I don't think I'll ever go back here, although I've been a regular for quite a while. Why? Because a roach crawled out the vent above my head and fell on the table... Then I noticed how many roach and pest traps they have all over and realized it's a bigger problem then I first thought. The main problem was when I told the staff, they simply said "sorry, it happens" and proceed to hover over me when I signed the check worried I wouldn't tip... They've got beauuutiful booths on both sides of the street ( lucky for them not much other restaurants to compete with for space out there ). The broth alone was so creamy and had a slightly smoky, roasted taste to it; the noodles had a springy, chewy bounce; and lastly, the PORK--omgosh the pork! This may have been my third visit and it seems everything has gone downhill. The ramen is ok, pretty standard - nothing that you'd want to wait hours for. Everyone at my table gets their ramen first. Ok fine. Then a few other tables around me, who ordered after us, also get their ramen first. I'm starting to feel hangry. I was already hungry, so now I'm annoyed and wondered where my food is. Finally, our waitress brings the omurice and we do the whole show where she slices it open and pours on the demi-glace sauce. I'm excited! Then I take my first bite and boy was I not excited anymore. The egg was ok but could have been lighter and fluffier. The sauce had no discerning taste. It wasn't bad per se, but it definitely was not good. The fried rice was hard and cold. The tonkotsu may have been good because it was nicely fried but it too was also COLD. Now my guess is that they may have made the tonkotsu and the fried rice and either forgot or ran outta eggs because only the egg portion of my entire meal was hot. The omurice and tonkatsu also mainly got their flavor from the curry sauce which wasn't good but the tonkatsu was nice and crispy. Came here last Wednesday with a group of 4 with no reservation and waited around 25 minutes for a table. They used Yelp's waitlist though so we were able to just get bubble tea nearby and bring it back (they don't care if you drink it at your table). I LOVE what they've done with their outdoor seating. They have a wooden house setup so that each table is separated but there is still an opening for air to circulate at your table. It was also raining but that didn't cause any issues while we were eating. The food itself was fine and what I expected for ramen. They also had Sapporo for $4 (I think) which is pretty cheap for a restaurant I think. Make sure you check-in on Yelp so you can get either a free matcha pudding or thai iced tea! The only thing I didn't like about this place was the service. Our waitress looked somewhat young and inexperienced, and it seemed like she wasn't familiar with it because she had to look at our menu whenever we ordered something. We were also asked what if we wanted iced water and hot tea when we sat down.......which we never received until we asked again at the end of the meal. Going along those lines, they never checked on us throughout the meal and the button on the table that's supposed to call waiters to our table wasn't working. Every time I visit flushing, I see that KYURAMEN is always packed after it went viral on TikTok. I can definitely see why! There is plenty of seating outdoors and their Japanese style booths are very unique. The pricing for their dishes is really great - can't find this in Manhattan! I visited on Thanksgiving day and got seated immediately. There was no long wait like there usually is. For appetizers, I got the Takoyaki, Ika Geso Kara-Age (Fried Squid Tentacles), Okonomiyaki, and Gyoza. Out of these appetizers, I would recommend the Takoyaki and Fried Squid Tentacles. Most places skimp out on the filling of takoyaki (maybe they'll add 1 piece of octopus that's 2 cm tall) but KYURAMEN doesn't play with the filling - there are numerous pieces in each takoyaki ball. The Fried Squid Tentacles had a flavorful seasoning. Just thinking about it makes me crave it. I enjoy Okonomiyaki when the pancake is thin - this place has it kind of thick, which is quite filling. The Gyoza was pretty good. As for the ramen, I got the #1 Tokyo Tonkatsu Shoyu Ramen with black garlic. I enjoyed the broth the most because it was flavorful and aromatic. I wish there was more soup and a little less of seaweed and corn. I'm not too much of a fan of the wakame. The slices of pork were thin and soft. I came here with my sister at around 2:00PM, when we went inside the establishment - a staff gave us the choice to either sit inside (10-15 mins wait) or sit outside (no wait). We wanted to sit inside, so we waited. When our table was ready, we were seated into a private booth with a curtain. We ordered Sapporo Miso Ramen (Spicy), Tonkatsu Omurice Combo (w/ Thai Iced Tea) & Popcorn Chicken. After we ordered our food, we saw something moving on our table & it was a small cockroach. I think it crawled up from the table leg & when we panicked, it flew & went into the hamper (there was a wooden hamper in the corner of the booth where one can put their belongings in). After seeing that, my sister & I sanitized the whole table (w/ our disinfectant wipes). I don't think I really have to say this because it's common sense, but if there's 1 cockroach, there will always be more. I think Kyuramen should close this location to check if there's an infestation. Anyways, when the food came, the omurice was pretty good. It's not like a Japanese omurice, the authenticity really isn't there, would say it's more like an Asian Fusion omurice. The ramen & the popcorn chicken was really salty. We decided to stop by this place for lunch. We checked online first to see what Covid precautions they were taking. They offered outdoor heated seating as well as limited indoor dining in individual booths spaced apart. They provided sanitizing stations, and all the staff wear masks. The outdoor booth are the best constructed outdoor dining facility I've seen. It is suggested to make a reservation because there are a limited number of seating available outside. After seating, we were surprised to get the free Thai ice tea after checking into Yelp. After looking at their options we decided to order the classic Japanese omurice combo which came with the choice of demi glaze or curry sauce as well as seafood miso ramen soup. We decided to go with the demi glaze. We also choose the ramen combo B which includes: Kyushu Tonkotsu Shio ramen, miso ramen, Taiwanese style popcorn chicken, match pudding with red bean, and Japanese Cherry blossom jelly which was lychee flavored jelly. Roasted green tea is complimentary. Shortly after ordering, our food came very quick and the food was fresh and hot. The popcorn chicken was AMAZING. The chicken was very juicy and good, and the exterior was very nice and crispy full of flavor, the fried basil with the chicken added a nice fresh taste. The seafood miso soup that came with the omurice came with a prawn and a little clam. The omurice was an experience they cut the egg open and pour the sauce right infront of you, before your very eyes! The egg was silky smooth, and the savory rice went so well with the sauce and the egg. Inside, the rice was soft with onions, peas, corn, pork, and shitake mushrooms. The ramen came with a seaweed sheet, half a marinated egg, corn, bamboo and pork chashu slices. The ramen was good, the noodles were nice and bouncy and were not overcooked, and the broth was flavorful. Each table has cayenne pepper, Japanese 7 spice powder, sauerkraut pepper so you can modify the spice flavor of your food to your preference. After finishing your food there's a button you press on your table when you're ready to pay so you are not bothered while you are eating.
