Truly the best food we had while we were in Rome. Fantastic location, making it relatively easy to walk to from many of the major tourists sites. The staff were super friendly and accommodating to explain various dishes. This place is ridiculously busy, and they are constantly shuffling tables around, so just be prepared for that if they need to move you around to get other customers seated. Went it for a happy hour special, looking for a drink and a light snack. The restaurant was cleanly, simply decorated and had both indoor and outdoor seating. The street guy who "invited" us in took us to a tabletop display that showed 2 drinks and 2 snacks. He spoke good English and said each drink comes with its own snack. Perfect! We sat down and ordered 1 of each, expecting to have 2 snacks plates. The order came quickly but only 1 snack plate:olives with ruffles (type potato chip). Superfast service, got a table right away for three. Servers were super fast and accommodating. Our food came out in about 10 minutes. We love the fettuccine with mushrooms and pecorino. We found this place by accident, there's so many restaurants in this area. We decided to come in and sit down and eat, and it was great. The wine was great. Had a really bad and rude experience from Antico Osteria di Pietra down the street so we came here to La Locanda del Tempio. Boy am I glad we did. The staff was really nice and wanted to get us out of the down pour of rain we were experiencing. The food was fresh and delicious. Had a couple drinks after eating to wait out the rain. Bathroom is down stairs so it may not be the best option for someone that cannot use the stairs. Either way, solid place from every perspective. read more

When we walked there they told us they don't have any seats inside, and they made us sit outside. Even though we asked if we could sit inside. What was funny that they kept sitting guests inside and grabbing people off the streets to come eat at their restaurants. And the couple sitting next to us . The waiter said to them we can sit you guys in if you want but when we asked they told us to make reservations because it's a big restaurants but then why grabbing people off street to eat at your restaurant. The vibe didn't feel inviting pr welcoming it felt very unfair and racism. The food was very mild and medium. We were walking towards the Pantheon after seeing the Trevi Fountain & a guy was standing outside this restaurant with samples of food. We tried the samples & thought it was really good. So after the Pantheon we came here for a late lunch. Hubby & I had the bruschetta with tomatoes as an appetizer. I ordered the gnocchi with tomato & basil. Hubby had the meat Lasagna. Everything was fresh & sooooo yummy! We were very pleased. The waitstaff also spoke a good amount of English. The menu is available in English & there are lots of options for people who have allergies or different food preferences. The price came to 34 Euros for our meal including a drinks (bottled water & coke). There are only two washrooms in the restaurant & they are located in the basement. They were clean at least. And the decor of the restaurant is cute. There's a Pinocchio up on the wall. LOL. It's not a large restaurant but it's got everything essential to a good restaurant in my mind. This was our last stop for dinner on our Rome trip! It is located on a busy alley street with lots of people walking by, so you get a true Roman experience of dining outside when sitting on their patio. It really is a beautiful area. I could tell that our waiter was trying to work on his English, but I wish he would have just stuck with Italian since my husband is fluent and could understand him. It was clear he was having difficulty understanding us and he had to ask many clarifying questions about basic information. He was also pretty pushy with wanting us to order right away. After repeatedly saying we needed more time, we hardly ever saw him again! We waited 15-20 mins then eventually had to ask another waiter to take our order. Service was not great, but the food was excellent! We started with caprese salad and olives, both were light and nice to have with a glass of wine. I had their four cheese gnocchi for my primi which was a perfect balance of flavors. I was nervous about the blue cheese being too overpowering, but it balanced out the other cheeses to ensure it was not too rich. I've never had individual gnocchi that are this small, but they were delicious and just the right consistency. My husband got the amatriciana which is a pasta with red sauce. He thought it was well cooked and the sauce was tasty! For our secondi entrees, we got the saltimbocca and the scallopina. We had a lot of food but loved it all! The menu has English translation and they also have wifi. With plenty of restaurant options in Rome, I'm not sure if I would come to this one again because of the service. However, it is still a solid choice to get some nice authentic Italian food! read more

We walked from the trevi fountain, looking for food. We happen to bond this place as we stroll along. The menu is outstanding. The staff is friendly. The food is incredible. We started with the zucchini blossoms, stepped with salmon and cheese. The better was very light. The interior was phenomenal. We ordered the lasagna, and the salmon with baked potato. The lasagna was light the pasta exquisite and satiated my need first trying the Italian pasta. The salmon was a little overcooked but the baked potatoes were outstanding the best my daughter has ever had. I recommend this place to anybody. Just find it online and come here. read more

This was my first experience of Real Italian food as we just arrived in Rome and we looking for something to eat. We came upon this place and they quickly made room for us outside in a nice table. There are so many small cafes with outside seating it's almost impossible to select one. We were quickly seated and I ordered a margerita pizza as the choices were vast and I was a little overwhelmed. For a plain pizza, it was outstanding. Maybe I was hungry from walking all day but this pizza was really good. I had pizza many more times while in Europe but this was one of the best. Out of all the restaurants I went to Italy, none was I more impressed with than this place. Walking around hungry in Roma at 5:30 PM, my group stumbled upon a cafe called La Locanda Del Tempio. If you come before 6 PM, you can get "happy hour" pricing on some basic Italian dishes and fishes [sweet, that rhymed.] Seven euros for a pasta dish in a touristy area is pretty reasonable - but they make you tip on top of it, something that happens rarely in Europe. Stick to the pasta, as it's great. I thought the sea bass tasted just "ok", but we did only pay 12 euros for it. Splitting a sea bass and pasta between two people will make you just full enough, and give you a good balance of different food. Avoid the happy hour sodas for 2 euros, as they're "fountain" drinks and watered down. One of the guys serving us was an old Italian man who doesn't know how to speak too much English, but has a sense of humor that will get you laughing. He joked with our group by telling me that I was a pimp [ok ok - I WAS at dinner with 5 girls], clowned on a member of our party because she asked how much refills were, and proceeded to toy with our camera when we wanted him to take a picture. Overall, great experience and probably the best pasta I had in Italy. The service was great too. For once, I didn't feel like an American (aka getting treated like dirt). EDIT: TripAdvisor gives mixed reviews about how this place is a "tourist trap," most likely because they use the words "happy hour." I still stand by this place, so go out and try it. read more

So I'm a bit torn on this review, but seeing as it's only 3-stars, I had to give it 4 today. We arrived a little early for lunch (by about 10-minutes) so the kitchen wasn't quite open yet. But we were trying to escape the rain by finding somewhere yummy, and the menu here looked promising. The waiter was very nice and let us know while the kitchen wasn't open yet, he'd be happy to seat us, get us drinks and let us peruse the menu. The atmosphere here is very nice. You can see some of the original brick exposed at archways and on the ceiling in the front room, but the rest has been beautiful smoothed over and painted a lovely dark red. For a small space, it feels quite large inside. The trip tot he bathroom is a little scary, but fairly common for Rome. A steep, narrow, turning staircase to the basement, but it was clean (and bonus: had a toilet seat), so no complaints here. We ordered the mixed seafood anitpasto to start, and boy am I so glad we did. Everything on the plate was absolutely delicious and surprisingly light! My husband ordered the cacio e peppe, and I ordered the grilled salmon. His was fantastic, and quickly becoming a new favorite dish of ours. Mine was a little disappointing. While the salmon was perfectly seared, there was no seasoning on it and I kept having to pull pin bones out of my mouth. But everything else was so good, I'd absolutely recommend anyone to come here. Since it's kind of in between many of the tourist sites, the pricing is more than reasonable and the service was fantastic. read more

I know a lot of people say they had the best pizza in a number of places in Rome but this was the best for me. The crust was very thin and crisp and the toppings were well prepared. They allow take away during lunch but not at dinner so we ate dinner there as well. I will say the food was really fresh and home styled, I really liked the taste of everything. I had the chicken in tomato sauce and it is a primi but man, those portions are HUGE. My cousin had the secondi and she literally got 4 chicken breasts. And the prices are low too, mine was 9 euro and hers was 14. They also have good drinks and desserts but I would order them with the meal since they run out pretty quickly. The place is packed with tourists and stays busy till about 1130 at night. I would come back here anytime. read more

This is a restaurant that I would gladly fly halfway around the world for. And In fact, I sort of did. I came back to Rome, safely and covid protected of course, and the first place I went to after I was safe to go out was here. This is the second time coming here and Anna and Francesco and their whole team make you feel like family or 'parenti' and it fills your heart and stomach. Tried the sample of marinara pizza(no cheese) and just had to come back after our tour! The sauce is seasoned incredibly well and the crust is perfectly thin giving you the best Roman pizza! (Best pizza of our whole 15 day trip). Doesn't look like much and is around a lot of tourist traps, but definitely walk by and sample the pizza! read more
