The service was quick and courteous. The food was pretty good and the portions aren't too bad and very filling. If you come with another person you'll be safe ordering just one side of fries. I had the Mountain Climber, which was pretty good except the fact that the lettuce was a huge blob. I had to take it out and eat it as a side. The stinky pig fries were really good, but I think if given the choice I'd probably order a side of guac on top if it's possible. It's a bit too dry and I'm not a fan of ranch since it overpowers the other flavors. Service was slow and parking sucks. Let's get the worst out of the way. I put in an online order at 6:00; didn't get it until 6:40. They may have been busy with dinner service. I arrived and asked about online pickups; I gave the guy at the front register my name and he says, "We'll call you when it's ready" Call me when it's ready!? It should've been ready 10 minutes ago. 2 minutes later another lady asks my name and goes and gets my burger (already cooked); takes her sweet time to get me some fries and I finally get my food. She apologized for the wait but what urked me the most was the first guy who seemed indifferent that people might actually want their food fresh and hot. Maybe I was keeping him from his smartphone... I dunno. I walk back to my car eating my freshly made fries.... "Mmmm, these are good", things are improving. I sit down and unwrap my now lukewarm burger and take a bite... Hey, it's pretty doggone good considering it's not as fresh as it could be. I ordered the Mountain Climber (without the lettuce, as another reviewer suggested) and wolfed it down. This is as good as any burger I've had that has cost twice as much. I might have to double up on the meat and cheese next time because it didn't last long. Fries portions are easily enough for 2 people. I give this place 4 stars here; though realistically it was a 3.5. I think the key take-away is don't order online during dinner hours. But I definitely want to come back. Any part of this place alone would be enough to deserve five stars. They make their buns here daily and I would eat those by the bucketful if I had the stomach for it. All of their portions are decent sized and their milkshakes and fries are great. The kids' menu is fairly basic but very customizable and the service here is super fast and friendly. The price point is great, too--a burger, fries and a soda are 9 dollars for much higher quality than fast food. There's a big chalkboard for little ones to write on and a really open vibe to the restaurant. Not to mention the fact that the cause for this makes my heart sing. I highly recommend this place. They warn ou that the salad is spicy and believe them it is with jalapenos in it but mixed with everything in the salad it's a good spice. I had a craft beer with my meal that made it a perfect meal. I've eaten at Kyles many times and it has rarely disappointed. The burgers and salads are freshly made and delicious. Hamburger buns and rolls are homemade and taste so much better than commercial versions. Portions are big enough for my boyfriend and plenty for me (I often take half of mine home for another meal). Service is usually great. I've only had a problem once with trying to call in an order. I had my dog in the car and staff was too busy to take my order over the phone, forcing me to leave the car and go into the restaurant to order. I like the food, but I don't know if I would go back. The 3 stars are all for the food. It was a good burger (although the patty was a bit on the small side), I wasn't crazy about the fries but I don't normally eat them. The lemonade was great. The price was also far. In my opinion where they lost two stars was in how they handle takeout orders. I was on my lunch break and I wanted to order ahead, they have an online ordering option but their site is not secured and personally I don't like putting my card into sites like that. There was no option to pay when I got there or anything like that. So I tried to call in my order, I was informed that they do not take phone orders. This was hugely incontinent for me but by this time I really wanted a burger. So I walked in and spent half my lunch waiting. Total disappointment. I had the Klassic Kyle burger ... While the bun was good (not great), the burger was poor. The meat was reminiscent of one of those thin frozen patties. No flavor and barely there, to make up for it they load on the lettuce, some mediocre tomato, etc.. At least the pickle on the burger was good. The fries were tasty. We got the "cheesy pig" burger (bacon added to the classic cheeseburger), and though it was tasty, the burger patty was TINY. Love that the owner responds to the reviews. Shows engagement and that he really cares. Con's: Burger / meat seems on the skimpy size, if it's a 1/4 lb, I'd be surprised. Condiments weren't especially flavorful on my burger. I had the Mountain Man which has Pepper Jack, Jalepeno & fried onion strings with Jalepeno mayo, couldn't really define any of the flavors. Fries were slightly warm, not super hot. Beer (Fig Mtn Hoppy Poppy) seemed a bit off tasting. Overall, a welcome addition to the Goleta eating scene. I wasn't blown away by the food yet, but overall it's a good value. I'd go back to try another burger and double up on the protein next time. Suggestion: Order numbers are on the small size and low, so the food runners may have a tough time seeing them. I watched my order take a lap through the restaurant and patio which may have resulted in my fries cooling off in the minute or two that took. If they switch to something a little larger & taller it might be easier for the servers to scan the room and get the food to patrons a bit quicker. Kids will dig this place! This place is great! I heard about it from a friend who lives nearby and when he said it was open today, I had to give it a try! I love the decor with the wood wall and the chalkboard was a lot of fun. The kids that were there all had fun playing on it. But what really stood out was the food! The fries, however, seemed very greasy. Maybe it's because I took my food to-go, but it looked and tasted soggy by the time I got back home. Still good though! Finally, the chocolate malt shake. So good that I finished before I got home, but not worth the price. It cost $4 for a small cup that isn't even filled to the top. It was about 75% shake and 25% whipped cream. I am still on the fence about Kyle's. I have had the same thing twice.. a Kyle burger with fries. The first time the burger was delicious. The buns are phenomenal. However the fries were on the cold and soggy side. The second time the fries were delicious and the burger was sub par. It was still good but the patty was very small. Kyle's Kitchen is the newest eatery in Goleta, CA. It's some of the best food I've had in a long time, everything is fresh & made to order. There's a very nice outdoor patio for dining as well as inside. The best part about Kyles kitchen is a percentage of their proceeds are donated to special education. Kyle is a little doll that warmly greets you with a hug. His mom, dad and sisters can be found at the restaurant also. They are into health conscious eating. The chicken sandwich is AWESOME here, though, and I'd go out of my way to say that if you're into a chicken sandwich, you'll probably like this place! I was fairly disappointed in the fries, though -- which isn't a dealbreaker, but it's a little upsetting. If you've ever been to Silvergreens (Kyle's Kitchen's sister restaurant), the fries are exactly the same. If you like those things, you'll like the ones here. In my opinion, they're a little too herb-encrusted, sometimes undercooked, greasy, and sometimes cold. Even more upsetting, the specialty fries (Stinky Pig with blue cheese and bacon, Fire Fries with jalapeno and cheese) are expensive and leave a LOT to be desired. I prefer the plain old herb fries -- which I don't even like -- to those, as tempting as they may be. Kyle's Kitchen is often crowded, so be prepared to sit at the tables outside if you don't want to wait around for a table or booth. I recommend "doubling up" since the patties are thinner than most places. The Brioche buns are awesome! Even though we doubled up, the burgers were still very light & satisfying. I ordered the "Bacon & Egg burger" ( GRUB ! ) & the Wife ordered "The Cheesy Pig" which is your classic bacon cheeseburger. Fries : natural thin cut with skins kinda like In&Out's ( but not ). Not too heavy on the grease & seasoned nicely. Salads : I ordered the Thai Peanut salad ( sm ). had good flavor , but I drowned mine in extra peanut sauce ;-). Wife had the Wedge. Basic classic Wedge salad. Greens and veggies were crisp and fresh on both dishes. Shakes : we all shared the "birthday Cake" and "Fat Guerilla " shakes. I got horrible food poisoning from either the veggie burger or the ceasar salad. Within 30 minutes the food felt like a rock in my stomach, and within an hour I was sick to my stomach. Tried the Kyle's classic burger combo. It was average, the bun is so huge it makes the meat patty look dinky and what's up with all the herbs on the fries? Just give us the best fries you can make minus the gimmicks. Price was too expensive, it was around $10.50 for a combo for a single (thin) patty! You can get a double cheeseburger combo at better places for much less. I'd be ok if the massive sized bun came with a massive sized meat patty. So I went to the soda fountain and the root beer came out watery. So I switched to Dr Pepper and nothing but water came out. Then I went to the restroom and there are no paper towels (just hand blowers), so after you wash your hands you're forced to touch the door handle - just what you want right before eating finger foods. Why don't these places provide towels with a trash can next to the door, so we can open the door with the towel then toss it in the trash on the way out? read more

The burger for being for extremely thin it was still managed to be undercooked. Not medium rare, RARE. For a restaurant that does not ask for temps, this is not the way to serve it. The meat was also lacking flavor and seasoning. The bun was decent but overpowered by blandness between them. I ordered the fire fries which also came out undercooked, soggy, an with the appearance and consistency of being microwaved to melt the small amount of cheese in the middle. The "fire" aspect was just a few slices of jalepeno sprinkled on top. Will never come back. read more
