I am a big fan of dolcezza sold in the grocery stores. I am an even bigger fan of the storefronts with the fresh gelato. I got to try flavors that they don't sell in grocery stores and it tasted so fresh. I tried the black and white cookie and Vietnamese cinnamon flavors. I went with the Vietnamese cinnamon in an affogato. Not only was the gelato fresh and delicious, but the espresso was smooth and paired so well with the gelato. I don't think I've ever had a better affogato. I highly recommend stopping in for a treat if you happen by one of the store fronts! read more

I came to Dolcezza after having dinner at Hawkers next door, and the space is absolutely adorable, with super friendly workers encouraging me to sample different flavors and sharing their personal favorites. I ended up going with the Marscapone & Berries in a cone, and my LORD was that incredible! The gelato was delicious and rich, and the berry sauce swirled throughout gave it a nice extra kick of sweetness every few bites. The portion was surprisingly big, but of course I finished it all because it would seriously be a sin to leave any behind. They do have a lot of options for gelato and iced/hot coffee options, they also have matcha. I got the small size which comes with 2 scoops, I chose the coffee and cookies and the hazelnut crackle, which was a really good choice. It was not the BEST gelato I've ever had, which my favorite spot the gelato is very creamy, but Dolcezza is a great alternative, I would go again. It was nice to walk around Besthesda Row with a few of my friends this past Friday evening and exploring the MD area more. While walking around, we saw Dolcezza and suddenly everyone was craving gelato. There was a decently long line given the nice warm weather. SMALL GELATO - 6.05 You can get up to two flavors but I was wowed by the "Mascarpone & Berries" flavor that I got only that. I'm not usually a gelato fan but this one was great! I liked the mascarpone base and the berry chunks/filling gave it a nice tart twist. It was also not too sweet and the perfect dessert for me. There was a lot of seating outside of Dolcezza where my friends were able to sit, talk, and enjoy our gelato. Overall, I'd recommend Dolcezza for a delicious gelato. $6.05 for a small scoop is a tad expensive, but nowadays, everything is just ridiculous. read more

Amidst the varied stores and restaurants, Dolcezza offered 13 creamy and decadent gelato flavors. Unfortunately the flavors were hidden behind metal lids but we were able to sample any that appealed to us. The storefront was quite small and having the employees squished at the entrance around the selection made the experience cramped and slow. The small option granted us two flavors in which I found to be reasonably price and sized. However, the gelato melted quite fast so I wished the cup was a bit larger to hold the contents better. =ORDERED= There were notably more "creamy" options than fruity ones. *Tramontana: incorporated dulce de leche and chocolate candies into a vanilla base. On the sweeter side but I loved how indulgent the combination was. The chocolate balls gave a pleasant crunch while the dulce de leche was smooth and rich. *Roasted Strawberry: not quite roasted but rather jam-like. Not as vibrant as traditional strawberry. Would have enjoyed some actual fruit in the gelato to give it some sourness. *Pistachio Siciliano: one of the best pistachio renditions I've had. Nutty without any graininess. Wasn't overly sweet and would pair well with any flavor. *Mascarpone & Berries: described as almost a berry cheesecake. Personally I found this to be a lighter version of that dessert without the bite. Rather mild in flavor and wasn't as memorable. Dolcezza had some of the creamiest gelato I've ever had and I would highly recommend them for anyone who enjoys vanilla, nuts, or caramel. While their fruit gelato was also tasty, the brightness and tartness took a backseat to the cream base. I hope to see fruit to play a more prominent role in their gelato to offer a lighter alternative to customers. read more

Good gelato. Surprised they had ube flavored gelato. I've been on a vanilla and ube kick lately, so those were the flavors I ordered. The service was good and the server allowed us to sample many flavors. There were chewy bits inside the vanilla that I could not make out. Portions are big. We got two large since the large is only $1 more than the regular/small. My fiancée enjoyed the chocolate hazelnut the most. I couldn't finish mine. I think I got sick of the ube flavored gelato. The space is long but not very wide, so it felt extremely cramped when more customers came in. The tables and bar stools were clean. The bathroom was decently clean and they offer paper towels, which is a plus. It was a convenient dessert place since it was right across from Hawkers (where we went for dinner). read more

WOW. I'll start by saying I love ice cream and frozen desserts (custard, fro yo, etc), and eat it so often that I feel pretty strongly about whether or not the dessert is "good." For dessert tonight I opted to try this place instead of the more mainstream Jeni's down the street, in an effort to support local businesses and try something new. I was incredibly impressed by the wide variety of flavors, both classic and unique. The gelato was heavenly, with kind staff and no wait. It is a total hole in the wall, mom and pop- type store.
