When we arrived, the restaurant was hopping and busy. Fortunately, we were able to be seated immediately. Tanya, our server for the evening, interdicted herself to us. She asked a critical question, "were we headed to the Bass Hall this evening?" We told her yes and she said she'd let the kitchen expeditor know So our orders would get to our table as fast as possible. I the Luann platter, which had a a cheese enchilada, a cheese taco, crispy taco, guacamole chalupa,, plus rice and refried beans. That's a lot of food. My wife, who wasn't too hungry, was going to eat the crispy beef taco and half of the guacamole chalupa. I ordered a Mambo TaxI to drink. I love their little frozen margarita. We all sat and ate WAY too many chips dipped in Mi Cocina's awesome hot sauce while also having wonderful conversations. Tanya showed up shortly with our table's entrees. Without wasting time, we dug into our our individual entrees. My platter was really good and served piping hot. We asked Tanya to bring our check so we could head over to the Bass Hall for our evening's performance. Thank you Mi Cocina for a wonderful visit and thank you for getting our entrees our quickly.

I definitely had higher hopes for this place based on everyone's reviews…read more The chips and salsa were nothing special. It was decent but does not stand out from most Mexican restaurants. My entree was the poblano chicken enchiladas. If I had one word to describe it, it would be DRY. The rice was dry and felt like I was eating yesterday's rice. The beans felt the same, super dry. The chicken wrapped in the tortilla was very very dry. Barely any flavor or moist tenderness. The sour cream creama they put on top was a bit much in my opinion, especially if you know the ingredients of the actual food is good. Overall, I would come back again, but I was definitely expecting a little more. I will say the prices are very reasonable. I sat at the bar and the female server was excellent. It was a decent atmosphere and they do have bar.

It wasn't overly crowded or loud, which made a huge difference. My husband and I could actually sit and have a conversation without having to yell over music...which was such a relief. The seating was comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the waitress was polite and attentive throughout our visit. Drinks were great--I ordered an espresso martini (well...more than one ), and they were all consistently good. Prices seemed pretty comparable to other places in the area, so no complaints there either. Overall, it was a much better experience and somewhere I'd definitely go back to for a date night. If you're looking for a spot where you can actually talk and enjoy your time without blaring music, this is a solid choice.

The appetizers ordered with our group were delicious from the homemade tortillas to guacamole etc. My scallops were tasty but the presentation was underwhelming. We had a large group but service kept up mostly. My husband's octopus was delicious. The sea bass portion was nice and well made. The flan is more cakey than smooth depending on what you prefer. The ice cream cake was the best and satisfying on such a hot night!

To start the meal, they brought out an amuse-bouche that I can't remember the name of. It was a silky smooth creamy squash soup. I could have eaten a bowl of that and been satisfied! Soooo good! DRINKS: Zacatecas - Banhez Mezcal Joven, Guava Puree, Lime Juice, Chipotle Tamarind Syrup Not something I would typically order but it was smokey & complex. Carajillo43 - Licor 43, fresh espresso Perfect drink to end a great meal! APPETIZERS: Cazuela de Chorizo Housemade chorizo, bruleé panela cheese, oregano pickled onion, served with handmade heirloom blue corn tortillas. To make tacos. Best chorizo I have ever tasted! Made me change my mind about not liking chorizo. Guacamole So fresh and good! Served with heirloom house made blue corn tortillas. Nancy recommended we make tacos with chorizo & guac on them. They were good! Different from your typical tex mex served with chips. (This is not a Tex Mex place). They serve a red and green salsa. Both good. Red was mild in spice level and green was hot. MAIN: Codorniz en Mole Poblano Texas quail stuffed with a creamy pecan almond rice, house made mole poblano, oven roasted potatoes, queso fresco, toasted pumpkin seeds. DESSERT: (got two to split between 6 people. Just wanted a taste). Tres Leches del Desierto - my fav of the two! Deconstructed tres leches with ammonite-shaped ice cream and berries. Encuentro de Chocolate - very rich Chocolate sphere cake filled with chocolate mousse, finished with a chocolate glaze, served with beet-ancho chile foam We are all stuffed, happy, & look forward to going back! Love all the plants on their patio. Looks like a relaxing place to enjoy a perfect meal when nice out!

First time here and it was such a positive experience. I was a little confused about dressed code…read morebut it really is a mix. We were over dressed but there were some really casually dressed people so I'd say just come hungry or sort of hungry. I had seen all the buzz about the fried cactus and as someone who has grown up eating all my life I was intrigued on how this would be any different. Boy was I wrong. In fact, I would be happy enough just coming and eating only this. I have some sort of food limerence where I cannot stop thinking about this. Like daily! I want it so bad. No it was a whole experience because waiter placed this bowl towering with a mountain of curly crunchy ribbons. He kindly gave us his advice on the best way to eat it. You take their fresh made blue corn tortilla, pile on the cactus, don't be shy, if it fits in your mouth just go for it, then that green sauce was heavenly. All the flavors combined made me levitate. That would've been embarrassing. You could easy fill up on this alone given enough time and privacy. I just wanted a moment alone to enjoy fully ha ha. I then ordered the Chile en Nogada and the picture alone was enough for me to go yes we're on our way immediately. However listen I am a self proclaimed gift wrapping queen. I know a good ribbon and a good bow. I know that the typical dish has a bow - yes a fabric bow but this bow was not up to the standard of this restaurant, unfinished edges, and the color satin gold was not really representative of the environment. Good thing the bow is not edible but visually it could use a little improvement. The dish itself was 4 out of 5 for me only because I have had this dish before at a more casual space and every component of the dish was full flavored, where this one feels a bit safe. For dessert I was a little unimpressed with the options. I am not a fan of tres leches so I did not order their most famous desert but instead opted for another one that was a pastry with ice cream on top. I also give it 4 out of 5 its needing more flavor and sweetness, I mean this is dessert. The five stars is more for the service. Our server was amazing. He described every dish we ordered as if we were watching a Netflix documentary of a chef competition and they just submitted their dish. The table next to us got an amuse bouche compliments of the chef and I didn't want to be too nosy and peek over so I have no idea what it was. I was really hoping we'd get one too because honestly I was still hungry after all that. Oh cocktails. We ordered a drink before our table was available and I was not playing. I remember ordering a glass of bubbly rose and when our server brought it he served me a sip and had me try it before I decided, but honestly I wanted to tell him that I couldn't feel my face just pour it.

The service was still good, but our requested modification to the queso was forgotten the first time they brought it out, and the marg was good, but not my favorite flavor! I know these are always a more moist taco, but the last time I had them here they had great crisp, and this time they were soggy with grease to the point where I had to eat them with a fork and knife. The little details like serving the frozen margs with a koozie weren't present, though the ambiance was nice as always. I still had a really nice dinner with a friend, but this experience wasn't quite as superb as my first one.

It's in the Nobleman and my friend was weary about hotel restaurants, but he thought this place was outstanding. We kind of got lost because the Duchess sign was under a door that led to the first floor rooms of the hotel so we just roamed around and headed towards the lobby area and we found it. First of all, let me say, the hotel smells divine! So that's really what captured my attention when I first walked in. The Duchess wasn't very busy, so we were able to get seated immediately, but I also made a reservation through Open Table earlier. The Duchess has very sleek decor. It was simple and elegant. Our party of four pretty much ordered the whole front side of the menu except for a few items. We ordered all 3 salads, 2 pastas, and 3 appetizers. We jokingly (not jokingly) said next time we'll order the whole back part of the menu. I couldn't really pinpoint my favorite because they were all good in their own right. So I guess I'll name my favorite by category: Appetizer: although I really liked the eggplant, I think I loved the flatbread with the green goddess dressing and the bright lemon flavor. Salad: Caesar, but the watermelon was a close second. Pasta: both were very very good, but I think the tagliatelle was the one for me. Overall, amazing and unexpectedly good! Alex, our server, was awesome with the recommendations and didn't laugh at us when we wanted to order the whole front side of the menu God bless him!

Never been and didn't have any expectations. They brought us chips and salsa, we shared a birriadilla and she ordered a small salad, I got a side of charro beans. These charro beans are a must have with bits of sausage and beef (maybe)? Could be pork. Either way they were really yum. Service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere is kind of mid-century modern meets southwest- understated and kind of cool. Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised. We will be returning patrons when in Benbrook. Definitely recommend.
