This is by far one of the most efficient and friendly car rental places in all of the traveling that I have done domestically and internationally. Our initial reservation at Hertz (down the street) was cancelled by the manager there after waiting for 35 mins to find out the electric car that we reserved was not available. Luckily, I was able to quickly reserve another vehicle on the Avis app before I even reached the rental shop. We got the car within 5 mins of handing over my license and were out of the lot within 10 mins. The car was brand new, clean, and reliable. We were able to enjoy the weekend by visiting surrounding areas. After hour drop offs were very convenient and allowed us to avoid looking for parking while staying in CBD. I was super pleasantly surprised with my experience at this Avis location in downtown Denver! I've had many just so-so, if not downright bad experiences with various rental companies/locations. However, my experience picking up and dropping off here was seamless. My flight came late and the place was scheduled to close 5 mins before my uber would arrive -- I called them from the number on google and Neil was working that day. He said he would make sure to hang out until I arrived, which was at 5:53pm (they close at 6!)! He got my car checked out to me in about 5 minutes, and when I realized the car only had USB C ports and I had a USB A cable for CarPlay, I went back inside and Neil loaned me a converter that he had bought himself to provide to folks. So kind! I guaranteed him I would bring it back (and did). It was a very nice gesture. There was only one group in front of me and the total wait was only a couple of minutes before I was helped. The location is small, and they had the car ready right in the front so I drove it straight off the lot and got onto the freeway in minutes to head toward Breckenridge. Last notes - they had a bathroom, it wasn't immaculate but I just needed to pee! They had a water station in the back too, I asked Neil to fill my water bottle before I got to driving and he graciously did. When I came to drop off the car, I was met by a staff member out front who took the key and Neil's converter back, gave me a receipt, and had me on my way in about 3 minutes. Prepaid $770 for an F150. Got there and they played games - "oh we don't know if there's one here but you can take this Ford Explorer if you want a vehicle now or you can wait a few hours". It was 11pm. My husband took the car they had, they didn't credit anything and then had the nerve to throw a cleaning fee of $125 after we returned it, seemingly because we didn't buy their insurance. Told us to submit it to our insurance and to "have a nice day". The car was clean, no pets no dirt and no trash. Never again Avis will we rent from you. Back to Hertz or National. Or Billy bobs rental company - anything but Avis. read more

This used to be my favorite car rental company. The Denver airport Avis unfortunately changed that. While renting the car I got a ticket for not having a license plate on the front of the car. Since it's a rental I called Avis customer service and they said no problem that when I return it the management at the denver airport would take care of it. When I returned the car the manager said it was my responsibility to take care of any ticket I incurred. I called their customer service and they told me to email it to them and they would take care of it. I did, and they did. I rented an electric vehicle from Avis that completely died within HOURS of picking it up. It left me stranded with no lights, no power, no ability to move the car -- and to make matters worse, it blocked two working vehicles in a driveway for 4 hours while I waited for the tow truck Avis promised would arrive in 2 hours. After spending exponentially more time waiting on a tow than driving the car, I declined because instead of bringing it to me, I would have spent another 3 hours going with the tow truck to get the replacement and I was only supposed to have it for one more day. They offered me only a 30% refund -- despite the fact that I: Drove the car for maybe 30 miles Spent hours on the phone and emailing with customer service Had no access to a working vehicle for the remainder of my trip Lost valuable time and was left to coordinate my own backup transportation To top it off, days later, I got a text claiming the car was 3 DAYS OVERDUE... after they towed it back themselves. Material could have been shaken off the floor mats in seconds. When we checked in, nothing was said about the condition of the car. I was able to rent the car through the Avis app and then when I showed up on rental day the lady working was very nice and hustling. I think it was just her and one other gentlemen working to get through what seemed like a steady queue of reservations. So pick up, and return was easy. Buuuut, our car smelled so bad! I really can't decide if it smelled like human feces or a papermill. Either way, we rode with the windows down. Avis just charged us a cleaning fee of $250 for what they said was excess sand from a two-week vacation hiking in the mountains in Colorado. They sent us pictures and all that they showed was a normal amount of dirt from two weeks of use. Apparently, their rental agreement says that we need to return the car in the condition in which we found it. Never have we been told by a rental car company that we need to vacuum out our car before returning. They claim they need to send cars out for cleaning if there is too much dirt - they don't vacuum their cars as part of the standard cleaning process? This car was definitely not overly dirty and we are furious. On top of that, we ordered and paid for an SUV, but we were assigned a mini-van. We had to go inside and wait in line to get this switched to an SUV. Then the car we got had a faulty control screen that kept turning off and needed rebooting every time we used the car. We finally just gave up trying to listen to the radio or use other controls. And the car rattled for some reason on the left side. We never figured out what that was. We do not plan to use Avis again, especially in Denver where we travel six times a year - very annoying! read more

Then the shuttle has two locations and doesn't explain which is which. I ended up waiting in line at Avis preferred, not knowing you needed a membership. Preferred Avis Member, car reserved, keys in car but we were told we had to wait in line behind 30 other guests. The outside Avis agent told guests all of the cars were being washed and would be ready soon. This story was shared frequently as the line grew. One in our group walked to the car washes (there were two) and neither were being used. He was questioned by an Avis rep why he was over there. An hour after arrival, we finally received our white Chevrolet Suburban but not the original one we were promised. This one was dirty on the outside and the inside. A rental car for one week from here: $222. A rental car from airport during same week: $600+ It's a 25-minute Uber (or Lyft), which on UberX should cost $40. You will save about $350. The service at this location is great, and the Subaru was dynamite on gas. I also like the orange light indicators on the side mirrors when someone was nearby (goes with a sound from inside the car). That Subaru went to Vail, Frisco, Dillon, Keystone, Silverthorne, and Denver. Thankful for unlimited mileage. The Uber ride to the airport was ... different. Uber Dude pulled into the Avis driveway right after I returned the car, only this Uber driver had a big red scab on his nose, bloodshot eyes, and he kept sniffling. Then Uber Dude asked me to shake his hand while saying, "It's just the dryness out here. I just woke up." I rolled the dice and we went with him after hijacking Uber with our phones. During the ride, and after some conversation, he told me he wanted to name his son after me. Then he told me the story about Daniel and the Lion's Den. I already knew this story, but I listened anyway. After the story, he immediately shifted thoughts and asked me if I knew karate. Say what? Lol. I told him I didn't. He said I looked like I knew karate. So, I told him I ate Cap'n Crunch that morning. I wanted to see how he handled it. He said, "I love Cap'n Crunch! I wish I had it this morning while watching SpongeBob, but I only had Pop-Tarts. While watching it, I realized only Season One and Season Two are really good." "I agree." "Does my car smell?" "Nope. This was an A++++++ experience. I had booked a Tahoe with Hertz via Expedia before remembering that I don't have (or want) a credit card. Long story short and without bashing the competitors, this Avis made renting a Tahoe, at the very last minute, completely easy. I have used AVIS for the past five years for business and personal travel. Several friction points over the years. Very difficult to be able to reach a representative/agent to solve issues. Just received an E-toll charge from a Denver rental. The highway toll sign both ways said 'NO TOLL' with a large placard over the highway. Avis did not get charged, so I do not incur a charge. I've been on telephone hold for 47 minutes and still waiting. I tried to log in to my AVIS site (successful), then when I have to separately log in to the AVIS customer service site, it asks you to log in again, and then says that your password is incorrect. Given customer service challenges in the past, this is likely purposeful. 1. I do not intend to pay an etoll for a charge that was not incurred. 2. AVIS needs to have an actual customer service line that works--- both via phone, and via email. Get your act together. read more

I decided to rent from here after reading all the bad reviews of the rentals near the airport. For time sake I'm really glad that I rented here because it was worth the extra $30 to Uber from the airport to here and avoid waiting in a long line. I had no issues except when I picked up the vehicle it had an odor in it. They went over the TOA with me and to my understanding the car had been cleaned so I figured that was as much of the smell they could get out. When I returned the vehicle they told me I would be charged a $250 cleaning fee because of the odor that did not come from me. I was appalled and explained that it smelt this way when I picked it up. (I only had the car for 2 days) I asked if they could look into the previous renters to see if they had been charged the fee because it did not come from me. I told them I would follow up in a few days and I did. When I reached out they immediately told me that they looked into it and that I'd still be charged which is unfair for one and two I have no way to know that they even checked. Make sure you document everything if you rent here so they don't tack on any extra charges that have nothing to do with you. read more

I would not recommend Avis whatsoever. For years I have used them over every other company, and used them again on a trip in November instead of a cheaper company, because I believe they would take care of me as a customer as they had in the past. I was wrong, and will not use them again. We had a fine experience checking in (well, that is until I realized what happened later) and with our vehicle. However, when we dropped our vehicle off 4 days later we were charged a $75 fee I did not recognize. I tried to call this office but no one answers, and I live in another state. So I contacted the National office, and that was a joke. I was told the charge was for a toll pass - which we never agreed to, and in 3 and a half days of driving (and not a lot) I can guarantee we did not accrue anywhere near that amount in toll charges either. We remembered having a specific conversation with the employee who checked us in, where he said "just fill up the gas tank, and we'll take care of the tolls." I tried to explain this to the woman who helped me on the phone but she did not care, and when I asked her to escalate it to be sent to the Denver office to review, she basically said she would but I would not hear back, and she was rude as well. I don't entirely know why I'm even taking the time to review because Avis and this office included clearly so not care about their customers and will charge you a shady unexplained fee, except that maybe it'll save someone else from the same experience. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever encountered when renting a car. The wait in line was 1 1/2 hr to have paperwork filled out, which maybe if it's a busy time of year, weekend in Sep not holiday weekend, may be acceptable, but then after waiting in that line, you cannot just walk to your car like other rental car companies. We had to wait in another long line, another 1 1/2, to have someone bring the car to us. It was the most ridiculous setup and very inefficient. Also, Avis and their partner Budget set aside an additional $200 as a security deposit. I reserved and paid for the car using my Costco credit card so there was no reason for them to take an additional security deposit. If you can reserve with anyone else , do it! read more

Wow. This really ruined our trip. So we had a reservation for 21-26th that we made online. The woman that help us there was very nice. She gave us our car and we left. She did have trouble finding our reservation but it was fine. We found out later she ultimately gave us a completely different car with different dates without us know. Our car was due back on the 23rd and we got hit with so many fees and extra payments. As we had already paid for the car in full for the 21st-26th. We called customer service who was very rude and nasty. Just not a pleasant experience all around. We are out 500 dollars and we are kind of in a bad position. I would suggest maybe going with a different car rental agency. It'll really be better for your pocket. read more

Rented from Avis location at 3203 QUEBEC St Denver CO. They charged me an extra day when I arrived for drop off. Their office was already closed at 12pm on a Saturday, so I dropped my keys in the Dropbox. During pick-up, I was not informed that I would be charged an extra day after they closed. The early close time seems intentionally early as an excuse to drive excessive late fees. The Avis desk person did not inform me of these appalling business practices. I believe this to be an unethical business operation. With that, I will be reporting this to authorities and local news channels. read more

5 Star Customer Service! I was in Denver for business and 2 people went above & beyond to help me: Brandy Santee (owner) and Thailer. My rental experience went very well overall start to finish. But then when I dropped off the car, I accidentally left my work notebook in the car. I realized during my flight home. When I landed, I already had a voice message from them letting me know they'd found it. Thailer had found it when cleaning the car, called my cell and left a message to let me know and that they were holding it for me. Wow! THEN, Brandy was phenomenal helping me make arrangements to get it shipped to me at my house. Including tracking down and resolving a FedEx snaffu.
