I stopped by LaFarm Bakery in Raleigh, North Carolina, and had a really nice experience. I even ended up having a great conversation with a veteran who works in the kitchen cooking -- that was a special touch for me. The restaurant itself is very clean with a calm, Panera-Bread type vibe. The décor is nice, the bathrooms were clean, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. By the time I arrived, it was about an hour before closing, so they had already run out of chicken and turkey. Since I don't eat pork, that limited my food options a bit. But I ordered the Margarita Pizza, and let me tell you -- it was soft, flavorful, and really good. I would definitely order it again. Their menu is impressive with a lot of variety: sandwiches, wraps, salads, pizzas, juices, cocoa, and even items you can buy as gifts or treats for yourself. I would absolutely go back, just a little earlier next time so I can try more of their dishes. read more

This is the second time la farm bakery in Raleigh disappointed me.today I had a chicken salad sandwich,the bread stale, fruit hard and potatoes were cold. Twice I paid for an unediable lunch. Prices high, if the food was good I would say it was worth it. However it was not. read more

The baked goods are decent but the food is unbelievably mid. I recommend the white chocolate baguette and the almond croissant is pretty good. I don't like the scones at all. The potatoes are like wet? They're not at all what you would expect for breakfast potatoes or home fries. Let's just say that after eating it ourselves I'm not surprised at all by the plates on the patio from previous diners with their potato basically untouched. The fruit on the breakfast plates is solid. The chicken bacon focaccia sandwich has tomato and isn't dry but also feels like it's missing something? It could use a handful of arugula to bring it together. The employee said "I would skip it" when asked about the jam and toast. He said their sandwiches and spinach quiche and croque madame are good though. We have tried the avocado toast at a different location and it can only be described as bizarre. It is like a southwestern twist on avocado toast and comes with beans and corn!?! If you enjoy avocado toast in the way that it is generally prepared then skip that too. Kids don't mind the food though! And the patio is dog friendly. Ambiance is noisy cuz it's not a great location and it's by busy roads and you may get the occasional schizophrenic pushing their shopping cart and screaming obscenities eating your breakfast with your family. But it's probably not as obvious dining indoors? Stick to the breads and to-go items. Don't bother with the hot meals. read more

If European baked goods are your passion, the croissant should be your master focus. She has no flavor or texture here. Slow pace, chickory coffee- just get the breakfast ciabatta situation that involves eggs, cheese, meat. It gets the job done. read more

Just happened to stop in on the day this LA Farm location opened and we were so pleasantly surprised. We ended up getting a signature sourdough loaf, chocolate and coffee éclairs, a raspberry blueberry creme tart, a killer toffee, and even a President butter. We were also given a complimentary white chocolate baguette which is outstandingly delicious. The toffee is crunchy and nestled in between two chocolate layers with a light crumble topping. So tasty. The sourdough is naturally fermented and takes 3 days to make. Definitely worth checking out since the fermenting process is what gives this favorite that notable sourdough tang that you don't get with many of the commercial "sourdoughs." So happy to see another La Farm Bakery location in the Raleigh area and I will definitely be back! read more

Was so excited when they opened. Loved the menu, love a good pastry and am always on the lookout for good bread. Finally visited for lunch and left disappointed. Everything tasted like it was one day stale. The sandwich fell apart with the bread dry not moist. The $5 pastry with creme was horrible. So, I give this place an A+ for food quality and the friendly customer service, but a B for the high price tags. I'm glad that they have a N. Raleigh location on Six Forks & Wake Forest Road stocked with heat and eat meals like quiche that are already prepared for take home. Their sourdough and rye breads made locally were far superior to supermarket loaves. Great little bakery and cafe. This place is located in a strip mall so plenty of parking. Went around lunch time on a Friday and they had a wide array of fresh bread and pastries. Got a sourdough loaf and they sliced it for us as well as two cookies to go. Ordered lunch to eat in; I got the Poulet Au Fromage sandwich and my companion got the grilled cheese, both were delicious. I would definitely return. read more

I was so excited that a La Farm location was opening near my home! We drive over to Cary fairly routinely to eat at that location because the food is great and the bread and pastries superb. I will never go back to this location though! We had a terrible experience. We arrived around 12:15 on a Sunday, so expected it to be crowded with the usual after church crowd, but it was very crowded and many people were waiting around for the tiny number of tables in the place. Most of the tables are two tops while most of the groups waiting for a spot needed four tops, so I feel they made some bad choices in the small seating area. After waiting in line quite some time, I ordered a BLT like I almost always do at the Cary location. Because I was half of a group of two, we were able to find a two top table immediately, bypassing the many groups of four that had been waiting for a seat the whole time we had been in the restaurant. And then we waited for our food. And waited. And waited. I watched a woman at another table get up and take her food back to the kitchen (no idea what was wrong with it) and when we finally got our food, I understood why! My food was BARELY cooked. Most of my potatoes were cold. Not just room temp, but actually cold, like they scooped them straight from the fridge onto my plate. They were very slightly warmed on top, so presumably they touched a griddle at some point, but they needed several minutes longer to even get the chill off. Then I bit into my sandwich and realized the bacon on my BLT was barely cooked. I involuntarily crinkled up my face in distaste (I never do that!) and nearly spit it out. The bacon was cooked enough I knew it wasn't dangerous to eat at least, but it was soggy and floppy, not even the tiniest bit crispy. I would have been okay with soggy bacon except that it was mostly fat and soggy bacon fat is really unappealing. I was very hungry when we arrived and even hungrier by the time I got finally my food, so I didn't wan't to wait longer to send it back for properly cooked food. So I ate my literally ice cold potatoes, then dismantled my sandwich and removed all the bacon before eating a lettuce and tomato sandwich. I realized after we left that I didn't even get the mini scone the menu said came with the meal. So, I spent $13 plus tax and tip on a lettuce and tomato sandwich, a pile of gross bacon I left on the plate, cold potatoes, and no mini scone. I love BLTs. They are my favorite sandwich, I order them everywhere that has them, and I am not even picky. I've happily eaten anything from cheap bacon on cold Wonder Bread with mealy tomatoes and wilted lettuce to a gourmet fried green tomato BLT with brie and tangy sauce. I also love the BLTs at the Cary La Farm very much! But the one I had at this location is the worst I've ever had. It was so incredibly disappointing. My lunch companion took one look at my scrunched up face when I bit into my sandwich and asked "What's wrong?" then said "Wow, it must be terrible!" when I started removing the bacon. If I hadn't been so hungry I would have absolutely sent it back and have the kitchen redo the whole plate, but I choked it down because I just couldn't wait. The woman who sent her food back before we got ours got her plate returned to her a minute before we left the restaurant entirely, so presumably I would have had to wait for another 15-20 minutes to get my plate back too. I am giving the location two stars because the bread... OMG, the bread! It is truly delicious. In spite of my horrible bacon, the bread on my sandwich was amazing and I happily ate it. The baguette I got is divine, one of the best I've had. My companion and I both also ordered breakfast pastries that were laminated dough rolled in cinnamon sugar and filled with pastry cream. They were superb. I would have happily eaten more of the bread and the pastries! But... I will not be going back to this location and I cannot at all recommend it. BLTs are one of the simplest sandwiches there is and you can overlook many flaws if you have good, crispy bacon. My BLT didn't even come close and after waiting so long in line and so long for my food after ordering, I have no desire to go back. Guess I'll still be making the 45 minute drive to the Cary La Farm and get my tried and true BLT there! read more

Let Farm Bakery has had a wonderful reputation , however, my latest experience was far from good. My husband surprised me with a take out meal of Quiche Lorraine ( just short of burnt crust and filling was undercooked, potatoes ( mostly hard, undercooked pieces), and under ripe, small slice of canalope. The orange slice was good. This was the Six Forks location. Hope they step it up! Maybe should stick to delicious baked goods. O read more

Really disappointing how bad this location is. Pastries tasted like they had been frozen, and overpriced especially for the quality. Every table, and the drink area, was dirty (and the place was not busy at the time). Numbers weren't given to customers to put in the holder at the table so the person serving had to ask multiple tables whether the food was theirs. I haven't been to the original location in many years, and I wonder if that one has gone downhill as well and whether this is a result of expanding stores. read more

I'm a little late writing this review. On May 1 my sister, niece and I went to breakfast at La Farm Bakery on Six Forks Road In Raleigh. It was mid-morning and not particularly busy. We ordered our breakfasts from the walkup counter: Creme Brûlée French Toast, Deluxe Breakfast Sandwich (Ciabatta Roll) and Le Grand BLT, one coffee. The woman who took our order was sulky and sullen. Counter checkout immediately asks for tip addition. I really dislike this new trend of asking for a tip before food is delivered to your table but we were on vacation, feeling happy and were anticipating a really special breakfast. The menu promised deliciousness even though the staff clearly did not care if we were there or not. I did tip about $8 for the 3 of us for a total bill of $58.83. The Creme Brûlée French Toast was 4 triangles of bread that were tough and hard and had not been made to order. They presumably were re-heated on a griddle but they were not served even warm. Syrup was served in little plastic containers. The Grand BLT was dry chewy bacon and served with three slices of bread. The Deluxe Breakfast Sandwich was warm as the cheese was melted. It was probably the best of the bunch which is not saying much. Two of us left half our meal on our plates. The windowsills were dusty and dirty with dead gnats/small bugs. The table had not been wiped down and was sticky. Overall a great disappointment. It was an expensive breakfast that was prepared with no pride or care for the product served. read more

Food is average, surprisingly, since their rep is so high. Cafe is self-serve. Drinks are inconveniently placed, and the first time experience is diminished because maneuvering is not self-evident. It needs helpful staff with a bit of a welcome in their attitudes, rather than boredom and minimal tolerance for customers. Overall, three stars is generous. read more
