So, I wish I was handy but I'm just not.. I've had to accept that any sort of plumbing or handyman type work is completely out of my field. I can build ya a gaming P.C... I can cook you just about anything on a best ever level. I can't fix a broken faucet. I don't know what the deal is or why its the kind of skill I'm completely inept at but it is. We had a series of plumbing issues and attempted to get them repaired through our home warranty and I swear the guy they sent out looked like he had been awake for a week and explained he could do the warranty work but I'd need to also pay him for all sorts of out of warranty work. Not wanting to be taken advantage of I promptly sent him away. My wife and I asked around with some of our co-workers and Confidence Plumbing came up. Eddie came out and I honestly must say that I have never had a better experience with any sort of contractor or repairman. Eddie walked me through the work he was doing, explained what was going on and helped me understand everything. It wasn't just that Eddie offered a fair price.. it was that he educated me on my problem, showed me ways to prevent it and really made me feel confident in the work he did. I walked away from the situation with my problems fixed and educated on how to deal with these sort of things much better in the future. Fast Forward a year later we had a few other unrelated problems and my wife called Eddie, she handled the interaction with him this time out, again and we got the same excellent service and fair price. I don't know if you can maybe find a cheaper plumber.. but you wont get a more respectful, honest and intelligent plumber who's willing to take the time to help you understand the work he's doing. We called them, through our home warranty company, to locate a hole or break in our pipes. We were having an issue with mice in the walls/attic. The pest company did full evaluation and a smoke test and determined they were likely getting in through a break in the pipes, then into the walls. The plumbers showed up and opened a section of the dry wall, looked at the pipes (that were visible), checked the water flow through faucets and reported there was no sign of a leak anywhere. Based on that they determined a camera inspection of the pipes wasn't necessary (so it would have to be out of pocket for us to pursue vs. being covered by the warranty). They were condescending and evasive when I asked why a camera inspection wasn't indicated just because they weren't able to SEE a leak somewhere. And they did not even put back the piece of dry wall they removed. I didn't think they actually tried to evaluate the issue so we paid for another company to run a camera inspection. They immediately found a large hole in one of the pipes that ran under the foundation. read more

I had water leak from the ceiling due to the great freeze last month. I called so many plumbers and Confidence was one of only a couple that could give me an appointment within 4 days. Orlando and his assistant Armando did a great job. They took care to try to figure out what caused the water damage and were careful not to make any unnecessary cuts in the ceiling. In addition, they discovered another leak and carefully found the source and gave me all of the options to fix it. They were very patient and thorough, and explained everything to me. this company was assigned to us by our Home Warranty provider. They never called to set up an appointment. This was right after the Austin weather catastrophe with broken pipes etc. so I tried to give them a bit of grace. After 4 days, I emailed them and this was their response: "Thank you for reaching out. Yes, we are extremely busy. We are currently prioritizing all emergency repairs due to the winter storm. I will have someone reach out to you as soon as possible" A week later, still nothing. They ignored my follow up email. Finally, I called my Home Warranty provider, and after an hour of being put on hold, being transferred, getting callbacks etc., they assigned me to another plumbing company. The other plumbing company called me within 30 minutes, sent someone over the next day, and fixed my issue within an hour. If Confidence Plumbing is reading this review, I would respectfully suggest you at least call your customers who are assigned via Home Warranty. Or, tell the Home Warranty company you can't deal with extra customers at the time. You guys really inconvenienced me by having to go 13 days without hot water. read more

My insurance AHS sent this company to repair a stoppage. The first thing they asked me was the year the house was built, 1970. They came inside the house, check the toilets for less than 2 minutes and went outside to "find" the clean out...they said that my house was too old and did not have a clean out. They told me that my insurance would not cover to repair stoppage unless I had a clean out. I waited for 3 days for them to come to talk to me for 5 min and just leave. I can do most of my repairs and he didn't mind going through everything and letting me know over the phone what needed to be done without making me feel he had to fix it now. But, I would of had him fix the extra work but felt like it was over priced for the extra work. Now I'll go fix it myself but did appreciate the suggestions and letting me know what does need to be done to prevent another problem. Price good for a emergency type of situation. He did come out the same day. Operator that answered the phone was great and found out all the info for me that I needed to get and appointment same day and called me right back with a time line after talking to the plumber to make sure he could make it out same day. Problem: broken water heater. Solution: I called Confidence Plumbing. Result: I had a bad experience with them and would not recommend them. Too many delays, not showing up on time, waiting all day for a call, and empty promises. The "master" plumber incorrectly installed the thermocouple, said it was a bigger issue, and had me order the unitrol valve from Whirlpool ($120). He also offered to install a better model water heater for $800. I called DAS Plumbing (Dave rules) and he took out the thermocouple, said it was not installed correctly. He re-installed it, and...knock on wood...we haven't had any issues since. Don't waste time with these overpriced folks. read more

After investigating the low water pressure in one of my bathrooms for all of 15 minutes he told me that he would have to cut in to my wall to find a clogged pipe to repair, $1200. I said that at that price I would need to get some other quotes. He then told me that he was a "master plumber" and this was definitely the issue... I had a new plumber come in the next day. He spent close to an hour investigating the issue before determining that my water pressure was fine but my faucets had gone bad. They don't care and very bad communication. I waited a week to have them come to my house. They came saw the issue with my water heater and told me what was needed. I have American Home Shield warranty and while AHS might not be the best to deal with, this plumber IS one of their contractors. Confidence Plumbing then turns down the job because AHS wasn't paying enough for the repair. However, that is NOT what they told AHS. They told AHS they couldn't fix the water heater and didn't know why is wasn't working. Confidence Plumbing never called me back to explain the pay problems and that they were passing on the job.... They left me hanging. So I had to wait again for another plumber through AHS to come to the house and go through it all over again. All Confidence had to do was at least call me and be upfront about the situation. They were not. They are fully aware of the agreement they entered into with AHS and didn't care at all about me being in the middle of them. After waiting for them to come to the house, they didn't care one bit about how long I waited or that my issue was still happening. THEY NEVER EVEN CALLED TO TELL ME THEY WERE PASSING ON THE JOB. I found out from AHS, and after three calls to Confidence. Still haven't heard from the manager there. read more

Our water heater went out a few days ago. We got five estimates because we couldn't believe how much higher the estimates were from contractors compared to Home Depot and Lowes. Home Depot and Lowes both admitted that it's their basic estimate, and they won't give a real estimate until they come out, but instead of coming out and quoting you for free, they charge you a $60 "service fee." I thought to check Yelp and saw Grayson had used Confidence Plumbing, so I gave them a try. Our last appointment was Confidence Plumbing. Confidence Plumbing is a contractor with "Service Magic," who I plan on calling again for any household repairs. They screen all their contractors, and put me in touch with Confidence Plumbing. I spoke with Wallene, who was really pleasant. She understood we needed it fixed and quick. She sent Paul out first thing in the morning- he was the only plumber who arrived right on time. Paul's been a master plumber for 19 years. He looked over our other written estimates, and adjusted his rate so he could provide the best deal for us. He and his assistant moved our washer and dryer, and the motorcycle in the garage, to get them out of the way. He installed a drip pan to get up to code, and drilled a new hole so the drip pan can drain. He replaced the water heater and put everything back in its place. He did a great job, and was really good about explaining it in plain English so I understood everything he was doing. He's really friendly and professional. read more

Paul and Eddie did a superior job replacing the pressure reduction valve on our side of the meter and it was not a easy task. They had to dig quite a bit to get to it and then had to replace leaking pipe and the worn out valve as well as tie it all back into the sprinkler line. Eddie and Paul called first and arrived just when the said. They came to my East Austin home to rescue my sewer lateral job from a "trencher" who really upset me with his attitude and his take on what needed to be done, which was totally wrong. This is the second sewer lateral I have replaced and by far the most complex. As we needed to wait for a stump grinder to remove a stump in the way and a guy Paul called to remove about a total of 5' x 1' of my 6" thick concrete driveway around a very big tree, so we could reroute the sewer lateral away from the enormous roots that crushed it, I asked the guys if they could install a new kitchen faucet. No one else could remove the old one and Eddie popped the old one right off. They were the 3rd plumbers to work on my second new water heaters (the1st was truly a lemon). I knew what was supposed to be done, they did not sell me on anything and I needed lots fixed from a very messy install. (the previous plumber crushed the side of the pan and routed the overflow outside of the pan and many other problems.) Now my water heater is installed correctly. The sewer lateral was a challenge around trees. It also took lots of investigating to figure out how the previous owners decades ago routed the pipes to the lateral. Normally all the wastewater pipes join at one location. Mine joined the sewer lateral in 3 places yards apart from each other. Eddie and Paul worked long hours over many days to set up a new system and added two new cleanouts. They did a stellar job. I highly recommend Confidence Plumbing. read more

I called Confidence Plumbing to replace a broken sewer line in my yard in December 2007. I also called 2 other places. Confidence came in with the lowest bid at $3000, so we went with them. Whoops. What I later discovered is that the owner of the company didn't even get out of the car for his estimate; he just looked at our front yard and committed to a lower price than our other two bids. This matters because in the middle of the job, he discovered that the distance to lay pipe was 10 feet more than planned. He also discovered that our soil was clay, and there were lots of roots to cut through. All of those things would have been obvious to someone who had, you know, gotten out of his car. After having torn up our yard, he came back and asked for another $400. What choice did I have then? We had no working sewer line and a trench in the middle of the yard. Then, he came back even later for another $300, for a total of $3700 on an initial "estimate" of $3000. That I balked at. Enough was enough. He had given me a worthless estimate, tore up my front lawn for over 2 days, and then extorted money out of me to make up for his own laziness. I gave him $3400, which is $400 more than it should have been, and that was it. Supposedly this man is a pastor at a church. Maybe they can replace your dishwasher without mishap, but I can replace my own dishwasher. They got the job done eventually, but what does that matter if he lied his way into the job? It bears repeating; when he did his estimate, he did not even get out of his car! And then when it turned out he had made a mistake, I had to pay for it. In case you haven't figured it out by now, I would not hire them again, and would definitely recommend you avoid them. Pros: estimates are very quick Cons: they get thrown out the window once you commit. Confidence Plumbing? More like confidence man. read more

I am so glad my wife and I connected with Paul at Confidence plumbing. For the quick review I give 5 stars for quality, communication, and integrity. As for the details, this review is based on a pretty major job -- our service line from the house to the sewer line at the street needed to be replaced. I had an idea this might be the case, as the issues we were experiencing pointed to a major problem with the line. At the time when water was backing up into the house, my wife was the only one at home. When she called Confidence, the person answering the phone was able to help her avert a major problem by asking her to check other bathrooms, which she had not already done. She was able to get somebody out (Paul) that day to analyze the problem and give us an estimate. I honestly had sticker shock at the estimate, but after a series of searches and some calls, I found the price very reasonable for such a major job. He could have even charged more, as it was an emergency for us and Paul was willing to get a crew started right away. Usually there might be a fee with that type of response with some of the other companies. Also worth noting is that even though the angle of the line to the street was at an agle, increasing the length of the dig and materials needed, Paul stood by his original estimate and completed the job on time and without an increase in our price. Communication was first rate throughout the process as well, and he let me know what would happen every step of the way and even showed me how badly my line was collapsed and damaged in many different places. The new line also has a very cool added feature near the house that will make any future access much easier, as well as an additional access point at the street. Great quality work by an honest and fair person -- we're big fans. (never thought I'd say that about a plumbing company -- but i was never in such a stinky jam before) NEW EXPERIENCE THREE YEARS LATER 7/2012: This is a follow up to the glowing review that I wrote in feb. 2009. The job they did, repairing the sewer line, required a permit and a final inspection to close out the permit. They failed to schedule a final inspection, so when a different contractor went to the city to open up a new permit for different work, they could not because of the expired one from Confidence Plumbing. I thought it would be easy to get Paul to finish the job, but after two weeks, many conversations but no action from Nina at their office we had to hire someone else. Hopefully my yard will not need to be retrenched to hold a final inspection. read more

When our water heater broke and leaked in our living room we called Confidence Plumbing which was recommended at yelp. Basically they took advantage of the situation and gouged us on pricing. A 40 gal water heater replacement typically costs $900 and they charged us $1,500. I suppose I should have shopped around ahead of time, but I was anxious to get it fixed. Further, they replaced it without recommending that we repair the wet wood underneath which made it more difficult for Quick Dry to dry the area later. The worst of it all is that I have called them several times to complain about the service and they have ignored my complaints. Avoid them. read more

He showed up on time and was super friendly. He explained what the issue was after a few minutes of looking at the faucet. Turns out someone had stripped the threads on the faucet and it had caused it to leak. They replaced the faucet and tightened everything else under the sink all for under $150 (faucet included). I ran across them elsewhere online and filled out a form with no expectation of a prompt response. I got a call a half hour later asking if I was available for them to stop in, see what I needed, and put in a bid. I ended up accepting their bid and Paul was able to come back the next day (today) and do the full install for a competitive price. He was friendly and thorough, making sure I understood what they needed to do to make up for the previous water heater's poor installation, as well as detailing how the new model worked, and all they had done to bring it up to code - allowing me to check the workmanship, which I was very satisfied with.
