I like that you can customize everything here, from the amount of sugar in your drink, to the amount of ice in your drink. This is a great and welcome addition to downtown Silver Spring. I used to love this place. However, I tried to order a drink for pickup through Uber Eats on Tuesday afternoon, and when I got there they claimed they never got it, and then made me cancel the order and order it again. This was despite the fact that i showed them the order, which was at the right location, and UberEats was saying they got and were working on my order. Now UberEats won't refund it because Kung Fu tea was working on my order, so I got charged twice. I'm dubious about the claim that they didn't get the order, so I'm never going back here. read more

This Kung Fu Tea was in a mall in Silverspring that really has nothing else to note. I've been to a few Kung Fu Teas and they're good in a pinch but I feel like I'm always slightly unhappy as I'm surprised by some mystery ingredient. For example, the almond milk tea with bubbles is not almond milk but rather almond flavored syrup. Really took away from the experience and had I known, I would have gotten no syrup. read more

I've known of bubble tea for over 10 years now but never tried it after a family member said something off putting that withdrew whatever desire, if ever any, I had to try said bubble tea. After walking on my normal route to work, instead of stopping by and grabbing a venti-whatever, I decided to venture off and into Kung Fu Tea I stepped in. I order their coconut milk tea with bubbles and it was nothing shy of orgasmic. Seriously. I was seriously regretting my order as I waited because my overthinking flooded the gates of my thoughts. I honestly thought I was going to hate the bubble or have "air" get trapped (the off putting tidbit I heard once before) and milk tea just sounded like a foreign concept to me. So glad I was proven wrong, so glad I veered off and tried something new, and so beyond glad Kung Fu Tea exists! And if you're not ready to give it a try, at least step in and take one of their little mini-care menus. You would think that I was a brand ambassador of KFT or worked there with the amount of times I visit this place. Let's just say... I have a slight obsession with bubble tea. I like this place because of it's convenient location. You'll see it as soon as you enter the mall. Very small, but it's a cute little nook. Honestly, if you wanted to hang around, there are tables and chairs to sit at; and also games to play. Staff is friendly too. My first visit to a king fu tea though I'm a long time fan of bubble tea. I can't eat dairy. It sucks. I was hesitant to ask if any of the "milk" teas were dairy free. I was thrilled when the gent at the counter offered many, including their signature kf milk tea which I'm currently enjoying. He also explained what their "milk" was made of, reassuring for anyone with a food allergy or sensitivity. Yum! I'll def be a regular customer. read more

Really good tea. A large number of options with both straightforward and less traditional (for a Western clientele) flavors. Priced pretty fairly. For those who are lactose-intolerant or sensitive, the milk tea is made with dairy-free milk. Cons: I got herbal jelly with my tea, and it ended up taking up about a third of the cup. It made drinking the tea extremely difficult in the end. I'd recommend either making smaller jelly chunks that can go up the straw easily or putting less jelly in. read more

Okay came to DC to visit from LA so my rating is based off comparison to the boba tea you can get in LA (not other shops you might find in DC). I got the yogurt grapefruit with honey boba. Should've asked if they actually put any tea in there but you know grapefruit is the new trend and I always try grapefruit teas if they have them at these tea shops and they usually do. So the cashier told me that they use real grapefruit juice and I asked if it has pulp in it. When the drink came it had no pulp. The taste was actually overly sweet with the yogurt as well. And the juice/tea did not taste fresh. In fact it tasted more artificial. The boba was super small...sort've like the ones you buy at the Chinese market 99 ranch. They were also overly sticky, sticking almost to the teeth. They also charged me $0.25 more than the large upgrade on the jujubee my wife ordered (that drink wasn't so bad since it was unique but not too much my cup of tea - pun intended). Finally, cashier only told me after the fact that she swiped my card that you can get $4 off from downloading the app. Overall, compared to the LA tea shops like the major chains and boutique like T to Tea and Miss Cheese, this place really serves subpar boba tea. From the get-go he was friendly and engaging, talking to me about my selection of tea and even making a similar recommendation (Caramel Macchiato) based upon the taste. So they started with a strike against them for not having a Thai tea flavor (what the what?!?) but I was impressed overall with variety, flavor intensity, and customizability of the offerings at Kung Fu Tea. They let me try different kinds of additions before choosing because I had never had anything but the traditional black boba bubbles. Note to self: get the nata next time! I like Kung Fu Tea because there is so much you can customize! You can get a drink with classic options like green tea or non-traditional choices like Oreo milk tea. Most other bubble tea places just have the standard tapioca boba and, if you're lucky, rainbow jelly, but Kung Fu Tea offers more choices like pudding and red beans. So far, the drinks I've tried all taste great. You can even pick the amount of ice and sugar. I like how there is an option to have "Less Sugar" because I don't like things super sweet. I'm also glad that you can choose "Less Ice." When I get iced drinks from different places, the standard is to fill up most of the cup with ice, leaving only a little room for the drink, so I'm pretty much paying for water. I don't have this problem at Kung Fu Tea because I can just pick less ice. Specifically for this location... the employees are friendly and patient. Orders get made quickly, and the place is clean. There isn't a whole lot of seating. I only like about 3 stores in the Ellsworth Place mall and this Kung Fu Tea is one of them! In the area this week for business training and saw they had a Kung Fu Tea near by. Its located in the City Place Mall next to Ben and Jerry's. Staff is very friendly and knowledge about all the different drink. This location is very consistent with all the other Kung Fu Tea in the area. I used to only be able to get bubble tea near my work (Teaism has a great milk bubble tea, btw!) but thank goodness we now live close to this KFT! There's something for everyone here since you can customize it with less ice/sugar, bubbles vs. red bean, hot vs. cold with tons of flavors to choose from. I want them to come up with a stamp card or rewards program so when I eventually drink a billion teas, I'll get a pat on the back or something. Kung Fu Tea is excellent. I would spend all my money there. I love their basic bubble teas, as well as all of their punches, slushes, etc. Two things that really stand out to me - all their milk is lactose-free, which is excellent for me, because I'm lactose intolerant. Second, they have always been willing to split a medium into two separate cups so that my young kids can have their own bubble teas (and they have a kid-specific menu that identifies all the items that are caffeine-free. My kids are kind of obsessed with it. Also I love that you can customize the sugar and ice levels, and that bubbles aren't the only available add-in. Try the mango jelly or the aloe! Both are great. Also if you're up for an adventure, try the Longan Jujube! read more

My first time at this location. I came here with my colleagues, some of them never been to Kung Fu Tea and I told them how good it was. We were standing in front of the register and there were three employees, one of them fixing the register system and the other two was watching her fix it. None of the employees greeted us nor told us what was going on while we were just standing there and looking at them. After 5 minutes, we initiated and asked if we can order and they told us their system is down. The drink making machines were working so we asked if they can take our order and we can pay cash and they can just enter it in later, they told us "No". No apology, nothing. The customer service was just non existing and horrible. They didn't even greet us or apologize. Whoever the management is need to really give some training to their employees. This really makes me not want to come to this location ever. read more
