Ordered pick up and received it quickly. There were more people than I expected so I had to wait a bit to get my order. The staff was kind but only informed me about being unable to change the sugar level of a drink after the drink was made and I had arrived. I wish they called to inform me before making it so I could've asked my friend if she still wanted it or if she wanted to change it to a drink that does allow for sugar adjustments. KFT should also update the app to let people know which drinks don't allow sugar adjustments rather than making every drink have a sugar adjustment option even though some do not allow it. I love their original KF milk tea with bubbles but wanted to try a new flavor as I haven't been visiting much. I tried the Rosehip milk tea and it did not taste like rose. I was expecting it to taste like rose milk tea, but it tasted like strawberry. I was disappointed, I personally don't like strawberry milk tea and felt that it was false advertising name it rosehip when it was strawberry. I used to love it here because their bubbles are chewy and the right amount of sweet. Now is always not enough sugar for drinks and no sugar coated with the bubbles. Very disappointed. They add so much water to your drink it's not even funny so I been getting their peachade yogurt with 30% sugar and less ice and always had it tasting the same. I live in the neighborhood and always stop by Kung fu tea for a drink. It's usually very busy but they do a great job of preparing the drinks quickly. My favorites are the Kung fu tea, taro, and the new addition of Thai tea. If you don't like very sweet drinks, makes sure to tell them to add less sugar as they typically add a lot. I ordered on the app for the first time because it's 95 degrees out and no one wants to stand on line for that long. On the app I ordered two drinks with the option to choose -ice option. One passionfruit green tea and Milk Green tea both with room temp ice. Of course I wanted an iced cold drink with regular ice so here I thought their app option for ice says "room temperature" meaning regular ice. There was only 4 choices- no ice, less ice, room temp and more ice. HOW DID I GET A HOT DRINk?!?! I went to ask if I can change it to cold they said no and that it was my fault for choosing the ice option. ?????!!. Seriously. Service is horrendous! It was a lot better a few years ago. The workers have NO knowledge about how the kung fu tea app works nor promotions. Well in this case, it must've been a FRAUDULENT PROMOTION. Tried to claim the free drink as a new app user. The workers said to buy the drink first then it would deduct on its own. So bought the drink and they said it charged the credit card. Asked about the deduction and they said there's none. I visited this place often when I was younger. I stopped by today and they had redone the layout. There's more space for customers to stand while waiting for a drink. I got the pudding milk tea with half sugar and half ice. My total was $3.81 since the pudding is a $.50 up charge. While waiting for the drink I noticed the front area hadn't been cleaned in a while. The drink was okay. The milk tasted different than what I was used to. There was a really big portion of pudding which I cannot complain about. I probably won't come back for another drink though. This 1 star review isn't for the drinks itself because Kung Fu Tea taste absolutely delicious but its for the service I received walking in here. It was absolutely disgusting, leaving me in utter disbelief. The last time I walked in here was when they first opened a couple years ago and at that time the store was much nicer. I believe they had a larger counter and you can see them making your drinks right in front of you. Now.. The counter is squished all the way in the corner of the room, completely blocking off what is going on in the back when they're making your drinks.. They can literally do whatever they want back there. The other corner for a huge useless garbage can and another corner for merch. Like no one will buy your merch COME ON. The girl that took my order was very condescending. If someone orders the wrong thing maybe it is your JOB to help them and not CORRECT them like they're some stupid idiot. Kung Fu Tea is one of the more popular bubble tea stores in 8 Av. The service is pretty quick unless it gets very busy. The store itself is not very big, personally I just get my drinks and go. My previous favorite was the Kung Fu Milk Tea with nata jelly. I got so sick of the milky taste and it became to too sweet for me. My new favorite became the Kung Fu Milk green tea with herbal jelly. The herbal jelly waters down the sweetness even more. I normally do not get bubbles because sweeten. In Brooklyn it is around $2.75 a medium(small) cup & $3.50 a large cup and in Chinatown it cost a dollar more! read more

Very rude lady working in the back. I was a loyal customer coming almost every day. Today I clicked hot drink by mistake instead of a large size. On the app they are very close to each other. I got to the store within 2 minutes after ordering. The woman with an attitude refused right away to change it even when I nicely asked and stated I come every day. She said with an attitude " I will not be changing it for you every day and I don't even recognize your name". There are right ways to approach it and the there are wrong ways. Any other coffee or tea shop would gladly change it for you especially for a one time mistake. I always purchase my bubble tea drinks at this location, but the past 2 times I went, I found a medium size piece of plastic in my drink. (Both times, the plastic looked exactly the same) The first time, the man I spoke to on the phone apologized on their behalf and was sincere about it and told me to come get a free drink of my choice. Today, I found another piece of plastic in my drink and the man I was on the phone with was extremely rude! I explained to him the situation and he responded, "Okay and? It's weird how it only happens to you, but not to any of our customers." I told him that this piece of plastic could've been swallowed, which could've caused serious health issues. He then said "I'm sorry" and left me on pause for a while. I said "Okay, I understand but what will you do about this?" He then again stayed silent on the phone. So I said, "The man last time gave us a free drink, is that your offer to us? Or should the health department be involved in this?" He said "I don't care because I am not the owner of this place, I'm just a worker." So I proceeded to say, "Right, you may not care, but working in the food industry, your customers are expressing their concerns, shouldn't you be considerate and empathetic enough to do something about it?" It took him about 10 minutes within the phone call to finally give in and say "I mean if you WANT, you can come here and get a new drink." I have never dealt with such poor customer service from this store. I know this does not depict the whole store, but this worker clearly and surely does not care about his customers wellbeing. I went back to the store and spoke to the lady at the cashier about what went on over the phone, she was very polite and apologized multiple times, but the man who I spoke to on the phone, was there as well and was just very rude. He looked at me and gave me an attitude when I showed him the piece of plastic I had in a ziplock bag as proof. I got SCAMMED into buying a drink and downloading an app. I ordered a bubble tea on April 30th for the 30th anniversary of Kung Fu Tea. I was told to order the drink and pay for it first with the Kung Fu Tea app, then it would be deducted so that it would be free of charge. After making my purchase I asked the cashier to verify if the price would be deducted. The cashier said it would charge my credit card and will not be deducted and the event was a buy one get one free. I then asked for a refund, but was told it was not refund refundable. I asked if I could be given another drink since I already played for one to make it buy one get one free. This time the cashier told me that I would have to make another purchase.  I would have never bothered going out of my way to stand on a long line to order a drink if I knew I would have been SCAMMED. I don't usually like to give a bubble tea place 2 stars because I don't expect much but today's visit to KFT really ruined my night. I walked in around 9:15 PM (they close at 10:00 PM) with no customers thinking yay they'll get my order quick. All three employees were talking FOR A FULL 2 MINUTES. Not sure if they didn't realize I was there or not but I had to go "excuse me, are you open?" And the girl said "oh yes. " then she took my order. I asked for a milk green tea and she said they ran out of green tea so I settled for a milk tea instead. I asked for 25% sugar and she replied with an attitude "30% only." Fine. My drink came out to be $3.50 (as expected since I go here often) and I gave her $4.00 - she gave me my receipt WITH NO CHANGE. She went back to cleaning while a guy was making the drink for me and I'm really debating if I should ask for it back. I'm in no way cheap about 50 cents but least give me back my money so I can put it in the tip jar instead. I find this to be super rude!!! I ended up not asking for it because the guy who made my drink made it real quick so I appreciated that. I know this is a bubble tea place on 8th Ave so reviews might not matter as much but just wanted to let everyone know about my story. I have been to many Kung fu tea chains before. It is one of the known chain for bubble tea. Like many of the bubble tea places, they offer the option to customize the sugar level. Their Bubble tea at regular sugar is on the sweeter side. I stopped by this locations a couple of times. It is small and there is usually a a lot of traffic in here. I found on yelp that they have a limited edition drink called bluebell vineyard so I decided to give t a try. I agree with Jenny T. It looks cool but definitely not worth $7. It is like a regular large drink with crushed ice in a voss bottle. The blue is the tea, red is strawberry and the orange is mango. You definitely need to shake it and mix it before drinking it. This drink is very sweet and it taste like concentrated syrup after the ice melts. I had to add in water to dilute it. I wanted to try it so I spent the money for it but I would not get it again. read more

Kungfu tea is like the starbucks of bubble tea: mediocre drinks marketed for suckers. First of all, why do they make them so sweet? I ask for half sugar, and it's still too sweet for me. In fact, the bubbles are super sweet themselves. Speaking of the bubbles...50 cents extra for bubbles? Really?? There are places that sell bubble tea BOGO or 2 for $3 and they're charging you extra for bubbles. Despite the fact that most bubble teas are disgusting (especially TBarr. I HATE TBARR, I wouldn't drink something from there even if it's free, but that's a different rant.) So many bubble tea places on 8th avenue, you just don't know which one to go to, but this particular one always have customers and lines can be quite long on a hot sunny day. I am not a huge fan of sugary drinks, but when I do come here the only drink I usually get is a hot honey green tea, especially when I find myself having a sore throat. I sometimes get milk tea with herbal jelly with less sugar and it's not bad. Don't know if they are remodeling or redecorating the inside, but it's so plain. No decoration on the wall, just plain white walls. Don't find anything special about this bubble tea joint. The staff are friendly, but there were times where I came here and they are always chit chatting among themselves and forget to notice the customers walking in and needing to place an order. I ordered a hot green tea, was suprised they place it in a regular cold drinks plastic container, and it wasn't close to hot but luke warm. I have to say the green tea is much stronger than the tea i've had elsewhere! definitely a good morning kick, it would've been much better if it's serving hot! i also like the fact that they don't automatically add tapioca in their drinks unless you request for it. it's a nice and clean space with few bar seats if you would like to sip immediately.
