There are only a few techs who know what they are doing. You can tell, because she tries to send you the ones who no one wants. Then, after he screws up your nails, she comes over to finish. The prices are too much for the inexperienced techs. After giving her $52.00 for a gel pedicure and a mani I refused to continue with from a terrible tech, I've got to go somewhere else and get my gel done. read more

This would have been a 5 star review however I came in for a filling after my nails broke just 3 days of having them done. I was given a cup of acetone to soak off on of the broken nails and told to sit. After 30 minutes had gone by and I realized they two new customers had walked in and were going to be serviced, I inquired about the length of time and how long I had been sitting. I was advised by the owner they I would have to wait for the person that initially did my nails who was servicing another customer. I advised that it was an inconvenience for me to have to sit and wait for the original person that did my nails when they should not have broken off in the first place. As the customer this was very inconsiderate to allow someone to wait for one person when there was a station available. Great job on nails but horrible customer service read more

I did a walk in for a gel pedicure and a LCN filling and experiences was pretty decent , The place was clean , the nail techs worked clean and did not need any commentary lol however I can not help but feel a little scammed .... okay she there is signs that are displayed that stated cash only and no card use . I also over heard the owners telling clients that there is a machine in the back for their convenience that only chargers one dollar ... which I took advantages of and usedthe machine while I was next up for my filling ...fast follow to me finishing up a patron goes to pay and she has a card ... the worker scurries to the back and tell hers basically that she was too loud and she apologizes for letting the cat out of the bag buttttttttttt where does that leave me lol I can't exactly put my money back in the machine and avoid that transaction fee lol My thing is if you accept credit cards for "some of " or "all of" your costumers accept it for all of them !! Never again will I come here nor will I recommend this place to anyone. I've been getting my nails done since I was about 14/15 (7years) the Bloomfield area. I started with T&D around the corner but a few months ago I decided to switch it up and try out something new. I then started going to Hot Nails across the street from Mandee and I would definitely recommend them (they don't have a big polish selection though, whomp) First of all this place has a big ass pit bull running around.. Friendly dog but they seemed surprised when a customer asked them to "get their dog".. Who wants to be at a salon with a dog sniffing up on them. Second they tried to tell me they could only put one coat of paint on my nails if I wanted the gel over it. Bullshit. I've been getting my nails with gel over it and not once have I had a problem with two coats but they really tried to convince me that they could only do one. All ladies should know how tacky once coat of paint looks. I made them do two Third, I had to go back the next day cause without even really doing anything my acrylic chilled at the top of middle finger nail. I went back the next day to get it fixed but there woulda been a long wait so she told me to come back the next day.. I didn't even bother, just filed it down. Now fourth and what brought me to do this review is not even two weeks after getting my nails done half of the acrylic on my thumb nail has broken off. I'm glad my real nail didn't break with it. I'm lazy and can go 3/4 weeks with an acrylic and not have any lifting, breakage of anything. So the fact that this is the first time this is happening just tells me it's because they did a shitty ass job. read more

I went to Krystal Nails over the weekend, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. The prices are super affordable ($17+ for a fill or pedi, $40 for a new set), and the quality of the service is not at all compromised by their inexpensive rates. Cindy did a great jobs on my nails, and was friendly without being overly chatty. I could tell she wanted to make sure I was happy with the outcome of my nails, and I definitely was. I unfortunately did not catch the name of the woman who did my pedicure, but she was very nice, as well. It was probably one of the best pedicures I've ever had, and even after adding an additional service (foot/leg exfoliating scrub), the price was amazing. My boyfriend lives just around the corner from here, so it is safe to say that I have found my new go to nail spot. Street parking can be a little tricky, but there are several public lots within walking distance. read more

This have been my go to nail salon for the last two years!! I'm constantly referring my customers and associates to this nail salon! When I first started coming I would let any of the nail techs do my nails. After a while I started to request Nina, she's amazing! She's a sweet girl, easy to get along with and shape my nails like no other. Today (Tuesday) I went to get a fill in but Nina happen to not be in. Joanne knows that I usually go to Nina but since she was off she told me that Nam would do my nails which I was fine with. 10 mins later she came by to tell me that I should just come back on Friday when Nina is back because the other three nails techs did not want to do my nails and that herself was fully booked for the day. I was offended by her remark so I left and then I called the salon to get a better understanding. She insisted that her staff didn't feel comfortable around me and refused to do my nails, stated how I'm only pleased with Nina servicing me. I do prefer Nina over the rest of the staff but I never give them hard time whether I like my nails or not. If I'm not pleased I pay them and I leave there's no reason for me to act out of character over nails. Plus it's been well over a year since I've been serviced my the other nail techs besides the few ladies that do my pedicures and even we never have an issue. Joanne remarks are not only offensive but they are not even true. Joanne herself know how I am, every time I visit she's always nice, happy to see me and make it point to ask about my sister . She did try to make it better by asking if I wanted to book an appointment with her for Wednesday but Honestly had she not made it known that the rest of her staff refused to do my nails and making it a point about how difficult I am, I could've just walked away with no problem but she kept making that a point. If I was so difficult and hard to be around I don't understand why she would offer to do my nails on another day or ask me to return on Friday. As a owner/manager of the salon she definitely lacked professionalism and customer service in this incident. After two years I will no longer return. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place is the worst, I spent almost 3 hours and still left with my nails a mess. I explained to the nail tech exactly how I wanted my nails. I even asked was she ok because she had an attitude. The manager attempted to finish the job and was unsuccessful. I've seen the reviews and have had a less than preferred experience, especially when I discovered they choose to do cash only even though they have a card reader. But after tonight I will no longer give this business my money. I called to see if they had time for a manicure she said no they're busy so I said okay. She made a decision to call me back and ask if I can arrive in 10 mins and I said I can do 15 mins so I jumped out of my bed and sped to the salon. Upon my arrival she pretended she never called and said we don't make appointments. Which is a lie because the owner always has older black or ratchet women who have appts WITH HER! Anyway. She told me nobody called me and that was the maplewood location. Then told me it's ok and to sign in. I walked out of course. I will not be disrespected and played like a fool. This place is garbage. I went in for a powder color fill and everything was bad. First, the woman who did my nails rushed. It hasn't even been a week and I already have chipped nails. And they have very little powder color options. Second, there was a loose pitbull roaming the salon. I know that has to violate some health codes. And as someone who is afraid of dogs, this made me very uncomfortable. Third, they don't accept credit cards. How can you brand yourself as a legitimate business and you don't accept major credit cards. I wanted this place to be good because I live relatively close but I'll stick with my normal salon in Clifton. Never again read more

I got a pedicure here and all I can say is it was bad. The nail tech was lovely and we had a great conversation BUT, the pedicure was not good at all. All my nails are different shapes and the bottom of my feet are extremely rough to the point I have to go out to buy a pumice and re-do the bottom of my feet. Before I left, I asked a nail tech to clean all the paint that was left on the skin of my toes. $19 for a pedicure isn't bad but, it could have been MUCH better. read more

I come to Krystal's on a regular basis for a crystal set with gel color and a design. My real nails are hideous!! Cindy is the only person that I allow to do my nails but the others are popular among patrons as well. Cindy does my nails quickly and always puts a beautiful design on my nails. I like the women who do my manicure and pedicure-they do a great job. What I don't like is the fact that the only clients that can make appointments are the owner's clients. The rest of us too bad! So, if the person you like is unavailable you wait or come back later or another day. And you can do that for two day in a row!! The owner could give a crap, she's making money!!!! They no longer take credit cards, they are constantly up-selling you. If you tell them no they ask you why. So while their workmanhip is good their customer service stinks. Im writing this review after my first visit to Krystal Nails. I got the dip powder done on my own nails. I have only tried dip powder once before this time at a different location. It was $47 dollars and the tech used gel as top coat which doesn't last on my nails. Krystal Nails only charges $35 for dip powder and they followed all the steps correctly. I made a request for the tech to not buff my nails with the drill and the tech didn't give me a hard time about it like at the previous place. I also want to say that I visited as a walk in on a Saturday afternoon and was seen almost right away. Its not a big place but seems to operate efficiently to avoid long wait times. I love the color I got and saw other available options that were beautiful. I might experiment and try a chrome or holograph color next. I am giving 4 stars because although the service and techs were great, everything was dusty from the products and du. But great place! read more

I really love this place. The space its a little small and the parking is a challenge but there is a parking garage being built so that shouldn't be an issue for long. The ladies there are really nice and I like that I can ask about the different nail options and they explain whereas other places they just slap on acrylic and don't bother even asking you what you want. I wish they offered Sundays. I also take my 5 yr old and they treat her really nice and they don't slack just because she's younger. They take their time. read more

I went for my bday and did my nails with joanna. It was pretty cool. She does appt so i scheduled one for this past sat. I got there 20mins early. My aplt was for 11am. I do not get in her chair till 1145am. Clearly appts are not valid at this place. She starts quoting me different prices. Im like watt. I get a fill in and uv gel. She is supppose to give me two coats. She only gives me one coat of nail polish and uv gel. Her entire service was HORRIBLE!!!! I've been coming to this salon for 10 years since I was 15 And what I like the most besides the fact that they do excellent nails is that they are very fair. They've treated me very nicely since I was a child and you don't find that at many salons . People constantly ask me where I get my nails done because they do a great job. Nam does my nails and is very detailed and gets me in and out . Recently i had a problem with my polish and they fixed it without charging me that is excellent customer service . In the afternoon and evening they are very busy because they have many loyal regular clients so be prepared to wait . They are newly renovated so the salon is very beautiful and most importantly very CLEAN.I sometimes have to stop at other salons when I'm out of town but i always come back to krystal nails because they have the best nail polish selection I have seen! Just had my nails done here for the second time. I could not believe that Joann recognized my voice on the phone and not only remembered my name, but also details from our conversation when she did my nails a month prior. She makes you feel welcome and your business, appreciated. Between the friendly staff and prices it can get a little crowded, but they seem to honor their appointments before seating walk-ins. My full set w gel polish lasted 3.5 weeks without chips and the only reason I had to come back was because they were too grown out. Trying to find someone who did quality nails was becoming a chore and I was becoming discouraged at finding a suitable replacement. I am so glad for the recommendation. I was seen by Nancy, who did an excellent job on my full set and pedicure. All of the staff were friendly. It was around the holiday time during my initial visit and the shop had snacks, chocolate and drinks available for patrons. Gave 1 star partly because it was mandatory and partly because the girl that did my nails was very nice. However- do NOT go to this salon. It is extremely dirty and there are no tool sanitizer sin sight. They charge you extra for everything. Example: if one of your gel tips is lifted, they will charge you to file it away during a fill. 2nd example: One of my gel nails fell off- they told me it's better for my nail bed if I do not get a glue on extension even after I told them, multiple times, I want all of my nails to be the same length. I am now walking around with an extremely short thumb nail while all others are long AND you get to pay extra for it too! Woman was extremely rude when I explained they did nothing extra to deserve the add ons to the final price. Never going back. Very surprised it was so busy in there. But it probably only looked so busy because it took over two hours for a gel fill. Absolutely awful experience. read more
