I was hesitant on this place because of the reviews, but it was very good. Lechon had a nice crispy texture, juicy, and was well done. Longanaisa and Tocino were also very good. I think it would be good to add some other dishes such as beef calderetta, arroz caldo, and nilaga. Don't let the reviews dissuade you... my wife's family are Bay Area Filipinos, and they approved it as well! read more

Great food. I really like their take on Filipino food and caters toward the American pallet well.

Small , family-owned business just opened. Love their skewers and adobo. They need to work out some kinks but overall a great experience! I've been a frequent customer and they are constantly improving, I get to chat with some of the lolas working in the back. read more

Super excited and happy that I have a filipino restaurant 5 min away. I give this place 3 stars for now because they're new, nice, and have potential. So far I've tried the pork bbq, lumpia, pancit, turon, and halo halo. The portions are kind of small, so beware. The taste is fairly decent. The first few times I've gotten halo halo, they took 15 minutes to make it. I don't know why? It says they're open until 8pm, but they sometimes close before that. I think it would be a good idea to maybe do a buffet style some time in the future. Maybe offer it on the weekends? Just a suggestion. read more

I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews. As a pessimistic pinay I am highly critical when it comes to trying Filipino food that is made from anyone other than my grandmother. Trust me when I say this their adobo is delicious. I'd say it even compares to my grandmother's adobo, dare I say better! The adobo has an excellent flavor and texture and my mom and I even had left overs! I loved that the adobo was cut into tiny bite pieces and it was so SOFT. I was reluctant to try the pork belly, because I'm not a huge fan of fat, but it had a lovely flavor and texture as well. On to the turon... It's not what I expected, but I ended up really enjoying it! It wasn't too sweet and I thought the ube sauce was a unique take to this iconic Filipino treat! The inside is also really clean, which is a huge plus! (No sticky gross floors, IFYKYK). To my fellow Filipino food lovers, brothers, and sisters give this place a chance. It won't disappoint! read more

Amazing food, very tender pork and supper fluffy rice. Also amazing service there always so nice and complement me when I come in. Definitely a must try. read more

The restaurant is good. I love their Lechon Kawali and Pork Belly the host is attentive

Small portions and mediocre tasting food. Not worth the price, so I won't be returning. Too bad, because I was hoping to find a good local Filipino restaurant. read more

Lacks customer service. The lady (manager) was nice but lacks professionalism. She was dressed like she had worked in the yard. There was a man in the back that was preparing food in the back and he had no hair net, apron or gloves. He did eventually slip on gloves. There's an opening for the customers to see the kitchen and it would have been better not to see that. He also itches his hair while back there with no gloves on. There was another small older man in the back that had a mask, hairnet, apron and gloves on so that was a plus. The manager should have made the other cool follow suit. The food is decent but the lumpia is super small and overcooked compared to other Filipino restaurants. The chicken adobo was good. This place has potential to be really good with the right staff running it. read more

Way over priced for bland flavorless food... $26 for 2 plate I threw in the trash. Portions were so small I thought they gave me a kids plate. I am of Filipino decent and grew up in The Bay Area and this is far from good or authentic.. I'm very disappointed they really need to step there game up in the kitchen. Does not taste fresh at all. But hey they got some good bags of chips on the shelves I highly recommend oh yea and the white rice wasn't half bad either. This is from my order and experience today 10/23/2021 read more

Kusina - Filipino Near Me - Modesto, California

Happened to be next door when I saw this place near lunch time. It's a cute little family style restaurant. I have been craving lumpias for a while now, and didn't know where I could find some in modesto until now! It was my husbands first time eating Filipino food, and he was not disappointed ! We got the chicken adobo and an extra order of lumpia which were really good! Quick and fast service. Can't wait to come here again and try other items on the menu read more

The only thing better than this Filipino Spaghetti is if my Ate makes it and brings it to me. The lumpia was fresh and hot. It was like being with my family in the Bay Area, but down the street from my house. Can't wait to come back again. Only downside is the small portions. My boyfriend was still hungry. read more

Very disappointed. Was so excited to have a Filipino resto here so we don't have to go to the bay area. Unfortunately, food was tasteless, overpriced for the serving you get and very unorganized. Very slow service. Not authentic Pinoy food. I wanted to support it so much for my fellow kaBabayans so i came back 4 more times but no luck. Sorry not coming back again. read more

I ordered halo-halo (a concoction of various sweet treats) and turon (sliced bananas coated with brown sugar rolled in a spring roll wrapper and fried). Halo-halo tasted too sweet and too milky. It was lacking ice cream and sweet treat ingredients. It is not the typical halo-halo I normally buy at any Filipino restaurants. Also the price is too high. The turon was very oily and the banana didn't taste fresh. Also, I asked the server, Daniel if I can take the menu with me for future order, he said, No. I thought that it was unsanitary because it was paper that multiple people touched before me. I'm very disappointed with my experience. I hope you improve your dessert food menu. read more

No good. They call pansit noodles egg noodles and the combo meals have more rice than anything. I won't go back there.

When they first open, I ate a BBQ chicken platter and the street fish/shrimp balls. The platter was decent and the fish balls was yummy, but I was disappointed at first. Then yesterday I tried them again and I was not disappointed. Their Kare Kare was so yummy and the sisig and palabok. I think it depends who is cooking the meal. I believe the owner was the main cook last night. She even went up to me and my guro, asked if we enjoyed our meal. We sure did. She is adorable with her cute apron. I did appreciate how the staff made sure we enjoyed our meal. I hope they add the kare kare in the main menu. read more

I feel like the food could've been better. Portions were very small. Service was good.

Friendly staff, great food! Got the lechon and it was the best, its located at the century center area, which is now a bustling space. read more

We had eight Asian visitors from N.Y., and Hawaii visit, so we decided to vary the foods they were being exposed to in Modesto by dining at Kusina. The service was great with one of the servers even doing a brief description of the dishes, plus once ordered, the wait was minimal considering our group. The food was right on, with the guests exchanging comments on the taste of the different dishes. One guest mentioned that it would have been nice to have had chopsticks available! Definitely going to bring more guests, and recommend the restaurant for more exposure, and support! read more

It's a good Filipino Restaurant. They're Halo Halo would be good if they would add more to eat. Good food, good service and friendly customer service. Good Catering Service. read more

Finally Filipino in Modesto! Yum clean store good menu and full Filipino variety menu drinks and chips and other stuff too

This place is a hit and miss. There are some food that was good and some are bad. Their crispy Pata and toron were amazing! The lechon not much, I ordered it to go. I lived about a few blocks from the restaurant, when I got home the lechon was already cold and chewy. The skin was the worst, not crispy at all. The seasoning was too strong especially the bay leaf. The halo halo was over priced, it has mostly shaved ice and not much sweet ingredients. read more

Sisig is always good and Turon was amazing. Another fave of mine is the vegetable lumpia. Finally a Filipino restaurant in Modesto. We fully support this new business and the owners are Filipino. Tatum is very pleasant - she's the owner and main chef and DP is helpful too every time I go there to pick up food. Hopefully people will give them a chance. We really enjoy our food every time that we have ordered there. read more

I really hate to write this buhh maybe it'll help them improve. This was the worst, filipino restaurant I have ever been to. The young male server was terrible. Asked if we were ready to order without giving us menus. When are food arrived it was very white washed they also ran out of plates and served us with to go boxes lol. Again no napkins had to ask for that as well. I ordered the fried tilapia as well, the inside appeared raw so that was great lol. Overall horrible costumer service, very bland food it's a no for me. read more

Ordered chicken adobo got pork instead and when it got to the table it was cold like it was in the fridge for a couple days. Service was decent, also got the grilled pork belly it was okay as well read more

Had a delightful dinner trying food that was new to me. I appreciated our server, who described unfamiliar dishes and words. He was great! The food was amazing. I had chicken adobo dinner. I also sampled the delicious BBQ chicken skewers. All four of us really enjoyed our food. Fabulous. Inexpensive. I was so glad we tried it. I will be back. read more

Got 3 combo plates, pinakbet, grilled pork belly and pork adobo plus 2 side orders of lumpia Shanghai. The food was very tasty. The bihon was pretty good. Everyone who got a meal was very satisfied with the taste, the flavor, the price and the amount of food. Looking forward to trying something else on the menu. read more
