I was so disappointed when the UPS slip on my door stated that my package was delivered here (it's a UPS Access Point). I like to shop local, but I had already resolved to stop shopping here because of poor customer service on multiple occasions. I tracked the package on the UPS website and saw that it was delivered the previous day, and I called to double-check that it was actually there before stopping by. The guy who answered the phone couldn't have been less interested in helping me. It was evident right away that he felt like checking for the package was a huge inconvenience. He left the phone to go search for it WHILE I WAS STILL TALKING, describing what it should look like (excuse me for trying to be helpful), and asking if another undelivered package also happened to be there. He came back to the phone and said he didn't find anything. I walked over shortly afterward and explained to the same guy that the UPS tracker showed that one package was delivered there the day before. Long story short, he found it and explained that he didn't see it initially because he was looking for the other one I described, and he grumbled on and on about how this store "isn't a UPS." Try ACTUALLY LISTENING to your customers when they're speaking to you, and you won't miss key details. And a business currently has to apply to become a UPS Access Point, so you can save all that grumbling for your manager. I didn't want to come here to pick-up my packages in the first place because of EXACTLY THIS kind of shitty customer service that seems to be the norm here. Yes, it requires additional time and effort, but one of the supposed benefits of being an Access Point is its potential to increase foot traffic (and ultimately, sales)--but I will go out of my way to shop elsewhere because I'm beyond tired of the misogyny and condescension. read more

Bryant Hardware is THE BEST! I can't say enough good things about them. Every hardware, installation, how-to question I've ever had, they've answered. Friendly, knowledgeable, practical, they stock literally everything I've ever needed in the way of hardware and so much more (Foley food mill, mason jars, potting soil, snow shovels, paint, weird little screws that with a single glance they know exactly what they are and where they're kept) - you name it, they have it and they will tell you how to use it. If you are into nosebleed prices and poor customer service- this is the place for you! I have used them quite often as they are a convenient choice. However, I have never had them cut a key for me that wound up working. The staff often can't answer my questions, and don't seem to have the authority to make decisions. Just bought some VERY overpriced paint from them and wound up not being the right thing. The manager was rude to me and kept offering me store credit, as if I want to go back there. The manager asked me to come in tomorrow, not specifying if it was for a refund- I will be updating this review accordingly. If he does not offer a full return/ refund and wastes my time on top of everything else then I will be even more upset. Sigh. I just want to say that I would be willing to pay a bit more for a small neighborhood business, but I have had enough. read more

I have a thing for neighborhood hardware stores. Maybe it's nostalgia for my first job at age 15 at Zimmerman's Hardware. Or perhaps it's a reflection of my love for creating things with my own two hands - whether it is cooking, sewing, crafting, landscaping, or working on furniture. I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised when I took an interest inventory in high school and the top occupation suggested was "Carpenter." Anyway, neighborhood hardware stores like Bryant Hardware possess so much charm and warmth and are full of possibility. The staff working there was very friendly and helpful, unlike the impersonal experience usually found at Home Depot et al. (Okay, so it helps that the guy was very cute and reminded me of my first homecoming date who was a co-worker at Zimmerman's). Back to the store, it's a bit on the small side but has all the hardware basics. It's not really one of those hardware stores that sells everything-but-the-kitchen-sink. That's okay because those items are usually jacked up at these places. And I like the feeling of walking in and spending just a few bucks but knowing that the result will be worth much more. Thanks Bryant Hardware! I walked in looking for some screen material and cuphooks. I walked out with a ton of ideas for future projects and a new favorite local business. This review is not about the store but the locksmith they sent over. I had one front door lock and one back door lock. The girl had the parts all mingled together. Then she put the locks back together and they would not work. I pointed out to her she had the door knob from the front interchanged with the doorknob from the back. Then she still couldn't get the front lock to work so she installed an ARMY GREEN cylinder in the front lock. So much for looks! I was just glad when she left to have anything working. Great place. If you're looking to shop locally but scared you might be over-charged because of a smaller inventory, don't worry. From what I've seen their prices are pretty competitive. Add to that the fact that the store is pretty small so you're never really out of sight of an employee so they'll know when you need help and you've got yourself a fantastic shopping experience. read more

I'm fortunate that Bryant Hardware is the closest hardware store to my house. Even if it wasn't, I'd go out of my way to shop here. When you close your eyes and picture a hardware store, Bryant Hardware is what you're envisioning. Aisles jam packed full of stuff, a sort of musty, greasy, tool smell in the air, key cutting machine in the front, wall full of screws, nuts, and bolts, window glass and screen repair service tucked into the back corner, and stuff to fix things you didn't even know could break! Top it off with a friendly and knowlegeable staff willing to help you out, and an owner who will custom order anything he doesn't stock, and you've got a home run of a hardware store. read more

I have lived here for 20 plus years and I always brag to my suburban brethren about all the great places I have within walking distance. Bryant hardware is one I always mention. Sure your small local places may cost a bit more than that big box that you have to drive 30 min to, but Bryant hardware has saved me in the long run, with their convenience and know how more than I can count. Bryant Hardware is a UPS access point. I've picked up several packages from the location. Previously, I was helped by a female employee who provided good customer service - I had no issues. Every time I connected with her, she searched for my name in a computer and then went down the stairs to search for my package in the basement. Unfortunately, I have recently had the bad luck of interacting with two different male employees who have been clearly disinclined to assist me. I was informed that a package I was waiting for had been delivered to the access point, so I went at the end of last week to pick it up. I asked the only employee I could find - an older white male - for help in obtaining the package that I had been told was waiting for me. He immediately told me there was no package for me, without consulting his computer or checking the basement - it very much felt like he just didn't want to look, so he lied and said they didn't have it. Well, whatever. I waited a few days and went back to check for the same package. I was first in line at the counter and a different employee - another older white male - came to help me. He asked for my ID to go get my package. While I'm pulling my ID out of my bag, another white man - a customer - comes up to the desk to check out. Instead of finishing up with me, the employee proceeds to bypass my request and take care of the second customer - without saying anything to me, mind you. So, yeah... I guess the only conclusion I can come to is that the men who work for Bryant Hardware don't like women very much, because I don't know what else I could have possibly done to receive such poor service from two different middle-aged white men. read more

I come here for the service and to support local! I was referred to Erin Fenske (manager) specifically years ago when doing a window project on my home. Growing up with a dad who knew how to fix everything and taught me how to be self sufficient, it takes a lot to impress me and even more to impress my dad. She did it!!!! And that doesn't happen easily with my dad! He LOVED working with her!!! She is beyond knowledgeable!!! My dad and I go to Home Depot (if we can't get to BH) and we feel like we are training their staff! I can't express how refreshing it is to come into a store and have someone know more about everything than you do. Isn't that how it's supposed to be? She is reliable, dependable and the face of this amazing neighborhood store. Everyone knows her and comes back because she is a rockstar. I used to frequent Ace on Nicollet because I wanted to support local, but Bryant Hardware has become much more personal to our family!! You just don't find that these days and it's very refreshing. She will order what you need and go out of her way to get you what you need. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. So happy I made that call 8 years ago! read more

What a great local/neighborhood hardware store - if you live anywhere near here choose this place over the bigger chains! The staff is super helpful and nice. I also just found out that they have 10% off on weekends!! I love to stop in here and then get a bite at Gigi's (next door) as a pre-reward for whatever "hardware related job" that I will soon be completing now that I have the proper tools for the job, thanks to Bryant Hardware. I recommend just giving a quick call to double check that they have whatever you need (if it seems like something somewhat specific or out of the ordinary) because they have a great selection but of course as a smaller independent hardware store I would assume they might not have everything under the sun but for the most part I think they'd have most things a person might need. Also, for busers, the 4 goes right by here....sweet. What more could a person ask for? read more

This store is located just a block from my apartment and it has everything I need. I moved to Minneapolis a little over a month ago and needed a lot of supplies to restore some of the furniture that I was putting my apartment. It was becoming a hassle to drive back and forth from Ace to Walmart to Target etc. so when I discovered Bryant Hardware it was a big relief. They have everything I need and the staff is super personable. I've gotten key's copied there, bought spray paint, purchased wooden dowels to replace the wood on my kitchen chairs - they have everything, and I love the fact that it's so close. read more

I love Bryant Hardware!!! The staff has always been super helpful and courteous, and for such a small store they still have almost everything you need. Today I was running errands in the 'burbs and tried two big boxes, Home Depot and Menard's, looking for a shop apron to keep my clothes clean while working on small projects around the house. I am not one to review a place online especially a hardware store but I feel compelled to share my experiences over the many years I have been a customer. It has been 13 years that I have lived and managed a property in the neighborhood. Whenever I have needed anything I have gone to Bryant Hardware because they are the best! We have bought our front screen doors and needed installation they came to us and installed, when a storm came through and broke our window screen, they fixed it promptly, when we had tenant turn over they copied our keys, and when we needed advice on boilers, piping, electrical, and hardware they shared their experiences and expertise. I cannot express enough how much I have valued them as a homeowner and now landlord. Thank you for always taking the time to help, educate and recognize me when I come to your store.
