Returns are a joke here! I won't be back anytime soon! This place has horrible customer service, and you should stay away!

In all cases, I found them knowledgeable, dedicated and ultimately highly effective. The first time I walked in needing help was last spring. An outdoor faucet had begun to leak. I shut off the water supply and took out the handle hoping to replace just the washer. In trying to remove the washer, I managed to strip the soft brass center screw making it impossible to proceed. I went to a big box home store a purchased a replacement faucet. Overkill when all that was needed was a washer but I didn't think I had a choice. As it happened, the replacement didn't fit. I returned it and did what I should have done in the first place, took the faucet core to Jerry's. An experienced hand took a look and within minutes had extracted the stripped screw, found the proper washer replacement and installed it with a new screw. Total cost was $1.29. No charge for his time. I went home, reattached the handle and voila! No leak. The second trip involved the handle on my front door. After twenty years of reliable service, an internal part had broken off and was lodged inside as to make it impossible to unlock. I took the latch core out and saw the issue. Once again, I bought a replacement handle at the same big box home store only to realize once I got home that the new key wouldn't match the dead bolt. You'd think by now I would have learned my lesson and avoided the trip to Home Behemoth but no, I'm apparently a slow learner. I returned the door handle and took the broken mechanism to Jerry's. Another hardware veteran quickly located just exactly the replacement part needed that, when installed would mean I could continue to use the same key. Back home, I followed the steps that the fellow at Jerry's had patiently reviewed with me and, success! Finally, I needed a Cotter Pin (spring type). Yep, first went to Home Behemoth. Doh! First two people pointed vaguely toward hardware. Third person produced a box of Cotter Pins when I only needed one. Back to Jerry's. I was asked where will it be used (inside or outside), what type I needed (traditional, spring type, hammer lock, etc.), and the size. Based on my answers he pulled out a bin, extracted a single pin that perfectly met my requirements and I walked out only $1.79 lighter. Now, for most things hardware related I just go to Jerry's first and skip the big box headache.

I like to shop local, but I had already resolved to stop shopping here because of poor customer service on multiple occasions. I tracked the package on the UPS website and saw that it was delivered the previous day, and I called to double-check that it was actually there before stopping by. The guy who answered the phone couldn't have been less interested in helping me. It was evident right away that he felt like checking for the package was a huge inconvenience. He left the phone to go search for it WHILE I WAS STILL TALKING, describing what it should look like (excuse me for trying to be helpful), and asking if another undelivered package also happened to be there. He came back to the phone and said he didn't find anything. I walked over shortly afterward and explained to the same guy that the UPS tracker showed that one package was delivered there the day before. Long story short, he found it and explained that he didn't see it initially because he was looking for the other one I described, and he grumbled on and on about how this store "isn't a UPS." Try ACTUALLY LISTENING to your customers when they're speaking to you, and you won't miss key details. And a business currently has to apply to become a UPS Access Point, so you can save all that grumbling for your manager. I didn't want to come here to pick-up my packages in the first place because of EXACTLY THIS kind of shitty customer service that seems to be the norm here. Yes, it requires additional time and effort, but one of the supposed benefits of being an Access Point is its potential to increase foot traffic (and ultimately, sales)--but I will go out of my way to shop elsewhere because I'm beyond tired of the misogyny and condescension.

What a fantastic experience! Wade in the paint department was phenomenal in helping me--he was very patient with my needing to call my consultant on which paint to get, he offered good recommendations, and he was able to mix up just what I needed. I also stopped by to get some (many) cleaning products for my new home. They have everything and more, including an impressive collection of Meyer's Clean Day scents. (I chose Honeysuckle.) I also snagged some cleaning tools to keep my new place sparkling. Everyone here is helpful, friendly, and good-natured; it was such a pleasure to come! Update: I just realized that this draft has been sitting unpublished for ten months! Dang! Since I wrote it, I have also come to Home Depot for other things, including two new toilets, house plants, and other assorted home care items. It's such a great, convenient way to get what I need for my home!

Mark referred me to Glen Rud, a fantastic, honest, and reasonable small engine repair expert in located in Richfield. Glen fixed the problem and I had it back in 1.5 days. It just needed an adjustment to the choke... Fantastic hardware store!
