My family recently hosted a rehearsal party on Friday night. The bridal party was a little late so we appreciated the kitchen, trying to catch up and making sure everyone has serve served before the bar and the kitchen were closed. The biggest highlight revolved around the staff working so hard making sure everything was cleared for us as well as making sure if any food orders were missing or there was someone missing their food. I ordered the chicken sandwich and I was absolutely blown away by how large it was and how flavorful their steak fries were. I'll have to try ther barbecue the next time I'm around! read more

We were taking a slow road trip from LA to SF and making stops to see historical points of interest. We realized we were hungry, and this was the closest restaurant to us. I am so glad we stopped by! I love historic eateries, and this one seems extra special. The restaurant itself is huge, with multiple dining rooms and event spaces. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts, and decided to sit at the bar. Our bartender was very friendly and helpful, and pointed out that we still had time for happy hour! We ordered the Brussels sprouts, with a bright citrus kick and not overly-charred like a lot of other restaurants. I ordered the grilled artichoke, the shrimp, corn and jalapeno fritters, and a Winchester cocktail. Husband ordered the Stack sandwich (prime rib, bacon, crispy onions, jack cheese, lettuce and tomato, side of fries). We both really enjoyed the food and ordered another round of drinks. The fritters had a delicious, complex flavor and a good kick! I wish the artichoke had been seasoned more between the leaves so that the "petals" would be softer and more flavorful, but I still really enjoyed it with the aioli. We also split the butter cake, which came with a scoop of ice cream. Our bartender told us that the owner's wife makes the carrot cake from scratch every day (I love restaurant with stories like that!) and we would have ordered that too if we weren't so full! The restaurant also has a huge, dog friendly patio with games. I really liked this restaurant and I'm so glad we just happened to find it on our trip. I'd love to go back. read more

For a steakhouse that is supposed to be popular, at lunch it was a ghost town. Still it is a nice place inside and looks classy yet comfortable. Since I had a big breakfast with another client just a few hours earlier, I wasn't that hungry and opted for a salad. I had the Santa Barbara Caesar and it was fantastic with nice chunks of perfectly cooked tri tip. Our server was really great. She was super attentive and our glasses were never empty. Lunch for four today, Oct 2. A lot of menu choices, including Bar=B-Q specials. Our party had The Stack sandwich, Fish & Chips, Chx Parm and a rib-eye steak. They do great on sandwiches, including French Dip, Ti-tip, and 'The Stack,' a mixture of cuts including bacon and beef. The Chicken Parm was huge, and tasty as usual. The Stack was big and delicious as usual. The steak, alas, was not so good. Had a nice char, but was a bit overdone, more than medium-rare requested. The problem was simply the beef quality; too fatty, gristely, tough. Not helped by a pathetically dull steak knife. My suggestion? Just buy the beef at Costco, it is way better even in Choice. Aside from the steak issue, things were great. I should add, I had a good Bloody Mary, and the staff was great; welcoming and attentive. I just should have chosen something other than the ribeye. My husband had steak with a nice horseradish sauce. The rib soup wasn't that good. However, the homemade apple pie was delish! Very tart and just the right texture for the crust. I had the worst dining experience I have ever had here. I have been coming here for 5 years as the steaks are excellent. Recently approximately in last year the place is declining. Steaks are tough in texture, building falling apart and dirty. Last night I took friends and immediately one person mentioned this place is really rundown. Service was horrible , waitress was rude, had to send a salad back because lettuce was rotten this made her mad and ribeye steak I ordered was the worst steak I have ever had, even my guests mentioned the steak was of very poor quality, it was about a 1/2 thick and meat had a foul taste, I did not send it back because of the attitude the waitress had when I sent salad back. I wanted to leave at that point, I did not do it because of my guests. I just was miserable throughout the whole dinner and paid a high amount for a very bad dining experience. Will never go back there again and I apologized to my guests for taking them here for dinner. Visited twice. The first time the food was good and so was the service. The second time, food and service both were disappointing. Our table seemed to be invisible to staff. The busboy ended up taking our order. The fish and chips which was great on the first visit was not nearly of the same quality, and I ended up having to walk to the reception to obtain the bill. Disappointing experience at a place we've loved for years. My partner and I have been regulars at Timbers Roadhouse for years, stopping by 4-5 times annually whenever we pass through Goleta. This visit was unfortunately our worst experience there by far. It was the first time we'd sat in the dining room instead of the bar. It was early - around 5:00. The happy hour buffalo chicken sliders and Brussels sprouts were good. However, things went downhill with our entrees. My tri-tip dinner (ordered medium rare) arrived as two thin slices of medium rare covering three slices of gray, well-done meat underneath. It was tough and tasted old - it seemed like the kitchen was trying to hide poor quality, overcooked meat. My partner's ribeye was cooked to the right temperature but extremely gristly - only about half of the twelve ounces was actually edible. When I sent my tri-tip back, our server (who was genuinely trying to help) returned to say they were out of tri-tip and a new one would take 45 minutes. By then my partner was halfway through his steak. I asked to just have the meat removed and I'd just eat my sides. Here's where it went from bad to worse: the manager (owner's daughter) charged us $7 each for the sides as "à la carte" items and argued when I explained I only ate them because that's all I had. She eventually offered 50% off the entrée but her confrontational attitude made things worse. The owner was more understanding when we escalated it to her, but the damage was done. Our server did her best in a tough situation - the issues were with the kitchen and management's handling of the problem. Really heartbroken about this experience at a place we've loved. We'll probably try again someday but will stick to burgers and salads at the bar. read more

Well seasoned meat with great flavor. Those green beans were amazing full of flavor and garlic. I asked for prime rib medium well and was a bit over cooked for my liking. But it was still good and tender. They have fabulous ranch dressing taste like the classic, if you know you know. Dessert was yummy had chocolate lava cake, forgot to take pic. Was really moist and chocolaty perfect with the vanilla ice cream. The place just gives off an old classic style with the timber wood, very rustic feel. Service was a bit on the slow side, but we were not in a hurry. I prefer that vs being rushed. I had to flag down our waiter to get more water and raw horseradish, the cream one had no kick. I had dinner at The Timber's last night and I must say that it was amazing! (I rarely use that term) Gino prepared a fabulous Tanqueray TEN martini The Giant BBQ smoked beef rib was perfection! Just enough smoke, fat was beautifully rendered yielding a juicy, tender result, BBQ sauce delicious... I polished off the entire rib! Mashed potatoes were fluffy, buttery, perfectly seasoned, Caesar salad was fresh, crispy Romaine, dressing homemade and perfectly balanced, creamy with punches of garlic and lemon. Sky was my marvelous server, she is so friendly, expedient, professional and knowledgeable of the menu Kim and Gino are very hospitable, good people that work tirelessly to provide excellent fare and friendly service ...I can't stop thinking about that BBQ beef rib! My husband and I brought our littles to enjoy a sit down dinner for our last night of camping at El Capitan State Beach. I ordered the small bowl of the prime rib soup with a side ceaser salad and they were good. Only thing negative i have to say was that i didn't care that the veggies and meat in the soup were tiny pieces. it was more juice/broth than chunks of actual food. BUT! there was flavor! My husband and one of my sons ordered the special for that evening, flat iron steak with potatoes, their seasonal veggies (green beans) and a salad. they enjoyed their steaks. our other 4 kiddos ordered chicken strips with fries and those are always a win! Great experience to the money! Phillip was our server and did a great job! This place turned me into a lover of fried pickles! See the photos! I love a good wedge salad, and this was a good one! Great potato skins. The only thing that was not great were the ribs which my friend and the waiter said were overcooked. Phillip took them off the bill. The staff was friendly and greeted us right away. Our server shared both personal and staff favorites, along with add-on options that would complement our order. The iced tea was so flavorful, and the artichoke--served with Spicy Mayo and Clarified Butter--was absolutely delicious. Then came our Caesar salads, tossed with just the right amount of dressing and presented picture-perfect in the bowl. Next were the stars of the meal: our perfectly cooked Ribeye and Prime Rib! OMG--both cut like butter, cooked to the perfect temperature, and tasted amazing. The sides were just as impressive: garlic green beans, mashed potatoes, everything was spot-on. Our server checked on us every time she passed by, which made the experience even better. When we were leaving, we accidentally took our check to the front, but the bartender took the initiative--despite being busy--to help us out and close us out quickly. I even stopped the manager, who had been walking the floor throughout our visit, to give her praise for such an outstanding experience--one we haven't had since before Covid! We decided to go to a beautiful restaurant for our special family dinner about a week before Christmas. This year we decided on Timber's Roadhouse and it did NOT disappoint. Such lovely ambience with a large roaring fireplace. We also enjoyed learning more about the history behind the "timbers" which make up the building structure, from our servers. Great service too; very prompt! There were five of us and each member of our group received a large, beautiful dinner. I personally tried the sirloin steak soup, which was outstanding. The food here is terrible. Came here for dinner this past Sunday, and we were thoroughly disappointed . The restaurant interior is nice with plenty of seating and . There is also another dining area off to the side with a bar, which seems to be more casual. The menu has plenty of options from seafood, steaks, pastas, and sandwiches. The waiter was friendly and brought out house bread and took our order. We ordered prime rib and chicken parmigiana. The prime rib was overcooked and dry. The pasta sauce on the chicken parmigiana was no better than Ragu can pasta sauce. The salad and prime rib soup were also terrible , both lacking any flavor. Well, it's become our go-to spot for Sunday lunch, and either outside or inside is ideal. They also have a fun bar area which seems to be a very popular spot for celebrating life. And you sports fans will love the large screen televisions that surround the room, a perfect place for quality viewing. Menu includes some delicious and hearty dishes. We usually start with the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and Crispy Wings, and then thoroughly enjoy either the Tri Tip Sandwich, French Dip au Jus, and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. And the servers have been exceptional. Both Robin and Filip are very gracious, attentive, and spot-on with any food recommendations. The highlight of our first visit here is the service. The kind waiter was so attentive and he made us feel super welcome. Their food is pretty good and matches the vibe of the restaurant. We ordered the potato skins, brussel sprouts, french dip, and fried chicken sandwich. Their sandwiches were pretty good, but they were just missing some salt. Brussel sprouts were nice and crispy. My favorite were the onion rings that I got on the side for the chicken sandwich. Super crispy and loved the beer batter. I was told the potato skins were good, and they are really tasty with the ranch and sour cream. Side note: THEIR RANCH IS SO GOOD. I love a good ranch. For dessert we got the cheesecake and mud pie. Both were pretty satisfying for dessert, but not out of this world good. Loved our experience and will be back! read more
