I have been here for a few different things: oil change, inspections, new belts. Recently I was on my way to a cooking class downtown (I live near the shop) when my car started acting up. It died right when I parked in their parking lot. I was trying to phone a friend when one of the owners offered to give me a ride...all the way downtown...right around 5PM! How nice and impressive!! They charged my battery overnight but it still showed marginal charged. After the new belts it was running again; so I took it to Sears (where I bought the battery) and told them (even showed them the paper work KK gave me). After a bit of a wait, the Sears employee comes up to me and says my battery is fine but my back alignment is out. Huh? So did they just not want to honor my prorated warranty? I left. I went to Auto Zone for a third opinion. They tested it and said yes the battery is bad (car is still running...for now). I am sticking with Kwik Kar. I trust them and plan to purchase a new battery from them. Also, I love that they are dog friendly. I took my furry baby there and she loved the fenced dog park! Only advice...they did not come out there to tell me my car was ready; you have to walk up there (or call if you're lazy, LOL) and check for yourself. My car needs some major upkeep maintenance that I have been putting off. I am going to have it done here once I decide how I am going to pay for it. read more

I used to come here for all of my families car needs but had temporally moved away for a year. I just got back to the area and was almost even excited to bring my car to Kwik Kar for a routine oil change and break check because of how great my past experiences were. The waiting room used to be a very homey environment but now feels more like a dental office. It is still nice/clean, just nothing compared to what it used to be. The dog park, which used to be a great spot to wait with or without a fury friend, is nothing like what it used to be and is now unkept, overgrown, and trashy. The manager with a beard (I think his name was Mike) made me very uncomfortable with his obvious multiple attempts to woo me. I feel that when conducting business there is a pretty solid line between being nice/friendly and being importuning that as an adult he should be aware of. As I rotated between the indoor and outdoor areas while waiting for my car (about 45min), I noticed him clearly making other women uncomfortable as well. The rest of the staff seemed fine (also all wearing masks) but I did not really interact with anyone else. The service was fine but Kwik Kar used to be full of friendly (not creepy) staff and an amazing environment with really great coffee that made me actually not mind taking my car to the shop....what happened?? read more

When you tell someone you just want an oil change...that's really all you want. I understand they all have a job to do, but I don't want to be sold on 5000 things when I said when I came in I just want an oil change. The place is clean and the people are fairly nice although when I said I don't want to be rude when they were recommending a bunch of things but I really just want an oil change the guy said well you have a lot that needs to be recommended. I have 36,000 miles on the car and there really can't be that many things that need to be done. He was peturbed but could have saved him his anger if he just would have listened when I said I just want an oil change. I had an inspection several months ago and they were great and that is why I came back. Can't say I won't come back but just recommend listening to the customer. read more

The owners run a friendly and very attentive business but are money hungry. One of the owners projected to be 'locally owned and operated', how they aren't a chain and are here for the Austin locals. Well, sorry but this Austin local isn't too pleased with your prices. As a 3rd generation local and a son of two business owners, I found this location a slap in the face. Went in for a diagnostic, to find out what the issue is. 1. I over paid 2.turn around was not what was promised and 3. No follow up phone call. I advice to find other locally owned and operated auto shops. The estimated invoice I was given was outrageous, found a local shop in the area showed them my estimate and they cut it in half. I love that this is a family owned business, you can tell in their customer service attitudes that they just want to help. I've been going here ever since I moved south a few years ago. It's very convenient for me as far as the location goes, but aside from that, they truly are quick with service. I have never met a rude or dishonest staff member here- they'll tell you what's recommended, what's not worth the money, and what really needs to happen. I once took my car in to the Jeep dealership off south 35 for a factory recall fix and the guy there "warned" me about Kwik Kar saying they offer less than satisfactory products. I thought that was very unprofessional of him and have never had a problem with Kwik Kar or anything they've ever used in my car. I have no plans to return to said Jeep dealership. read more

I'm updating my rating because the Kwik Kar Southwest sent me a nice note with a complimentary oil change and refunded the cost of the filter by sending me a check. I was also messaged with an explanation as to why their service was not what I expected that day, along with an apology, which was very kind and unexpected. Like I said originally, the people at Kwik Kar seemed very friendly, and apparently they are also responsive, albeit with a slight delay. Based on this and others' reviews, I'd consider giving them another shot. read more

I like this place for the most part. They did great work replacing my breaks and each oil change that has been done. There is a tech (Kevin) who had worked on my vehicle a couple times and I will request he no longer works on my vehicle anymore because when I decline any of his up sale suggestions he acts like I just rejected him as a date for the prom. When I told him I need a tire rotation and balance, from his expression and response you would have thought I asked him to rebuild the engine. Also, because apparently he dumped all my stuff out of the glovebox this last time and just half assed crammed everything back in with no regard to how it fit. If this is how he takes care of putting stuff back in my glovebox I can only imagine the half ass work he does on the rest of the car. (See picture) read more

I have gone to this station multiple times for an oil change. The place is efficient and helpful. The mechanics don't pressure me to do unnecessary things, though they explain what can be done. I used this place because it was literaly a 2 blocks from my place. I really didn't have any real problems with them but one person in particular rubbed me the wrong way. Had a slight attitude. They're always trying tp up sale but that's what most places do for oil changes. What I really didn't like is I am now going to Lamb's Tire and Auto and they do an oil change, the typical inspection and rotate your tires for free. It only cost me around $25 when Kwik Car charges around $40. Yeah Kwik car is a quick lube place and will usually get your car done quicky where as a place like Lamb's that does more extensive mechanical work as well may take an hour or two but for me saving $10-15 is worth waiting. Those quick lube places rip you off. read more

Been here for 2 vehicle inspections. Both times they were friendly and quick. The waiting area is adorable with a couch and plenty of chairs. Has a very homey feel to it. They even have books, not just magazines, for you to read! You can tell they care about their customers and the work they do. I've been to this location a few times for oil changes and inspections. The inside is very comfortable and is set up like a living room. It's a great place to wait while they are working on your car. If you're hungry, there are a few fast food restaurants (Culver's, Taco Bell, etc.) within easy walking distance. The staff is very nice and does a good job explaining any issues with your vehicle. I emailed them before my last visit to ask if they provided certain services and they were quick and friendly in their response. here's what I hate about most oil change businesses: you go in for one thing and you get pressured to buy another thing, or worse they just buy the other thing for you. I don't know what it is about this place but you can't get your oil changed for less than $44. It doesn't matter what special they're running it doesn't matter what they say it'll cost, by the end it's $44. Just up the road at the Wal-Mart on 290 is a Lamb's auto Center where I get my oil changed for $25. No surprises, no hard-sell. But at this place, Kwik Kar, get ready to endure some sophisticated sales techniques. Some of the other reviews said that this company contacts people following bad reviews. Great, professional and fast service from very friendly and experienced staff. I went in for an oil change at the end of the day (with a room full of customers) and was seen immediately. Not only did they change my oil, they did a full yearly scheduled maintenance checkup and were totally up front about what I needed and didn't need on the list. I am one of those types that is always leery of any auto care establishment. I am always afraid they will deliberately screw up my car in order to make me come back, or lie to me and tell me I need something I don't, etc. I am not a guy that knows a lot about the inner workings of cars and such. This place looks like any other Kwik Kar. This one is a franchise I think and is owned by a middle aged woman and her husband. You walk in and suddenly you feel very homely. The interior of the office area looks like your mother decorated it (those of you that had mothers that liked to make things all nice). Nice couch, comfortable chairs and a coffee table. The walls have been painted a relaxed earth color. It is a relaxing place to wait. I over heard the owner telling her customers one day that she made sure she hired the best most reliable and most certified technicians she could get. She personally guarantees all the work done at her business. She reminds me of a mother - she is very, you guessed, motherly. My first visit was for vehicle inspection on a Saturday. Surprisingly it took less than an hour. They are very focused on getting your vehicle done and not working on multiple vehicles at a time. I appreciate it getting done so fast and reliably. My second visit was for an oil change just the other day. I normally take my vehicle to Mazda South since I have free oil changes for another 10 visits that came with the purchase of the vehicle. All in all that is nice but it sometimes takes a couple of hours. Mazda South is apparently booked for the next week solid and I needed oil done now. It is overdue and I am probably making a trip to Dallas over the weekend, so I don;t want to push it. I went here instead, recalling my first visit and it took them 10 minutes. They do all their fluid checks and come and sit with you and tell you what you need and when you will probably need it done by. Transmission flushes, btw, are around $128, unlike at the dealership where it is $200. I will be coming back here for the rest of my fluid changes. The oil changes ... I really hate to give up 10 more free oil changes, but a 10 minute visit versus an hour or two is superb. The oil change is $35. I think that is a little more than most places but their service is totally work it. The people who are leaving reviews about feeling robbed and creepy staff and having even more car problems after their vehicle has been in need to not be creeped out or be prejudiced against the workers for asking you friendly questions or if your car is having so many problems why do you keep taking it back? Go get a second opinion if you think Kwik Kar is the cause of the problem Don't just keep taking it back. WTF? This is a complete car care facility so make use of it. If I lived in Georgetown I would still likely drive it down here for certain things. I love this place. If my opinion ever changes I will let you all know. read more

Took my truck in for an inspection. Just squeaked in at 5:20pm and they were closing at 6:00. They took me in as the last inspection of the day. I was out at 6:05pm. I moved South over a year ago, and the mechanic I used to take my truck to is in North Austin. With traffic like it is, I wanted somewhere closer. I read all of the reviews and responses, and glad I chose to try out Kwik Kar. I arrived just before they opened, and the staff was already there and ready. I took my 2005 ranger in for an oil change and brake check. After discussing options and my budget, I decided to go ahead on the oil change and brake fluid flush. The team finished in under an hour, and they even vacuumed and washed my windshield. I used the free Wi-Fi and coffee so I could work while I waited. Friendly service. I will be back! read more

This is probably the most positive experience I have had at an auto shop. I came in for a state inspection and was greeted as I drove up. The waiting room was VERY nice. There was even freshly brewed coffee and flavored creamer. The free wifi was also a nice touch. And to top off the experience, I was there less than 20 min! Who likes sitting in any car repair place? Well Kwik makes it as comfortable as possible. Besides the very nice techs working on your car the waiting area takes the cake instead of sitting in some over dressed office space your waiting in your moms livingroom that has a relaxing country feel to it. I really want to like this place more but something always happens that puts me off. The owners/staff here are great, they have a dog park, good place inside to sit and wait with lots of magazines. The staff is friendly and you feel welcome but like I said there is always something. The first time I came in for an oil change everything went fine but didn't vacuum or clean the windows on my car. I even watched them do the same thing to another customers truck in front of me. Another situation was when I came in for an oil change and inspection it took nearly 4 hours for the whole ordeal. Yes, it was my fault for not noticing it was the first of the month but after they did the oil change, they let several other inspections on vehicles that arrived after me go ahead. This was the main reason my stay was so long. Maybe I have bad luck but I'm still unsure if I'll come back here. read more
