AWFUL!!!! We ordered two granite countertops with them and we went there asking for a competitive price, since we were in the other shops and had about the same price range. They lured us in with a nice low price, we talked about us removing our old countertop (not them to save money), putting plywood down and they come and do the install. We were just trying to schedule our install and now find out that they made a small note somewhere on the invoice that the install is not included in the price, we got a quote on a written down piece of paper and agreed on a price that includes ALL simply not the removal and plywood. Turns out that she made a note in the invoice (which we didn't read through it, stupid of us to trust them) and now we have two slabs hanging somewhere in Sodo with no means to get them to our place. Now it turns out that oh if you want that installed, we have to charge you more money!? What is going on? She claims she remembers our conversation and we do as well and she even asked if we had power and water at our place, so they can cut on site! Now all of a sudden the quote didn't include installation? I don't even know what to say anymore, this is a huge joke! We were just on the phone for half an hour and she was yelling at us for all being our fault! We even offered to meet in the middle and split the installation cost, even though they tricked us and there is no budging on her end and she hung up on us!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE read more

This company was highly recommended by several of my clients, like multiple people!!! I don't know anything about cabinets or home remodels so I have to turn to others for referrals. I called them and they extremely helpful and honest in what we should get for my aunt's kitchen. Pricing was pretty upfront too and they accommodate with our busy schedule. However the way they used to do business might not be the way they do now. KT was recommended to us by our contractor from a previous project. We went to visit their location to see their selection, which was very limited. Despite our in person impression and reservation, we decided to move forward with them by having them come out to measure and provide a design for us. We paid $200 for this service and were told if we decided to do cabinet with them, this would be applied towards the total. They never even asked us for our email address to send us the design so we had to call them and asked for their email address and sent an email so that they would have our email address and information. 2 week passed since they came out to measure, we emailed them asking for an update or ETA when they would be ready with the design. When we didn't hear back, we called them and were told they would call us back the next day with an update. They never did. When the 4 week mark passed, we emailed them asking for an update. Again no response. At this point, it's been over a month, we have paid $200 and received no design. Communication and follow through were non existent. Looking through old reviews, it seems like they used to be very professional and did good work. However, I'm not sure they are still that way anymore. We're disappointed with the experience we have had and have expressed this to our contractor who had recommended KT so that he is aware of the change in KT. read more

We had 3 bathrooms updated around May or June. It seemed to be ok at first but then we found out that the 2 installers forgot to install the plywood under the granite slabs on the new vanities. Well these idiots put glue down and laid these slabs down and later on when they were not solid but moving we figured out that the plywood had not been installed before they placed the granite down on the vanity. Plus the installers took the Plywood in their truck and took it with them ! So we called the guy we dealt with, Ryan and told him about this and he told us not to lean on it or put any weight on it. But when it came to them actually coming back to fix all these 3 granite tops, it took me calling Citibank and filing a formal complaint. After they realized the money we paid them was in a dispute and had temporarily been put back in my account , that's when they decided to fix everything. One of the things that's happened now is my husbands bathroom sink is falling out. They glued it but did not brace it. The sink stopper isn't useable either as it sticks and gets stuck in the down position. We had a kitchen remodel in 2007 that's why we went back to KT. What the heck has happened to this business is beyond me. But I surely wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

My husband and I were trying to decide on where to go since we were planning to remodel our kitchen. We had wanted to replace all our cabinets and counter top. He came here on his own. Told me how their lack of customer service was meaning, no greeting or acknowledgment that you had walked into their store. In any case, he managed to talk to Ryan, and he gave some estimates since my husband brought pictures and measurements. Ryan gave an estimate quote, and my husband said he would need to shop around. A few days later, Ryan actually contacted my husband, and was willing to go lower, and we thought it was a good deal since it was within what our budget was. The following week, I had gone with my husband since he wanted me to pick the counter top, even though he picked a certain one. When we actually talked to Ryan again to let him know, there was a confusion since the cabinet color for the counter top area would be different than the above cabinets on the wall, which was why the estimate quote was cheaper. Ryan was accommodating after we kept changing our minds, and of course, the price changed. Throughout that whole time, he was great at communicating to my husband whether a phone call or via email. The project took 2 days. First group put cabinets and the other group did the counter tops. Now, my irritation was when the first group came, they made a dent in our wall while bringing in the cabinets, and broke our water pipe...so, we had to shut the water off, which was hard to do since I have kids that need to do #1/ #2 all the time while these guys were working. My husband told Ryan about it. Not sure if there was a response for that, but I do have to admit that one of the workers did do a nice thing for us and gave a couple of gift cards, even though we didn't expect that. We even bought a quick lunch for them since they did work all the way through despite this mishap without having a break, but that's just us since we're just nice. Unfortunately, my husband had to keep going to Lowe's in order to try and fix the water pipe after this first group left, and I felt it wasted his time/ money. The 2nd group (2 workers) on the following day was supposed to show up at 11am, and my husband had contacted Ryan on basically what's the hold up. They didn't show up until noon. They worked for a few hours, and apparently needed a "lunch" break, which was fine. When I came home from picking up my kids on their Cub/ Girl Scout trip, I didn't know that one of the workers was in the house, until my husband told me that he had asked him to come inside since he felt it was too cold since the other guy went to get some food. I didn't get a view of the kitchen yet, but when I did, I was shocked to see him laying on our unfinished kitchen counter, falling asleep and snoring. I was appalled. Even though my husband was nice to have him come inside, but sit your ass on the couch, NOT sprawled out on our kitchen counter where we put food, where we eat at or entertain guests. It was disgusting and so disrespectful and inappropriate! My husband finally told him to get off after I was being completely annoyed, even though he should've said from the beginning. I was even telling my husband where the hell is the other guy? what's taking him so long to get food? Did he cross the border or something? Even though, the cabinets/ countertops were placed well (so far)... I can't condone about how the workers did. We emailed Ryan about these incidences, and even mentioned how now our wood floors are puffing or buckling due to the broken water pipe, and so the panels are unleveled, and with the guy laying on my counter top...it's still disgusting. We showed him pictures, and requested a possible discount since everything seemed like an inconvenience. Well, Ryan hasn't emailed back and it's been a few days, and this was the one who was so communicative in the beginning, but yeah, since they got our money, apparently they're not wanting to redeem themselves in their business ethics (if there is one) With that... I am so glad KT was recommended to me by the local real estate agent for both my cabinets and countertops (I selected top of the line Cambria). I worked with Ryan and he was fast, helpful responsive and even patient with me as this was my first time doing any type of remodel project. A MUCH better experience than trying to do this with Ikea. The prices were more than 1/2 of other quotes I received from various shops around Seattle/Bellevue. Yet the quality is similar or better. The counter staff are busy and over worked, but helpful when you can get them to respond. Qwen helped us do replace our kitchen cabinets and replace counters in kitchen and bathrooms as we prepared to sell our house in Renton. The absolutely horrific experience with the installers is where you should seriously learn from our mistakes. The cabinets went in one day (one hood vent mishap but nothing we did not overcome and the crew was respectful of the hardwood floors and me as a person.) What is completely unacceptable is two counter installers being incredibly disrespectful to me (a female, english speaking property owner). They tracked wet slime all over my hardwoods, left doors opened as they came and went and laughed when I asked they use more care. One man even physically "shoulder checked" me in the hall of my own home. They would ask questions only by pointing but the English improved when my male english speaking realtor came to my rescue. This is a business statement and nothing more - do not EVER hire someone who cannot communicate in any common language (business, courtesy, respect for other humans, customers) and expect a good outcome. I had no idea that people would arrive at my home who could communicate on a fundamental level. This could have been better if there were ANY effort to have courtesy, lay down boxes (as the cabinet installer did) to protect flooring or close doors behind them. I was most definitely treated differently than my male realtor and communication got a little better and the major "problem" of how to go around an electric outlet in the backsplash of the bathroom quickly dissolved. If you want the female customers money - you may need to learn to treat that customer with common decent respect. I will never do business with this outfit again - same cheap cabinets are being sold everywhere - so although the $7k got it done, it was NOT worth the hassle. With calls to the office staff, realtor intervention, my spouse making phone calls to raise cane - we got it done.... but what a terrible experience. We shopped around quite a bit and went with KT due to their ability to meet our budget. Our project was a full kitchen remodel and we used KT for new cabinets and counter tops; the final product was exactly as expected. Pros : This is definitely a value for the price. Cabinets/counters seem high quality and look great installed. We found their price helped our budget by about 30%. They also had a quick turnaround which was helpful for our schedule. Cons : There was a lot of coordination required to make sure everything was right. KT was willing to work with us to make sure everything was as we liked, and on schedule, but it took work on our end. We had some rework with our cabinet installation but between us and KT, they were able to coordinate it with the installer in order to keep our tight schedule. Final Thoughts : Do not think these are custom cabinets. They wont work for every install situation, but worked great for us. Watch out for spacers, there isn't a transition piece that looks good so locate them against walls rather than in between cabinets. I will be using them again for future projects. read more

My boyfriend went in maybe 30 minutes to closing, we had everything we needed, measurements, knew the size sink we needed, knew the measurements of our appliances, and had a design in mind... Ryan was so helpful! There ended up being a few more customers who walked in, and we didn't feel rushed. In about an hour, we had white shaker cabinets picked out, took us awhile to decide on our quartz, but after that, it was so fast! I had read reviews, so I was a bit skeptical on installers from KT, but the price for everything was amazing, including the install, so we took a chance, and it was sooooo worth it! Peter and his crew were so nice and respectful, very detail oriented, and worked fast! Quartz installers were out the next day, and after about 4 hours, we had a beautiful kitchen! If Zero Stars was possible, I would give it. This company is impossible to work with. Customer Service? NON EXISTENT. Like have appointments cancelled at the last minute? We sure don't, but that is what you can expect from this company. The granite that was installed throughout our home looks nice, but the entire back splash in our Kitchen is falling away from the wall, and they wont fix it. I would NEVER work with these people. The only reason we even have contact with them is because the builder of our home contracted through them. He has already sworn to never use them. Their slogan should be "Once it's installed, it's your problem". This place has a nice stockpile of products and some good prices. Even though this place has poor reviews we chose them because were were under a tight timeline and they could get out to install kitchen countertops within 2 weeks of purchase. Our job was super simple, and the installers did what they could initially to make things work. We looked it over with the installers there and there was a crack in one of them. Not just a crack in the slab but a crack in the piece they installed. There was 7 linear feet left over that was no problem at all. Just as the installers were leaving we pointed it out to them. They started talking in Chinese and then said 'Manufacturing defect'. OK - I get that, but why is it my problem to pay for and solve? They installed it with a crack in it and were there to see how bad it was. So KT's solution to the problem? Grind the crack out. Not to replace or even epoxy it, but to grind it off. So they create a huge mess of dust, and left our counter top with a very uneven edge caused by an angle grinder. It looks like crap. It needed to be replaced. I told them that. I went down and talked to Winnie. I never received a call back. read more

Got my quartz countertops & under mount sinks from KT as well as they installed it. Love the Usmanov quartz design & color. No other company had that design in quartz; they were all in granite. Wanted quartz because it is sealed and I wouldn't have to do yearly maintenance on it like you do with granite. Replaced my kitchen, guest bathroom & master bathroom countertops and sinks. Ryan was great to work with. The other employees had strong Asian accents which was a little difficult to understand sometimes. The price was fair and I would recommend them to others. We went here to get a granite vanity counter top because it was hard to find the bigger size counter top we needed in stock at the chain store. KT has a nice selection for really good prices, even the custom ones are cheaper than the standard ones at the store. We also got some floor tiles that were really cheap. The staff was friendly and efficient. I give them one star less because the granite was cut a quarter of an inch off, but luckily our contractor was able to take care of it. read more

I bought the cabinet and countertop and both were ready to take home within two hours (the granite countertop needed to be cut and the sink attached). The whole transaction was easy and professional. I have the #6003 Square Style Dark Cherry cabinets in the kitchen, kitchen island, built in china hutch & 4 bathrooms. These are now discontinued. I bought the house in 2011 after it was completely remodeled & 5 years later almost all cabinets/drawers have signs of wear. I took my pictures to a big box company looking for an answer of who the manufacturer was. I was told she had never seen wear & tear damage that bad on cabinets just 5 years old & she suggested finding out who the manufacturer was to contact them because the manufacturer would have a warranty. I had to call the contractor to find out he had went to KT Building Supply. I sent KT Building Supply an email with pictures attached & waited for a response. I waited until the next week, then looked KT up on yelp. Do you every have that feeling you will be ignored? That's what I felt so I called them. She said she had no email from me to send again so I did & called back. I was told that the cabinets were discontinued, the cabinets came from China & the warranty might be for 1 or 2 years & the wear was because of the raised panel style. I asked about repair & was told it would be very expensive. Bottom line for me is I would pay for a better quality cabinet with a warranty then to have this junk in my house. read more

They say if you purchase from them they will credit the $250 towards your purchase. Who would pay $250 not knowing what they are going to quote you. We went in looking for a remnant of Blue Pearl granite for a bathroom vanity. Luckily they had a piece on site and were willing to cut and drill to order. Now, the price was not "cheap" but they were willing to do what we wanted which required several cuts and 2 holes to be drilled. $250 for a 21x30" slab. They had to cut off the finished edge because we wanted a flat piece AND drill a hole for a vessel sink and another hole for a standard faucet. It took 3 visits to get it right. The first trip to order it and 2 trips because the first time they didn't remove the finished edge and the second time the holes they drilled were no big enough. At the end of the day, we got what we wanted and started the process early enough that it didn't impact our project. Would I go back... probably. But I'd be VERY specific and check everything on site before I took the piece home. read more

I will never use cabinets from this company again. The cabinets are the worst and the customer service isn't much better. My clients bought these cabinets because they thought they were getting good cabinets because they had plywood boxes and self closing hinges. By the time they paid me to install these cabinet and struggle with the poor quailty and fix the mistakes, they could have bought a better cabinet. I've installed other cabinets made in China which are much better. Let me begin my list of complaints with the self closing draw glides. The alignment of the clip on the bottom for the drawer makes it very difficult to attach the drawer to glide. As with everything about these cabinets the attention to detail in there construction was lacking. The door hinges aren't much better. Unlike most cabinet hinges they had to be unscrewed to remove the door. No easy release button to remove the door. Once again the attention to detail in aligning the doors was lacking. Because the hinges are so bad it takes much longer to do. The finished wood fronts are attached to the cabinet boxes with a locking cam system. Many of the pieces had gaps, tightening the cams sometimes helped, some wouldn't tighen because they were bent. Some of the cabinets weren't even square. The finished ends panels had blemishes and were made of a different wood so they didn't quite match the fronts. The finish on the cabinets was very thin. One coat, maybe. I don't think these cabinets will hold up very well in kitchen, because of the mosture, food and use. If you don't have any problems customer service is OK. In remodeling or construction there are always problems. KT isn't very good at customer satisfaction. They do the least they can, then they stop. read more

I am very disappointed in KT Building I used them in March and recommended them to a friend. She had a problem with a sink they installed just two weeks after installation. . They refused to stand behind their work. Charged her for new sink and for labor to replace. She also had to pay plumber to come back. We just purchased granite COUNTER TOPS, not cabinets from KT, and were very pleased by the installation, and mostly by the price. We searched for weeks for counter tops, and were depressed that they were out of our price range. After seeing their sign driving along the W. Seattle Bridge, we stopped in and were blown away by their prices. Although you usually get what you pay for, in this case, we think we got more. The gentlemen who installed the counter tops didn't speak English well, but they spoke well enough to understand what we needed. The price we were quoted was what we paid, except for the additional things we requested while on site (an extra $80 worth or so). They allowed us to both bring our own granite for certain rooms (like bathrooms), and purchase granite from them for installation. Winnie was very professional and straightforward, and they have lots of samples in their showroom. Would definitely recommend them. read more

Looks like the one star review came from a contractor who didn't get to choose cabinets for his clients and who probably wasnt comfortable communicating with Chinese. We have two sets of these cabinets and are happy wit the quality. Let me go through the other reviewers complaints line by line. Self closing drawer glids being difficult to attach? We didn't have this problem, nor would any decent cabinet installer. Yes, door hinges have to be unscrewed to remove the door. We didn't have alignment issues and if we did it would be easy to fix. We didn't have problem with cabinets not being square or with end panel blemishes. We are picky, we had a top architect involved an a high end builder. Where KT is amazing both on price and quality is in their countertops. Selection is gettting better now especially with quartz and they now have square edge options. ~$30 a sf installed is impossible to beat. The large custom cut island they did for us came out perfectly. If you are a client be careful working with contractors because some don't like working with the chinese shops and would much rather have you go through the old boy network. We converted our builder who also uses them now for bathroom vanities. One nit is that KT had surprisingly good quality bamboo flooring, but now are no longer stocking due to warehouse space limiations. We'd like to get more of it somehow :) After 2 1/2 years no problems with fading, finish, etc. read more

My girlfriend and I have purchased two vanities with tops, quartz counter tops and kitchen cabinets from KT. The experience was somewhat of a roller coaster and a learning experience but overall was good. We were on a budget and shopped around. They were a few thousand less than other places I checked so we chose them to maximize our budget. We first purchased a vanity with top for a bathroom. We received a call to come pick it up so we headed over to get it. We had asked for holes for knobs to be drilled and boy that was a mistake. The holes were visibly off from the parking lot while the vanity was on the loading dock. I pointed it out, they spoke among themselves for a bit and had to measure the holes to double check even though it was obviously off. They did end up getting new doors with more accurate holes drilled for us. Lesson learned: do not ask for them to drill the holes. This made me decide not to ask them to drill holes for our kitchen. We were happy with everything else for the vanity. The second vanity with top we purchased had an issue with the joining of the front pieces. There was an obvious gap and I called/our contractor went to take it back. This is where i received the worst customer service. I was talking on the phone about the defect and they kept side stepping the issue saying that "somewhere else this would be $500" and "our prices are low" basically telling me that since the price was low they did not care about it. So I gave up and asked my contractor to do his best to fix it. The kitchen went smoothly, I arrived with our contractor to double check the cabinets. I would advice this explicitly. You need to take the cardboard off as well as the plastic sheeting to examine the cabinets for damage. They will not check for you!! We had a drawer front replaced because it was damaged. Do you due diligence and inspect them carefully because you will want to point it out right away to get it replaced or risk not noticing till you are home and I fear what the outcome of trying to get them to fix it after you have already left the property with the products. Keep in mind that for the prices do not expect expert craftsmanship. The hinges make it difficult to get the door gap spacing exactly the same. They build these cabinets in a warehouse with a makita cordless drill and un box them when they are sold. The boxes say "easy to assemble cabinets" If they are damaged they get assembled and sent out the door unless you notice and say something. I cannot comment on their installation services because we did not use them. Overall I would recommend them but be careful and check everything. Make sure to keep your receipts with you at all times. read more

We bought our cabinets and granite tops from these people. The cabinets are fairly lightweight and we have found numerous second quality drawers and doors. The cabinet shelf pegs that they use are so cheap that we have had several shelves fail with glassware breaking and shelves falling on top of one another. I requested more shelf pegs as they never even sent the required amount and never heard back after they were paid. read more

If there is an option for a zero star, that's what KT building supplies will get. It would accurately describe the kind of business KT building supply provides to their customers. The most unethical company, they exist just to make quick money from people who are lack of experience and time in home remodeling. A minus zero for customer service, they ignore us for as long as they could, each time we were in the store, we were left to wait until one of them decided to talk to us. My husband and I were in need of a kitchen make over so we drove around 6th ave. in Seattle and KT was the very first place we stopped in for an estimate. We met and spoke to Ryan, after showing him our sketches and measurements of the kitchen, he gave us a quote on how much it would cost for a brand new kitchen including demolition, cabinets and counter top. We wanted a white cabinet so he pointed us to the show room which has a sample of what it would look like when finished. The day came when they sent their guys over to do the job, the cabinets installed were nothing as we saw in their show room, drops of dried paint dripped down from the panel and the cabinets were also installed very poorly, the gaps between them were not even matching up. We went back to the store to talk to Ryan to find a way to work things out; we asked them to change out the cabinet doors with the defective paint on them. When we showed them the pictures of the cabinets poorly installed and the poor quality of the pain on them, the lady owner told us these material comes from China, then told us the cabinet in their show room is custom painted, and there is nothing they can do for us. They did not tell us that when we were in their show room deciding on the type of cabinet to go with. We told her that we bought them from her not from China and she kept insisted that we had to accept them the way it is. The lady owner was rude and almost yelling at us every time we communicated our concerns of the poor quality of products to her. Out of desperation, frustration, and short of time we had to get the project done, we finally decided that since they were not going to work with us, we would return the whole thing and have it out of our house so we can hire another company to get the job done right for us. They charged us restocking fee of the products and we ended up losing $1700 in restocking fee for the demolition and the return of the cabinets. Until today, we're still fighting to get our money back from the total amount we paid them. I would NOT recommend this business to anyone, for those who are looking for a cheap place, this place is not cheap, it will end up costing you more than going to a reputable business for your project plus a tone of stress and you get treated like you are begging them to do business with you. read more

KT Building Supply was recommended by my general contractor. The kitchen cabinets are kits that KT assembles in their warehouse. They are made with plywood boxes and some type of tropical hardwood. The size variation in the cabinet drawer and door faces can be over 1/4". Warping of doors is common. Color variation and finish flaws are highly visible in the boxes, doors and drawers. Especially so in the trim. Hardware is okay, but not as smooth as others Chinese made cabinetry. The worst aspect of KT is their service. They obviously sent out pieces that had been returned for defects. This is a top-down practice to see if someone will accept their returns. Unethical! Although measurements are given to them at time of order, some critical measurements are not transferred from the design sheet to the purchase order. They demand 100% payment at time of purchase, which removes all incentives for them to make good on their end of the deal. KT brought the wrong island countertop. They insisted I pay for a new slab to correct their mistake. I paid and KT cut the new slab to the wrong size. I insisted they make good on this, since the size was written on the design. KT sent out another slab and crew at their expense, but did a terrible job of making the edge of the countertop. The glue was contaminated with dirt and the white countertop has a black line in the middle of the edge around 95% of the perimeter. There was no money in this third installation, so they clearly did not want to do this job and it seems like I was being punished for their mistake. Somewhere in this business, at the management level, they don't feel their business reputation has to be protected. I have since heard from other contractors that other Chinese cabinet companies in Seattle have a better product and much better installers. Most of all, the other companies are reputable and will make good on their product and installation. Shame on me for not vetting KT before taking my contractor's recommendation. I Spent alot of money with this company and was treated as if my money meant nothing, once i forked over the deposit. I was overcharged on many things, after we initially agreed on a set price. The sales lady, Winnie, seemed nice but was really a cheap scammer that tries to keep extra granite that u pay for once its installed. Her installers felt awkard even attempting. I would never recommend this unprofessional place to anyone. Even the cabinets weren't what was expected and they charge 25% re stocking fee. NO bueno. They also provided mismatching granite, the counter tops and backsplash, were two different types. Smh. There are many other options in the sodo area with comparable prices and better material, and most importantly, with professional employees . I wish i shopped around more. Save yourself a big headache and go elsewhere. read more
