L&R Plumbing was recommended to us by another plumbing company in town, and boy are we glad. What tremendous service! Lloyd is the owner, and he's friendly in a truly Texas way. We had a broken sewer line that was causing all sorts of problems, and when we called in a panic on Friday afternoon Lloyd was there within an hour. He fixed the problem temporarily (so we could use our toilets) and come back within a couple days to diagnose the problem and give us an estimate. Suffice to say the problem was massive, but Lloyd offered us a very reasonable price. My water heater decided that on the way out it wanted to send a message, and it figured that the best way to do it was to flood all over our master bedroom closet. No, that's not where we keep the giant tank, it's just where the water went because the guy who installed it thought it better to save ten bucks and NOT put a drain pan underneath to dispose of errant leaking water. In a panic (and at 10pm), I called around the highest-rated plumbers on Yelp, and Lloyd was the first to say he could be here the next day. He laid out exactly what he would do, how he would do it, and how much it would cost. I have often thought that I would like for one of my sons to become a master plumber -- now I know that I'd like for him to be as effective as Lloyd. Great work, reasonable prices, and a very pleasant person to deal with. Oh, and he put in a drain pan. These guys were great! My aunt's water heater rusted out and we needed a replacement installed ASAP. They came over the same day, replaced the wet wood, installed the new water heater, raised the vent line and replaced all the valves and flex hoses. The work was well done and they even swept the area before leaving. Hot water was restored and we couldn't have been happier. The owner is a stitch - really funny guy, very personable. I called L&R Plumbing and spoke to the owner, Lloyd, right away. I had a leak under a sink and he came out the next day and fixed it. He was very responsive and friendly. He made a good impression on me. So, I asked him to change out the disposal under the kitchen sink. We set up a time the following week and he was very prompt and worked quickly. He charged me for both services together after he finished installing the disposal. I took off one star because his business methods are a little unorganized. The first time I used L&R Plumbing was 5-6 months prior when another plumber could not finish the job and referred L&R. Lloyd sent another plumber to fix a tub overflow issue. When I talked to Lloyd this time around he did not really remember the guy. This made me a little nervous. Also, Lloyd did not give me an invoice right away for the job. He said he would mail it to me. Overall, Lloyd is a genuinely friendly man. He charges reasonable prices. He is responsive and does the work quickly. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that no one likes dealing with or paying for plumbing issues. Plumbers can get very expensive. I'm currently starting a new job, just moved into my first house, and am low on money. When I had a clogged toilet that no one was able to successfully unclog, I called Larry. He was very responsive, and gave me the lowest estimate I was able to find. On Monday I called one of the plumbers with a 5 star review but he was busy that week and referred me to Lloyd. I called Lloyd and set up a first client in the morning appointment at 8am on Tuesday. At 8 Lloyd called to tell me he'd been in a fender bender and was running a little late & was still in North Austin (I live South) but he should be a my place in 30 or 45 minutes. I called him back at nine, no answer so I left a message. I called back at 9:20, still no answer. I called at 9:30, and Lloyd was just getting in the truck to head to South Austin. Sorry, dude. I canceled the appointment. I don't know whether he's a good plumber or not, but I wasn't going to waste a day finding out. read more

RUN, dont walk away from this snake in the grass. this guys quoted a price, pulled the permit and then tried to double his price upon commencement. When i told him no, that i would find someone else to do the job, he threatened to NOT remove himself from our permit until we payed him off. Not to mention, he delayed the job for over a month. Excellent service. I needed a plumber fast to fix a clog in my kitchen sink. Lloyd shown up the same day and was able to de-clog it, running a snake well past the bottom unit's pipes. Now the drain has no problems. Will defiantly call them again if I have another issue. read more

Lloyd was extremely helpful. The water heater in our rent house started leaking. Our tenants have two small children and couldn't be without hot water for to long. I called Lloyd late in the day. I had a completely severed sewer pipe and broken water main. I called a few plumbers, one of which stood me up twice and when he finally came out he told me I had a 2 to 3 day job and shouldn't plan on having water until the weekend.... Then I called Lloyd at L&R Plumbing. He came out, spent about 20 minutes assessing the situation, and he shot me straight on pricing and expectations. I hired him and he showed up promptly the next morning to start the project. He found the cause of both issues within the first 2 hours and completed the repairs in under 6 hours. I have no complaints on the service(although promised service between 9-11am ended up being 5pm) the job was well done. The part that I have a complaint is price. He doesn't give you an invoice, and I learned you can't trust his "estimate". Long story short this ended up costing more than originally verbally quoted, for no good reason...i would have understood if the job had required extra work etc but it was a routine job. Don't trust Lloyd estimates is my advice, get it in writing or better yet find an honest plumber instead. read more

I did not have a good experience with Loyd and he could have cared less. I called him for a leak in my front yard near the meter. He shows up and tells me I had received bad advice that I needed to call my irrigation guy not him. Oh he of course makes you feel stupid. He added that I already owed him $200- 50 trip charge and 150 for the first hour. He almost seemed happy about it- I've got you lady! At this point our water is out and we have wasted half the day and are worried about the leak. I responded well considering I have paid for the first hour can't you make use of the first hour to give us more information actually dig in the area and be sure it really is irrigation not the main line. Big mistake on my part. I should have just sent him away. Why I had to ask that and why he was not helpful was a bug. (My usual plumber asks me what is on my list- let's make use of this time and make it economical for both of us. I sure wish I used my regular guy- Union Jack Plumbing.) He digs things up and confirms it is irrigation and says he can fix it and gives me a quote of 150 more. I figure I need this done and the next irrigation guy is going to cost me that. Anyway he then can't fix it as he doesn't have the parts as they are irrigation grade not plumber grade but he will separate it from my main line so the water can stay on and we just turn off irrigation. He also seems to be implying I already owe him the 350 even though he didn't repair. I agree to total 400 and it is still broken so I can have water. I then call my irrigation guy. They quickly fix whole thing for 150 and say my plumber when digging hit another pipe that then needed to be repaired so I owed 90 for that. Anyway I did not like the manner or the pricing of Loyd at all and wish I had never called him. I called him to tell him I was disappointed and he made no effort make things right. He could care less that he also damaged my irrigation. (That costed me an additional 89). Again if I had just called irrigation I would have paid just 150 and been done. Oh by the way my irrigation guy- American Irrigation Repair took some responsibility for encouraging me to call a plumber first and gave me a free 93 tune up. Again they were there and that was a way they could help the situation that didn't cost them much. I will call them again. read more
