We were absolutely in awe the moment we walked into Vallarta Supermarkets. The store was incredibly clean, well organized, and packed with a huge variety of options. Whether you're there to do full grocery shopping or just want to stop in for a quick bite or refreshing drink, this place truly has it all. I was a huge fan of the agua fresca section--so many fresh, vibrant flavors--and the fruit station where they cut up fruit right in front of you. Freshness and service are clearly a priority here, and it shows. Everything felt high-quality and thoughtfully prepared. What really impressed me was the convenience: you can pick up fresh seafood, quality meats, ready-to-eat tacos, hot tamales, and still knock out your regular grocery shopping all in one place. It's honestly the kind of market that becomes a one-stop destination. I truly wish we had Vallarta stores in Stockton because they would absolutely flourish there. Yes, it's big and beautiful. The deli area seemed impressive. I couldn't get close enough to the deli to see the prices. They need a menu board. They had so many people gathered, waiting for food that it was more crowded than any carniceria I'd visited. I found a few things around the store to buy but the prices for the typical Spanish-language grocery were high. I found the Asian section and it was way too high. I ended up leaving without anything purchases. It's really impressive, though. read more

LOVED this place, and I don't think I've ever said that about any grocery market, especially in the Midwest! Three things stood out for us: cleanliness, the quality of the fresh food, and the friendliness of everyone we spoke to. Both my wife and I absolutely love Hispanic food, so we went in to explore when we stopped in Modesto for lunch. Everything we saw that day was being made fresh, most notably the guacamole, ceviche, and tamales. We bought all three and had them later that evening-SO enjoyable and flavorful! I love chicharrones (pork rinds), and here they have basic chicharrones, extra crunchy, and in sheets. I got a bag of the standard ones and they were better than anything I ever had in a plastic bag. The bakery case was amazing. We picked up a variety of things. The empanadas were beautiful, large, and very tasty. We got a variety of them and all were fantastic. I also found everyone to be very polite and most were pretty happy to talk to us about everything. Funny, but true: We purposefully planned to return to Modesto a few days later to stock up on a few more things before we flew back home to Ohio. SO worth it. I'm so honored that I was able to witness the opening of their first Vallarta Supermarkets location within Stanislaus County. If you know me, Vallarta Supermarkets is definitely the place to be -- but the drive used to be SO long because the closest branch to me was at least a 2 and a half hour drive to Fresno. After hearing that Vallarta Supermarkets was going to open in Modesto, I let out a sigh of relief because I wouldn't have to drive so far anymore, especially it being a 25-30 minute drive from my partner's house in Tracy -- which is SO much more convenient. As a result, the parking situation has COMPLETELY changed -- what used to be a very dead mall is now a LIVING PLAZA thanks to Vallarta. However, be aware of the parking -- it can get really crowded at times, and it can get REALLY hard to find parking, especially if you're trying to go on a weekend. Upon entering Vallarta, I was BLOWN AWAY by the amount of departments there were -- a carnicería, a tortillería, a bebería, a panadería..... honestly that list could go ON and ON. I was just amazed at the amount of people that worked there, hour in and hour out. They even had tamales ready to go, and y'all knowing me as a foodie -- you know I HAD to cop some tamales to bring on the road with me. They didn't just have tamales de puerco, they also had tamales de queso and tamales de pollo (regular pork tamales, special ones were the chicken tamales and cheese filling tamales). The pork tamales had enough masa and pork consistency, and so were the queso tamales. What's most surprising is, they DO have an Asian section -- with Filipino instant noodles and staples that they sell at Asian supermarkets, but with limited options. They also had TONS of options when it came to pan dulce -- most of which were priced quite fairly. Regular conchas came at around 99 cents per concha, which I found it to be quite cheap and hard to believe it was THAT cheap. In addition, the staff at Vallarta were quick to respond to any questions we had, and they had enough people on the floor to assist us with any needs and requests we had. Beyond excited they opened a Vallarta in Modesto!! When I was visiting family in Pismo they took me to a Vallarta Supermarket in Santa Maria. I absolutely loved it. I wished there was 1 closer to me. Babbbbby let me tell you dreams come true! I got an add in the paper that they were opening a new store in Modesto where the old Savemart used to be. I couldn't be more excited;) I went for the grand opening and could not stay. It was packed!! A complete madhouse. They were giving away free groceries , free coffee mugs etc. You cannot find a parking spot and people were aggressively looking for a parking spot my brand new Mercedes almost got hit twice. Every mother father Grandma and all the kids damn whole family was there people were parking at Costco and walking across the street so I decided to leave and come back when it calm down. I came back right before closing and wow I was really impressed! Store is beautiful. There's no other way to put it. All the employees have smiles on their face and we're super friendly. Store was well organized and clean. They have an excellent meat selection better than I've seen anywhere else. Produce was better than any other store around here it was fresh & beautiful they had stuff that I've never seen anywhere else. They had a tamale section and a taqueria that looks amazing. Loaded with staff eager to help you in their sections. Bring your money because not only can you get pretty much everything imaginable, it will cost you. Lets list off what greats you to the left side: Cooked Meats counter (house-made meats, even chicharrones) / Taqueria - everything you could want / premade tamales ( cheese n poblano, pork or beef in red sauce, chicken and green sauce ) / cake bakery, custom and premade cakes / tortillas factory / Agua Fresca bar / Pan Dulce assortments. Back of the store is a ceviche bar , full seafood market / meat market / Dairy items / finishing on the far wall with produce. All the normal aisle you would expect, easy to follow signs everywhere , helped me navigate the first day shopping mob. I was kind of just grabbing things and this was my cart: Small cup of ceviche, 2 small hoss avocado, 6 tamales, 1 stack of house tostadas, small stack of house flower tortillas $42 almost leveled me for so little amount of items. There's also a nice produce section with fresh-cut fruit, a bakery for sweet treats, and fresh tortillas being made daily. Don't miss the aguas frescas and fresh-squeezed juices either. For lunch, I ordered the Carnitas Plate ($10.99). It came with a generous portion of carnitas, whole beans (which lacked flavor), and Mexican rice. Overall, it's a good value for the price. The service is slow, but it's understandable because they get super busy. There's a small seating area with tables and chairs if you want to eat there. This Supermarket is just that, Super. It put super back into supermarket. The most amazing supermarket I have ever stepped foot in. It's like an amusement park filled with fun around every corner. Right when you walk in there is a fresh guacamole stand, then a kitchen with ready made hot food and food you can order. There is a drink stand with aqua fresca drinks etc. There is a bakery with an endless array of delicious tantalizing desserts and pastries to choose from. There is literally a small tortilla factory making a variety of fresh made tortillas. There is a tamale stand, ceviche stand and rotisserie and grilled chicken stand. There is a meat market, a vast produce section and even a candy shop. There is also a fresh fruit tray and parfait shop. All of that plus a complete super market stocked with a plethora of groceries to acquire. I was walking through this market like a kid in a candy store. So many options it's mind blowing, its breath taking, its amazing. Please go and explore. First thing your going to do is try and control yourself from not grabbing everything that looks tasty. Vallarta is so expensive for no reason. Never buy the meats they are really nasty and expire really quick, even the meat lady said so that to never buy the meats there because they are very gross. Manager is so lazy didn't want to give me my money back after I told him that the meats was expired. Never shopping here again so over priced it's ridiculous. read more

They have about everything here! We bought the carnitas family meal it came out to $29 and some change. It comes with 1 pounds of carnitas, rice, beans, flour tortilla and salsa. I was visiting my family in Salida and was hungry after holiday shopping. We stopped into this grocery store as we waited for our pizza. Omg! It was clean and inviting. We only made it to 1 section of the store and we were blown away by the variety of food options. We did get a pina agua Fresca that was delicious. As soon I enter to the supermarket, I feel a déjà vu, with all the colors, the smell of the food, the set up of the store with the people inside the store, employees and customers I feel like I was in Mexico. I was amazed for all signs inside the store , the food in the taqueria it was delicious, the aguas frescas too , the seafood all the different ceviches , I love that they offered you to try them so you can choose the right one for your family , but let me talk about the tortilleria !!!!! That take me back when my mom used to send me to get the tortillas , you can see the machine just right there . Finally came in after hearing all the buzz and seeing the revitalization of this shopping center, one of the many empty old save mart stores found all over Modesto. Awesome to see a family owned high scale Latino market here. There is nothing like this in the area, there are several Mexican stores but not one with the unique variety of Latin American specialty items. They have some very cool items including caffe de Olla in their make to order juice bar, fresh chips and tortillas made in store, full deli and Mexican restaurant, Mexican sweet bread and full variety of sweets in their bakery, a Mexican tamales station, a fresh guacamole and salsa station, and much more. Our haul included fresh made corn tortillas, yuca chips, pozole Ramen,toronja flavored Topo Chico sparkling water and then regular stuff like onions and salsa made fresh in store. Prizes vary and yes I am sure we can get many things found here cheaper at Costco but this place is a vibe. Colorful, bright displays, loud music, clean and staff everywhere organizing and buzzing around with a packed house. Parking is difficult here but why you complaining? It used to be empty except for the whole parking lot being used by in and out drive through, this is awesome a full parking lot!! Good for the other businesses here which I finally noticed thanks to Vallarta. I will try the carniceria and one of my favorite finds, thrifty ice cream!!! Whaaaat??? I know right? This place is awesome! They have a large variety of non Mexican items here so if you are Colombian a full section in the freezer area with papas criollas, empanadas, buñuelos, and other items. In the bakery area the flours and other spices for same items if you make from scratch, I was tempted to buy flour to make arepas since it was a huge bag and on sale but I already have enough, so next time. They had a large variety of Aguardiente in their liquor cabinet and also Colombian sodas along with Mexican and other varieties. Their traditional silverware and pots area had some real beautiful and nostalgic stuff that is found in most Mexican houses so not only where we having flash backs to our child hoods, I heard a couple of other customers having the same nostalgic impulse buying and asking the staff with a "you remember, mmenberr??". I had a wonderful experience here! I wondered in just curious and ended up walking out with so much. Thier fresh food in this market is FRESH! The taqueria is so yummy! I got chicken tacos with rice and beans, so good! I also bought so pan and tamales which were equally good! The staff is very helpful with questions and menu selections. The store was very well maintained and well staffed to help with customers. The selection is unmatched to other grocery stores and I was impressed by everything they sold. So being from Stockton we have a great deal of Mexican markets, restaurants and taco trucks. Also, there is the epic Rancho San Miguel Market that has been a staple for many people of Hispanic origin aka Mexican in the Lodi and Stockton area. I highly recommend this store. So what does that have to do with Vallarta? Let's just say I have a bit of envy in the color of chili Verde after my first Vallarta visit (the actual Puerto Vallarta is epic but that is another place another time!) I wish we had this store in Stockton. Amazing tortilla factory inside that specializes in making blue corn tortillas, are you kidding me! Home made tamales of many different varieties. Juice bar with the classic Jamaica (hibiscus) and horchata beverages with many other fresh fruit flavors. Prepared meats with Latin flair ready for the grill... Pastor, asada, carnitas, marinated chicken, roasted chicken, burritos combo plates... Oh and don't forget the freshly made sushi if you want a lighter lunch. Simply too much good stuff here and very high quality, freshly prepared foods, immaculately clean. I may have to drive the 60 mi round trip here from time to time folks. We had ordered a cake for a Quinceañera in Tracy, CA, and after picking it up for delivery, the cake unfortunately broke. Their meat department is phenomenal! Perfect cuts, nicely seasoned, good variety especially of steak and chicken which is what we use. It's nice to get something different from what I normally would get and they really make some wonderful things. I haven't gone in person to shop, but I have had it delivered through doordash, the prices are very fair I would like to go in there sometime, but it's a pretty big store and I think walking it would be a little tiring for me. I'm an Instacart shopper, and it can sometimes be really frustrating when the products are labeled in different languages and don't have pictures. Gabby was working the counter in the creamery section when I needed some ceviche from a different area behind the counter. Since I don't speak Spanish, I wasn't sure if that was what I needed. After helping her customers, she came over and asked if I needed assistance. I asked her what the product was, and she not only showed me but also grabbed it for me. I was so happy and surprised that she went above and beyond to help me. As an Instacart shopper, we don't see this kind of kindness every day. Thank you so much, Gabby! Presentation, they do well. Cleanliness seems good. Cashiers need training. Cashier and someone shadowing him or possibly she was a manager traning him decided to kindly debate the price of bags while also trying to sell me a small loaf of bread. Lol! So unprofessional. 15 cents per bag is a lot. I simply expressed my thought and didn't carry on with it but they both decided to defend their price and compare it to the bay area charging 25cents which is a lie. Im from the bay area. Im visiting Modesto. Bags are 10cents. But the person shadowing kept insisting she was right. Even after I told her im from the bay area, just visiting. She kept on. The cashier should've just let the customer say what they need especially when it was kindly said....not try and win a disagreement. Not very becoming of this new store. Learn customer service and professionalism!!!! I paid over $100 at this place to experience that petty crap. Will I come back? Not if they want to be petty and debate bag prices. Great Mexican market with a big selection of ready to go meals. They have good tortillas and their pan dulce selection is fantastic. The order process in the cake section is a bit of a hot mess. I am fluent in both Spanish and English and I had a hard time communicating with one of the ladies in the cake area. But I assume that it was because it's a new store that's extremely busy and people are still learning. The guacamole they make is fantastic! We got some chicharrones the ones that have little chunks of meat and they were phenomenal. They are have great chicken fajitas marinated chicken so you can go home and cook it your self. Wow! I found this GEM on a "field trip" to another location in Modesto. This store is amazing. Walking in immediately to your left is a sushi display, and guacamole is made fresh in front. Ahead, there is a taqueria and a fresca station that are good and can get busy. There is a full bakery, fresh tortillas and chips, an expansive meat department, fresh produce, and "La Fruteria" (fresh cut fruit). They stock all the popular brands and more. The spirits section in front is limited but the selection is impressive. This is 65 miles away from my house. It puts the grocers near my house to shame. I was big fan of this store when they first opened. The customer service was top notch. However now their service is lacking. Especially the MEAT DEPARTMENT! They will not give you what they have displayed, and of course they displayed the best meat. They will go in the back and give you the worst quality of meat. I was highly disappointed, I would of took the meat back if I didn't live 40 minutes away. Also their customer service is terrible, I waited 15 minutes to be help when no one else was being helped. There was about 6 employees there and no one offer to help. Big difference to when they first opened they were very attentive. When I was helped I was quickly told by another employee to move from where I was which was so rude since I'm a paying customer. Never ever coming back to this store. You're better off supporting other stores than this one. read more
