Lemon wintermelon with basil seeds... I ask them to add some green tea to make it less sweet.
    Jo M.

Been a few times to this newer location. It is in the same spot as Poki DC. There's so much to choose from the menu. I don't think I'll ever get to everything. But I do like the winter melon with lemon and basil seeds! I should probably try more things! Really like that you can select the ice and sweetness levels on most of the drinks. Wish I could do that on the winter melon drink, but they try to accommodate and add more tea for me. They use the Clover app. Only reason I downloaded the app is to use it at Gong Cha! LOL

I loved their upstairs seating near the menu board. So cool! The drinks were black tea based, which are my favorite as SURPRISE Sijo Jun Fan Lee's INTENSE CONTROL team's visit to drinks Chinese with a worldly all Asian flair! The smart ones on this menu are the milk foam choices that glide down smooth. I chose Creme Brulee Strawberry Latte with strawberry pearl. Tasty treat on a hot day.

I try not to drink too many bubble tea, but can't resist from the their Strawberry Crème brûlée I usually order with zero sugar, since I'm sure it comes with a lot of "natural" sweet. Cheese topping is my favorite now, have to have it every single time What is your favorite of drinks at GongCha?

The drinks from this Gong Cha hit the mark and will satisfy your boba needs. However, I am only giving this joint 3 stars because there's no big Gong Cha sign outside (that you can see from the street/parking lot) to know this is where it is. I drove around a little confused at first because, where the heck is it? You have to kinda guess it's inside of Poki DC because that's the only sign on the building. Also, the girl serving me seemed kinda mad about something (maybe just has super RBF) but it kinda killed the boba mood. I'm happy this location popped up, but they could definitely improve.

Came to this Gong Cha and got a hot peach bubble tea. This Gong Cha is shared with a poke bowl place. The place is pretty big and seems like a nice place to hang out and work too. I came here on a Saturday and it was not too busy. There was a table of four that had ordered bubble tea before me so I did have to wait a bit longer than I expected. They had two people working behind the counter to cover the poke bowl place and bubble tea. No problems since it was not overly busy. The place is also a little hard to find. It is right next to the Not Your Average Joe's restaurant. I would come back here again and try some more bubble tea. I like the Gong Cha in Fulton better because the atmosphere is so cool, and my bubble tea was slightly better. I will try more Gong Cha's when I get a chance.

Cute, I think it just opened in the Poki DC, but when I went the boba quality seemed...old? Like overcooked. The Rockville one has a bit more consistency but like it's not a dealbreaker.

Empty store but took over twenty minutes to make one drink. The service is not good. The bubbles also tasted old and hard.

Tables not cleaned and most uneven and wonky. Just one sad front of house employee working that I saw just getting through the orders that are self order. This place has zero ambiance. I went to the bathroom and toilet tissue was nearly out and there was no way to even get anyone's attention to attend to that. Employee just kept their head down working. Food- drinks were great. My favorite is the watermelon coconut jelly. We had the pork chop pineapple bun. This is still a good sandwich. Tastes like they used to make it. Juicy pork chop, sweet pineapple bun. The construction of the sandwich leaves much to be desired because all the wet veggie ingredients slide the entire sandwich. Once you start eating, you should not put this sandwich down or it will come apart. They should put the sandwich in a sleeve. We ordered the fried chicken bento box. This bento has changed a bit from their previous version. With the new paper packaging, there are less compartments for goodies. The fried chicken recipe is different as all the batter fell off the chicken and was just a mess. There was close to zero pickles greens. With the dish which I feel brings this kind of bento together. Conclusion is food is decent, ambiance sucks. Would order to go from here but any fried food from here will be a disaster after you get it home. Had high hopes as I loved the previous location's food. Now being able to "look behind the curtain" and see how everything is made, I kind of feel question the cleanliness of this place.

The place is clean and smells great from the waffles I think. Not too many milk tea options but the boba and drinks are good so I'll let it slide. The boba lowkey took a while to prepare on the day we came tho. I'm not upset since we weren't in a rush but I was a little surprised. I'm not upset tho and it's my first time here so I can't say that always happens. My friends and I are convinced they used ai for the mural tho lol

Their drink menu has expanded too. There were so many choices. But, sad news, there is no more golden boba. Wahh! I loved their golden boba. : ( But, I do have to say their brown sugar boba is very good. Service was excellent. I was waited on right away and my drink was ready in a few minutes. The cafe keeps adding to their ambiance. New TV's, comfortable seating, and a foos ball table for those who want to play. It must be working, because the cafe is always crowded when I am there. You have to love a business that keeps improving and growing. Congratulations Ding Cafe on your newest menu items.

Rating may go up in future if I try other things; this rating is just for the yogurt "coco mango"…read moredrink I got yesterday, so I remember that I already tried it and it wasn't one I'd get again. I don't know if they don't have a strong enough blender or if it just wasn't blended long enough but my drink came out super icy. The balance was also off. A good yogurt drink is a religious experience, and though I could tell this used fresh ingredients, it just didn't come out 'right'. IYKYK. There used to be this place in College Park that had a GOAT mango yogurt drink but sadly they mowed down the whole plaza and I don't think the shop found another location. I'm in mourning. Ding Cafe has a lot of other stuff on the menu and apparently artisanal ice cream, which had I been hungrier I might have tried. Unfortunately, it shares a plaza with Mia Cane which has really really good Vietnamese Ice Coffee, so if I come back earlier in the day when caffeine isn't verbotten...it's going to be hard to convince myself to try Ding again since it's easier to find good boba tea around here than good Cafe Sua De (sp). I'll likely come back to try the ice cream and / or other caffeine free drink options though and hopefully I find one that works better for me.

Some seatings were comfy (the ones in the back) and the others was a bit hard. Most of the pastries are in the middle with sweet ones on one side and savoys on the other. The price was really reasonable. I saw so many savoy ones I would love to try if I ever visit at BF time. I saw they have Cronut (Croissant and Donut in one). I had had Cronut in Vegas (at the Paris Hotel), but the ones here looked a little different so I wanted to try. Mistake. It was extremely greasy. The oil soaked through the paper plate and I had to squeeze the pieces I cut with napkins to get as much oil out as possible. I would give it a 2 star, it would have been good if not so oily. The egg tarts on the other hand deserved a 5 star. Love it. The latte tasted fine, but it took them a while to make it (almost 10 mins) and served in the normal paper cup, I was hoping for a nice latte art since it took so long. Overall it is a wonderful place to sit around and enjoy some quiet time, just don't get the cronut unless they cut down on the oil...

The tofu steam bun -- easily my favorite lunch item in the area -- really didn't work. It's still an interesting experience but I really can't recommend a place I now avoid. --- PROS - Interesting selection, interesting food, lots of options, overall friendly staff. - Bathrooms were clean. The interior of the restaurant seemed like a good meeting/date spot. Although they had Wifi, I wouldn't call this a great place to come and study or get work done, although I saw people doing that. I've had the Vietnamese coffee twice, the first time was great, the second time was just okay. Food items are very unique, so much so I didn't like some of them but I still enjoyed the experience. Try something that sounds weird, it's half the fun of coming in here. CONS * Allergies - it wasn't clear what all everything was made with so if you're trying to avoid gluten or peanuts or eggs, I didn't see much on ingredients. I know for some people that's a red flag. * The tea. We just thought it was above average but not amazing. I mean its right in the name, come on. * Collecting items - you gotta look for the little trays and the salad tongs. That's what you use to grab stuff out of the cases. I know for most people that was super obvious but it wasn't for me. * Summertime note: during the hotter months I've noticed they seem to have some issues with keeping things cool.
