Great place to have a nice conversation with friends on comfortable couches with wine and tapas. The meatballs were great with some spice and sweetness in the sauce. We were very excited to hear about the Sunday jazz brunch and made a reservation to celebrate two birthdays. Our service steadily got worse the busier they got unfortunately. For a table of 6 it took over 45 minutes to start getting our food, which was brought out a plate at a time and just set in the middle of the table in about 10-15 minute intervals. We had to guess what each plate was as the waiter didn't say what it was, just put each plate in the middle of the table and walked away. As always, I would give the food five stars but the lackluster service this time brought the whole experience down to only three stars. Would highly recommend the crab cake eggs Benedict and also the very tasty bloody Maria. Hopefully management will realize they need more than one or two waiters during brunch especially on Tech home game weekends! read more

It offers a taste of something different in the area to those who are so inclined. They have great tapas, wine by the glass or by the bottle (several from local wineries), and a casual-upscale atmosphere with couches and tables making it easy to sit and talk to other folks. They often offer live music in the evening and though it can be a bit loud, is still enjoyable. The decor is modern and the waitstaff friendly. The dim relaxing lighting adds to the ambiance. This is a must for at least a date night or two and you will enjoy the friendlier crowd. But check their hours by calling, they sometimes don't match what you find online. Had thought every time we came to the Hub we would stop in, glad we topped off a stressful day with an evening here. On a Tuesday evening, few patrons, we received royal treatment, could actually converse here, we provided the historical facts that the building 60 years ago was Tapp Automotive and they provided tapas that exceeded our expectations (superior to tapas in Santa Fe). Chef was delighted that I let him know he had injected the precise amount of red papper in his chocolate dessert. Interior design funky retro and comfy. Olives Ontario for a start, with the baked lump crab casserole, torta Americano, chased by the chocolate truffle cake and no to go boxes were required. It was almost all about the wine, La Herencia, McPherson will not release that wine until March 1st, only 1328 cases produced, none could I take back on the plane with me, reason to carry it back internally. Ambience, memorable, but hear that the Tech students on a spring evening can drink the nice away, grateful we missed that. Eager to return. Most of the reviews give you a pretty well rounded idea of what to expect. If you go during a show it will be loud. The food is what you may come to expect of tapas. It's quite good, but not exceptional. Certainly worth doing if you have the opportunity and an overall delightful experience, but not the pennicle of excellence. read more

The atmosphere here is just as good as their sangria! The layout of the place lets you go into the quieter back room if you don't want to be right next to their live music they often have. Sylvia is so wonderful! She told me I could come by and study at on the couch during the day when it's slow. During finals I studied there, ate soup, drank wine, didn't have trouble finding a spot to sit and enjoyed every second of it. We found my favorite wine there and everything tasted great. The meatballs are awesome and the sauce is to die for. The shishito peppers are really good. The risotto is very delicious and I have to decide whether or not to get it or something new. read more

This is a great place to chill after a long day. No pressure. Great food and our waiter was great; but there was a misunderstanding over our bill. (We were in a group) when we expressed our concern the manager was so condescending and unprofessional. Pretended to be understanding however made unprofessional remarks but with a smile. It was sarcastic and down right belittling. It's unfortunate bc we travel multiple times a year to Lubbock and La Diosa is a place we always visit. We have never faced an issue before. Inside La Diosa is inspired by the artist Frida Khalo. There are portraits of the artist and plenty of Spanish influence. The menu consist of tapas, entrees, and various drinks such as wine, sangrias, margaritas, cocktails, and selected beers. The ambiance is sensual and eclectic. This place is great for gathering with friends and families. Service during lunch time can take longer. So, be prepared for that. read more

Quirky decor. The The four of us ate off of a coffee table! It was flanked by two wing chairs and a sofa which turned out to be an excellent way to share the seven different dishes that we ordered. The homemade sangria was a great, balanced beverage. It was not too sweet nor too tart to accompany the food. We ate many of the same dishes as Linda G. and all were very good. The meatballs were my favorite. Just as we neared the end of our meal, the live music surprised us. Jerry Serrano and his quartet began with a Sinatra number that fit the atmosphere. Went on a Thursday night to celebrate a friends birthday, my friend raved about the tapas here. Being from a city like Miami where there are all types of foods, I'm always skeptical of quality of food/authenticity. When you enter, you are greeted by a nice waitress who will sit you wherever you like. There was live music, so in our bill was a $3 charge. Which I was okay with, I feel it should be up to us to tip the entertainment. We sit down and order 4 tapas and a bottle of La diosa white wine ($24) buttery flavor/dry. I thought it tasted great. The 4 tapas we ordered were Rebecca -Brie + jalapeño jelly. So GOOD! Besitos and Jalapeño, also very very good. Third and fourth tapas ordered were Tortilla Española (My favorite tapa of the night!!!) and Sylvanas Queso. Ended the night with two desserts: coconut cream cake and flourless chocolate cake. The coconut cake was to die for. Just right. The chocolate was dense with flavor, but you could guess it as it was titled sinful chocolate. The music and atmosphere made the experience complete. La Diosa is a Spanish Oasis in Lubbock, TX. The tapas were good but the selections were similar in ingredients. I would recommend this for a pre dinner or after dinner delight. Further, insure you know if there is a cover that will be added to your bill, although the band was great and we did not mind paying for it we were never warned. I also suggest just leaving if they are too busy, service gets pretty poor when busy. read more

They have the best sangria here - id say go with the $17 pitcher because that's the better deal instead of $6/glass. On Fridays/Saturdays, they have live music which is great, but if you plan on going there from 8:30 PM onward, they'll charge you $5 cover per person (all go back to the band). On every weekend night I've gone, after a certain point, they don't allow anyone under 21 to enter - they check IDs, so if you're planning on going with any friends or family under 21, you may need to LAN around that. The atmosphere is great, and the place has a lot of charm. If you go at night and it's dark out, don't expect the lighting to be good for photos, but during the day, the natural lighting is great. Parking can be a little hard to find depending on the day and time you go, but it's downtown, so what else do you expect - I've never had to park further than a block away. The food is GREAT. It's all tapas, and some pizzas, so don't expect a large portion. For me personally, I find it a great place to enjoy a dinner and sangria with my boyfriend and friends. The pizza's are great, and I personally love the escargot, the fruittata (it's a platter of cheeses, nuts, fresh fruits, & meats), and this pistachio pear sorbet with honey they have for dessert (not listed on the menu because they're currently trying it out to see how receptive guests are to it). Granted, La Diosa is on the pricier side, so it's not somewhere I'd go every day, but maybe once a month, but the food and atmosphere are worth the price. The service isn't too fast or persistent as some would hope, but it's also more of a casual, at your own pace sort of deal - & it depends on how busy they are too. Overall, I come here rather frequently! Just remember - if you're going specifically for any item made in the kitchen (minus dessert), they're kitchen closes at 10:30 PM. read more

Great atmosphere! Love the decor, live music, and positive energy from the wait staff and guests. The reason why I have given La Diosa Cellars a 3-star review is due to the lack of professionalism from the Management. On August 23, 2013 me and a friend went in for our weekly "Life Catch Up" conversations. The sangria was good (Even though I would recommend The Funky Door sangria) and the mediterrean pizza was delicious. Towards the end of our visit I showed a groupon I received and expired in 2011. Even though the promotional value had expired (which I paid $10 for $20 dollars worth of food), the amount I paid for the groupon which was $10 NEVER expires (clearly indicated in the fine print) . After going back and forth with the waitstaff in regards to honoring the $10 paid for the groupon I insisted on speaking with the manager myself instead on continuing this back and forth of messages. The Owner/Manager emphasized she was eating dinner as if I was a bother for her and her dinner plans/date. She did not want to honor the $10 I paid for the groupon due losing thousands of dollars in revenue due to Groupon and this particular promotional value. After further deliberation and persistency, she honored my $10 groupon off of my overall bill. I did not think it would have been as difficult with continuous back and forth as it was with this particular situation. I am a valued groupon consumer and have always had positive encounters with all businesses whether using an expired or non expired groupon. This situation really left a bad taste in my mouth with the restuarant and the overall reputation I have heard so much about. Nice place but I think I would rather go to The Funky Door. read more

This little tapas restaurant makes you forget you're in Lubbock, Texas. A cozy scene with couches and pillows or regular table seating to make you feel as welcome as you want. We started with the sangria. Considering it was their signature drink, it was the only thing the entire evening I was unimpressed with. There was not much flavor and it could have been sweeter in my opinion. As an appetizer we ordered the small cheese platter for two. It was delicious. Very fresh fruits, smoked meats, and some generally appreciated cheeses with a little kick. Pretty sure I tasted some horseradish in one of the cheese selections. I would definitely come back for the cheese platter and ditch the sangria for a bottle of good wine. Then the crab cakes...DELICIOUS. There were 5 small crab cakes on the plate. Fresh, rich, and not too fishy all topped off with a creamy fruity smokey sauce that tied the entire plate together. The service was more than exceptional. I was in Lubbock for work but if I am ever back...I'm coming here for sure! Great experience overall. read more

Went to the Yelp Breakfast Club Badge event at La Diosa. It was very pleasant, and not crowded. The jazz was very soothing. Had an amuse bouche of Shishito pepper that was flavorful, not too spicy. The Olga Benedicto was a variation of Eggs Benedict, eggs poached just right, with mild, tasty crabcakes. Nice conversation with Chelsea, Molly, Jacob, and Maria.
