I've walked past Fantasticks on several occasions, and I decided to stop by after getting my drink on at another spot in Downtown Silver Spring. Hey, YOLO. Fantasticks pretty much is a gelato and "gelato pop" shop. The shop has decent selection of pops; I counted about 8-10 varieties during our visit. The concept is pretty cool and easy - you pick your pop base, a dip, a drizzle, and some toppings. One can come up with some very interesting and (hopefully) delicious combinations. I went with a raspberry cheesecake pop with a chocolate hazelnut dip and strawberry (I think) drizzle. I thought the pop was just ok because I'm more used to creamy rather than icy gelato. However, I understand for this to work that the gelato has to be a bit icy so it can maintain the popsicle shape. So, I will not hold the icy texture against the gelato shop. If you are not interested in the gelato pops, the shop has about 12 gelato options. Oh, they even have a few vegan options too. Two gelato pops with the dip and drizzle was about 14 bucks without a tip. The service was pretty good because the two young ladies were very patient with us and explained the process very while. Although I was not a huge fan of the gelato pop, I will return to try some of the regular gelato flavors. read more

Popsicles, ice cream, and gelato! What more to ask for!?? Fantasticks is a new addition to the Silver Spring Town Center area. You can't miss the store with its bright signage, open concept, and cool inside vibe you can see from the street. Fatasticks offers great homemade gelato of many flavors and some of the most eye-appealing popsicles i've ever seen in a quasi-ice cream shop. I stopped by yesterday and was blown away by all of the great flavors and offerings. I tried a Strawberry popsicle and a Double Chocolate, Brownie gelato that was amazing. The flavors were all there, and the profile of the gelato was one of the most I first noticed. It was smooth, creamy and had no lumps or icicles. And it was so good!! I think I may have noticed at least over 25+ flavors of gelato in the store and wanted to try them all. They offer samples....but please don't go ham...trying to try them all in one visit.....because I almost did. lol. The price point and the popsicle offerings were great. The only star deductions of this new store location was the customer service. The customer service was average to borderline nonexistent. There were two employees there and as I walked in the door, and I noticed others walking in the door, no one was greeted nor did anyone behind the counter offer to explain the store concept our offerings. The two employees just stood there looking docile and unbothered, with no interest in wanting to eagerly help folks. This kind of observation and expectation definitely soured my first experience, but definitely not the taste of the product. *Note to the manager and owner: please train your employees on proper customer service and etiquette. It goes a long way and making an oppression on the customer, increasing return visits and more importantly your sales! The products and offerings here on the other hand are amazing. I recommend this store as a must try, but don't expect much on a customer service as I hope it will improve over time. The store has plenty of inside seating and it's bright and very clean. There is a seating area outside as well. It would make the perfect spot for the warmer months to sit outside and enjoy some good gelato and chill, people-watch. In all, I'm sold.....at least on their goods....not so much on the customer service for now. Can't wait to go back tho' and try some of the other offerings! read more

Ice cream we all scream for ice cream. You guys remember that saying; okay, am I showing my age. Nevertheless, there were many decisions to make while there. I didn't know whether I wanted gelato in a cup/cone or the pops. The pops won me over this time. So, I decided to come back for the gelato with a multiple toppings to choose from. The store was bright and inviting from the outside and once you walked in it sucks you into wanting everything in there The staff were nice and genuinely patient. I came to see a movie and as you may know you have to pay in advance to park so when I got out of the movie and I still had 20 minutes left, I wasn't gonna let the county have it without a fight...or gelato. I should say. I've been to fantastic and Gaithersburg so I knew exactly what I wanted. I started with the rose gelato along with three toppings. I feel this new location does not have nearly as many topping choices as Rio. I got the strawberry dip and also a strawberry drizzle. Not very imaginative, but I only had 20 minutes left on my parking so I had to make a quick decision. It was delicious and hit the spot after sitting through the movie. I finished it in the car on my 1.5 mile drive home. Yes, I will be back, but on a Sunday when parking is totally free. Four stars for not having as many toppings as the Rio location and for pushing the tip jar towards me. (I only had my credit card and I did tip $1.00.) read more

Great addition to Downtown Silver Spring. Used to be the site of a Starbucks and now has amazing gelato pops.

This is such a cute gelato shop where you can choose between regular gelato or a stick version and various toppings. The flavors were a bit limited when I visited on Sunday afternoon but I ended up getting the pistachio and tiramisu. The pistachio was nice but the flavor was not that strong, I preferred the tiramisu for the bolder coffee flavor. You can choose up to three topping and a drizzle or a dip. They have lots of topping to choose from, so it's easy to customize. read more

Let me start this post by talking about the location! The gps takes you right next to Ben and Jerry's but it's further up the street. Across from the h&m but right beside the potbelly's sandwich shop. I came to this location because we were told about the recently opened fantasticks from the team member Bella at the Gaithersburg location. She said the location was huge (she didn't lie about that, but I am going to be honest I prefer the Gaithersburg location - it's easier to get to). I bought my husband along because I wanted him to taste this yummy dessert. He got the strawberry cheesecake ice cream which he devoured and thoroughly enjoyed. The interior design from the brand color palette is alike. Boho chic and just bubbly and welcoming. The surge of options is overwhelming but the team members are always happy to offer a suggestion to help with that. I got the popsicle that is just so good to not get (banana filled with Nutella, dipped in caramel biscoff and drizzle with chocolate). If I knew it wasn't going to melt quick I'd get a second option to try lol. The location is in a prime location and definitely worth giving it a try. I've tried the Gaithersburg, silver spring, and Arlington locations all this week and my best experience was at Gaithersburg. I would say for this location the freezer where the popsicles are is either being opened too much which is a good/bad problem, the door is being left open unaware, or the freezer is unbalance. The chocolate bars were melting and icy chocolate is not a pleasant taste at least not for me. read more

A nice addition to the walking mall in downtown Silver Spring, especially for the summer months. They offer artisanal popsicles (gelato on a stick, or vegan and yogurt based options are available). I had the avocado banana popsicle with graham cracker and shaved coconut, dipped in caramel, with a strawberry drizzle. It was excellent. They had some other tempting flavors, including mango, lime, and mint chocolate chip. The interior is bright and clean, they have some seating, and the staff was friendly and took time to explain the ordering process. In addition to popsicles, they had about 8 gelato flavors on offer. read more

Fantasticks is very fun and cute. They don't have traditional gelato flavors but I really liked their offerings. On my first visit, I had mint chip, and normally I'd never go for a green mint chip, but this was really good. On a subsequent visit, I had another flavor I really liked (maybe a coffee). I really love the concept of this restaurant. It looks very trendy inside and I love the pink and gold decor. It is a great place to bring children because of all the different flavors and toppings you can add to your popsicle. I ordered the mango popsicle. I didn't think the flavor was as fruity as I would've liked, but nevertheless I loved adding the toppings to it. read more

Cute gelato shop with both vegan and regular flavors! You can get the gelato in a cup or as a popsicle stick, which is a unique option. I got the tiramisu and Dubai chocolate gelato in a cup. The tiramisu had a bold sweet flavor but the Dubai chocolate gelato was tasty too! I liked that there was an option to get a drizzle to top off the gelato. Great service and nice ambiance! read more

Quick, casual and tasty! My favorites are the vegan dark chocolate, vegan strawberry, and vegan raspberry. I really appreciate the dairy-free options so I can go with friends, which isn't always the case with regular ice cream places! It was a very cute and aesthetic restaurant. The concept was really cute and all of the gelato looked really good. All of the employees were nice, helpful and they worked quickly. My family got the banana Nutella, mango, and mint chocolate chip bars and they said that they were good and not too sweet. But I gave only three stars because the hot chocolate was too thick and way too sweet. And the pistachio bar that I had gotten tasted really artificial and was also really sweet. Overall though, depending on the flavor you get, I would recommend trying this out. read more
