Came in thinking it was a different restaurant only to see the interior is the exact same as tacos way (which is totally fine). Unfortunately the food is different. We were greeted with chips and salsa. All 3 of us were very disappointed in the salsa. Very odd tasting. Not sure if it's coming out of a jar. I opted for the asada plate which was on the bland side. I will admit the beans however were outstanding. Perhaps I ordered the wrong things. I hope this place can turn it around and be successful. First time here and we live nearby. The place was quaint, the service was good, and most items we tried off the menu were very tasty. The positives: The Baja fish taco was big and perfect for my Taco Tuesday desires. My wife loved the enchiladas, and my son thought the birria was on point. We all enjoyed the beans, rice, and salsa as well! The food came out quickly and the drinks were mixed well. The not so positives: The chips that came with the salsa were bland and had a generic big box store taste. Those need an upgrade for sure. Also, there were two dogs inside the restaurant and they were not service dogs. For sanitation's sake, I just feel they should be outside with their owner and there is space available to accommodate them. Overall, we will definitely be back! I ordered the lychee mojito and it was so sweet and refreshing! I got the ceviche with shrimp and I couldn't stop eating. The salsa that came out with the chips was watered down. Little flavor. I ordered the tacos and was surprised it was $13 for two MINI tacos. I thought they would at least be full size for that price. We have found our new Placentia hangout spot! The 2pm-5pm Happy Hour is the best deal in town. We ordered loaded nachos and shrimp tacos off the appetizer menu. Expected to get half size since the appetizers were discounted, but nope. Full size on both and had to take some home. We were given extra chips and salsa to take home with our leftovers. We have tried to support the restaurants that have made this place home over a number of years. We tried La Cova yesterday thinking it was a rebranding of the prior tenant, Tocosway. It is not !We were very pleased with the menu and ambience . We tried and would recommend the ceviche, queso fundito and the enchiladas. Especially the enchiladas ! We did carnitas with green sauce. me and my partner have been coming here since it was tacos way and we loveee coming on taco tuesday for $3 tacos. today was our first day coming in since its changed to "la cova". food was amazing as always although we were a little disappointed with our server not letting us know about the "handmade tortilla" upcharge and it caught us by surprise when we received our bill. i'm a server and i wouldve absolutely let my guest know about the upcharge if they were interested in the "upcharge option" which our server didn't let us know about. maybe we should've asked or assumed it would've been more but i wouldve totally let my guest know if they wanted that option. just felt a little blindsided and would hate for this to happen to another party !! def mention the difference in price when asking if your guest is interested in a "premium" option. read more
