My friends and I came here because that infuriating acai maker machine in Whole Foods was broken. Again! We needed something to satisfy our sweet tooth. Once again, Kung Fu Tea smacked our craving down. We ordered three excluding a cup of simple coffee: - Coconut Milk Tea with Nata jelly - Honey Milk Green tea with almond milk as a substation - Taro Slush with Bubble Coconut Milk Tea was alright. Fun for the first time. Nata Jelly definitely had the lychee flavor, but it worked awkwardly with the coconut milk. Personally, I wouldn't go for the coconut milk options again. Honey Milk Green Tea stood above the previous. I could taste the honey, green tea and almond milk separately. My friend wanted the almond milk due to her lactose intolerance, but I thought it was an excellent match for his tea! It's a win. The true winner of the three was the Taro Slush with Bubbles. Bubbles were definitely better than many other places. Methinks they were coated with some honey, complementing the taro tea so well. I had to take a couple more sips to remember the taste. Kudos for this one! Also, just a suggestion: Taro Slush can do well with red beans. I think that will be the next drink to try once I have the opportunity. read more

Happened to walk by this place with a buddy of mine and since our work location is so close, we'll definitely be visiting this place more frequently. I was very surprised to see this here. I hope they are doing well. The boba is definitely on point. Not hard like a rock and soft/chewy enough. I ordered the wintermelon green tea with boba. The tea itself was quite watered down. The wintermelon flavor was okay. Still giving it a 4 stars based on the type of "dessert" given the location. Compared to other kung fu tea places I've been to, I felt their tea was lacking. Went for grand opening! Short line, 4 drinks get the bogo with boba extra. Parking was craaazy! They have closed sections of street parking and one garage was closed. Love the option of being able to order no sugar. Across from Chick-fil A. If you're in Ellsworth Mall, it's number 219 next to Ben and Jerrry's. You can enter from the street or from the mall. Upstairs from Michael's. Limited seating inside, but you can go down the escalators and sit in the nice open seating area that has a free playground. And recliner chairs. This is honestly my favorite bubble tea shop it just tastes si good. I recommend the oolong tea

I didn't plan on stopping by anywhere, but it was that awkward part of the day between lunch and dinner where I was getting hungry but not hungry enough to warrant something substantial. I had seen Kung Fu Tea earlier, and my friends had mentioned how they liked it, so I dropped by for a drink. As it turns out, it was the perfect thing to keep me satiated before dinner. I ordered a hot pumpkin oolong milk tea (a seasonal drink) with red beans thrown in. Not my best order, as the beans weren't really compatible with the drink, but that was my poor decision. The drink itself was excellent, albeit very sweet. I had asked for no sweetener, but the worker clarified that it was an unsweetened drink to begin with, so I assume the drink comes in a prepackaged syrup or flavor mix (what can I expect though, what with it being a seasonal drink and all...). In any case, I was fairly satisfied; the drink was made promptly and fresh, and when I accidentally dented the cap on my drink and asked for a new one, the worker handed one to me right away. The drink wasn't excruciatingly hot, but not lukewarm either; it was the perfect temperature where I could take a gulp without burning my mouth but would need to slow down as the heat stockpiled the more I sipped (does that make sense?) I would recommend this drink to someone with a sweet tooth, but with the boba instead. That said, I prefer a slightly lighter drink, but I should've known better than to order one of the most basic choices on the menu. Nothing negative about the service though; if anything, I would like to see more descriptions on the menu of the flavor composition of the drinks (whether they are sweetened, or if additional sweetener can be added or left out, etc.). Also, hot drinks can only be ordered as a large drink, though I would have been satisfied with a medium. read more

I had a horrible experience at Kong Fu Tea today. I ordered Cocoa wow cream and got just milk with bubbles with no milk cap. When I asked if they messed up my order, the girl said I had to specifically ask for milk cap in the cocoa wow cream, and immediately rejected my request to add the milk cap. She insisted that if I need the milk cap, I would need to spend extra 1 dollar. However, I had ordered Cocoa Wow Cream 20+ times, never ever had I ever asked for milk cap because that's what comes with it automatically. The milk cap is LITERALLY IN THE INGREDIENTS of COCOA WOW CREAM!!!!!! So I paid 6+ dollars on a cup of milk with some bubbles in it- I mean, I can get two gallons of milk and one big bag of raw bubbles with that money. So be careful about this place! You might be a pro in bubble tea, the person who serves you knows nothing about it yet has the worst attitude towards their customers! read more

I didn't like it and I'm so upset because I've been wanting to try bubble tea for about 5 months. I don't use sugar but I do use Splenda. So I asked how I can get the tea with a minimum amount of sugar. They guy explained that I can pick my sugar level and I did the least amount. It was still to much sugar for me. And those big black balls were sooooooo nasty. I honestly ended up spitting them out in the trash can. I've ordered more boba than usual these last few months. I'm very picky about my boba, but Kung Fu Tea knows what they're doing. I usually order through GrubHub, and most of my orders have been perfect. Apart from ordering a flavor I didn't like, I haven't had any issues. This is your standard Kung Fu Tea, if you've ever been. I'm loyal to my "lychee punch, light ice, with aloe jelly." I do not really like their taro milk flavor because there's something about the powder they use. The place is clean although sometimes the tables can be sticky. The staff are usually friendly. There are also board games available for you and your friends to play if you decide to hang around for a while. Nothing remarkable about this location. read more

Not KungFu teas best location. My other encounters at kungfu locations have had great customer service, and the tea is uniformed in taste and quality (as it is a franchise). At the silver spring location I ordered a usual almond black tea, but the tea tasted very sweet (similar to an almond milk tea, easily confusing). I asked about it and was reprimanded for questioning the possibility that the tea could have been made wrong. After standing around looking sad for 5 minute the barista offered to make me something new. I ordered three teas, all three were not shaken (due to faulty equipment), and the lids were not sized right, which led to two of them spilling a ridiculous amount while holding them. The store was small and chaotic. The employees seemed to be more in a rush to move you along than helping you with your order. Not the usual kung fu experience I'm used to. I recently went to the Wisconsin ave location. On a hot day, twice the volume and twice the quality service. **update: management reached out immediately to access any staff related issues. My new love for milk tea led me to Kung Fu Tea on the way into DC one busy Sunday. When I found out it was inside Ellsworth Place Shopping Center in Downtown Silver Spring, I almost didn't go. But it is on the bottom floor in between Blue Pearl and the Forever 21 mall entrance on the corner of Fenton St. and Ellsworth Dr. A very convenient location if you had no intent of actually visiting a mall. Even better if someone else is driving and you can hop out at the light right in front. Logistics aside, i was in and out of Kung Fu Tea quickly. They have a ton of tea types: milk teas, fruity teas they call punch, milk slush, milk cap, etc. and a good amount of flavors as well: taro, almond, lychee, mango, matcha, and the list is endless. I like that you can customize the amount of ice in your drink and how sweet you want it. My taro milk tea with less ice was delicious and I should have gotten the slush so that I wasn't done with it in 28 seconds. The boyfriend ordered the almond milk tea with mango jelly - something I didn't see on the menu, but the kind folks behind the counter made happen for me. Kung Fu Tea has been open for about a year now, but I finally got a chance to stop by this week. I was there on a Tuesday around 5. The shop was very clean, and not at all crowded. The staff were friendly (and didn't rush the people who were still trying to figure out what what they wanted). It's a relatively small shop. They don't really have a ton of seating, so if you are there during a crowded time, you may get your tea and keep walking. I was impressed with all the customization options (different teas, milks, slushes, flavors, sugar levels, etc). Ultimately I had the oolong milk tea with bubbles. It was good! Not too sweet. They don't have too many options for smoothies but do have a lot of great classic favorites of mine like Taro, Red Bean and Almond flavors. Yet another boba place I find out about days before I leave the DMV! Great bubble tea shop in Ellsworth Place in Silver Spring. They have a variety of flavors of milk tea, iced tea (punch), specials like slushies and "milk caps," plus more with the option to choose the level of sweetness and ice, plus toppings. We waited less than 5 minutes for six drinks to come out, and everyone enjoyed their flavor. I got the kung fu tea (basically a regular milk tea), taro milk tea, and a pina colada. I didn't get tapioca in my drink, but my relatives said it was chewy with just enough "bite." I would come back here for bubble tea or check out the Georgetown location if I needed my fix. read more

Very tiny Kung Fu tea, with very limited seating. Although not just a stand like the one in Tysons but definitely not as large as the one in Rockville. Somewhere in between. Maybe 6-8 seats (including bar seats total). You can find a place to sit in the mall probably, but it is more of an order and go type of place. Not for long hangouts. The layout is like a quick mall smoothie shop. The store is situated on the first floor corner inside the mall that is across the street from Chick Fila. In fact the windows face Chick Fila. Pretty use to grab and go considering it is right next to the entrance doors. I tried their almond milk bubble tea $4.50 as usual and you cannot adjust sweetness to that since it is all powder. Believe I've tried to get them to dilute the powder, but all the KF teas in this area has told me they are unable to make it less sweet. I have now determined I am no longer a fan of almond milk bubble tea at KF Tea because it is simply too sweet and they have no way of adjusting the sweetness. It is more of a dessert than a light beverage. If you're looking for a great almond milk bbt, I still suggest Bubble tea Cafe in Rockville. As for KF Tea, stick to their regular teas such as green, oolong, and black and you won't be disappointed! Even the taro milk green tea bubbles tea is great!! Make sure to get bubbles for 50 cents, and since the bubbles are very sweetened, go with the no sweet option for a healthy choice. read more

I find Kung Fu teas too sweet, even at half sugar. So if you aren't a sugar fiend, you're safer starting at 50% sugar. Since most drinks are cold, I like to get no ice. But if you like your drinks super iced, start at 75% ice or below. Sweetness isn't adjustable for some drinks. STAFF&SPACE// Staff were okay. Not overly friendly and nice but not rude. This place is really cute. It's a inside the mall area across from Ben and jerry's. It's a small shop. Don't come here wanting to sit down with a ton of friends. But if you were like me and was by yourself just wanting a cozy place to read it was okay. The best part is that they have a ton Of options and there bobbas aren't over done (trust, overdone Bobba has you chewing it forever) . But to my knowledge they only have one type of Bobba which isn't my favorite thing. They also get your order done fast, which I appreciate. Visited Kung Fu Tea for the first time over the weekend while in the DMV area. I've heard many great things but never had the chance to give it a try. I walked in with high hopes of ordering my go-to Bubba tea order (Thai Bubba Tea); to my surprise this was not an option on their menu -- Which left me extremely disappointed. The girls behind the counter were extremely helpful in helping me find an alternative that will also satisfy my craving. I ended up going for Taro Milk Tea. This place is ideal for a nice and refreshing (and super reasonable) bubble tea! The service was great and super fast. She was also nice and helped people who had never been there before (which made the place way more welcoming). The area is real nice and clean too. I personally don't like a lot of stuff with milk in it and there were plenty of options. Definitely recommend the Strawberry Lemon green tea. So yes, it's bubble tea but there's definitely plenty of other options! Didn't love their bubble tea at all. I was actually a bit disappointed since I love bubble tea so much. The one I had was way too sweet and the color of the drink was a bit off, further more this was supposed to be a cold tea and it was lucwarm so that in of itself was an unpleasant surprise.
