I'm a person who likes peanut butter but if you're not into it so much this may not be for you. The peanut butter is thick! I first tried Playa Bowls in Burtonsville, MD in March 2025 and loved it. I visited their College Park location speaking of America 250 on July 4, 2026. I combined this with a $2.50 individual cheese pizza deal at Ledo in honor of 250 that day only, which was a block away from here. Playa Bowls had a 250 bonus points promotion going on that 4th of July weekend. Staff at the College Park location was very friendly, at least on par with my experiences at Burtonsville. I always never know what I'm getting whenever I go. I remembered to look at their seasonal specialty bowls, but neither terribly appealed to me. I ended up going with Coco Berry bowl, which came with strawberries, blueberries, a yogurt base, coconut, banana, & blueberry flax granola. This was delicious! This was also unintentional, but the bowl I got happened to be red, white, & blue, so that was cool!

Fresh, fresh, fresh. They do curry chicken, curry goat, queso fresco, oxtail all in their lineup. An assortment of entrees too. The owners are four Jamaican guys who own both businesses. The lady behind the small kiosk peeled a fresh Mango and then used an instrument to slice the Mango into long twirly pieces. She added a little spice and salt (we agreed to the salt) to the Mango, then voila...a small healthy snack. In hindsight, I should've foregone the salt because the spices tasted like it had salt. I'd go again and you should try it next time you're walking around the mall with a little bit of hunger in that belly! -ODL Follow my IG: @AOEAT

It was cool watching them use a machine to make spirals out of the mango. They placed in different seasonings afterwards and put it in a cup for us. It was good but it would be better if the mango was a tad bit ripened for taste and texture. Ours was a bit on the tough side. And we should've said no salt, Bc it tasted too salty. Other than that, it was not bad.

My sister and I ordered matching Acai Bowls through GrubHub, but the experience left something to…read morebe desired. First, the delivery bag wasn't stapled or sealed, which made us feel uneasy. While there were napkins included, they were tossed at the bottom of the bag and difficult to retrieve. As for the food, the compact bowl made it hard to enjoy. The granola dominated the portion, with the acai base and frozen fruits (strawberries, blueberries, bananas) feeling secondary. I expected the toppings to highlight the acai, but instead, it felt like I had to dig for the base. The granola was salty and nutty but became jam-like when mixed, which disrupted the texture balance. The frozen fruit was refreshing, and the sweetness of the acai was nice, but I would've preferred more honey drizzle to bring everything together. A larger bowl would have helped with better mixing and allowed for a smoother eating experience. While the flavors were decent, the portioning and packaging need improvement, and the lack of food security during delivery was concerning. I can't comment on the ambience because we dine indoors as opposed to at the location. Customer service when we researched on the Grubhub app and we even made phone calls was adequate. My sister is vegan and she appreciates the options.

These are made with healthy plant proteins. Herbalife is the brand of the products here. It mostly makes protein shakes. These are made of the protein powder and water. They taste kind of sugary so maybe they aren't exactly healthy food but the tea is good though. I like the Incredible Hulk. It's about $6 for a large cup and it's very refreshing. They also have doughnuts so you can get the protein powder another way. It's about $3 for each. Prices are kind of high. The protein though is high quality so it makes it kind of okay. It seems like a good place for getting some healthier drinks. Picking up a healthier doughnut can also be done here. Introduction to another part of my in-town runner-ups from my alphabet series:…read more Finished my prior to 2018 to 2024 alphabet series, but before continuing onto my 2025 picks, I realized when choosing 2025 picks, I had more that were out of town on vacation than in town, and I wanted to support local places (even if they are chains in some cases) in central MD & DMV. For example, my original K pick representing 2018 was in Wilmington, DE. I didn't have a runner-up replacement for 2018 representing O, which was a restaurant in Lancaster, PA or V, one in Tempe, AZ. So, K is for Kung Fu Tea is the only business representing 2018 for the runner-up business. Kung Fu Tea experience: I first discovered Kung Fu, I think in the early part of 2018. From 2017 to 2020, I lived in Wheaton, so downtown Silver Spring wasn't far. I went to this location a few times in this time period. In summer 2018, I took 2 or 3 dates to this location after dinner or what have you. We drank our boba tea outside. This is a very small location with perhaps a couple of inside benches but mainly for to go. I guess if the weather was bad, you could hang in Ellsworth Place, the mall connected to the Kung Fu Tea. Boba tea is solid here, but there are some better places. In 2024, I was down here for an advanced movie screening at Regal Majestic, and I had a 20% off at Kung Fu Tea. The cashier couldn't figure out how to redeem the deal, so I walked out because the 20% off was the catalyst for going there in the first place. So, I wasn't impressed with the staff that day. I like some other locations better.
