It was a bit of a trek through rush-hour traffic from our hotel but so completely worth the trip. Discretely located through a door marked only by a red light above it we were warmly greeted by gentleman behind the hardware counter. We were prepared to answer with the password to let us in but for some reason it wasn't asked. No big deal. You are then sent through a door into the beautifully dimly-lit space of the speakeasy. There is plenty of seating, with small tables and some booths. We were shown to our table and greeted by one of the great, friendly hostesses. Drinks are ordered directly at the bar with one of the attendants. You immediately pay for your order which will then be brought to your table. Different but really a nice idea. The music was also nicely unique, with a mix of oldies from the 50's and 60's. An old black and white James Cagney movie played silently on one wall. In terms of the cocktails I have to say these are some of the most delicious and finely crafted drinks I've enjoyed. I began with the Start Your Engine, a delicious gin-based drink. My wife had an absolutely fantastic smoked Old Fashioned, smoked in a large box for a minute or two. Wow! Probably the best we've ever tasted. My second drink was another gin cocktail, the Last Word, which I'd been wanting to try for some time. A fine gin supported by green Chartreuse and lime, this was simply sublime. Highly recommended. The bar and menu is quite varied and extensive, so you're sure to find something to your liking. The space has a great vibe and mellow ambiance. Sufficiently dark, cozy and very nicely and eclectically decorated. Service was outstanding and informative. Reservations are recommended. Like many such places you are "limited" to 90-minute timeframes, which sometimes seems like not enough but ultimately works quite well. The quality of the cocktails, space and service all make for a really enjoyable time. Well worth many visits.

The cocktail menu is extensive, almost overwhelmingly so. I typically go with my gut when it comes to cocktails but because of so many options I asked one of the cocktail servers for a recommendation and was not happy with the result. I honestly think since she was so young, she probably doesn't have much experience drinking craft cocktails yet so I can only blame myself. I did try my friends' drinks and they chose wisely. I am definitely looking forward to going back and trying something else.

I will say, the advice can be hit or miss from the staff, but everyone I've spoken to has been super friendly & helpful. I also love that they have a piano player, or at least the player piano going. We Midwesterners all know the motto: save big money at Menards! They almost always have some sort of rebate program, usually 11% back, which definitely helps the wallet during a large home project. I love how close this place is, their selection, & their seasonal rotating items. I'll shop here as long as I have a house to work on (& probably even after then) lol

I will say the few staff we asked for help did generally help by pointing in the direction the item would be in but I felt like none of them were so busy that they couldn't walk us to the area (as they couldn't tell use an exact aisle). We did eventually find everything we were looking for. I generally just like browsing around. I found some bublr flavors I haven't seen other places. It sounded like someone was playing the piano upstairs but maybe it was just a radio, the escalator to go up was out of service so the elevator was a bit busy and not worth exploring upstairs. They are also super friendly :) Here are some specifics of how awesome these guys are. I bought an underbed storage unit from Ikea that was too long to fit under my bed. I tried to hacksaw two ends of the unit to make it shorter and as with many DIY projects, I straight up ruined it, or so I thought. One of the guys at Ace was able to use their basement workshop to shorten it properly with a table saw and on top of that he drilled some new screw holes so I could reassemble the unit. I think the total was like 3 or 4 bucks. Another project I started today, I was making a DIY bike wall mount and they found all the perfect parts, Ian (one of the cool cats that works there) re-threaded a bike stem, provided suggestions for all the right mounting hardware and probably some other things I forgot. They could tell that I was passionate about this project and they seemed pretty interested in it themselves. Can't say it enough, these guys rock!

If you are going to be doing anything that will require a sizeable amount of lumber, come here. You'll save a significant amount of money. Even a red cedar 4x4x10' will be $20 less than what you'll get at Menards or Home Depot. And that is just on one piece of wood. Plus, it feels like they take care of their employees as I see some of the same people and this is from shopping here multiple years. There are other things offered here that are from different manufactures too like doors, interior hinges, etc.

They have many variety of choices of different kinds of materials that you will need for remodeling or just your garden. They have some of the lumber like 2 x 4 x 8 they also have a lot of rough material for plumbing. They also have a lot of rough electrical material and also finish the parking lot is pretty big. I was told during installation that i can put in my preference time which I did. They did not meet my preference, plus they were going to be late that evening since they have a installation which will take them longer. Throughout all of this, its been nothing but time changes when I readjust my work schedule, poor customer service in store, installation customer service line now tells me preference. I will never place any order from HOME DEPOT again.
