Wow! The state of the art Kroger has come to Embry Hills. Love the look of the extra wide aisles and sealed concrete floors, to the big bakery and meat departments..and Starbucks. The folks, as is the usual at Kroger, were friendly and helpful. I suggest reviewers who visited/wrote prior to the debut of this new shopping experience check out the new Kroger investment. I don't know when this reopened, but it was a welcome and impressive surprise for me. read more

First, one should know I'm not the typical shopper. I maybe make three grocery store runs a month maximum, I'm a vegetarian (who occasionally consumes fish/sushi/sashimi), and I'm not that particular/fussy usually. Making those caveats, I continue. I'd moved to the area about three years ago and this became my Kroger by default, and it's partly because of the reward points (though, lately, I never seem to get to 100 points in enough time to make use of them, or I never need gas when I do have enough) and partly because of product familiarity and cost why I come here. The layout of the store has never changed and I appreciate that, because I get pretty much the same thing every time. If I need milk, it's there (and sometimes they have sales on them, and even a couple times buying two half-gallons was cheaper than buying a full gallon! I'd pointed that out to another customer once and she swore she'd follow me around for shopping). I get fajita wraps often to make mini quesadillas, and that's been a quest sometimes, because they don't always have Verolé flour ones. In fact, this Kroger tends to be interesting with the things I look for, as sometimes they may be out (Kroger fettuccine, Kroger unsalted dry roasted peanuts, four cheese Hot Pockets, and Kroger hot salsa [which shocked me; with the amount of people who complain about spicy food, I'd think the mild would be out, but this store has a fairly substantial Spanish-speaking customer base too]). As I said, I'm not that fussy, so when that happens I often say "Well, I'll pick it until next time." The produce has been okay. Going to find something I don't usually get (like honey, this one time) has been an adventure, but then after it you realize why it's in the location it is. The cashiers have been pretty nice, and a couple have recognized me even though I come so infrequently. I've dealt with the customer service desk only once (when I'd made the *maddening* mistake of picking up the No Sugar Added sweet relish instead of the regular kind). In that instance, I'd brought back the receipt and the ghastly product, got the one I'd actually wanted from the shelf, and brought it all to Customer Service. I'd explained my situation, and the clerk literally took the regular sweet relish from my hand and just handed it right back to me. It left me confused, but I thanked her and left. Asking people for help may yield proper results if you find regular stock people, but it may be iffy if you don't recognize the person. I've not yet had someone who will actually walk you to the product you seek. The sushi, finally, is pretty good (though, again, with some reserve I'm not that particular). They try to mix up the California rolls they serve, along with the nigiri (though they'd stopped making eel ones except in very rare occasions), but their chirashi bowls have been uneven in quality. They used to have salmon and tuna in them, but lately they've been chopped-up crab stick on top of the shredded lettuce and rice. And that's pretty much it. People bemoan this location, and it's probably been because I haven't gotten meat or fish, or really interacted with anyone that I can't find particular fault with it, but it's pretty okay. I wouldn't say it's stellar, but if you have pretty general needs like me and come pretty easygoing and open-minded, it's fine. read more

I absolutely HATE this Kroger. To be fair, I am a die-hard Publix fan, but I've been to better Kroger stores in the Atlanta metro. The only reason why I go to this Kroger, is that it's pretty close to my house. So I'm only there if I need something quick on my way home from work or I need something in the wee hours of the night, since it is open 24 hours. Other than these 2 occasions, you'll find me at the Northlake Publix or the Buford Highway Farmers Market to get my groceries. First off, I can never seem to find what I need for a particular recipe at this Kroger. For example, I needed some fresh figs for a salad recipe. Even if it isn't fig season, I can find fresh figs at most grocery stores. But not this Kroger. They didn't even have any dried figs! Secondly, the produce, especially the fruits and veggies is just of poor quality. On several occasions, I have seen moldy and wilted produce on the shelves. I know that it's going to happen every once in awhile, but seriously, I've never seen that much sorry produce at a Publix. Thirdly, the employees just aren't friendly. Not that they've been personally rude to me - but it's nowhere near the experience I get at Publix. Heck, I don't even get a free sample of Boars Head at the deli counter. read more

This is a great Kroger. This is my favorite Kroger. I love the Freebie Fridays. I pick mine up every week- sometimes, I wait a few weeks, and score a whole bunch of Freebies at once. The app has good digital coupons. I like how they send you personalized coupons to your house- for things they know you buy. I used to fill out the receipt survey every time I shopped here- and I won the $100 gift card like 2 years ago. I dig the sushi here. It's actually really good. This location is good for good prices, nice frozen food selection, decent 'natural' food section. The employees are super friendly- too friendly. I'm kinda shy and like to feel anonymous, but they're always recognizing me, making me blush. Very nice people. read more

The only reason I continue to go is HOMESTEAD CREAMERY MILK. The managerial staff in this location is horrible as is the main customer service rep Issaga. Issaga and Adrian Verner are rude people who shouldn't work in customer service. Please learn how to talk to people. Please learn that its not your money its Kroger's money AND I'm fairly sure in the big scope of things they'd rather you give me another batch of produce then for me to tell any and everyone that I know in passing how terrible you treat your customers. I go 8 miles out of my way to go to tucker when the children don't need milk because your store is so depressing. I came for milk on THURSDAY 04/30 and there was fight in your parking lot. If you need a bag of potato chips to scrape the last french onion dip from the bottom of the tub, or a case of beer, stop by. If you intend to do all of your grocery shopping here, think again. The aisles themselves are cramped and the place is always packed, so pushing a buggy through the place is a nightmare. If you like rubbing shoulders with a granny in a head scarf you are in business. The produce selection is small and of poor quality. Keep in mind I am not a produce snob. If you want squishy tomatoes to lob at street performers in little five points, you are in business. Stock is old, if you wanna stock up on christmas tree cakes in july, you are in business. The staff at this location is horrible as well. If you like dish washing powder bagged with bread you are in business. If you want to watch kids push 30 buggies into a beat up Chrysler 300, you are in business. This is pretty much the neighborhood grocery for me and has reasonably stocked items here. To start, the parking is a little bit bigger than standard. Trying to park in front of the actual Kroger or close to it will still prove to be a challenge, because there isn't a close grocery store to here (apart from the Green Walmart on Pleasantdale). The breads, cheese section is modestly stocked and the veggies and fruit are ok. There is a higher amount of meat selection and a good bakery section along with some cold sweets and fresh sushi (the Sushi is made late at night and will remain good for that day). As for the rest of the store, I think it lacks a bit more than what I would expect for a kroger and only grocery store in this entire 30340 area. The frozen foods are plentiful, but the rest of the store is undershelved and you really dont get a lot of extra stuff apart from the redundant brands. What makes this Kroger great is the usual Kroger Pharmacy which has its own mini section near the self check outs, and a built in bank of america. This makes the Bank secure and you dont have to worry about watching your back during an ATM visit. Could use some improvement but I'm diggin it read more

Let me just start by saying, I don't normally shop at Kroger. I think all Krogers suck. I normally shop at Publix where everything is clean and awesome. However, in these hard economic times I have been going to Kroger when they have sales on certain things like meat. I hate, loathe and abhor the Kroger that is closer to me, so I thought that I would go to this one instead. Ugh. While it's a little better than the one on La Vista and apparently is much better than it was when the first reviewer went there, it still sucked. Dear Kroger, you claim to have very stringent QA controls on your meat, but if that's the case why did some of the chicken look sketchy. Why do your pork chops not look like pork chops? Why are they weird, oddly shaped rejects? Your QA sucks. I think I've given up on going to any Kroger. I'll buy meat on sale at Publix and freeze it because I never, ever, ever, ever, ever have ANY issues with meat there. Went to purchase a money order with a friend and because She was paying cash the cashier asked to see her ID we had to explain to the cashier that legally she cannot ask for her social or id if she isn't paying with a credit card or debit card. Was followed around the store by a anywhere between 3 and 5 employees for the entirety of my leisurely 2 hours shopping trip.

One of the worst shopping experiences of my life. Under stocked shelves, unhelpful employees, understaffed.... Kroger, you can do better.

Recently visited this location with my friend who also works here. It had a certain hometown charm as I walked through the automatic doors surrounded with lush greenery and the Salvation Army helper ringing the Christmas bell for donations. As I entered the main doors I was pleased to see the workers going at their duties like busy little worker bees, lol. The store was bright and well lit; Ales were free of clutter etc. I have no complaints and plan on shopping here more in the future. P.S watch your step in the parking. Shoppers seem to drive a little crazy in the lot. read more

This Kroger hardly ever has fresh produce. And the worst part about it is your cell phone won't work inside the store. Forget your recipe? Your screwed unless you want to walk out to your car and look it up then come back in. Need to call home to see if you have an item, better walk out to the parking lot. I have to say this is my grocery store of choice. I'm not sure if the other patrons who reviewed here have reviewed the wrong location or went just after some big Sunday afternoon rush or something but I've never encountered any problems here. The store has a great layout, the butcher shop cuts to order with a smile, the shelves are always well-stocked and the folks are very nice. I get a little reluctance to help from the deli sometimes and the pharmacy can be a little slow but I haven't found a better place to get groceries on a regular basis and I buy produce, staples and meat - everything but booze (I don't drink) here. They have done a good job with the remodel, but some of the staff are extremely rude! If you have a problem at this store just give up and go to another grocery. Do NOT go to customer service because Zenobia will be extremely rude to you. My cashier was super nice though! Maybe it was just Zenobia. Watch out for her! This kroger blows! From the long check out lines, the long self check out lines, and the long lines at the bank of America inside the bank. The produce is squishy, molding, or over saturated with water from those damn sprayers! The deli workers leave much to be desired and their sandwiches suck!!!! THEY SUCK DUDE!!! they make subway sandwiches look gourmet and handcrafted by the reincarnate of Julia child with the perfection Gordon Ramsey couldn't deny, yes..... their sandwiches suck that badly I wanted to literally cry and I returned it. The meat looks suspect, I've seen meat that looked more appetizing at food depot than this krogers and I to be quite honest I hated food depot until I discovered they have peach-mango kool-aid and their 10 pound bag of sugar is cheaper than publix. I don't like kroger, they used to be good but that was before publix came along and no one knew any better. The only kroger I can 1/2 stomach is the one off roswell road and the one off piedmont in buckhead. I know you are asking if I'm a grocery snob, yes I am... I don't care how dire my financial situation ever becomes I will never buy meat out of krogers! I will become a vegetarian if it came down to it. Positive things I can say about kroger: great sales on chips, juice boxes, and snack type items for children's lunches.
