WOW, so authentic and good! My first visit today at Taqueria Los Pinos #2, but it definitely won't be my last. It's a small restaurant located on Irving Blvd between Nursery and Britain in a spot that used to be a good place for pho. I ordered the Chata plate which consisted of two gorditas, two tacos, rice and beans. You have a choice of meat when ordering, so I got one gordita with picadillo rojo and one verde, and one taco with steak meat and the other with pork (pastor-ish). I cannot express how good the picadillo rojo gordita was, and the texture of the bean juice was so creamy. Everything was really excellent! I'd like to add that they served my meal on a Mexican pottery plate and I think that that is such a lovely touch. You order at the counter from their friendly staff and then they bring it to your table. I spoke to Idalia before leaving and she said that it's not on the featured menu, but they also make breakfast. Chilaquiles, juevos rancheros, even pancakes! As soon as I took the first bite, I was disgusted. The salsa tastes like it's from a can and not homemade and the beans had no flavor. Not since I left El Paso and Ciudad Juarez have I had the pleasure of having a "real" bowl of Menudo until today at La Esquina De Pepe 2. Today was our first but not last time to go. I will taste the entire menu in the coming months. The atmosphere is that of being at someone's house in Mexico with all the casual conversation and Mariachi music in the background. Lately I've been looking around and following the 'Birria taco' trend and kept trying places that either had no flavor or ended up serving soggy tortillas. However, I came across a video of their new Birria quesadilla and tacos on Facebook and knew I had to try it. First of all let me start by saying these tacos and the quesadilla were B.O.M.B. I admit that I went for the birria and consommé, but after seeing the menu, I had to order several items. The birria tacos were cheesy, but not overly so. The barbacoa juicy and flavorful. The consommé was rich and with a meaty flavor. I've always found gorditas to be difficult to find, so when I saw them I had to order one with carnitas. Pork was juicy with a few crunchy bits. The lengua taco was also moist, but wasn't the most flavorful I've ever had. Homemade salsas, a habanero (not super spicy) and salsa verde were fresh and delicious. Can't wait for my next trip to the Dallas area. There's never a shortage of good options on Belt Line, but I've found my new favorite. Oh yeah, service was very good. I came across this place from a Twitter post; a video of the barbacoa tacos con queso being prepared and served with the consume. I went that very next day (yesterday) to try them out with a friend and they did not disappoint! I wanted to bring my sister along with me for more today, but I didn't realize they closed at 4pm on Sundays. This restaurant is one of my all time favorites in DFW. Great selection of Mexican dishes. My favorite Menudo and Birria place on the weekends. Both served with homemade tortillas!! My wife Loves the Fried Tacos, they have a tasty and slightly spicy shrimp filling. Just Amazing. She also loves the Cueritos, estilo Jalisco! My son LOVES Mr. Pepe's Chorizon and eggs plate but not as much as the beans. The beans in this place are so good! MY FAVORITE are the Tacos, if I'm not having Menudo or Birria, I'm having Tacos, suadero, bistek, tripa, carnitas... And the list goes on and on! Try CAMPECHANOS, a mix of Suadero and Chorizo. This is a hidden gem in Irving TX. Very excellent food. I tried the Birria Zarandeada (because I saw someone else get it). It's a goat dish on skillet with cilantro onions and peppers and is the best thing I ate all week. The meat melts in your mouth! read more

My sister and I stopped by out of curiosity. To the point, anyone in Irving, please avoid this place. My sister ordered 3 beef tacos, and I had the spicy shrimp with rice. Tortilla was hard, it tasted like it came out of a dilapidated fridge, while my shrimp was served on a plastic plate. You could easily tell the food was microwaved... not only that, but my sister refused to eat her food because the meat tasted out of date and was sticky. The restaurant looks run down on the inside, and children seem to be put at work, as they scuttled around the place cleaning tables. hopefully a health inspector stops by to check for any cross contamination, I highly suspect the staff may be storing leftover food and serving it to customers. read more

Stopped by this place with my mom while taking care of an errand in the area to take some food to go. It did not disappoint! I got three tacos (pastor, suedero, and campechano) which, in my opinion, were reasonably priced/cheap - they stayed warm on the way home and were very flavorful. My family also got chicken enchiladas and a tostada, which also did not disappoint. Although I took food out, my mom and I ordered and waited in the restaurant a bit. It's a definitely a "hole-in-the-wall" place - decorated not not too fancy, and had mostly Spanish speaking customers - which I took as a sign that the food would actually be authentic. Even though my mom and I did not speak Spanish, the staff were still very helpful and answered questions about things on the menu. It also seems to be a family business, which gives me more of a feeling to support them. My friends and I decided we were tired of the fake Mexican food at out school, so we decided to try out the Taco Box from here (comes with 20 tacos and four different kinds so there was good variety, two salsas, vegetables, rice and beans, and chips). I called ahead so that all we had to do was pick it up, and the woman who answered was very kind and professional. When we went to pick it up, it was ready on time (though admittedly we were a bit late haha) and the woman who rang us up was sooo sweet. The tacos themselves were SO GOOD. Tasted very authentic (and I'm Mexican so I can definitely taste the difference) and my friends and I were fighting over the tacos and devoured the rice and beans! They also had some Mexican candy and treats at the register, so I definitely snatched up a Paleta Payaso for only 75 cents! I ordered the menudo, parts of the meat had weird black markings on them and it had enough hairs for me to notice. I know what menudo meat is and how it's made, it honestly looked like they hadn't cleaned the meat very well. The flavor wasn't there either. The only thing that was good is that they had handmade corn tortillas and the horchata tasted good. I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends. The tostada was fantastic, the tacos were alright, and the Gordita was good.
