upon this place after leaving the basilica Santa Croce. Quaint with great service. Can accommodate large groups if you need that. The food was delicious. My favorite restaurant in Florence Fabulous menu, every thing was delicious with large portions. Great variety for both meat eaters and vegetarians Went with a group of 35 and we all loved our food. Great service, great ambience. A must go to restaurant when in Florence. Hearty Tuscan food, like you are in your Italian Grandmother's kitchen read more

Did a walking tour of Florence and stopped in here for a quick bite to eat as we had a half hour before meeting up with the rest of the group. My better half had the prosciutto and melon, and I had the fresh pasta with cherry tomatoes, eggplant, basil and salty ricotta cheese. Good stuff. read more

This restaurant was recommended by our tour guide. While the food was good, it wasn't anything special. Also, we paid by credit, were not given a receipt, and were substantially overcharge. We only had water, along with sharing an appetizer and each having a meal, which totaled 41 Euros (~$48.00). However, when I later checked my credit card account, the total was 64 Euros (~$75.00). read more

Our Italian guide recommended this place so after a few hours in museums, we stopped by. We started with Rose de Montalcino wine. It's a nice red Italian wine. For food: Italian charcuterie of meats, cheeses and olives. Two different salami's, two different olives and cheese. Very nice! I had the vegetable soup. A very thick vegetable soup almost like stuffing. Flavorful and delicious! Served tepid, I would have liked it warmer. My SO had the pumpkin soup with risotto. Rich, flavorful and creamy. Served hot it was the highlight of the meal for us! It gets a huge recommend! read more

Just steps away from our VRBO apartment and Piazza Santa Croce on a quiet side street. Wonderful ambience. Attentive service, nice wines and delicious food. We enjoyed the prosciutto with fried dough and straccino cheese, the pasta "piccantino" was the best. I'd have it again. The pappardelle al cinghiale was also delicious as was the arista al forno alla Florentina. Highly recommend. We might even return during this trip read more

Simply the best. Better than all the usual tourist restaurants. I feel bad writing this because I don't want it to blow up, but the food was too good and well priced not to leave a review. I can't say how much I loved this restaurant and still do it justice. The food is so perfect. Everything is so fresh and so flavorful. I had a steak stew over thick spaghetti pasta. The stew was like a brisket that just melted. The pasta was so fresh and so perfectly cooked that every bite was heavenly. My wife had the tagliatelle pasta with roasted cherry tomatoes and burrata cheese. So perfect and so simple but the best meal we have had in our five days in Rome or Florence. Absolutely love this restaurant. It's a little out of the way but the quality of the food and the superb service make this a must visit in Florence! read more

Great pasta in a busy area in Firenze. It was recommended by the tour guide and it was a great experience. Servers are flying back and forth nonstop bringing food and wine. The pace is slow though, they take their time to bring every course and the check at the end. If you're in a hurry you might not enjoy it as much. Great place overall, you should go. read more

Casa Toscana was one of my favorite restaurants during our trip throughout Italy. I would honestly say that the best pasta we had during our whole trip came from this place. Their house wine is delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Pennette All'Arrabbiata (Penne pasta with hot & spicy tomato sauce). It was simple, yet rich. I ordered the Rigatoni Con Salsiccia Toscana & Crema Di Tartufo (Rigatoni with Tuscan Pork Sausage Sauce & Black Truffle Cream). It was incredible. The bread was crusty and yummy. The wine was delicious. Our server was so sweet and so friendly. She had a restaurant full of people she was helping. I admired her for keeping such a friendly attitude while she was working so quickly. The atmosphere in this restaurant is very cozy. It's great for both couples and large families. The prices are very reasonable. I plan on visiting Florence again and I'll definitely be returning to Cafe Toscana. read more

I ate dinner here with a large group. We were served salad, appetizer, entree, and dessert. As a vegetarian, I ate steamed veggies with a side of french fries. Nothing spectacular but it was good. We kept running out of water but the waiters were so busy and couldn't bring us water fast enough. Charming restaurant, clean bathroom, good food and service. I wouldn't mind coming back. read more
