It's convenient, the cars are okay and the service is pretty good but I probably won't use it too often with the economy car and minimum coverage adding up to $150 for 24hrs. If it were 20-30% lower, I'd use this service constantly - I don't own a car. read more

Friendly drivers dropped off and picked up the rental, with head up texts, and coming through with a clean car made my experience with Kyte a delight. Update: Kyte charged my credit card the $300 deposit. At the time, this made sense. The rental was damaged by a hit and run. During the entire process with Kyte's third party vendor handling the repairs, I remained responsive, provided documentation that a claim had been filed. Followed up with the vendor that the claim had been paid in full. Provided pages and pages of this documentation to Kyte via e-mail and text. Kyte customer service and their so-called claims department in was useless. Could not reach a real human. Texted Kyte only to be put a technology loop that became a nightmare. Asked about my deposit, told to contact claims department. A ticket was assigned, crickets and no communication, only then to receive a text the ticket was closed. This loop went on and on for months. With an occasional (rub salt in the wound) text asking if there is anything else they can do? Not wanting to give up, I had only three options: File a formal complaint with Federal Consumer Protection; file a formal complaint with Small Claims Court; write and send, via snail mail, a formal complaint to Kyte headquarters. I chose Federal Consumer Protection Agency. One month after I filed the claim, magically a $300 deposit, from Kyte appeared back on my credit card statement. The process was stressful, traumatic and very unnecessary. To be unable to reach a real human who cared during these months was unbelievable. Fantastic experience! I was very impressed - our surfer was there as soon as we landed, gave us the keys, was open to answering any questions, and we were on our way! We didn't have to wait in long lines to get a car. He even called before our drop off time to make sure we knew where to go for drop off and to see if have any questions. Garbage. I tried to rent a car from them through Priceline, they hit my account for a $500 deposit which was not clearly disclosed before I gave them my banking information. The verification process failed because apparently I dont look like my drivers license enough for them (I've lost 40lbs, my face is thinner and I was wearing glasses). I didnt even have an option to approve the photo they took as soon as my face was in focus, and you don't get another try. They reversed the cost of the car right away but not my deposit and customer service is difficult to get ahold of. Predatory at best and wildly inconvenient. read more

I was interested in this service for a few reasons. One, we didn't need a car the whole time and they deliver the car to you; two, it was less expensive than picking a car up at the airport; three, overall it seemed really convenient. So, reserved a car for late May. Less than 24 hours before we were to get the car, I received an email that my reservation had been cancelled and my money refunded. Due to weather. In Denver. There was a threat of snow. Mind you, there was not a declared snow emergency making driving impossible. It was merely impending snow. I tried calling. Couldn't get through. Actually got hung up on twice by the automated service. I tried the chat function. Couldn't get through. Waited an hour, no response. Finally got through by email. Asked to speak to someone - that I be called. That was ignored. Was told there was nothing I could do, they cancelled due to weather. I asked if this was a policy to not deliver in bad weather. Received no response. I asked for more than my money back due to the inconvenience. Was told no, but they gave me a $50 credit for a service I will never use. Did I mention that Denver got 3" of snow that didn't even require plowing, and a snow emergency never happened? In summary, buyer beware. This company apparently relies on perfect weather to conduct their business. The customer service is veritably unreachable and no attempt was made to satisfy my needs. They could have simply requested to delay delivery and that would have been fine. Long story short, jokes on them, we got a car from Hertz, it was half of what we were going to pay at Kyte and we got an upgraded vehicle. read more

AVOID THE NIGHTMARE..no matter the cost go with another car rental company. Was lured in by the price quote that was 1/2 what the major companies were asking for my recent 4 day trip to Denver, CO. They charge a $300 hold/deposit for damages on top of the rental price, but for some reason could not run my credit card, so they were not going to rent the car to me, or refund the money, only offered to give a Kyte credit, unless I could produce another card, so I gave my debit card. They then charged $500 instead, stating for debit cards the deposit hold is more. They upfront tell you they will bring the car to you, but that's not entirely true. They dont go to DEN airport, the closest drop/pick up location is Central Park Train Station. Train ride is $10.50 each way ( if going to DEN). My pick up time was 9:00 pm in this park and ride lot for the train. Standing and waiting with my suitcase for the Kyte "Surfer". No formal way to establish who is a legit driver and who isn't. Just take their word for it. They dont use pictures of the drivers, or secure QR code scanning, or even tell you what vehicle is coming... just a "corolla like vehicle". Felt very vulnerable and at risk. I did get the car as promised, but the exchange was just a verbal, "I am the Kyte driver, here is your car" and handed over the keys. It was a great car and drove fine. Drop off of the car was the beginning of a frustrating experience becoming a VERY bad experience. Dropped off the keys to a guy who said he was a Kyte driver. About an hour later started receiving texts from Kyte that I was being charged for missing my drop off time. They only will talk to you thru instant chat/ text. I wanted to call and resolve the issue and was told the phone #, but advised it was reserved for emergencies, that they couldn't tie up the line talking to me. After several attempts to tell them the car had been dropped off they stated the car had not been received and that it was stolen, and I needed to call the police. By this time I had landed and was not in the area any longer. I did not have the VIN, or vehicle info and told them it would make more sense for them to report it, and they refused. They never asked for any details about who I gave the keys to, or to the drop off. So essentially they had the keys/car and my deposit. I called the Denver police and started the report, the officer had questions I could not answer, so he made a 3 way call to Kyte and their "emergency line" only number stated the offices were closed and to call back the next day. They sent me multiple texts and emails asking if I had made the police report, when I responded the officer needed to speak with them the next communication was an email stating they had "received" the car and were refunding my money. The money appeared in my account for less than 24hours, then disappeared again. I am now filing with my bank for a disputed transaction. The police were only able to assist me while it was a stolen vehicle case. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE, BROKEN WEB SITE and SEVERELY LIMITED COMMUNICATION OPTIONS. I set up a rental with Kyte In Denver for 7/7/2022 for 4 days. Since they don't do pick up at the airport (airports typical have a huge concession fee that you can avoid by renting outside the airport) There "airport" pick-up location was Central Park station on the airport rail from the airport to downtown Denver. I rented from them because there price was about of other rentals I could get at the time. I tried multiple times to change the time of pick-up on their web site. It looked like it worked, but when you logged back on it had not changed. I used their web chat to try to change times. Responses took at least a day. And then they said that via chat that it was not possible to change my drop-off time from 3:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Didn't make sense. A different day or a later time I could understand, but not one hour earlier. So then I tried to find a local phone number. NONE available. (Just a national number in San Francisco) Think of the implications. The surferer doesn't show up with the car or doesn't show up to pick-up the car. Your flight is delayed and you can make the pick-up time. And you can't call and the chat takes a day to respond.... A couple of days before our departure I found an Airport pick up with Alamo for about $20 more, took that and cancelled the Kyte reservation before the 48 hour deadline. I received the following text from the SF number: "Your trip was cancelled! We hope to see you again next time." No reference to my reservation number and no cancellation reference number. Not a good business practice. OBTW the train from the airport costs about $10, so it would have been $40 round trip for the two of us. The other bad reviews sealed the case. Just too risky for me. read more
